My best friend went and saw him in a Vegas show a few months ago and she said it was downright awful. He went on a 20 min fake emotional rant and had a video of dying children with cancer on the screen. And then started dancing around screaming “LETS CELEBRATE LYFEEE” and this is so weird and insensitive Bc his own child had cancer and is in remission. He did a total of 6 tricks and since she was left of the center of the stage you could see him hiding behind stage boxes and using body doubles.
That really does sound awful, but this made me laugh 👍🤠

Growing up in vegas during the Criss Angel era was something. We had news bulletins constantly about what trick he was filming next and where the watching area was... but most locals treated it like an "avoid this area" bulletin. After a while the newscasters couldnt hide their disdain. I couldnt even drive, didnt have a job on the strip, yet somehow had a deep hatred for him. Edit to add that it was so bad even the fictional characters of CSI:Vegas hated their own fictional Criss Angel.
Anyways now hes at Raiders games all the time donating huge amounts to childrens cancer charities. Total 180 in the way hes percieved.
I believe his son died of cancer. Though he may have survived...I know he was really, really young, so I don't want to google it and be sad.

I asked because I saw a video on 9gag of a guy playing that on multiple stores and they all told him to stop, but I don't know how staged some or all of it was.

I met Cris Angel once right outside of the Luxor Hotel. I was a huge fan and excited to meet him. He had his security shoo me away😳 I was mad that night because my mom took me to a show of him after (not mad at my mom) but it did help for me to see how set up everything was 😅
One time in my 6th grade social studies class we were talking about religious extremists and the teacher asked if we knew someone who “claimed to be christian but did extreme things” and i raise my hand with complete confidence and said Criss Angel.

I'm nearly 27, and I loved Mindfreak and Dog the Bounty Hunter as a kid (Patty Mayo is kinda like a new age Dog, just cheesier). But it really saddened me when I learned Beth Chapman, Duane's wife, died of throat cancer, 3 days after my birthday. It's heartbreaking, but I recommend watching Dog's interviews from the past few years. It really makes you appreciate what you have

All jokes aside, I saw him live about 5 years ago and I loved it! Obviously the magic is fake but he put on an incredible performance.
He was my absolute idol when I was a kid. I remember him doing weird 💩 besides magic, like stopping his heartbeat and hanging from a helicopter on screws driven into his skin. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought he was the coolest guy on earth as a kid.

Every mall in every city or town across America (large or small) has a Spencer Gifts as far back as mid-last century. When you were 12 and trying to be “edgy” you’d go in to peruse the black lights and lava lamps. I bought my first “alligator” roach clip at Spencer’s, it’s a rite of passage for every kid.

For the last several years Criss Angel has been a great advocate for pediatric cancer since his son has been fighting a cancer battle for many years. He was a baby when first diagnosed I believe. Then he will go into remission for awhile before it comes back and then back into remission. I’ve had brain cancer twice and several of my friends have lost their children to brain cancer so anyone who advocates for pediatric cancer is doing something good.
