For some reason I seem to lose your channel and wonder "where's that oke with the small shop and the clever designs?" Glad you hadn't gone missing. You have inspiring work.
Nice work, I like the Drill Stand, you always make all of your projects multi functional and always have me saying "why didn't I think of that" Thank you for the inspiration
I'm just starting on building my small shop, so I'm glad I've had this winter to study a lot of different solutions to how to make a small space practical and functional. Thank you very much 🛠🪚🧰
I just finished up a full teardown, and rebuild of a 1984 Powermatic Model 66 3HP Baldor motor tablesaw with a 72" bessemeyer fence. It was a really fun rebuild, but took a long time! I wire brushed the entire cabinet, repainted it with truck bed liner for lasting results. A great tip is to paint the inside bright white so that if you need to check inside for an issue or cleaning, the white paint will reflect much more light and make it easier to see things with just a simple flashlight. Keep up the great work!
Wrist watch looks really nice. Reminds me of Rolex Autodate or whatever model. You could probably lift both drillpresses at once and swing them like clubs.
This press has worked like a charm for my projects ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxajoEbapTfqWaadnqb04h6U576yxXp-FE . I didn't even secure it to my table top, mainly due to the fact that I was using a 15 lbs drill vise. It's not flimsy at all as to what others have claimed it to be. Make sure the locking nuts and levers are secured and there won't be any issues with light pressure and patience. I was able to drill through aluminum, plastic, and steel (steel took a while) with no problems at all. Yeah it took a little longer than a regular drill press, but I don't have the space OR the money for one.The instruction manual was worthless, but luckily assembling the press was intuitive. However, the manual would be good for ordering replacement parts if needed. There is a nice breakdown of the parts that are included in the kit. Before ordering, make sure it is compatible with your unit, it is clearly stated what models the press is compatible with. This was an excellent purchase for $40!!
Took me nearly 2 days to work out and install castor system. My drill press much bigger so maximise the castor footprint installed foot press on outside of cabinet.
Love the channel and your woodwork is great. What i like most though is your design work and the unseen detail that make such a difference. Well done keep the vids coming!
Love this unit. Wondering if you have plans available for sale on this one. Checked your website, but did not see them. Hope your feeling well. Keep up the great work. You do inspiring works for those of us with small shops to work with
This is my type of carpenter. A little glue weeping out, no problem, clean it with your finger and wipe it on the apron 👍 I'm intrigued by the lumber storage. Looks like a lot of weight and without supports. Love to see how that's done.
One of my favourites... and I like that generally speaking he follows safe working practices. Hearing protection, eye protection, dust mask, guards on the equipment even though it impacts the detail you can get in the videos. As for the lumber storage - I think this video covers the making of it: ua-cam.com/video/6_r93KRQTQw/v-deo.html
People aways overlook the slots in the foot of the press and that the power head can swivel. If you make the cabinet front to back deeper, say 6,8 -ish inches and base base floor past rear panel. The hollow created with various straps or clamps mounting methods for long stock, for end boring long stock by pushing back the press and rotate the head, counter weight in base. Hollow can also store special fences and flat jigs.
Having recently bought a drill press, this design would come in handy. Noticed that you turned your workbench over. I was expecting the planer, when suddently it was tbe mitre saw. Haha 😄
Your work is great. Your energy and the way you get things done is admirable. Time to think about dust collection...all that plywood you work with is filled with toxic glues....save your respiratory system.
Great video! I'm concerned with the amount of weight on the 2 wood pieces holding the entire drill press in the center. Considering they are just plywood, they might split. I think I'll make the drawers in the center permanent to help hold the weight.
i have watched your drill press videos hundreds of times trying to pause and play for every measurement i am trying to recreate this will you please sell me these plans i have purchased others and they are wonderful PLEASE!!!!
I recently added retractable casters to the stand but I posted it as a small shop upgrade because I plan to add the mechanism to all my benches. I will be continuing the build soon. ua-cam.com/video/2kBv6ZztYto/v-deo.html
Another great build Jean, thank you. Looking forward to seeing you complete the Drill stand, but also looking forward to seeing what you do with that Cabinet saw. How's the incorporation of that saw going to affect the overall layout and design of your shop? Regards, Mark
Hi, you are using your router the wrong way. If you use a guide, you should use de round edge of your router and not the flat side. The round side has exactly the same distance at any point the round egde to the middle of the router bit. That way, it doesn't matter if you rotate your router as long as the round edge keeps in touch of your guide. Keep up the good work! Rob
Goeie werk! Wat is die verskil tussen daai drill press van Martlet en sy kleiner boetie teen helfde die prys? Oorweeg om een te kry maar bang ek skiet myself in die voet.. basiese spec is amper dieselfde. Help asb Jean?
Well worth watching, as usual, thanks for sharing. I notice that you have developed the habit of wiping the "crumbs" away with your hand. I live in a country where plywood is not generally available and our panelling is primarily OSB. We learn very quickly that wiping like that is a potentially painful process.
Hi, where do you get your plywood from? Do you live in Johannesburg? Would like to make a drill station too.... and thinking of getting the Metabo KGS 254. Thanks!
For furniture I like working with Kiaat. For outdoor items I like Saligna. I buy these from suppliers like Rare Woods. For shop projects I generally use pine ply or MDF. Buy it from the board Store.
Looking forward to seeing the results Jean, how have you found getting the parts for the watkin tablesaw? Hopefully no problems, but if you do don't forget my offer of help!👍🇬🇧 P.s. I just noticed the amount of subscriptions that you now have, I can't believe how well you've done in the past year or so..Well done mate keep it up!!!
Thanks! I haven't done much on the saw. I got the replacement motor yesterday so I'll be testing it this week. If all good then I'll strip down and start the service repair.
Nice project Jean. You got some new camera equipment right? Just a little feed back for you since you are still getting use to it. The video seemed just a little darker than normal. Also the voice over parts didn't sound as pleasing as the live audio in the shop. Its probably because its different from what I am use to hearing from your videos and the echo the shop adds. You did the voice over in your home verus the shop. Nothing terrible I would still continue to watch. Just wanted you to have the feedback. Can't wait for next part.
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. I changed cameras and actually recorded a lot of this video at night. I have been so busy at work that I didn't have much of a choice. I'm definitely going to be working on improving the overall sound quality of the videos.
Excellent. I just got a new drill press as well. You had the router out, why didn't you rout 2 slots for the shelf, rather than the strips added on? Is it going to carry weight?
I think Jean referred this as being a simplified approach- those cleats don't require a lot if wood and you don't have to fiddle with getting dados routed to a particular depth and width.
To join in to the other response, take a look at the weekend woodworker's BMW Basic Mobile Workbench. You can get plans for free and it's cheap and simple to build
Hello , could I get a set of prints for your Drill press stand? I don't mind paying for them, like the size and would like all dimensions Thanks in advance Antonio
I absolutely love the things you build and subscribed when you started your bitc^en work bench. What I'd love to see is a fire extinguisher, first aid kit and refrigerator, not necessarily in that order.
Hello mate do you offer any of your build plans ? I’ve been looking for a decent channel to help me out with what I need and I found yours I’d gladly pay for your plans there awesome
I noticed that you used the flat edge of the router base against the straight edge. That is a common mistake. If one side of the flat edge of the base pulls off of the straight edge even the slightest fraction, it'll result in having a skewed line. Try putting the rounded edge of the base against the straight edge, it's much more forgiving if the router twists. Nice project though.
For some reason I seem to lose your channel and wonder "where's that oke with the small shop and the clever designs?" Glad you hadn't gone missing. You have inspiring work.
I keep rewatching vids from this build series. One of my favorite workbench builds on YT 🤙🏻
Everything seems brighter when you are around
Nice work, I like the Drill Stand, you always make all of your projects multi functional and always have me saying "why didn't I think of that"
Thank you for the inspiration
Gotta echo that: your videos frequently inspire project ideas for my tiny workshop too!
It doesn't have to be fancy and expensive. The most important thing if it does the job. Love this one. Want to see more like this one. 👍😊

Oh yeah, that's a great idea. I just got a 3Hp single ph replacement motor for my saw.
You should provide plans for your projects. I would buy this one. Great idea and original. Well done.
Was wondering about the table saw but I got my answer at the end :)
Wrist watch looks really nice. Reminds me of Rolex Autodate or whatever model.

It was so satisfying to see how well the dividers section fit when you first put it in. Makes me think you go for more than measuring twice! Lol
Plans ? I like this table.
Seriously love the channel. Setting up my own garage shop and you pile on the inspiration.
Another great video! Keep it up! You have the best “small shop” innovation on UA-cam!

Honestly, I have a rough idea but I kinda underestimated the size of the larger saw. I'm sure I'll make it work.
@@WoodshopJunkies I have absolutely no doubt that you will Jean, looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
Hi. Nice work. You are talking low height of the drill press. What's the height you are trying to achieve?
Once again a great project. Just wondering why you didn’t use your table router with a fence in the beginning?
