This was absolutely outstanding, I haven't forgotten it ever since I first heard it on the BBC. I can't believe I have missed this being available, I did search for it after I heard the broadcast.
I was skeptical...but this is absolutely spot on. I'm not a fanatic with this Bladerunner stuff...but this pretty much bridged the gap between the book and the movie and took it somewhere else...even the music...this wouldn't have been a cheap production. Amazing and thanks BBC4 and all you license payers hehehe but yes so very good.
Scientology is fiction. SUV's first appeared in the Cursed Earth. I saw a guy with ripped ear lobes on the train last week....Ugly...2000AD....Come on...why we have to wait for the predictions to come true...this one's all about keeping it perfect...Thanks.
I think the book and the film Blade Runner are both equally as good as each other. Basically the differences are what make each as good as the other as they are different enough to both stand on their own. I love radio drama and this is an unexpected bonus Thanks for the upload.
Yea, agreed. I like all 3 also. Bladerunner cuz it's Bladerunner, Dreams cuz it's just mind-blowing that it was written when it was written & this audio drama is just such a nice little chestnut.
I think it’s a mistake to compare the different mediums...apart from the fact they can be completely different interpretations, the audiences can vary dramatically...we should all be grateful we can access whichever version is to our individual taste...Compare & contrast but who are we really to judge? Thanks for the FREE upload
This was playing while i was sleeping. And the entire time i was thinking to myself, is this "do androids dream of electric sheep"? And i wake up to this! Praise!
People who appreciated this might also like the earlier BBC radio adaptation of Neuromancer, available on UA-cam: ua-cam.com/video/S89BHnaxULo/v-deo.html
It’s a brilliantly layered classic novel, but the part where Pris and Roy cut the legs off the spider demonstrates exactly why the replicants have to be retired. Mistreated and enslaved, they still have no real empathy or remorse - their creator’s fault. Plus, they’re basically threatening a mentally disabled guy... Pretty freaking cold. Huge James Purefoy fan. Great adaptation, covered all the thematic nuances of PKD.
I really am enjoying this dramatization, I can see some of the foundations for Blade Runner.
3 роки тому+1
Foundations? It's basically the same... Ridley Scott gave his cinematic touch and made it into a classic! I thank Ridley every time I watch it, and I've been watching it for the past 30 + years! ❤️ And I'm enjoying every minute of this radio drama!
Can anyone tell me where I can buy or obtain a high quality version of this wonderful audio drama? its my favourite ever made and I just want to listen to it as intended. I've listsned to this version on youtube about 20 times. There is part one in high quality on soundcloud, but I'd happily pay for a copy of this. Any ideas??
check audible they have most of the BBC radio dramas, at least the popular ones and the ones with popular actors. They have a bunch of other versions of Dick's books too that I think u will like. xoxo
This is faithfull to the book , so much more than Blade Runner movie. The omissions , such as his wife and the mercerism aren’t missed .the ending is very different but I think I prefer this ending, oh he wants a pet monkey instead of a goat
WOW really Like this ... just to let some People Know this Is Not Ridley Scotts Movie Version.. this is Right ( strait ) from the Book its a Radio Play Adaption same as like the Old Time Radio Play Enactments before Television ( before 1950s ) became Popular .. Ive Seen a Movie ( John Carpenters ) Escape from New York Version. ... I would think PDK would be Proud of what was Done with this Radio Adaptation
Wow, absolutely superb! By FAR the best adaptation. A combination of these audio and tv drama’s are the best argument for the BBC licence fee and perhaps we can look the other way to their obvious left-wing bias (irrespective of their oath under the charter 🙄).
Blimey! How good was this? Thanks for posting this James. I got into Philip K Dick after seeing Blade Runner. Although the film isn't quite faithful to the book it's still one of my favourites (films that is). Thanks again. Bye the way; I haven't read the book in a long time. Is this radio adaption fairly close?
Game, Movie and Audio adaption in english, spanish and german i have followed. I regret to say from the audio adaptations i only really like the german one, but thats maybe only cause of being german. But this version is double as long as the other in spanish and german. The man voices are kind of sickish (guess it`s due to the contamination in Los Angeles 2019, so it's realistic. :D)
Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner" was based on the 1968 novel, *"Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep"* by Philip K Dick. You must be the only person on the planet who doesn't know that.
why are those stupid actors on the cover when they have nothing to do with the original and clearly suck in comparrison. Anything besides the actual book and the ONE AND ONLY movie based on androids dream of elextric sheep is AKA BLADE RUNNER ( the movie version) from the 80's . These actors are a sad and sorry ass excuse for the REAL actors many years ago. These way uglier and less talented people playing parts of which are way above their heads in terms of intellect and axting abilities , not to mention theyre even less attractive and captivating than then the original which always happens these days. Blade runner - sean young , harrison ford- anything else is a farce
There are a number of adaptions of this story. I keep coming back to this one. I think it is my favorite
This was better than a “Real” movie ...nothing better than imagination
"He isn't really you're uncle." Ha ha. This and the neuromancer bbc radio play are absolutely amazing. Thank you for the upload!
Also my two favorites
January 3rd, 2021 is the day that "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep" takes place on.
I FEEL SAD. Because I think I just heard the BEST radio drama I'll ever here. I cried. Just amazing . 🖤
Aaaaw 🤗 Because of your comment I’ve added this to my night time listening 👍🏻
@Gary Higginson “Deckard”
Solaris is absolutely fantastic radio drama,I’m sure you will really enjoy it 😊
This was absolutely outstanding, I haven't forgotten it ever since I first heard it on the BBC.

BBC usually nails it! Bravo!
I'm enjoying every minute of this radio drama adaptation! 📻 🎵 It reads Blade Runner all over it! 💕
It is blade runner

Good comment Foxie. Rodimus; I know this is eight months late, but you are a total tool.

This was a fantastic adaptation!
I love this 👌
Hearing james passionate sultry soothing voice & accent to relaxing 😳❤
this is actually very good. very cool
This is awesome, loved it!
This is great
Brilliant adaption ...
THIS IS AMAZING
this is REALLY Xcellent
Some unmistakeable voice actors on this one -- Nicky Henson (RIP) and Anton Lesser, amongst others. Good stuff.
Great work!
Great 1968 music, from the year of the novel’s publication, really sums up the counter-culture vibe around the book.
Thank you cheers
I enjoyed this very much. Thanks for lading it !
I love
James has such a lovely voice. 😍
Very engaging.
Very enjoyable. Great drama

“Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Sounds just like a line, straight out of 'Ruby: A Galactic Gumshoe', quoted by the Android Sisters.
Wish we got more :(

Author Philip K. Dick was an ABSOLUTE genius~WHAT an astonishing imagination‼️WOW🤖👍🏾🖖👾💕🌠👽👌🏿🚀⭐️☄️
Philip K Dick's book is fantastic!! Listen to the X-minus one- (a 1950's show!) -version, its truly spellbinding!!!
Do Androids... is from '68, was x minus one still going then? It might have been another radio show. I'd love to hear it though.
a classic.love it!
kudos..
Is theyre more adaptions or stuff from these writers? This was Amaze balls

truly a sad story
The title should be 'Do insomniac androids count electric sheep'. Humans aren't said to dream of sheep, they are said to count them when can't sleep.
But in this future humans dream of animal companions. Not about trying to sleep.
You did some very fine acting in the mini series Rome. Good job. :-)
Lately Mr Purefoy''s moved on from Replicant cop
to become a replicating millionaire in Altered Carbon.
yep & isn't he great in Alt.Carbon too?
"HE DA MAN" ain't he? TOP TOP Thespian

hey thats bancroft from altered carbon!

Do you enjoy hurting people?
Too many ads after 11 minutes abandoned 👂
Maybe a link to the script??
Didn't he find a frog at the end of the book? This ending seemed different to me?
it was a toad not a frog.
So sad,, very good tho
Nice use of Aphex Twin.

what a terrible American accent there James purefoy.

Cheap rip-off of Blade Runner.
