      Also it's stunning in the craftmanship, but the quality of the diamonds esp of the center or big diamond, the color is horrible and the clarity is bad.

    • @sirfirehare
      @sirfirehare 2 роки тому +10

      As an apprentice jeweller, i think i can give a reasonable answer, platinum can be a great metal to work with but also very annoying at the same time. Great since it will not react at all under heat of a torch, so anything you have prepolished in a tight area won't oxidise but you are also working with much higher temperatures to solder it together and melt it(you need eye protection as it is too bright) but the single biggest reason is platinum is a massive pain to get a mirror polish compared to gold, the finishing and polishing stage of making a platinum piece of jewellery can easily take twice as long as a yellow gold piece if not longer on a complex piece, you are also sanding the platinum to a much higher grit than gold too. Sorry for long reply.

      Also a jeweler just not an apprentice and I would disagree platinum work is a lot faster than gold but that isn’t the reason for the price difference the same item with exact same dementions in platinum will be significantly heavier than its gold counterpart so even though gold is more expensive per ounce it take more platinum to make the piece making it more expensive

    The quality of the diamonds is what will be the real vslue the platinum is valued at the present price, the appraiser is not an expert, and is way off
