I love her response when it gets appraised: "What a treasure. What a treasure".
It is worth at least $500k. This bracelet is still in production and this one is one of the originals. Verdura is still in business. Either they or Chanel Inc would pay big money to have this in their archives.
Best I can do is 20 bucks.
Well it is like that Patek Philippe pocket watch that is 1 of 1 and it sold for over $1.5 million and is in their museum now. It was appraised at $250,000 and just blew right past the estimated price.

What a generous Aunt Helen Hayes was to her niece and her family. She really sounded like a loving and kind lady.
I would love to see what else Aunt Helen had tucked in her top drawer.

I wish the back of the bracelet and the clasp could’ve been shown. Her vintage pieces are, in fact, very rare, but I still look around when I’m out at estate sales, yard sales, antique stores, online, etc… “Hope springs eternal in the human breast.” Right? It was amazing to see this clip. Thank you!

I saw in the news today that a lady in texas bought a busto from the roman era in a goodwill. So yeah, keep looking! 😁
Story time.
Years ago I heard a story about when they met at a gala. Young Charlie was a lowly vaudeville performer or something and she was already a big star.
He introduced himself and asked her to hold out her palm, into which he placed a handful of peanuts.
"I wish these were emeralds." He told her.
Years passed, and it was on one of their big anniversaries (I don't recall which), he took her out to dinner and asked her once again to hold out her palm, into which he placed a pile of emeralds.
"I wish these were peanuts!"
Hands down the most romantic story I've ever heard!
Thank you. Great story and fits so well with this piece. There was also something very special happening as the appraisal was delivered and the excitement built. Then combined with the owners heartfelt reaction and pride, like your story it was all about love and not the monetary value.
That story makes zero sense. He could afford rooms full of peanuts. Stop making up lies.

@@GiantsWS If you're trolling really good job but no way you are lol, when he says "I wish these were peanuts" on his anniversary, he is saying he wishes he could go back to that first time he met her while at the same time fulfilling what he originally said.

The 'jardin' in the cabochons screamed emerald to me. The sugar loaf amethyst also indicated a genuine stone. What a treasure.
They're all real gemstones.

Could easily go to $200K in my view. All real stones. Good history on it. Pleasing to the eye.
The sky is the limit the way I look at it. All that stuff going for it.
Appraisers in general tend toward conservative estimates. Better a client be pleasantly surprised than bitterly disappointed.
I find it quite ugly, but that’s only me 😂
@@voutoo7899 I think it's really ugly too! Beautiful history n' all that, but clunky, gaudy, it does look really fake and "costum-y" and like it would hurt your wrist wearing it.
@@Bulucanagria the expert lady did mention that the one that was nowhere near as good was estimated between 30-35K (iirc) and sold for a hundred grand so if she followed similar logic could be a half a million!

I would never sell it but someday pass it on along with the history. I love watching Helen Hayes movies and to know that she is in your family is wonderful.

She did talk about it quickly but it was a friend who thought they were fake and then a different friend she showed a picture of it to who said they thought the stones were real and they'd give $1,000. Good thing she didn't sell it that's for sure.
Could've been a possible scammer. So if things go bad for her. She a $100,000 to $150,000 safety net.

her hand was shaking a lot when she was using the pointer. i knew the number was going to be special before that, but when i saw that pointer bobbing all over the place i knew this was something she'd never even seen before.
Wish the experts would handle the treasures. They do in the UK, so you get to see the whole piece front & back. Also shows how things work ie opens/ closes.
