Years ago I was involved in a sort of ministry like you men have. I left the Seventh-day Adventist Church at age 20 (I am 66 now). I put up a website several years later, just sharing my own story of leaving the SDAs and growing in my Christian walk in an evangelical church. Then I found a book that was over 100 years old written by a former high ranking SDA that left them and became a successful Baptist pastor. I put a pdf version of that book on my website. This website turned into a similar ministry to your own. I quickly learned that if I ONLY caused people to leave the SDAs I had failed. I needed to lead them to true Christianity.
@@carynmason3421 I am positive there are true Christians within SDAism. Many of them were born again/saved/converted outside that denomination and then became SDAs because someone from that church convinced them their beliefs about the sabbath were true. Also, I believe you can be born again within that denomination, but it is much more confusing if their teaching is the only teaching you ever receive.
I just visited Salt Lake City for a friend's wedding this last weekend. I had come across Pastor Jeff Durbin's street witnessing to Mormon videos and became fascinated yet heartbroken for LDS members. @cindybin2001 that can't be true. LDS hold no regard to the bible because they believe it can't be trusted. They teach that it is mistranslated and therefore can not be trusted. But the LDS church offers no evidence to back up this claim. If you base your claim on Joseph Smith's opinion then you are in error. There is no proof that Joseph Smith was ever a true prophet. His book of Mormon is full of errors. The claims that it makes are proven false. There has never been found any artifacts to support the book of Mormon. Not one. If Joseph Smith was receiving revelation from God then why did he get so many things wrong?
I am currently taking a course entitled Evangelism and Modern Cults and we did extensive study on Mormonism and this conversation was much needed for me.
I’m not anti-Mormon. I’m anti anything that goes against the Bible. Not the Book of Mormon, but the Bible. And there is plenty about Mormonism that goes AGAINST what is taught in the pages of Scripture. I know that a lot of churches and religious organizations do things that go against the Bible and I am against those as well. The Bible is 100% complete and accurate and nothing else is needed in order for us to walk and live like Jesus. Furthermore I wonder if you’ve looked into the life of Joseph Smith and the organization down through the years “? I’m not talking about what’s published on the LDS website and very probably in most of the literature used today but through sources outside of the LDS church? I truly believe the hat you would find yourself shocked and appalled. The same can’t be said for Jesus Christ. Countless people much more learned than you or I have tried to disprove Jesus and erase Him from history and discredit everything He did but there has been absolutely NO success as of yet. The same cannot be said for Joseph Smith and those who came after him. Just something to think about.

12:20 - Post-modernism has impacted ALL denominations of Christianity, not just the LDS Church. Growing up in an Evangelical background, it's amazing on how many people I followed back then either left the faith or at least have "deconstructed" their faith. Let's talk about the area I live in. A town nearby, 10 mins away has 4 mormon churches and a total of 2700 people in the town and maybe 40% are Mormon...why do they need 4 churches? Then our village has 1100 people and 1 church and maybe 60% of the people are Mormon....it's really baffling. And yet we drive 40 mins to go to a reformed church lol

@cindybin2001 they basically understand it. The problem is that there's disagreement and confusion within Mormonism as to what constitutes official LDS doctrine. Young said that any talk he gives, once it is written down and he checks it and sends it out, is equal to scripture.

In Latter-day Saint theology, there were two plans of salvation offered: 1) live on Earth with free will to prove that you can follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ (God's Plan) and 2) live in Earth with no free will, but with a guaranteed ticket to heaven in the end (Satan's plan). With the former, you may not have security, but you have agency. With the latter, you have no agency, but you have security. The return of Jesus Christ is likened to the coming of a thief in the night. Two passages use the wording “a thief in the night”: Matthew 24:43, “Understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into,” and 1 Thessalonians 5:2, “You know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.” But for centuries now Christians have claimed that Christ's return is days away! So maybe Christ is coming like a Senior Citizen using a walker:) I jest. But seriously the honest question for Christians is...How long is a reasonable amount of time to wait until the return of Christ before humanity moves on to actual taking responsiblity to solving world problems without religious input? What about Justice for those already dead. If there is no JEHOVAH ,there is no hope for the living or the dead. Latter-day Saint here! I definitely agree with the sense that, if the Church wasn't true, the only valid Church options would either be Catholicism or Orthodoxy. Protestants are just people who arrogantly assume that all they need to have authority is an opinion on scripture.

What the sectarian churches are really introducing to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Emperor Constantine's concept of the "trinity". This was a concept that organized Christianity had to adopt in order to become a state religion of the Roman empire. In other words, the doctrine of Godhead taught by the Bible had to be replaced by the idea that Jesus Christ prayed to himself and that after his resurrection, he ascended up to heaven with a body of flesh and bones to sit at the right hand of a version of himself that was a sort of cloud without body, parts, and passions. The Emperor Constantine would be proud of concerned Christians today, fanatics whose goal in life is to convince members of Jesus Christ's church that the Father does not have a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man's.
This is so bogus. It would be like someone saying that Mormons believe Moroni is God. No part of what you said is true. You have no clue what the Trinity they believe in is. They do not believe Jesus prayed to Jesus. They believe he prayed to the Father and the Holy Spirit appeared as a dove as do you. They believe the Father has body parts. Moses saw his bottom. They believe the Apostles ate with Jesus and touched him he had flesh and bones. Are there some Christians with strange beliefs. Sure like Mormons. Offering responses in comments sections is potentially obnoxious, which is not my intent. I humbly pray you read this with the spirit it is written. You have a couple misconceptions listed. Christians professed the Trinity before Constantine was born. Christianity didn't become the state religion until 380, 43 years after Constantine died.
Silby 16: The Nicene Creed did not include the Holy Ghost (Spirit) until it was amended in 381 B.C. by the Roman Emperor that succeded Constantine. Nicean Christianity became the religion of the Roman Empire in 380 B.C.
At least the LDS are honest about wanting to be gods. Look at what Christians say: They're going to be spirit beings so some kind of super-human form and ability. They're going to be in heaven with "god". They won't have any pain or sorrow (IOW total environmental control). And they'll rule and reign "with" their "Christ." That's as much as saying "We're going to be gods" without saying "we're going to be gods." Why don't you leave them be in their religion. They won't believe YOU anymore than any of you Christians just believed what I wrote here.

Joseph Smith, Jr. said those of us who have had the ordinance of eternal marriage and live worthy of exaltation will be “gods.” Doctrine & Covenants 132:20 “Then shall they be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from everlasting to everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto them. Then shall they be gods, because they have all power, and the angels are subject unto them?” This is consistent with the Bible. Psalm 82:6 (AKJV) “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.” John 10:34 (AKJV) “Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?” We are the children of the most High! For you to say that Jesus is "The Almighty" is to say the voice from heaven did not know what He was saying when He spoke from heaven. You would be better to leave men's theology and follow Christ only. Only Christ can reveal to you who His Father is (Matthew 11:27). Years ago I was involved in a sort of ministry like you men have. I left the Seventh-day Adventist Church at age 20 (I am 66 now).
I put up a website several years later, just sharing my own story of leaving the SDAs and growing in my Christian walk in an evangelical church. Then I found a book that was over 100 years old written by a former high ranking SDA that left them and became a successful Baptist pastor. I put a pdf version of that book on my website.

I quickly learned that if I ONLY caused people to leave the SDAs I had failed. I needed to lead them to true Christianity.

@@carynmason3421 I am positive there are true Christians within SDAism. Many of them were born again/saved/converted outside that denomination and then became SDAs because someone from that church convinced them their beliefs about the sabbath were true.
Also, I believe you can be born again within that denomination, but it is much more confusing if their teaching is the only teaching you ever receive.

I just visited Salt Lake City for a friend's wedding this last weekend. I had come across Pastor Jeff Durbin's street witnessing to Mormon videos and became fascinated yet heartbroken for LDS members. @cindybin2001 that can't be true. LDS hold no regard to the bible because they believe it can't be trusted. They teach that it is mistranslated and therefore can not be trusted. But the LDS church offers no evidence to back up this claim. If you base your claim on Joseph Smith's opinion then you are in error. There is no proof that Joseph Smith was ever a true prophet. His book of Mormon is full of errors. The claims that it makes are proven false. There has never been found any artifacts to support the book of Mormon. Not one. If Joseph Smith was receiving revelation from God then why did he get so many things wrong?
I am currently taking a course entitled Evangelism and Modern Cults and we did extensive study on Mormonism and this conversation was much needed for me.
I’m not anti-Mormon. I’m anti anything that goes against the Bible. Not the Book of Mormon, but the Bible. And there is plenty about Mormonism that goes AGAINST what is taught in the pages of Scripture.
I know that a lot of churches and religious organizations do things that go against the Bible and I am against those as well. The Bible is 100% complete and accurate and nothing else is needed in order for us to walk and live like Jesus. Furthermore I wonder if you’ve looked into the life of Joseph Smith and the organization down through the years “? I’m not talking about what’s published on the LDS website and very probably in most of the literature used today but through sources outside of the LDS church? I truly believe the hat you would find yourself shocked and appalled. The same can’t be said for Jesus Christ. Countless people much more learned than you or I have tried to disprove Jesus and erase Him from history and discredit everything He did but there has been absolutely NO success as of yet. The same cannot be said for Joseph Smith and those who came after him. Just something to think about.

Let's talk about the area I live in. A town nearby, 10 mins away has 4 mormon churches and a total of 2700 people in the town and maybe 40% are Mormon...why do they need 4 churches? Then our village has 1100 people and 1 church and maybe 60% of the people are Mormon....it's really baffling. And yet we drive 40 mins to go to a reformed church lol

The return of Jesus Christ is likened to the coming of a thief in the night. Two passages use the wording “a thief in the night”: Matthew 24:43, “Understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into,” and 1 Thessalonians 5:2, “You know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.” But for centuries now Christians have claimed that Christ's return is days away! So maybe Christ is coming like a Senior Citizen using a walker:) I jest. But seriously the honest question for Christians is...How long is a reasonable amount of time to wait until the return of Christ before humanity moves on to actual taking responsiblity to solving world problems without religious input? I haven't been able to get an honest answer on this from any Christian...they dodge it with bible verses...rationalizations. I know the question is an uncomfortable one because it makes you question your faith. But for Christianity to be true the return of Christ has to happen correct? The "rapture is coming tomorrow" Christianity (pre millennial) just became popular in the West over the past 100 years or so. Many (if not most) Christians before that were post millennial. Eschatology is a much too complex debate to explain in a comment section, but Christians haven't been saying that for centuries, just most people think that's the only view of end times based on that's what we've experienced in recent history.

1.Humans already take on that responsibility, the return of Christ doesn't require or imply humans don't take responsibility for making the world better. Things like slavery ending in Western countries was pushed and supported by Christians, based on the fact that we are created in God's image and have inherent value and shouldn't be treated like property. God given rights endowed by our Creator come from the Christian worldview, not an atheistic worldview.
2. If we go "without religious input", then the entire question becomes mute. Who cares about 'solving the worlds problems' when we're just random blobs of spacedust? In a Godless, materialist universe, there is no basis for the concept of morality. Morality is immaterial. Atheism is materialist. So "solving the worlds problems? Who cares? We're all just talking monkeys, there's no moral ought that we should improve things, or solve problems. "Right" and "wrong" are just chemical reactions in the brain of an evolved fish aka they're meaningless.
Back to slavery, if we're all just bags of spacedust, who cares about slavery? There's nothing inherently wrong with slavery in an atheistic universe... it's just the strong dominating the weak. Humans don't have any inherent value in a Godless worldview. We're no different than fish or bugs or rocks in the greater scheme of things.

I'm not either, nor would I join either but I'd definitely be a Mormon over a Protestant. No Protestant could ever point me to the One True Church started by Christ in the world today. Are you familiar with the doctrine of these different Churches? I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Our doctrine/scripture is contained in the Standard Works of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Doctrine & Covenants Introduction: “The book of Doctrine and Covenants is one of the standard works of the Church in company with the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon, and the Pearl of Great Price.” Have you read and/or studied all these scriptures? I have for the last 44 years.
I would say that after being raised in a Southern Baptist Church and being a member for 30 years I am familiar with Christianity.
Gospel Topic Essays are not included in the Standard Works of our Church and are not doctrine/scripture. “Dallin H. Oaks explains: "Revelations from God ... are not constant. We believe in continuing revelation, not continuous revelation. We are often left to work out problems without the dictation or specific direction of the Spirit."[14] Thus, the current prophet can clarify, correct or change any previous teachings.[15]

“Heavenly Mother” is not found in the Standard Works of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Individuals may have personal revelations including the leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They are not doctrine/scripture until they are offered to the general membership to sustain (common consent).
Ban on Blacks in the Priesthood: There is no ban on blacks in the priesthood and never was! Where is that ban written in the Standard Works of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? Brigham Young wrote Doctrine & Covenants 136. So, where is there one that declares a ban on blacks in the priesthood?
Homosexuality is a Christian problem if the Christian Church accepts it as normal. Atheism is philosophically untenable. Philosophy deals with knowledge and not subjective beliefs. Agnosticism is at least honest as in, “I just do not know if God exists or not.” Neither is a problem for me personally, I have a firm testimony.

What the sectarian churches are really introducing to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Emperor Constantine's concept of the "trinity". This was a concept that organized Christianity had to adopt in order to become a state religion of the Roman empire. In other words, the doctrine of Godhead taught by the Bible had to be replaced by the idea that Jesus Christ prayed to himself and that after his resurrection, he ascended up to heaven with a body of flesh and bones to sit at the right hand of a version of himself that was a sort of cloud without body, parts, and passions. The Emperor Constantine would be proud of concerned Christians today, fanatics whose goal in life is to convince members of Jesus Christ's church that the Father does not have a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man's.

No part of what you said is true. You have no clue what the Trinity they believe in is. They do not believe Jesus prayed to Jesus. You have a couple misconceptions listed.
Christians professed the Trinity before Constantine was born. Christianity didn't become the state religion until 380, 43 years after Constantine died.
Silby 16: The Nicene Creed did not include the Holy Ghost (Spirit) until it was amended in 381 B.C. by the Roman Emperor that succeded Constantine. Nicean Christianity became the religion of the Roman Empire in 380 B.C.

At least the LDS are honest about wanting to be gods. Look at what Christians say: They're going to be spirit beings so some kind of super-human form and ability. They're going to be in heaven with "god". They won't have any pain or sorrow (IOW total environmental control). And they'll rule and reign "with" their "Christ." That's as much as saying "We're going to be gods" without saying "we're going to be gods."

Mormon "exaltation" doctrine is simply a reiteration of the lie of the devil in the garden: "you will be like God". We are created, not Creator. God is Creator, not created. For you to say that Jesus is "The Almighty" is to say the voice from heaven did not know what He was saying when He spoke from heaven. Christi-anity in inherently false! Why? because the term christ which gets its meaning directly from the hebrew word Messiah which means someone who annointed from above!
The only way to fulfull the meaning of being annointed, is that a higher power annoints someone lower who wouldnt otherwise not be so!
But Christi-anity claims the person they call jesus is alreasy God and is already the creator of the universe in human form.
