- Опубліковано 15 лис 2023
- Longines just revealed their NEW Legend Diver 39mm in a blue or black dial with a new stainless steel beads of rice bracelet. Today I’ll show you 10 new updates on this version and compare it to the previous 42mm and 36mm. I’ll give you my thoughts and why I think it’s Longines BEST Diver watch of 2023 and how it compares to the likes of Tudor Black Bay 58 / 54 / Pelagos.

Longines just keeps killing it in the sub-5k range. Would 100% pick this over a Black Bay.
It embarrassing that we even have to say that out loud it’s so obvious- but the BB crowd is just a different group
@@italianstallion3130i wouldn’t mind a black bay if they got rid of the ugly crown sticking out, what’s your beef with it?
@@AR-hw9zi I just think the design is boring- the case is plain and thick - and also those sausage hands. Overpriced for what they are- particularly when you put it next to an offering like this which is much cheaper but far nicer
Much cheaper? There is €300 price difference, which isn't that much. Not speaking about looks, but one thing the Black Bay has going for it, it build quality and feel. The bracelet and clasp are fantastic and a level that almost no other brand gives for around 5k
This watch is so overpriced for what you get. I actually really like the Legend Diver but the price point is way off IMO.
Finally a reasonable lug to lug for the legend diver! 10/10. I would definitely choose the blue.
Longines finally perfected their compressor diver! Yay! They made it in 39mm, dropped the 3 O'clock date and got rid of that god awful faux lume. What more could you want? I would take this over the BB 58 any day of the week.
The Legend Diver is pretty much perfect. Longines is really elevating their lane atm.
agree! external rotating bezel divers are so ubiquitous, they're like oatmeal. the Legend is stunning. i also like the stealth aspect of it being 30 ATM and how it's a seamless dress / diver. it's my holy grail. even if I could afford a Rolex, I wouldn't buy one because of the kind of posers who are attracted to the brand.
There's actually a big market for longines. they're #6 globally.
love it! the Legend diver was my first luxury piece, picked up for $1k a long time ago. I'll be adding this at some point.
Purchased the blue dial version immediately this morning on bracelet. I’ve owned the LLD black dial date version twice in the past 9 years.
Home run. Always amazing when a watch company shows they are listening to what we want.
Brother your killing it with this vids! Keep up the good work
A longines boutique employee here in korea tipped me off about this a few months ago when i went to look at some zulu time gmts. Could not find info anywhere online. Now here it is.❤
I got to see them at a Longines event a few weeks ago. I have as immediately impressed. I really like the tone of blue they used on the 39 and the new bracelet felt really nice, also. I am strongly inclined to get one.
Awesome, thorough review Derek! You convinced me to save up for one.
It's perfect. I would make the crowns slightly shorter, closer to the case. I would also prefer a simpler caseback, just brushed. Other than that, it is great. The blue really pops and the dial design has always looked good, especially with no date. Plus, no fauxtina!! Well done
Really looking forward to the new Hydroconquest. Longines just keeps hitting it out of the park. Would love to see the legend diver and/or the new Hydroconquest with the high beat ultra-chron movement.
I'm a little late but congrats on hitting 100K Subs 😄👍🏼
Thanks for sharing this one. I like the supercompressor look and feel and this one's on my "hit list" for sure.
FINALLY LONGINES A WEARABLE AWESOME DIVER THANK YOU LONGINESSSS
I can’t get the watch out of my head! 😍😍😍
If only Longines can shrink this exact no-date iteration to 36 mm, I would immediately buy it!!
Man this Is an awesome release 👏
Incredible video, thanks!!! By the way, this is THE watch for me in this 2023
Amazing watch. Just amazing. Maybe best release this year
Amazing video and watch 😍
Great video! This could be a real strap monster. Is there a lot of space between the spring bar and case for nato straps, like the thick 1.5mm+ natos?
They nailed it ! Long live longines
Great video. Wanted to see a review on this watch and yours popped up. Keep up the good work. Love the blue dial. I have the BB 58 in black dial but also want the blue dial. Just don't want to buy 2 same watches. Beads of rice bracelet is better than the milanese mesh.
Thanks for great analysis of this watch.
Does the screw in crown on the inner bezel mean that it cannot be used under water or when wet? Is this a design flaw of the inner bezel style?
Thank you
Have had my eye on this model previously, specifically, the black dial and the bronze model. I think the blue dial takes the cake though.
Really wish they had a adjustable on the fly clasp…everything else is amazing!!!
This watch is gonna be a winner. I'm considering the 39mm Longines Heritage sub seconds and i'd like to know if this BOR bracelet is compatible with that case?
Fume and date would be perfect, tried 42 it was extremely comfortable
Finally! After more than 10 years after the 42mm release. The problem 4 me was never the 42mm, but with the 53mm lug to lug. It's just way to big.
Micro ajustment would've made it a must buy
Can you review the conquest chronograph please interested in getting it one. Maybe from your store.
This will be great in fun colors.
A burgundy dial would be nice
What company is credited with the first super compressor wristwatch?!
Gives the JLC Polaris a serious run for its money! Great release!
Agreed!
the perfect Longines GADA watch! Great video as always bro.
Thanks Anthony!
Man am thinking hard about this not or the sbga375. What’s your thought Derrick?
I see a gap between the end links and lugs. Is the end link loose?
Waiting for white dial version. Thanks bro ❤😢
Thank you for your review. Longines is one of my favorite brands. My AD had told me about a 39 m for the Legend Diver was coming, but I was without any news, and feared that it was just a “watch legend”. I still debating on the choice between blue and black, but definitely with bracelet. Its a great dial, not a lot of competition on the internal bezel complication! One of the best I have see so far for this price range. Just registered to your channel!!
I didnt understand what the reference to the tightening of the case was all about. Are you implying that the top crown which turns the bidirectional diving bezel can be operated under the water?
Man, if Longines updates their 42mm version with these changes, I will give them my money. I’m in the market for a dive watch between $3k-$5k and this would be hard to pass up if they did.
Can you turn the bezel while underwater?
Hi @minute Mon, Why does the Legend Diver watch appear at 1:43 with rust or corrosion? Is there any quality issue with this type of watch?
Longines nailed it. While I would love a date, this is still very good and the no date does add t the symmetry, which I appreciate. The shade of blue is spot on and the BoR bracelet is gorgeous. I would love a quick adjust clasp, but at least there are plenty of micro adjusts. I hate when brands short us on micro adjust positions. I've seen this shown on a blue tropic strap, which is also gorgeous. I would go for that over the NATO strap, if I were to take it off the bracelet. This watch definitely has my attention. I love the slightly above COSC certification work and appreciate the ISO certifications they did with this watch. It shows Longines really takes these seriously as tool watches. The multi-colored lume is very cool, and I also wish that extended to the rest of the markings on the bezel. I think the only thing that could pull me away from it would be the release of a blue Pelagos 39. I am not in a rush to purchase a blue diver at the moment, but I do want one. We'll see if Tudor comes out with a blue P39 in 2024, because a blue diver is likely my next big purchase.
Longines had such a good 2023 I wonder what is up their sleeve for 2024.
Agreed. They are definitely on an upward trend.
i like their 36 legendiver
I really hope they offer somewhen a bronze version like the bigger version
If this one has an open caseback and a more unique bracelet, it would be a winner.. but it is a compelling proposition.
I’d buy it if marked down for Black Friday. 😊
Is it just me or does the spade hour hand look different than on the 42mm or 36mm versions of the LLD?
Just wish they implement the new clasp from the Hydro Conquest GMT
Wow. I have a 42 LD and don’t care about a 39- but this blue dial with that bracelet- Holy Moly. She Fine.
The bracelet is out of this world. The most comfortable watch i own.
I thought the Spirit was going to be my next watch but this 39mm version may be it.
Absolutely beautiful. I'd love to see it in the flesh. Only 2 negatives for me, the crazy price, and the bidirectional (not a dive) bezel!!! My farer aqua compressor endeavor is uni directional. Also curious why the leather strap costs the same as the beads of rice!
it's iso certified. it's 100% a dive watch.
Are you sure this ISO 764? it is only 60Gauss magnetic resistance. For example iPhone emits 180 Gauss
Love that they removed the date!! Great looking, nice size, packed with features at a value price point!! Would have liked an on the fly micro adjust though. Otherwise Longines has done it again! 👏👏👏
The single most useful feature for most people 😂 there is a reason all the brands have gone to showing the date while vintage watches didn’t.
@@OutdoorCanadians Not ever brand has a date on every model, especially dive watches. Some people just like a cleaner dial. They still have it on 42 and 36mm models (except bronze).
Surely you couldn’t adjust the bezel underwater if you have to unscrew the crown?
I have the Legend Diver 36 and I'm happy with it for my skinny wrist, but man am I jealous of that BoR bracelet!
Is that because of optics or is it that the Milanaise bracelet of the 36mm does not bend and adjust very well to the wrist?
@4amigo mostly looks, the milanese is comfortable enough but I find myself fiddling with the microadjust alot since the mesh is thick and doesn't curve as much as I'd like sometimes. Having no gaps with the end links plus some gorgeous polishing would be my ideal though.
Damn the blue one would look great if inner bezel would be silver with dark blue numerals. Like the silver seamaster 300m. Thers a bit too little differentation between the bezel and dial
I really enjoy your videos. In terms of a value proposition that watch sounds great. It's weird but somehow there's something about that brand that makes me feel ick? Don't know why....
I think I may pick up a Longines soon. I work at an AD for Longines so this looks really enticing.
Where?
@@boldaslion281 not sure if Minute Mon would appreciate plugging my store here, but if you’re down in Australia, specifically Adelaide, come to mazzucchellis hahaha. I’m a rep there.
Any discounts? I need hook up
Finallyyyyyyy
I loved this watch when I tried it on, such an excellent size. But I was disappointed that at this price point they don’t have a quick adjustment on the bracelet, that’s unfortunately a deal killer for me, especially since I love wearing watches on their bracelets!
Micro adjustment on the fly would’ve been perfect here
I am trying to make a choice between this and the Grand Seiko sbga375.
@@PepRex thanks bro. I like this but I love the GS.
The 39mm versions are nice unisex divers. Hopefully Longines will re-release the full size 42mm version in steel with no date.
Love the watch but it irks me that the rotating bezel can't be turned underwater.....
What’s the metal strap like looks cheap ?
Could I have your opinion on the supercompressor of Christopher ward?
I have been holding out in purchasing the legend diver at 41mm because of the extended lugs. But now, uhmmm!
Wow I thought the new version would be better looking but somehow I’m happier with my 42mm version.
They really went away from the original look with this update and the hands are totally different and look clumsier/bulky.
They did improve the lume which is good I guess. But not sure why they had to totally change the watch to do that.
Still missing screws to size the bracelet and definitely the on-the-fly adjusting clasp. Without those I'd rather spend the same amount of money on a Tudor, or even on a different Longines' model.
I like it a lot! Happy that it is now in 39mm! However, hoped they would improve the crwon for the bezel so that we would not have to unscrew it in order to rotate it! I do not like this aspect of the watch - you cannot actually use the rotating bezel when the watch is wet....
I've been on the opposite side, I've used crowns that don't screw down for inner rotating bezels and can't tell you how many times my bezel would lose its place, I prefer the screw down crown for bezel here
@@MinuteMon I would like to have at least some water resistance when the crown is unscrewed like yema does it in its superman 500 diver.
Great size but price jump kills it
The old gradient dial is better and I actually prefer the date. The only things I like more is the movement and the lume.
Do tell, what are the things that the Longines does better than the JLC? Don't leave us hanging!
What do you think is the best combo for the legend diver. Milanese bracelet, beads of rice bracelet, leather strap, or tropic strap.
I like the look of the Milanaise bracelet but heard it does not adjust very well to the wrist. I expect the new BoR bracelet to wear really comfortably - I just tried it today at my local AD and it feels like a good quality build and adjusts very well.
I say the Beads of Rice bracelet. I tried everything else except the Milanese mesh bracelet, but I prefer the seamless integration from case to bracelet
02:29 no one is changing the internal bezel during a dive.
Digging the bracelet and the dial seems very compelling
I've never had a watch with AR on the outside, seems like it would bug me if it started coming off or scratched. I think it defeats the purpose of having the saphire instead of "hardlex" crystal.
Auuu brate glupljeg komentara jos nisam procitao .
Bellissimo
Great watch. Thanks for let us know. Do you know the reference number?
Yup its in the description of this video plus links to our website if interested to learn more / purchase through our store.
Its in the description of the video along with the links to our shop!
Better than Polaris.
So wait … does this actually have a super compressor case with the spring in the back, or is it just the case style?
It’s actually built as a SuperCompressor case
It’s just the case style, it doesn’t use the spring system. The Christopher Ward is the only recent release to use this. It is unnecessary though as the watch has 300m of water resistance without adding that complexity. Chronometer certified, anti-magnetic certification and ISO rated - This is a good release from longines and deserves to sell well.
@@roymorrison6713 yes, there are hardly any real super compressor cases anymore because they're not particularly good for shallow submersion - they would leak because the pressure isn't high enough.
the double AR coating is a no in my book. I wish it's just inner coating
Bro really just said beads of rice bracelet without flinching lmao
Whats your point?
Personally I love the gradient dial on the 36/42 it’s stunning. Gutted they got rid of it 😞
Great presenter!
Thank you kindly!
looks great but why is this watch $800 more than the 42mm version
Can you put this on a Milanese bracelet ?
Of course, I put my Alpina legend diver on one and it looks great
You can, I haven't tried personally though
Automatic should've been on the back too
Longines, is my favorite watch brand. I own seven different Longines watches in my collection. As an avid Scuba Diver, I own a Longines HydroConquest Dive Watch which I love. I do not own a Longines Legend Diver watch at this time. I do love the design, however as an environmental Scuba Diver, ocean explorer, and as a scientist concerned about the environment and overfishing of our oceans, I would like to see Longines make a redesign change on the elegant Diver image on the caseback of the watch. I would like to see the harpoon removed from the diver’s hands and/or a new design of a more environmentally friendly diver on the caseback. So the diver does not appear to enter the ocean as a hunter, ready to hunt and kill aquatic life, but to appear as a diver entering the underwater world to explore the beauty of the natural environment and be respectful of all the fish living in their natural habitat. I have previously written Longines’s management and product development leader with this suggestion , even provided sketches as examples of a potential redesign of an environmentally-friendly looking diver. But, have never heard back. I love Longines, and as a Scuba Diver and ocean environmentalist, I hope one day Longines would consider my suggestion. I believe it would give the Longines Legend Diver watch a new and attractive look, and at the same time position Longines as a Dive Watch company concerned about the preservation of natural aquatic life in our oceans and waters of our planet. I would be happy to talk with someone from the company to further explain and discuss this topic. I have some thoughts to share regarding this.
The biggest improvement I see is the change in the hands. This new 39mm uses lume to fill up the entire hour and minute hands which allows them to be visible at all angles and lighting conditions. The 36 and 42mm hands use high polished hands with only small lume sections which makes the hands disappear in many situations. I will definitely be keeping my eye out on the black dial in the next few years when it becomes available on the grey market.
Next few years? You'd wait that long just to get it cheaper? Good grief... poverty is real.
High polished hands are easier to see at different angles actually as they gleam in the light as opposed to the dull color of lume. I’ve only ever enjoyed looking at my 42mm from different angles so you might want to own one before placing judgment.
High polished hands reflect and act as a mirror and will definitely disappear in many dark lighting situations. I've owned plenty of watches with both high polished, brushed, and high polish/brushed hands to have plenty of experience. @@OutdoorCanadians
Well your mom started charging extra for her services so I need to save up. @@gmshadowtraders
Great watch, but still... Just smaller size and 700USD increase of price...... Ridiculous
It’s not an actual compressor case anymore it’s just made to look like one, so please do not unscrew the timing bezel underwater or you will ruin the watch
Teethin content!! Into of the best... Like your format.... Points made...
This watch.. They did so much well.. The diverse on the cafe back is too high.. Making this restock l watch childish... Luckily no one dress the driver.. Could have made it a fifth the size.. it just have text...
Sub'd... Have you reviewed Omega Seamaster and Speedskater watches? Tags Aquarium 200 and 309m?
Interesting. A wearable lug to lug, great size, cosc,300m, $3k. Hmm
They should have also offered the same specs version but with date. This looks fine but uncompleted. It also lacks off the "on the fly" adjustment clasp from new hydroconquest.
Pefert size , wait for more colour
It is pretty with a nice vintage touch, but it is overpriced and somehow the dial could have used a bit more "design", it is a bit simplistic, specially for the price.
42 mm to 39mm = 2750 euros to 3500 euros, shame on you Longines, you won’t rip me off this much.
All brands are doing this. They charge more for the < 40mm version and even make it extremely limited aka Blancpain
@@gmshadowtraders maybe, and so what ? Is it an excuse that they all do the same? Nope. Besides, Tudor is doing it for the new release of their blackbay 36, same size, much more expensive.
So, sure, they always say they change this and that, bracelet, movement, blah blah ,they always have an excuse. I say they just want to milk the consumer, luxury watches prices are going crazy, we as consumers should just stop buying it, that’s the only thing they understand.
@@antoinek1468ya ..I just vote with my wallet ..fack those companies..
It’s true but the new watch comes on a bracelet, has a COSC certified movement and an upgraded power reserve and silicon hairspring.
true, weird right
nice watch but overpriced....seems the Swatch group are increasing prices across the brands
