Thanks for the shout-out, Josh. Happy to support the channel! Awesome overview of police batons, how they function as well as the pros & cons of each.
Thank You for supporting me and the 570 experience
The rapid rotation batons are they as hell. They will not stop anyone too light
7:41 police version of a lightsaber. Jedi cops that should've arrested Palpatine.
I agree with you on the last baton you showed. Using something that looks like a whip being used on anyone is not going to go over at all with the public. Good Video. Thanks!!!
Thank you...I love getting feedback from my viewers.
Freedom and compliance are practically synonyms.
The rapid rotation baton is just an adaptation of the traditional sai. There’s also a similar weapon called the jitte which had just one prong. The PR-24 from the tonfa and the adaptation of it comes from Master Tak Kubota, same man that brought us the Kubotan keychain, also meant for police originally. As we’re on that subject you should also include use of the Yawara stick. First use of it for police was credited to Frank Matsuyama for Denver PD. There were eventual incarnations of that like the Safariland “judo” stick. Nobody uses Yawaras or Kubotans in police anymore but you can see the vestiges of it in the pommel ends of the PR-24 and some Kel-lite flashlights. Use of objects like the Yawara is still evident. The handle end of the stinger whip is just a type of Yawara stick. Also a collapsed expandable baton can be used like a Yawara. IMHO, the usage of short palm weapons like Yawaras and Kubotans should be a part of a police officer’s arsenal. In terms of optics to the public eyes, it makes perfect sense and it makes use of something like the stinger whip possible when it’s held in its shortened form.
I loved my pr24. With the training, it is very adaptable. I hate expandables because they bend. Still have my side handle made by asp.
Get on the ground stop resisting
Well said
So far this is a very good video, still got alil bit left to watch but loving it so far.
I appreciate the kind words
@@The570Experience Very welcome, you have good videos
Check your local laws, some locals consider this a lethal weapons and require proof of training with them- similar to when you get training for concealed weapons permits. When I was trained on the PR24 we were NOT allowed to use them in deadly ways, like to the head, etc.
More Justice in the end of that stick than in the Supreme Court !!!!
Never put your hand through the lanyard
Never, EVER!
Time on target to transfer kinetic energy is the missing piece to effective baton usage.
Mass moves mass.
I Owen one with the bar on the side I got from a surplus store way before they went out of businesses sadly thanks online shopping
whip cant block a strike nor used as a leverage tool. but it does look it could cause quite a nice bruise
First video I've seen of yours. Definitely subbing.
Thank you
I hate getting beaten by old school batons. Im so glad they beat me with a different shaped stick now. 😂
Hahahahaha
Very informative, I really enjoyed it, my friend.
Thank you.
@@The570Experience ⚔
Great video! Subbed.
Thank You
That Stinger Whip does indeed hurt like a MF.
I was testing one on the sole of my boot to see how much energy it could apply but I missed and hit my calf.
Yep, it's a hurty lil birdy.
It's nasty
For a world im working on i have a billy club/sap type of club called a stunner their often filled with marbles or wooden balls [sometimes lead/steel ball barrings]
JFYI, the generic term for the "Tonfa (which was adapted/derived from millstone handles) type" batons is a Side Handle Baton. The PR-24 is the name of a side handle baton made by Monadnock (Protect & Restrain, 24 inches long). Aetco is another manufacturer of side handle batons but we would not refer to an Aetco side handle baton as a PR-24 (because that's trademarked by Monadnock).
No, the tonfa is not adapted from a freaking millstone handle!
Can we stop once and for all with this ludicrous nonsense?
A tonfa is a tonfa, i.e. a weapon, that's all.
Where do you imagine the sword comes from? Do you think they repurposed a letter opener or something? Obviously not! It's its own thing. Same with the tonfa. I don't get why people always want to find its origin in something else...
What a great Video ! When I first went into my Dept we carried "Night Sticks" we actually would be disciplined if we went in on a job w.o it, Or a car stop etc. In the US Coast Guard we Carried The ASP Collapsabile Baton . My Municipal Dept Switched all of us over to An ASP and I can assure everyone from experience, Josh is spot on, it can be taking off of you Rather quickly esc. If thebperson is on PCP Meth and or Drunk. I have seen it taking off of officers first hand . It's my personal opinion the night Stick Used in the right area , elbow, knee cap , collar bone is extremely effective ..
The Asp Baton, for Most people I have delt with or seen, basically just stings and they are quick to grab it .. I no longer even carry an ASP Baton . If it has escalated that far , I prefer FOX 5.3 Pepper Spray . Great video!!!Looking forward to seeing the rest !!
Awesome...I would love to have you come up and test these with me...ill even let you hit me with them.lol...but yea..I agree...each one has it pros and cons...we will break them down in a future video
@@The570Experience You know how much things have changed .. They use to train us to strike bones .. The Knee, Collar Bone ,elbow . Now that is 100 percent against policy . We are now trained to hit the meaty fatty flesh areas , Front and back of thighs , calves .. I have literally seen that Piss people off more then comply..
When are you doing it ? Are you going to wear a red man suit AKA Lobster suit? Don't tell me you are just gonna take strikes ..But, knowing you, you probably are not wearing any Gear. JESUS I don't wan
When issued the hardened steel PR 24 with aluminum expandable body was priceless.
We rarely expanded it. The steel portion was all you needed. Only drawback it was a in close fighting weapon. Getting cracked on the bridge of the nose full force with the heavy steel portion usually took the fight out of someone. Especially with relentless repeated facial strikes. Needless to say this was before bodycam existed. The expandable ASP is total crap. It like doing battle with a cheap twig 😂
I totally agree.
That rapid rotation baton looks similar to a sai, which is an old Okinawa police baton.
i have and old school wood style bat baton, the L shapped baton, with the swivel potion of the handel, and a collapsaple.
I started security with a PR24. Then Rodney King happened and we went back to straight stick, then the ASP.
What a champ. Hearting comments even after 2 years
@@renellbryan84 I appreciate every comment
Great, informative video. I have made my own version of a stinger out of 9mm cable and grippy tape for the handle...all under $5, so you wont cry if it gets lost or confiscated. My friends and I tried it out on each other. I can testify it is very painful even not at full force. Ive not watched your other videos, have you done any on saps/blackjacks? Once again great video.
Thank you
Very interesting
Thank you.
P24 my fav baton it would be an honer to be beaten by it
Hahahaha
I actually got a collapsible baton and it can fit right in my pocket.
The sound of you racking a shotgun gives away your position, and now they know you have a gun
I'm not crazy by the way
I just like the feelings
The thing isnt so you don’t drop it.
You hang the baton from the thong wrapped around the back of your hand with your hand about 1 1/2 inches above the butt of the baton. Then you roll over your hand in the opposite direction of the thong and it sucks your hand into the baton handle. It makes a really positive grip on the baton.
Based hitting sticks are cool.
You forgot the blackjack, the leather with the piece of lead in the end that literally would cave your head in, that was like the late 1800s to early 1900s. those were no joke.
I talk about them in the beginning
I appreciated how you presented this information in an educational and respectful way. Thanks!
You're Welcome
yall should carry handcuffs if you carry a non lethal
excellent video! what about the slapjack/blackjacks?
They weren't authorized by police departments but yes...ill cover them in a different video
@@The570Experience thanks man for the reply!
@@KrakenBolter you're welcome. I feel that if you took the time to comment on my video, the least I could do is reply. Thanks for the support
@@The570ExperienceDid you ever do this video?
I've always loved the side grip baton
It's one of my favorites, even if it's just the intimidation factor...its still effective
Gotta love the PR-24
Neat
Thank you
as a civilian, i've obtained the Rapid Rotation Baton without any credentials
👍
Could this steel cable whip stop a dog as effectively as a retractable metal baton?
Definitely
What size retractable baton do you recommend for security work?
24"
@@The570Experience thank u
In all seriousness many states consider the public using batons as deadly force. Check your local laws before trying to plan on using a baton as a less lethal option. You may end up in a cage. Especially those collapsible batons. Even the police where I live cant use them to strike bad guys unless lethal force is required. They are excellent glass breakers tho. Some even come with carbide tips that just fly through car glass. Honestly as a civilian I would prefer a tball bat. Or even a hammer. I live in one of those states where its lethal force either way tho. Your mileage may vary.
You are correct....let's hope we all have one but never need it
I got the wooden baton for a reasonable price.
Nice....I hope you never need it. Stay safe
It’s safe and sound
2:41 when will that video be released ?
I forgot about that...ill make that soon
👍👌
Josh can you use the smith and wesson baton as a home defense tool
You can...but I wouldn't...if someone is in my home...im not taking a chance with my family's life....ill have lethal force pointed in their direction
@@The570Experience ok thanks for letting me know because I live in a city now and I was wondering what be something I can use but not a firearm
@@stewartmatthews1551 pepper spray
@@The570Experience sounds good I will be sure to get that
Also I think the telescoping police baton is very Handy because the p24 is hard to conceal
It needs three years of training to become a police officer in germany. enough time even for strange batons.
Wow
@@The570Experience Yeah...in that three years where three good days...the first when everything was new, the day when we got icecream and the last.
Asp t series batons
10:26 that one is cute
The rapid Rotation is basically a wooden Sai pretending to be a Tonfa. The Tonfa is a Flail, designed to use the inertia of the swing. The sai is a baton with forks/tongs on the side used to subdue and grab weapons. They can both swing back to use as a block though.
They basically didn't understand how to use the Sai. It requires more skill to use than the Tonfa but it's very efficient also.
Thanks for the info
Sai were policemen’s tools. Ninja movies made them look like pitch forks. They were blunt tip tools.
Sai were designed to trap blades and limbs for leverage to apprehend suspects.
RRB = Karate Sai weapon.
Similar movements...very good..you're the first one to point that out
I am legally blind, I'm going to add this to my self defense cane, tactical flashlight and pen. Thanks for posting.
You're Welcome
2:59 I love this photo of the fat lieutenant running around in a riot totally unarmored wailing on people.
Hahahahaha
I've been through a self defense situation before and I'm always looking for something to keep me safe and I hate violence. I hate anything that keeps vulnerable people vulnerable.
You don't have a police baton on there that I have, I was hoping there would be coz I'm looking for the name of it 😅
Which one are you referring too? All of these are police batons
@@The570Experience I don't know the name of it , it's like that one with that side on it that's black, but it doesn't have a side it is straight and black only
@@SnipesPluto you mean an individual baton made out of composite
@@The570Experience yes I think so, it is old school, a cop gave it to me here in South Africa like 15 years ago
@SnipesPluto I explained in the video..the polycarbonate baton which I have, it comes in two different lengths....individual and riot
ซับไทยหน่อยพี่🇹🇭
It's sad i'm watching these videos cuz i have an abusive family and i want to have a way to protect myself
Than a baton is the last thing you need....u need to watch my pepper spray videos
@@The570Experience I've already got a pepper spray i've made with capcisium. I'm watching this to learn more about batons in case my spray doesn't work against them, i'll make it out of metal and some rubber from an old bike tire, if that doesn't work idk anymore.
@@TherealDjokson plz stay safe and I hope you never need to use them
@@The570Experience Same i hope these two options work, cuz third is cyanide gun (basically old squirtgun that i filled with cyanide i made from cherry pits) i mean it's the last resort and it's weak poison so it will only give them a extremely painful feeling that they are burning from inside but it should be safe if they die i don't care i have enough evidence to not be guilty
ভাই, এই,অর্য,কত
You miss rubber baton
Rubber baton would be for training
@@The570Experience the cops here used to use rubber batons for decades. Hurts like motherf*cker too! A solid whack can make your arm go completely numb for a while without the danger of breaking bones. Very effective tools.
BD police 🥲
First its called a PR-24. Poor presentation and lots of incorrect information.
Former FLEO and instructor here.
You're entitled to your opinion even though you are incorrect....and as far as speaking incorrectly..im a human. Nobody is perfect. I did alot of research before i made this video. Enjoy your day
Ok, it’s not just me. There was quite a bit of history missing from this mail order list (I’m pretty sure no department went right from the wooden truncheon to the PR24 without stopping at the straight baton) and nobody with any real world training brandishes a collapsible baton (“show it to them”) and expects that the sound of the baton expanding is going to deescalate any situation. That’s like saying that you can stop a home invasion simply by racking a shotgun. I rarely comment on UA-cam videos simply because social media is full of opinions but there is a whole lot of misinformation here.
He doesn't want a video made of him whipping somebody with that because he's afraid of losing his pension
