Pirc defence
This one is very helpful.. Scandinavian plss
Queen's Indian Defense.
@@farouqbaiti4315 it's actually kings Indian defence right?
I like your quick pace that then covers LOTS of ground, instead of deep on a few lines and all the rest unaddressed. I will study multiple times because I play the Caro alot.
By far the best Caro-Kann video. on UA-cam that I've seen. Thanks for this!
Yes he makes each move crystal clear
He probably made this video because he won with the Tartakower just recently
What a nonsense comment. Make a UA-cam video yourself if you're good enough.
@@csmuehlenberglmao, you good? I don’t think you understand what the comment is saying 😂
It would be cool if you made a French defense video because it’s quite similar to the caro! Anyways this video is freaking amazing, basically a free Caro-Kann repertoire!!! Added a new tool to my arsenal!
Thanks a lot bud, really appreciate the quality and effort!
French is shit
The Caro-Kann has a more active white bishop compared to the French defense, with that you lock in your white bishop, and you get similar positions with the slav defense as with the French and always the weak white bishop tends to be the problem.
You're such an underrated dude . Honestly you explained the defence very well and add lot of lines . Thank u bro 👏👏
I thank you, good sir, for uploading a video teaching the caro kann and variations against each response.
I would just like to thank you for making this video . All the time and effort . Really appreciated. I think it’s brilliant. Easy to learn this way with the graphics there with all the different names to see all the time . Really good. Thoughtful idea . Definitely a talented teacher . I’ve seen the kings gambit also and was the first opening I ever learned and I am still learning it but your video has helped me to plug the holes so to speak and again the graphics on the side are amazingly helpful to do this .
So Thankyou for your time and effort. Your a clever guy . ( Englishman York )
what a great video, fantastic. Thank you. I did subscribe Look forward to all your videos. Again thank you
You way of explaining, over the top. Great.
Love this guide, I keep coming back to review lines
These videos are off the charts excellent!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you very much for the complete Caro kann guide.
Another line against the Two Knights, if you play the Tartakover against the main line, is 1.e4 c6 2.Nf3 d5 3.Nc3 de 4.Ne4 Nf6. It is good to have backup/alternative lines when you are in a tournament.
There's also a different brilliant idea in the tartakower, where you can play bc7 then qd6, and if they have played g3 and h3, then you can play rook takes bishop on e3 and the f pawn is overloaded protecting the g pawn and bishop
Bro after a long time, good to have you back
thanks for this video. i want to learn caro-kann and you explained many variations.
You're my new favorite chess UA-camr guides. I love your Vienna video it made me play that
Great video! Thank you.
Thank you for sharing this great defense, I see that at some point becomes the French defense.
Thank you bro well today is my tournament I learn the caro kann from your video
wonderful presetation.. kudos
At 37:05 instead of 8. Bc4 a series of 'must know moves' seems to occur after 8. e5 Ng4 9. e6 Bxe6 10. Bc4 Bxc4 11. Qxg4 Na6.
I have won twice with Black recently against the Hillbilly Gambit. Wikipedia says it tends to be played by people unfamiliar with the Caro-Kann, and I agree.
Almost at 100k views, congrats!
9:19 getting their queen in the way🎶
Good information!
Watched every line. Will mix up moves and move order 👍
Superb Caro-Kann vid!
Thank you so much. I also really like your line in the exchange and advance (when they take on c5). However, what should i do in the exchange when they push h3.
12 minutes in, but I love this video. I found you from your shorts! btw, can you add the notes or PGN of this video in the description?
If you check the description, I have the links for my Chess.com analysis boards, one for each variation. You can copy the PGN from there if you'd like!
@@Volclus Thanks!
thank you
The most OP formation in chess comes out of the Tartakower Caro-Kann.
The P A W N C U B E
excellent! this is probably better than pirc
I'm 2k and this seems to be an interesting opening, I may learn this as a secondary
whats your primary ?
@@TheDa6781 I just play e5 in response to e4.
It can lead to fun games.
Thank you
Nice video
very gooooooood
Can you do a brief look into the Icelandic gambit?
Helpful.
thanks
It would be cool if you made a French defense video because it’s quite similar to the caro! Anyways this video has changed my opinion on the caro thanks a lot bud!
Very nice video...
Please upload png too
Easy to prepare notes for players.
Thankyou
Good luck
Hello volclus please make more masterclass vids on openings please where you cover all the usual moves
It’s scary for black to play F6 because it weakens the E6 pawn. If E6 falls black’s game is lost. Maybe it’s the best engine move but engines don’t get flustered.
As white i strongly suggest after 1) e4-c6 2) c4 . Best option for white is the accelerated panov attack. As Karpov often played.
I guess, but does the isolated pawn not bother you a bit?
I had the Rasa-Studier Gambit listed as being called the Blackmore Deemer Gambit. When did that get renamed and why? also recently found White play Bc4 in exactly the same spot called the "von Hennig Gambit" (recently played against this wierd one)
Best chess teacher ever.
Since switching to the Caro ans kings indian defense as black, my elo has shotup 400 points in under 3weeks.
Thanks bro I'm gonna beat this dam computer
Hi , can you tackle a variation, when im trying to go for the tartakower, some of my opponent don't takes the knight and just play Qe2.
35:47 isn’t there bg4 instead of long castles?
What is your recommendation against the Goldman attack? Do you have a video on it?
I don't, but it is rare and decently strong. I'd recommend to play dxe4, followed by Nf6, Nbd7, and e6.
Thank you!
Imagine playing a brilliant move on the second move
at 9:08 what about pawn a4 after Bb5?
👏👏👏
While I wouldn't say it is unbreakable, I often win with the Caro-Kann when playing Black.
Imo, the best defence is offence in an open game - 1…c5. 1…c6 invites to a closed game that goes on and on. Just my take after 20+ or so years playing the sicilian.
Sir can you pls do petroff main limne.
3...Bf5 is far and away the move to consider as the main line in the advance. Certainly c5 is a great option but I wouldn't present this as the main line.
I'm tired of Playing French defence and wanted a new opening for black .. guess carokann is a good option
In the 2knights part: "We will then go c5 defend our Center develop our knight and castle safely" Lmao yeah very safe king black. Definitely white would not play g4 f4 f5 and storm black. (Yes engine users that position is still minus but short castle is definitely not the plan. The king most of the time stays in the center) Also this is actually exactly why the Nf6 moveorder is considered slightly inaccurate (e4 c6 Nc3 d5 Nf3 Bg4 h3 Bxf3 Qxf3 Nf6 (e6 is the quote unquote Best moveorder) The knight generally develops to e7 in these structures and black relies on quick play in the queenside. For example e6 d3 Nd7 Bd2 d4 Ne2 Qb6 O-O-O a5 where blacks plan rely on a4 a3, trading the dark squared bishop with Bb4 and Nc5.
37:40 how can you long castle with bishop attacking one square in the way??
As long as the king doesn’t go over that square, castling is legal
@@Zork2478?? It dont work that way? Rules say no sq between the 2 pieces aka king & rook should be under attack! So castling isn't possible
@@casualgambit674 nope. Castling is legal since the king is NOT going over the square. Check the rules if you still have doubts
@ 7:14 when the bishop pins the black knight, why not just go Qa5+ and then pick up the bishop?
Nc3, the bishop is protected, you let white develop, and your queen is worthless on a5
I tried it on low rated opponents and they tried to play scholars mate ☠️
How do you get that coloured board?
Icy Sea Board, along with the Neo pieces
@@devadutthansn3670 No he had a red board in the beginning
Whats this guys rating or title?
2100 online I think
In minute 37.43 black can't castle long side because bishop in f4 cut the line
Long-castles is a perfectly legal move there, the bishop controlling the B8 and C7 does not stop long-castling.
17:40
I'm a trash 900 elo player, but help me understand this.
@ 7:18 you play Knight to E7. Why not just play Queen to A5 to check the king and take their free Bishop?
Nc3, he protects his bishop and you helped white develop while your queen is worthless on a5
Because of Nc3
how do you remember all these variations ? Seems impossible. And this is just one openning.
It's more so gathering ideas. The exact moves don't matter as much as the corresponding plan, and just playing games is the best way to do that, along with looking at the theory.
I think you made a mistake in 37.43, where you long castle but logically you can’t and that’s illegal.
Nope. The king never went over that square so the move is completely legal.
Ailen gambit join the chat
very complicated opening wow.

Caro Can't
Your commentary and video presentation are far too fast for any beginner to comprehend.
I just learned chess and became intermediate player in 2~ months learning it on and off and this is best speed for me as I have already learned this opening! , so I suggest you too learn the opening and play it a lot, and then come for this video to correct your mistakes. English isn't even my 5th best language but I still started to understand him after sometime cause I got used to his voice, dont worry you can do it too! BUT you are right he could speak a bit slow at around 0.25x speed slower at least so everyone can understand it more clearly. If not, then you can follow my experience and hope it helps ❤
Repent for your sins and believe in the Lord Jesus now he is coming
What's with the obsessively choppy vocal rhythm? Relax. Speak in sentences.
Why do you have a lock on saving your video to my list ,
you know people bookmark and save good videos to review. I thumb you down
I am 1600 rapid dont really play the caro against 1e4.I rarely even see the caro at this level.most of the people go for the kings indian. That said development in the caro might become tricky at higher levels but still a great opening till 1400-1500
All opening require more as you climb the rating ladder, but the Caro-kann is not a dubious opening. I still play it with high success at around 2100, and it is still played at master level.
Maybe back in the day. People are all Chess Masters these days 🤦♀️🤷🤣🤣🤣
Im 1550 & literally only play caro kann against e4, & have pretty good success with it. It just generally results in me winning the centre & getting a better endgame (that being said I also kinda suck at endgames so lol)
yo dude, gms play caro, it’s great, also 1500 and playing it normally
