  • We headed out to catch some amberjacks and just have some fun. Every amberjack that we hooked was eaten by a big shark. Josh became very frustrated and dropped a bait to catch the shark. After a short period, Josh hooked a giant shark. It was a very strange fight. After a 20 minute fight, a monster bull shark surfaced! This is the largest bull shark that Josh has ever caught, a personal best record! The estimated weight was around 600lbs! The shark was released.

    That was one massive bull shark! I'm new to shark fishing and I just picked up an airwave trophy series, 6'6" 30-80lb line/ 1-8oz lure, rod and an Avet MXL reel from tackle direct that i love. Is this combo suitable for targeting medium sized black tips from the beach or do you think I would need a longer/more powerful rod? Thanks! love your videos!

    • @BlacktipH
      @BlacktipH  9 років тому +3

      618 Fishing That should work. Spool your reel with 50lb Bullbuster braid. A longer rod will help you cast further. If you have a kayak or if you are using live bait, you won't need it.

    • @618Fishing
      @618Fishing 9 років тому

      ***** Thanks for the reply man. I am planing on catching ladyfish for bait and using a kayak to take it out past the second sand bar. Do you kayak your baits out after it gets dark or do you switch to a longer rod and cast from shore?

    wow! nice work! that's some serious shark fishing there. I've heard they will act strangely when hooked, sometimes stopping here and there like they don't want to be bothered with the fight. A 200+ pounder was hooked by rod and reel in Chesapeake Bay many years ago and supposedly took all night to land it because they weren't expecting it . Nothing like those monster bulls down in Florida though !!

      Most shark fishermen use hooks that will rust out (non stainless steel) and clip them. This is usually safer for the fish and the angler.

      Jace gaming if u look at the side near the end when they're putting him back, you can tell its a bull. I could see why you thought white. Bulls dont usually get that big. That's a rare find, nvm catch.

    • @EthanWhateley
      @EthanWhateley 5 років тому

      first of all, when it surfaces, you can clearly see the bull snout, so big it looks like a Tiger at first. Great Whites have more pointed narrow snouts. Secondly, the pole didn't snap and line didn't break because the guy fishing knew what he was doing.

    When I was twelve years old, my father got me this boat and I went fishing off of Cape Cod. And I hooked a scup. And as I was reeling it in, I hooked a four and a half-foot baby thresher shark who proceeded to eat my boat. Ha, ha. He ate my oar, hooks, and uh, my seat cushions, he turned an inboard into an outboard. Scared me to death. And I swam back to shore. And when I was on the beach, I turned around and I actually saw my boat being taken apart! Ever since then I have been studying these terrific animals.

      Depends on where you are. Florida, probably but the rest of the world is common for adults to be 18ft+, with some of the largest being close to 25ft. Plus 15ft is the average of a male. Females get a lot bigger than that. Plus full grown great whites are 1500lbs+
