I remember receiving a Graham's "The Tawny" as a part of a Christmas gift from my employer.
Champagne is however used for New Year's Eve where it is opened upon entering the new year.

For Christmas in Australia with the heat, Sparkling Shiraz (chilled) is perfect with turkey (hot or cold) and ham.

Dad and I have started a tradition a couple years back, where we both gift each other our 'Wine of the year' for Xmas...
It doesn't have to be from that year specifically, or overly ritzy - but a wine which we've had in the past year that has been most delicious.

Heard of people doing it, but this year will be first time I get on the sparkling Shiraz train at Christmas! Got the Majella and the Rockford Black - LFG!
Sparkling Shiraz - Christmas for sure D'Arenberg's Sparkling Shiraz (peppermint paddock) is my favourite.🤩🍷

Interesting, the last non champagne bubbly I had was a bottle of Rizzy star must by staffelter hof a natty sparkling Riesling quite a cool wine. there are supposedly some British sparkling wines that can throw serious punches at top champagne houses, I'll get around to those at some point I'm sure.
