They definitely have some degree of conscience which is mostly unnecessary in encounters with members of their same Phylum but especially cartilagineous fish (e.g. sharks, rays etc.) seem to be very aware of their surroundings.
It is never a good idea for a wild animal to associate people with food. Considering the fact that playa del Carmen is near Cancun where u have thousands of tourists bathing on a daily basis, it can be an invitation to disaster. You never want a wild animal to lose fear of people.
It' s just not just a couple of people. It's everywhere now and a lot of people are doing it. I dove in Cozmel where divers had been fed the sharks. These divers were lucky that sharks were not in a feeding frenzy. I20n 1966 I rode a small landing craft which ferry between some islands in the South Pacific. When we dumped the barrack garbage barrels into the ocean there were more than 30 White Tip, Blue and Tiger sharks chasing our boat to swallow all the garbage. Foods, woods, paper, bags, etc. were all swallowed in the feeding frenzy. Can you imagine a human fall overboard with the garbage ? Wild sharks are like wild hyenas, when they are hungry, all creatures are food.

Another awesome video, thank you to Jonathan and the crew! I can't get enough of this stuff. It's always amazing to watch humans and sea life interacting.
I wonder if the perception that sharks are dangerous stems from that fact that we, as humans, feel very vulnerable in the water. I would love to have a chance to swim with sharks but as I live I'm the north east of England, the only species found in the sea here are drunken Geordies and shopping trolleys.
David, you are near to one of the greatest shark spectacles in the world. The UK has several places (mostly in Scotland) where large aggregations of Basking sharks occur in the spring and summer. I hope to get over there in the not too distant future. Google it!
Oh really? That's awesome. It would be an incredible sight to see. Thank you for informing me. It looks like there is a dedicated website for organising trips in Scotland to dive with Basking Sharks.
Give the shark a little credit, they obviously swim by and get visual confirmation on the presence of fish before coming to get fed, and the only reason they come in the first place is the smell of wounded fish in the water.
I have heard that feeding sharks teaches them to associate people with food and could cause them to lose fear of humans and possibly attack more often. Any truth to this?
Unlikely, does feeding your dog make him more aggressive? The only cases where feeding has led to increased attacks in wild life is when you change the habitat of the animal by overfeeding them near civilization. i.e. all the people who used to feed alligators with chicken right in your backyard in Florida, this of course led to more attacks because more people will coming into contact with the animals In general, with any animal you can think of, acting like prey or or like a threat will you get bitten else they will leave you be.
I swam with bullsharks off Jupiter coast, we were surrounded by at least 15. Feeding them like that, it was best shark swim. Now after being open water certified, I can't wait to go scuba diving with them. 😃🦈🦈
I heard that bull sharks are the most aggressive species and are responsible for most shark attacks. I thought maybe they were named bull sharks because they charge like a bull.

@@sharpemang maybe because great white are easier to identify in the ocean and it seems that there more of the great white than there are bull sharks I don't know I don't really know that much about sharks
@@RebelRoseJade Great Whites, Hammerheads and Whale Sharks are pretty rare according to some of the nature shows I was watching. Bull Sharks I know for a fact aren't rare and people always confuse them with Great Whites. I went Shark watching off the coast of Rhode Island and the fisherman spotted 4 Bull Sharks and kept saying people confuse them with great whites all the time.
This is one of the coolest shark videos I've ever seen. So focused on how cool sharks are, and showing that they're not mindless man eating predators that hollywood and major news networks make them out to be. I cant imagine what the vast majority of plants, animals and insects think about humans..
John ": What drugs are on? Go in the ocean have a long swim see if you get crushed by a vending machine or bitten by a shark, I suggest the waters around Mexico or Austrialia
That's actually true. More people are killed every year by vending machines than sharks. In fact, lighting, stairs, bathtubs, bees, dogs, rhinos and icicles are all much more dangerous than sharks by statistics.
Still a dangerous species. Never panic against them, they are fishes, so they have fish instincts. Reaction strikes happen when they sense lots of movement. This is one of the safest ways for them to identify edible species (as inedible ones generally don't bother running). However, stay too still and they will come check out with a nibbling bite as well (though not a reaction strike, still potentially dangerous).
BlueWorldTV Yes, but what would you do if a huge swarm of bull sharks showed up? It happened with lemons while you were waiting for a tiger to show up (close call there too, as some tried to bite your camera). Bull sharks seem a little too dangerous to approach, and having them show up in large numbers is nightmare fuel!
I used to live in Key Largo, and one of the 2 reasons for not swimming right off the shore?....bull sharks (the second reason is crocodiles). One story was of a man standing in chest deep water, and the bull shark hit him hard enough to knock him down, then it attacked. I did a natural (nonfeeding) shark dive by Bimini, and one of the regulars was a 12 foot bull shark. Impressive. They have big barrel chests (like a bull).
i Gameplay Bull Sharks are territorial and don't like trespassers. These people were intelligent enough to take an offering. Sharks are also smart, they like food and if it's on offer without the hunt they will allow those divers to share their space. Nobody says no to a free lunch lol.
TheCreeperHood77 YT did u watch this video? They fed the sharks and didn’t panic they were friendly to the sharks so that’s y the sharks didn’t attack them cuz they didn’t panic

@@sharpemang Not sure! Probably just to fictionalize the story. Apparently, the attacks of 1916 were bull sharks and inspired the movie.
Another fun fact. Sharks were considered non aggressive to humans, until the NJ shark attacks. The reports were then altered to say otherwise.
This is one of the coolest shark videos I've ever seen. So focused on how cool sharks are, and showing that they're not mindless man eating predators that hollywood and major news networks make them out to be. I cant imagine what the vast majority of plants, animals and insects think about humans..
When the camera snapped a pic & he shot it with that spear gun, all I could think was "ur in trouble now!!" but it returned for more fish!! Amazing!!
I remember this video so well, this man made my entire childhood. Thank you,
Love watching these videos late at night when i'm in bed, so interested in the underwater world! Amazing again Jon.

I couldn’t do this bc I get freaked out if I see a fish in the lake while I’m swimming
That's incredible that they know you're feeding them and they keep coming around...
One channel that was with me during my shark obsession years ago, it’s nice to go back and watch this.
After long time watching again. . Loved it
I love your videos there both educational and awesome

You know what would be a great title name for a series "Jonathan Bird: A Birds Eye View" 😂👏🏼👏🏼 🤗
they're so darn adorable
I just had to come back! I remember watching this on my mothers phone as a 9-10 year old. I’m turning 17 this year. Thank you for entertaining me 🥹
Welcome back!
Did you know that you are more likely to die from a vending machine attack than from a shark falling on you?
John ": What drugs are on? Go in the ocean have a long swim see if you
get crushed by a vending machine or bitten by a shark, I suggest the
waters around Mexico or Austrialia
Holy crap, you have no sense of humor.
Glen Olson Nah its true actually.
That's actually true. More people are killed every year by vending machines than sharks. In fact, lighting, stairs, bathtubs, bees, dogs, rhinos and icicles are all much more dangerous than sharks by statistics.
BlueWorldTV And that's because most people stay out of shark waters
Still a dangerous species. Never panic against them, they are fishes, so they have fish instincts. Reaction strikes happen when they sense lots of movement. This is one of the safest ways for them to identify edible species (as inedible ones generally don't bother running). However, stay too still and they will come check out with a nibbling bite as well (though not a reaction strike, still potentially dangerous).
Everyotheryoutuber Always be careful and respectful of any shark. They all can bite. Just like a dog can bite.
BlueWorldTV Yes, but what would you do if a huge swarm of bull sharks showed up? It happened with lemons while you were waiting for a tiger to show up (close call there too, as some tried to bite your camera). Bull sharks seem a little too dangerous to approach, and having them show up in large numbers is nightmare fuel!
turtles is not fishes, they're hard shelled animals that live on land and water!
Everyotheryoutuber Ok, so don't move, but also don't stay still. Gotcha.
Your are right man!!!!!💌💌💌💍💍💍💍💍💍💍💎💎💎💎😄😄💍💍💍💘💘💘😂😂😂😂❤️❤️☺️😙😙😊😊😊☺️❤️😍💘💋😄
11:30 haha laughted hard, that looks so relaxed :D
.1yi
Sharks, I love sharks I study about sharks every day I can’t stop them. They’re the most interesting animal I’ve come across and cute sometimes.
I’ve been watching you since I was 5 and now I’m 11
I used to live in Key Largo, and one of the 2 reasons for not swimming right off the shore?....bull sharks (the second reason is crocodiles). One story was of a man standing in chest deep water, and the bull shark hit him hard enough to knock him down, then it attacked.
I did a natural (nonfeeding) shark dive by Bimini, and one of the regulars was a 12 foot bull shark. Impressive. They have big barrel chests (like a bull).
4:40 now the rest of us gets suit up and prepare to die...
lol 😈
I noticed that too 😂😂
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
He said dive
thought the same thing when he said it xD
im became happy when i see this channel. this is my most favorite channel
I love sharks there such beautiful creatures
Not intimidating cos you can see them. Swimming with kids up a river n see a fin and you'll think differently :O
Why are sharks so nice to you and don't do anything at all? Aren't bull sharks very aggressive sharks?
They are not aggressive to divers. When you are down there with them, they think of you as other big marine life.
BlueWorldTV ok
i Gameplay Bull Sharks are territorial and don't like trespassers. These people were intelligent enough to take an offering. Sharks are also smart, they like food and if it's on offer without the hunt they will allow those divers to share their space. Nobody says no to a free lunch lol.
I dunno… If someone gave me good free food, I'd be chill.
TheCreeperHood77 YT did u watch this video? They fed the sharks and didn’t panic they were friendly to the sharks so that’s y the sharks didn’t attack them cuz they didn’t panic
I love your videos!!! I read a lot of shark books and I love learning about them!!! They are pretty much harmless!!!
cute sharks
it would be cute if all of their teeth were taken out and then they would try to bite you. it might tickle
What is your problem, I mean you don´t do that to your dog, so why do you want to do it to a shark, or do you like that someone do that to you? I think you don´t
Ender Gold bull shark’s bite is 10 times harder and worse than the great white
SHARKS ARE DANGEROUS THEY KILLED ME ONCE!
