Sadly only the first four films, on her majesties secret service, the living daylights, and Casino Royale have anything to really do with the novels they are based on.
@@mohammadmostafa9215 I actually said that. I said “only the first four films, on her majesty’s secret service l, the living daylights, and Casino Royale have anything really to do with the novels they are based on” the first four films are Dr No, from Russia With Love. Goldfinger and Thunderball
I love the Bond Series.... all things Bond. However... the books did make me view the films are cardboard comics into relationship to Fleming himself. Most certainly should, all the candid moments of Bond are what makes these stories.... a Television show would give us an opportunity to slow down stop relying on the "shaken not stirred" and cheekie jokes. My favorite element of this novel (unsure if it's in this adaptation) is Bond in the office on the graveyard shift reading over a desk lamp.

James Bond is not my type of audio podcast to listen to however i was pretty impressed with this, maybe due to the cast or the story, either way i certainly enjoyed it. Another one that i have also been surprisingly hooked onto is Sherlock Holmes on Podbean, brilliant, some great stories and we'll worth anybody time
I rode bike 11 miles at 11 years old to see the first 3 (and by far best) bond movies (w/o parents' knowledge). I'm as nostalgic as anyone. These were always fun. That said, it must be admitted (at 68) that there's a lot that's really dumb about this story (and this radio production). Still listening to them all, anyway. :-)
Toby Stephens and Sir Ian McKellan, the two sexiest blokes on the stage. BTW, Stephens is the best Bond... he was brilliant as the baddie in the one with Madonna, but he should have been the screen Bond.
Try comparing Stephen's excruciatingly mannered delivery with McKellen's effortless masterclass .? Still , he is good looking which is apparently all that counts nowadays.
@@2msvalkyrie529 They’re playing two completely different characters. To be so dismissive is a bit short-sided, and saying, basically, at least he’s pretty is just really condescending. He’s an incredible actor in his own right. His portrayal of Captain Flint in Black Sails is possibly the best long-form acting I’ve ever seen. He would’ve made a brilliant Bond, had he not played Graves.
I am not author enough to write a thrilling & believable `Fort Know Heist´, but that may stem from me having dreamed about such to resolve my RL poverty issues. 🤣
Yes, it is very accurate. There is obviously more detail and depth of character in the book but these BBC James Bond radio plays are all pretty decent and faithful adaptations of the source material.
Hilariously camp portrayal of Goldfinger, even continuing to call him "Mr Bond" whilst being throttled to death. McKellen still excellent in the role, though.
Is it sad that not only do I prefer a dirtier, ruthless, mercenary Bond as a spy, but that I'm hoping, being only ten minutes in, that after Bond has recounted having met Goldfinger, I want his Control to insist on the correct disclosure forms being done?! That I like tedious realism as well as a good story?! And that I certainly don't like cheesy Hollywood glossiness and all that style!?
So the voice of Gustav Graves along with his wife, his voice of Gandalf the Grey from the Hobbit franchise & her voice of Miranda Frost have live to Die Another Day. Anyone else?
Haha, it really dates all this, the gold standard still applying, 20 million pounds being a sum that gets the British security services worried, etc! These days 20 million is nothing, both numerically, and, materially, nothing.
And that Odd-job is "one of three" blackbelts in the world in a little known martial art, Karate! And I'm sure there will be countless others too tedious to list
I've noticed these adaptations cut out the worst of Fleming's prejudice. In the novel, DuPont mentioned that his hotel was "restricted". That was a polite way of saying "No Jews allowed".
Chauvinistic and fairly useless Bond, allowing 2 dead females and the language "run youfool"etc, unconvincing .plot and acting . McKellen shot himself through the foot with this garbage, didn't realise what a poor writer Fleming was.
Toby Stephens was a great choice for the James Bond voice. Ian McKellen as Goldfinger was played superbly.
This ensamble is way better that any cast put on the Bond films. It’s just too good to be true!
That time when Gustav Graves and Miranda Frost from _Die Another Day_ played James Bond and Pussy Galore in the radio adaptation of _Goldfinger._
Perfect audio.
Thanks for the upload.
Now to find Shirley Bassey singing "Goldfinger" to make the ninety minutes complete.!!
You're welcome😄

This makes me think the novels would adapt better into a tv series on HBO or Netflix.

Sir Ian McKellen did a great job voicing Goldfinger and did just as good Great Frobe as well if not better.
Gert Frobe was dubbed😎

Like this? Check out Toby Stephens in the BBC radio series on Philip Marlowe
His Marlowe is even worse than his Bond - difficult to believe .!
Can only assume he knows all
the right people at Beeb.
What a cast, as said elsewhere here, much better than any of the filns, and Toby Stephens IS James Bond
totally agree with you there
It's incredible. He didn't work as a goofy villain in Die Another Day, and now we see why; he's a better Bond!
