I love how you try to match your clothes with the books. I have a fascination with sharks, have seen all the shark movies and i should actually read about htem too!

I might read them, I love sharks and have been a big advocate for them since forever. I’m glad more people are defending them.

You always speak my interest in books you talk about simply because you explain them so well. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing these reviews!! I felt similarly about both of these but I love sharks and am always on the lookout for more nonfiction about them! I appreciate you spreading awareness of the issues they face today 💙🦈

Very interesting! Sharks are fascinating as they’re real life monsters, but I’m totally safe unless the aquarium shatters while I’m under it.

The image of standing under an aquarium made me laugh 😂

I listened to the audiobook of Emperors of the Deep a couple month ago and really enjoyed it. For me personally it was actually the letter part that was most interesting as I already know a lot about the biology and different species (I have a marine biology background). I get why it can seem a bit depressing though.

Very interesting…we would all do well to consider that the ocean and the species that call it home should be respected. We are all tied together on earth and when one suffers we all do, even if we don’t always understand how.

I really enjoyed the shark book Chasing Shadows which is kind of an biography of a shark expert(authored by a professional writer and the shark expert) One thing that really stuck with me is how people reacted on cape cod to this experts shark warnings as the population increased(like stay away from the seals that are the sharks prey) people just more or less ignored him as it had been decades since anyone was attacked there. Then when some people did get attacked people flipped out and blamed the government and demanded sharks be killed. It reminded me of the pandemic in a small scale. Either people were overly complacence or wildly overreacting with little middle ground of reasonable caution.

How do you account then to what happened to the men on the USS Indianapolis during WW2?

It's discussed in Emperors of the Deep. My thought is the same as any other shark attack: being in or on the ocean, you run that risk. That's their home, not ours.

If we want to protect our oceans and sharks more people need to go vegan! If you can't be vegan for serious health issues, be mostly plant based and eat something like eggs which can be more easily ethically sourced. Let's stop participating in these damaging industries, and push for change in every way and from every angle. We need change from individuals and from cooperations and from governments. We all need to stop off-putting blame, and do what we can now, so that it won't be worth any money to destroy our oceans and we can stop those who are doing it.

I gravitate towards documentaries on the 📺, but fiction in 📚, so the fact that I love your videos and my interest in non fiction books has increased since I initially subscribed is no small thing IMO. Appreciate this video ( as always) 📖🪱💚
