Mormons don't need your "evangelizing". They already know Jesus as their Savior. By the way, you can learn a lot from watching General Conference. Church member or not, the speakers talks about a lot of things evangelical Christians can relate to.
@@scottbrandon6244 No they do not know Jesus as their savior. They know a "Jesus" as part of their exaltation. The Mormon Jesus is not creator God. I have family members who are LDS. Their temple recommendation includes that they not associate with people who speak "against" the church. I worry about them feeling compelled to disassociate with me if I offer anything that calls their doctrine to question. Any advice on how to toe that line?
Do you support or promote any teachings, practices, or doctrine contrary to those of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? That’s the exact question. It doesn’t say anything about associating with people that “speak” against the church. The church actually believes that they allow all men to worship God in whatever way they will. They also believe strongly in free choice. I would start by trying to truly understand their position and showing the love of Christ.

The main difference between the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the forty five thousand other differing Christian denominations, is that the Church of Jesus Christ was founded by God, while the forty five thousand others were founded upon differing biblical interpretations by men. When God directed his spirit to visit me in answer to my prayer, I was stirred to a remembrance of him and confirmation that the Missionaries are his laborers. And neither man nor devil can change this truth. I love Gods wisdom.
@@dnzswithwombats Who said anything about "feelings"? I said he stirred me to a remembrance. What that means is that I recognized and remembered Gods spirit. This seems impossible because all my life I never knew him. I didn't even know that God is actually real. And I had never built a belief in him from reading scriptures, because I never went to church or read scriptures. His spirit filled my heart with charity and peace, swept the table of my soul, filled my mind with pure light and showed me heaven open and more of his divine spirit pour out and gather to the missionaries. In point, we all know God, but have all forgotten him. This type of amnesia is part of his plan for our salvation. God is real, he lives, and the LDS Missionaries are his laborers. They really are. Sure on the face they're just rosy cheeked young men and women, practicing their religion and calling. But in spirit and truth, they are laborers of the almighty God. Therefore it is all true, the Bible, Joseph Smith, the BOM, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

It is very difficult to show a Mormon that they have been deceived. Any significant resistance to their message is often construed by them as contentiousness manufactured by Satan. And they are mesmerized by the doctrine of eternal progression, with becoming a God as the ultimate, but according to them, matter-of-fact goal.
BTW Your method of telling us we dont believe in the same Christ and that we are deceived and are going to hell for all eternity if we dont follow your way is the object of fear and not how we determine followers of Christ should be. Your methods are Satanic. When Jesus was tempted by Satan in the wilderness, Satans goal was to make Jesus doubt if He was the Son of God. He wanted Jesus to worship Him for all of the riches in the world. Jesus said get the hence Satan for it is written... Get thee hence Satan for it is written The one who conquers I will grant him to sit with me on My Throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on His Throne.
It is very difficult to show an Evangelical that they have been deceived into believing what Latter-day Saints believe. Any significant resistance to their message received from the counter-cult ministry groups and preachers is often construed as by them to be contentiousness, manufactured, irrelevant, without merit and credibility and arrogantly summarily dismissive. Many Evangelicals are obsessed with their own confirmation bias and prejudices that hold them mesmerized by the hypnotic preaching and messages of those who lie in wait to deceive. Even lacking understanding that Christ himself taught on eternal progression. Paul declaring that we are heirs and joint-heirs with Christ, and many other New Testament passages properly showing this to be Biblical truth.

@@TimothyBerman No one is born a child of God. Everyone is born an enemy of God, dead in their sins and without hope in the world. Romans 8:7; Eph. 2:1 The Bible is clear that all people are God’s creation (Colossians 1:16), and that God loves the entire world (John 3:16), but only those who are born again are children of God (John 1:12; 11:52; Romans 8:16; 1 John 3:1-10). In Scripture, the lost are never referred to as God’s children. Ephesians 2:3 tells us that before we were saved we were “by nature objects of wrath” (Ephesians 2:1-3). Romans 9:8 says that “it is not the natural children who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring.” Instead of being born as God’s children, we are born in sin, which separates us from God and aligns us with Satan as God’s enemy (James 4:4; 1 John 3:8). Jesus said, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me” (John 8:42). Then a few verses later in John 8:44, Jesus told the Pharisees that they “belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire.” The fact that those who are not saved are not children of God is also seen in 1 John 3:10: “This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.” We become God’s children when we are saved because we are adopted into God’s family through our relationship with Jesus Christ (Galatians 4:5-6; Ephesians 1:5).

Unfortunately incorrect on so many levels. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I believe: 1) We worship God the Father in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ. We are not polytheistic. Our primary worship is to God our Father, just as Jesus Christ Christ taught and directed us to do. Jesus Christ, however, has all the characteristics and qualities (being the same in heart, mind, will, power, etc.) as the Father and is indeed the only way to the Father. By worshipping Jesus Christ, we are directed to the Father and to worship Him. This is not polytheism. Polytheism is worshipping different Gods with different qualities, attributes, wills and desires. While we acknowledge first, that Jesus is not the same being or person as the Father, He is a being that perfectly emulates the Father in all things. We even acknowledge that there are more God's than even these, however, we do not ever worship them. We only worship the Father, and the only way to Him is through His perfect Son, who is in total and complete union with Him, that is Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was crystal clear that "For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him" (1 Corinthians 8:5-6) and that we will ALWAYS and ONLY worship God our Father and our Lord, Jesus Christ. 2) We believe that by grace we are saved through faith. Period. But what is grace? What is it? It is defined as "an unmerited gift of the Devine influence working in us and changing our natures, giving us strength to overcome and resist temptation and purifying our minds, hearts, actions and desires." How is grace received? Through Faith! What is faith? Faith is defined in Hebrews chapter 11. Faith is an active belief/hope/trust/assurance in God that gives rise to and power in all of our actions, no matter how menial and inconsequential they may seem. Think about it, why do you do what you do? Because you hope/trust/are assured of something, not yet seen or realized. This is the underlying motivation and driver of all of our actions. Faith, if centered in Christ, then enables His power to be manifest those actions. Read Hebrews 11, it is not a mere passive "belief" only. So faith causes us to act. It is so intimately tied to action and to who were actually are and are actually becoming. But is it the works that actually save us? No! Paul is clear on this. It is connected to how much of the nature of God we have allowed ourselves to be transformed by. It is WHO we actually are and are becoming and how much of the life of God we can actually enjoy. Grace has to be received, and can only be received by true faith. How do we cultivate faith? Be seeking, reaching, believing God. By application and testing of His principles and doctrine. This is how we cultivate real faith. Salvation is not devoid of our own personal effort, however, it is no specific work or amount of works that mean anything if there is no real faith attached to it. What good would baptism be if there was no inner commitment, no true repentance, no change of heart? As joseph Smith put it, "you may as well baptize a bag of sand as a man." Finally, what of the sculpture in 2 Nephi 25:23? What does "all we can do" mean? The book of Mormon answers this question with a group of converts in Alma 24, "“And now behold, my brethren, since it has been all that we could do (as we were the most lost of all mankind) to repent of all our sins…For it was all we could do to repent sufficiently before God" (Alma 24:11-15). What did this people do? They repented (changed their minds and direction they were going) and they decided to make a covenant with God to follow Him. That was "all they could do." It is the same with us. "All we can do" is not some arbitrary measuring line of works. No, no, no, no. All we can do is turn ourselves to God (repent), genuinely seek Him, and make covenants to bind and commit ourselves to Him. Undisputedly, we cannot earn salvation. We can only be saved “in and through the grace of God” (2 Nephi 10:24). But that does not mean that we are saved effortlessly, else God truly would be a "respecter of persons", unjust, unfair and unloving. There are many more things we can go into- but I'll leave it to these two points as they are quite fundamental. 1) We are not polytheistic, though we do believe that God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ are both separate beings, individuals and Gods who are perfectly and totally unified and that 2) That we do indeed believe, and ALWAYS have believed that we are saved by grace alone, through faith in Jesus Christ, but that modern Christianity does not fully understand or teach what grace, faith and salvation actually mean and entail.
Modern Christianity does not worship the LDS Heavenly Father or Christ. You have a counterfeit Jesus, one that never died on a cross. The true Christ claimed to be God. @@jlewis8145 Thank you for your discussion, but how does this reply to the points I made in my comment? I agree with every scripture you have shared. However, I would challenge you at your own claims- they seem to get distinctly into the realm of modalism, which thing is not allowed.
@@chrishumphries7489 I am not a modalist. The Bible teaches that: 1. There is one God. 2. There are 3 persons in the Godhead. Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 3. Each person is God. ***** There is no evidence in the Bible that the LDS Heavenly Father exists. There is no evidence in the Bible that the LDS 'Christ' ever died on a cross. Where does it say that Heavenly Father is an 'exalted man' with a body of flesh and bone that came from another planet, had to work his way to Godhood, lives near a star named Kolob, had sex with his own spirit daughter Mary to conceive 'Jesus,' practices polygamy and damns people who deny the eternal principle of polygamy? That's not the God I worship. The true and living God is eternal- has always been God and never had to work his way to Godhood, is transcendent -spoke the universe into existence including the planets and the star Kolob, created Adam out of the dust of the ground-no wife needed, is self-existent- does not need food, air, water, sex, sleep, shelter, clothing or anything a mere created being would need and is invisible and a spirit. The true and living God would never damn anyone who denied the 'eternal principle of polygamy' and would never destroy any woman who would not go along with her husband's gross immorality. D&C 132:54 When you worship a false god, have a false Christ and believe a false gospel, you will not get into heaven.
@@jlewis8145 I'll reply to each part of your comment: 1) I agree with the three statements above. 2) Evidence in the Bible that Heavenly Father exists: Hebrews 12:9 "Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?" Acts 17:28-29 "For in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’ Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising." The word offspring translated in Greek is 'Genos' which means literal 'offspring' or 'race' or 'kin.' Genos is a very strong and specific word. He was teaching unbelievers that they were indeed the literal offspring, or of the race of God. Interesting that that's the first thing Paul teaches people is that God is our literal Heavenly parent. Psalm 82:6 "Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High." This is the same verse Jesus references in John 10 when being accused of blasphemy by calling Himself the Son of God. Jesus invoked this divine principle in His defense, and was absolutely right. He was the only begotten perfect Son of God in the flesh, but all begotten sons and daughters of God in their spirit. Romans 8:17 "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. 3) The "oneness" of God. Whenever "oneness" is described in the Bible, it is always in reference to unity. The reason that this understanding was corrupted into a Trinitarian definition/view of God likely came from the loss of revelatory leadership and authority in the Church Christ established, as well as the Jews who would mock the Christians by reciting the Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4-9) and saying that the early Christians were not in accordance with scripture. Over time, this likely morphed into the Trinitarian view. The reality is, they are two separate and distinct beings who are perfectly unified. Here are some scriptures to that point: Genesis 1:26 "And God said, Let us make man in our image." Genesis 3:22 "And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil." In Genesis a plurality of God's exist, hence the clear passages given above of one speaking to another. Also, it should be noted that the word "God" is translated from the Hebrew "Elohim" which is PLURAL. If translated properly every time it says God in Genesis, it should read "Gods." This is clearly describing Gods (plural) talking among themselves. Acts 7: 56 "And [Stephen] said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God." How could he see the Son of Man standing on the right hand of God? This implies two distinct, separate beings. John 20:17 "Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God." John 14:20 "At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you." Here is a great verse about "oneness." How can Jesus be in us, just as the Father is in Him? John 17:21"That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us." Here is another great verse about "oneness." Are we all to be the same being in three different persons? Or is the answer far more simple and obvious that this is referring to unity. 4) "Where does it say that Heavenly Father is an 'exalted man' with a body of flesh and bone that came from another planet, had to work his way to Godhood, lives near a star named Kolob...?" Nowhere distinctly. I agree, this is not found in the Bible to me. However, there may be subtle scriptures, John 5:19, "Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise." Jesus can only do what the Father did. So, take a body in the flesh, live in mortality, be resurrected.....etc? Regardless, I am OK with further revelation. With additional prophets (which the Bible clearly teaches, like the two in revelation for example). If you want you can call these specific beliefs extra-biblical. I am fine with that. But for you, who hold so fast the medieval creeds of men to define God, I would challenge that the "Triune God" is not spoken of, nor described in the Bible, and that the declaration of the nature of God that you claim are indeed extra-biblical! "had sex with his own spirit daughter Mary to conceive." Let me stop you right there. I am very tired of this attack. I do not believe it in the slightest. I know exactly were this comes from. Brigham Young stated that the conception of Jesus, though a miracle, was still a natural process. That Jesus truly is a "seed of the Devine" in a literal sense. This is what he said. This is all he said. Makes sense. What frustrates me is when people speculate far and beyond what he said. No, Heavenly Father did not, I repeat did not have relations with Mary. This idea is wrong, offensive and undoctrinal. First, yes, as you pointed out, this would be incest. Second, this would completely destroy the virgin birth of Christ. Mary was a virgin. Period. What Brigham Young was saying was there was an actual pregnancy, that Christ really is the seed of the Devine and the seed of the mortal woman. How that happened? We have no idea. The concept of artificial insemination wasn't even known back then. All the Book of Mormon and Bible say is that the "Holy Ghost overshadowed her." Let's leave it at that. Mary was a virgin and the conception was miraculous. Then end. I will correct any who say otherwise. I will also tell you that the vast majority of Latter-Day Saints believe what I've stated above. You're always going to get doctrinal weirdos in any church. "practices polygamy." No we do not have that in our doctrine. The real answer is 'who knows.' "and damns people who deny the eternal principle of polygamy?" What do you mean by "deny." Prophets thoughout the modern age have been absolutely crystal clear. We will not be required by any means to live this principle and may still attain to a fulness of Glory. However, we MUST accept that there may be some in Heaven who live this principle and that it is of God. Monogamy is the Lord's clear standard, but in rare instances polygamy is instituted (and always for a very short time). Finally, you ended you comment with "belief" and going to Heaven. I would press you on this. There are so many problems with this view of salvation as defined by Martin Luther in 1500 A.D. If you want to discuss the 2nd point of my first comment, I would love to discuss that. God Bless.

McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, 1966, p. 742 -He was conceived in the normal way... "Their testimony is that Mary's son is God's Son; that he was conceived and begotten in the normal way; that he took upon himself mortality by the natural birth processes; that he inherited the power of mortality from his mother and the power of immortality from his Father-in consequence of all of which he was able to work out the infinite and eternal atonement." Bruce R. McConkie, The Promised Messiah: The First Coming of Christ, p.472 -The Son of God in the literal sense... "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints proclaims that Jesus Christ is the Son of God in the most literal sense. The body in which He performed His mission in the flesh was sired by that same Holy Being we worship as God our Eternal Father. Jesus was not the son of Joseph, nor was He begotten by the Holy Ghost. He is the Son of the Eternal Father!" President Ezra Taft Benson, Come Unto Christ, p. 4 -Heavenly Father was the Father of His body... "Now, we are told in scriptures that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God in the flesh. Well, now for the benefit of the older ones, how are children begotten? I answer just as Jesus Christ was begotten of his father ... Jesus is the only person who had our Heavenly Father as the father of his body." Prophet Joseph F. Smith, Family Home Evening Manual, 1972, pp.125,126 -The result of a natural action... “as natural as are the births of our children; it was the result of natural action. He partook of flesh and blood - was begotten of His Father, as we were of our fathers" (Ibid., vol. 8, p. 115) President Ezra Taft Benson -There was nothing unnatural about it... "...I will say that I was naturally begotten; so was my father, also my Saviour Jesus Christ. According to the Scriptures, he is the first begotten of his father in the flesh, and there was nothing unnatural about it." Journal of Discourses, Heber C. Kimball, 8:211 -Same way mortal men are begotten by mortal fathers... “These name-titles all signify that our Lord in the only Son of the Father in the flesh. Each of the words is to be understood literally. Only means only; Begotten means begotten; and Son means son. Christ was begotten by an Immortal Father in the same way that mortal men are begotten by mortal fathers.” Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine,1966, pp. 546-547 -Not begotten by the Holy Ghost... (This contradicts Luke 1:35) "When the virgin Mary conceived the child Jesus, the Father had begotten him in his own likeness. He was not begotten by the Holy Ghost" Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 1, p. 50 -Instead of letting any other man do it... "When the time came that His first-born, the Saviour, should come into the world and take a tabernacle, the Father came Himself and favoured that spirit with a tabernacle instead of letting any other man do it. The Saviour was begotten by the Father of His spirit, by the same Being who is the Father of our spirits." (Ibid., vol. 4, p. 218) -Associated together in the capacity of husband and wife... "It was the personage of the Father who begat the body of Jesus; and for this reason Jesus is called 'the Only Begotten of the Father;' that is, the only one in this world whose fleshly body was begotten by the Father.. The fleshly body of Jesus required a Mother as well as a Father. Therefore, the Father and Mother of Jesus, according to the flesh, must have been associated together in the capacity of Husband and Wife; hence the Virgin Mary must have been, for the time being, the lawful wife of God the Father. God having created all men and women, had the most perfect right to do with His own creation, according to His holy will and pleasure: He had a lawful right to overshadow the Virgin Mary in the capacity of a husband, and beget a Son, although she was espoused to another; for the law which He gave to govern men and women was not intended to govern Himself, or to prescribe rules for His own conduct. It was also lawful in Him, after having thus dealt with Mary, to give her to Joseph her espoused husband. Whether God the Father gave Mary to Joseph for time only, or for time and eternity, we are not informed. Inasmuch as God was the first husband to her, it may be that He only gave her to be the wife of Joseph while in this mortal state, and that He intended after the resurrection to again take her as one of His own wives to raise up immortal spirits in eternity" Apostle Orson Pratt, The Seer, p. 158 -He was not born without the aid of man... "Our Father in heaven is the Father of Jesus Christ, both in the spirit and in the flesh..I believe firmly that Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son of God in the flesh..not as the Son of the Holy Ghost, but the Son of God..Christ was begotten of God. He was not born without the aid of Man, and that Man was God!" President Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1. p. 18 -As you and I are the sons of our fathers... "We believe absolutely that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, begotten of God, the first-born in the spirit and the only begotten in the flesh; that He is the Son of God just as much as you and I are the sons of our fathers.” President Heber J. Grant, Millenial Star, p. 2 www.sharpenedsword.com/page/page/3770650.htm
Coming from someone who used to be mormon the LDS church is not even close to being true. There's so much that was not spoken here that makes mormons not even close to true Christianity. The real wonder is how there are so many mormons in this world that are blinded from the truth when the truth is literally sitting in front of there eyes.
The reality is that Christians are "obsessed" with the growth of Christ's kingdom until it is without borders. Christ has defined what the borders currently are so that we can work to peacefully destroy them. The reason you see so much engagement from evangelicals with Mormonism is because the LDS claim they are "inside" those borders. They claim they are Christians but with "more revelation", when that extra revelation is actually what reveals they are outside the Kingdom "borders" that Christ defined. Christ's disciples have been commissioned to clearly define those borders for the world (salvation by faith alone in the one true God through the one true Christ) and then seek to grow those borders throughout the entire world, for the good of all mankind. Aside from that, you certainly don't believe truth can be ascertained by the number of debaters or the passion of the debaters do you? I would hope we can look past that and examine the arguments themselves, with love and respect, in pursuit of the Truth.
I am a member of "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" and I have to say not only do we have the "Fruits of the Spirit" testifying truth of The Book of Mormon, but the Book of Mormon has already been proven through many different types of research. Have you ever heard of Chiasmus? Its an ancient form of Hebrew writing that was not discovered until almost the mid 1900's. There are 100's of Chiasm's that have been recently found within the Book of Mormon of which Joseph Smith never even mentioned once within his lifetime. ua-cam.com/video/3mqw1PTBpM0/v-deo.html . There is also the Discovery of The Ancient "Mound Builders" of America that has been hid from the entire World. The Smithsonian even has an entire map pertaining to the mounds discovered here in America. You can even go and visit for yourself some of the Preserved Mounds that have not been built over. They have even completed soil testing for planting and crops dating back proving the time table. The more research you do, the more you find the Book of Mormon to be true. I also have a question for all of you.... How did people know that Jesus Christ was the Savior of the World during his days on the Earth? They had to go by the spirit witnessing to their spirit that it was really him. The only thing they had to go by was feelings of the Spirit testifying to them personally that he was truly the Savior of the World. In this sense... thats exactly how you come to know the truth of the Book of Mormon in this life. Fruits of the spirit testifying of truth, faith, and research. Love you all!
If you want feel a piece of Heaven in your home...invite the Elders or sister missionaries in your home! They give up 18 months to 2 years(with no pay) to teach the " fullness of the Gospel". They're so young, with little life experience, that they must rely on sincere study and prayer & serving others..they must rely on the Holy Ghost! And the Holy Ghost will teach you all things. That is one of the jobs of the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost. That is how we know the Bible is true! Correct? Yes, we haven't seen Jesus in this life, yet we KNOW HE is our Redeemer.
So thoroughly subjective. You do not know where your feelings are really coming from. The Bible makes it plain that Satan regularly disguises himself as an angel of light.
I have invited seven missionaries in my home. I told them about the true and living God and the true Christ of the Bible. It was a great experience. The Bible is true. The true and living God offers everyone forgiveness of sins, eternal life, salvation and exaltation for free. That is how much God loves them! Joseph Smith and every LDS prophet since him have preached a gospel of “do,” negating the gospel of “done” that Jesus preached and was. The LDS church is all about what it and its members must still do and be if they want to live with God (and be a god) one day. The true church is all about proclaiming what Christ has DONE to make us right with God now for all eternity. It’s a certainty. Jesus Christ canceled the record of debt that was held against us. All you need to do is accept Christ by faith. It isn't because of who you are and what you have done for God. It is because of who He is and what He did for you in sending Jesus to be the sacrificial offering for your sins. To be your substitute on the cross and to satisfy the demands of God's law that stands against you. Christ has done the one work that was necessary to reconcile you to God. Christ has done the one act of righteousness that could bring justification and life to all men. All Christ is asking with open arms is for you to lay down your religiosity and works at the foot of the cross and allow Christ to take it. Salvation is quite simple. Luke 18 And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt: 10 “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.’ 13 But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
I've invited the Elders and Sister missionaries into my home multiple times. Always fed them as well. My questions never get answered. I've even had one admit something rather eye brow raising.
If you invite them over for debate, the Spirit isn't likely to be present. But if you listen to their message, perhaps join them in humble kneeling prayer, you might just feel the Spirit testifying in a way you've never felt before.
Was that some sort of distraction? Because I don't think it addresses the issue I raised. You might want to look into the founder of Calvinism, who had one man (Gruet) that disagreed with him beheaded, and another (Servetus) burned at the stake.
@@lemjwp1756 Is that a distraction? I don't follow John Calvin. I follow Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ said, "Take up your cross and follow me. John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. When are you going to start following Jesus Christ?
Dude, I already told you, that you and your self righteous ego don't get to decide my eternal fate. I trust Jesus Christ. That's enough. I don't need to abide by your twisted theology to be saved. A loving Father in heaven doesn't burn people. Someday, you too will figure that out.
I've watched many of these videos with Jeff Durbin on this UA-cam channel. He seems to have a real problem with Mormons believing we can become gods. The scriptures make it clear that this is possible, if you apply common sense. For instance, Rev 3: 20-22, speaks about how if we overcome (the world) we will sit with Christ upon his throne as the father (God) sits on his throne. How can we not become a god as we literally sit upon the throne of Christ as well on the throne with God the father? Rom 8:17; Gal 4:7 (Heir of God- Heir: "a person legally entitled to the property or rank of another on that person's death...a person who will receive a title from another person") it is actually blasphemy and satanic to believe we cannot eternally progress to become a god. Satan wants you to believe this is not possible!! He does not want you to believe and progress to become like God. Let me explain: Does God the father (because he is a god) have a fullness of joy? YES! Does he have a fullness of love? YES! Does he have a fullness of happiness? YES! Does he have a fullness of power, knowledge and wisdom? YES! Absolutely 100% He possesses all of these attributes because he is a God!! AS OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN, HE WANTS US HIS CHILDREN TO OBTAIN THESE SAME ATRRIBUTES. Thats what a loving father wants for their children!! If you don't believe that we go through an eternal progression to obtain and become like God, then you believe in a god that's says, you will never obtain my fullness of happiness, joy, love, power, wisdom and knowledge. You will just be a slave robot that will never progress and grow and learn. you will be damned and never able to progress FOR ETERNITY. THINK ABOUT IT, FOR ETERNITY. Does that sound like a god you want to worship that says, sorry, you will never become like me and experience all of my joys and happiness. What kind of earthly father would tell his children, sorry kids, you're going to be my slave robot. I don't want you to ever experience and become like me. I will never share with you and teach you all the things that have made me successful, happy and full of joy. I want the absolute worst for you, I want you to never progress in life or become better. I don't want to see you progress and become truly happy and full of joy. Not believing that we can become like God is like telling your son, sorry son, you can never be a father like me and have children like me. What kind of earthly father would that be? a DOWNRIGHT HORRIBLE FATHER!! Doesn't a father want the best for their children? Why should it be any different from our Heavenly Father? GOD WANTS US TO BECOME LIKE HIM, LIKE A GOD!!! common sense, people!!! Don't listen to Mr. Durbin's toxic teachings about Mormonism. He doesn't know what he is talking about!!! Your definition of heaven is actually hell, if you believe we cannot become like God, A GOD!! Hell is where you are damned and can never progress to experience true joy and happiness. Jeff Durbin's definition of heaven is actually in reality, HELL. because he does not believe in eternal progression to become a god. He believes in damnation of individuals. NO PROGRESSION!! NO GODHOOD!! . I can't imagine living with a selfish god and being in heaven where i will be damned for eternity. Never Able TO BECOME LIKE MY FATHER IN HEAVEN and eternally progress to obtain his awesome attributes. The fact that The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints is the Only CHURCH that teaches this doctrine should open your eyes to the truthfulness of this church. Man, apply some common sense. Just take time to think about it! We are not saying that we will replace God one day and surpass him, all we are saying is that we can become like him. When I became a father, I didn't replace my dad or get rid of him, I learned from him and enjoyed my experiences that brought me closer to him because I became a father too. Here is a truth bomb, Mr. Durbin. ELOHIM IS ACTUALLY PLURAL. IT IS A HEBREW WORD MEANING GODS. IT IS GRAMMATICALLY PLURAL NOUN FOR GODS OR DEITIES IN BIBLICAL HEBREW. DO A WIKIPEDIA SEARCH OF THE WORD ELOHIM. Psalms 82:6 " I have said that ye are Gods, children of the most high God." Yes, there will be many Gods!!! Just like there are many fathers here on earth. Just like we can become a father on earth, we can become a God if we so choose and desire. Reply
Lds people believe that even if the thief died in his sin and went to the spirit world that missionary work continues in the next life so they don’t hate that at all. Why do you think they baptize for the dead.

Love it! This is helpful for our people here in Utah as we will be evangelizing 10,000 Mormons at General Conference on Saturday.
Preach the good news.

There are a group of people who God the Son talks about in Matthew 7 who say "Lord, Lord, didnt we do all these good works IN YOUR NAME?" what is the divine response? "Depart from Me, I never knew you". There is a group of people who deny that Jesus is God and yet claim to be His. This group of people are LDS. There will be others, even evangelical Christians who hear this..... it is sad, but it is true.

Feelings are not a biblical test of truth. Heck, feelings are about as unreliable as fortune cookies or as a magic 8-ball from the toy store.

@@TimothyBerman No one is born a child of God. Everyone is born an enemy of God, dead in their sins and without hope in the world. Romans 8:7; Eph. 2:1
The Bible is clear that all people are God’s creation (Colossians 1:16), and that God loves the entire world (John 3:16), but only those who are born again are children of God (John 1:12; 11:52; Romans 8:16; 1 John 3:1-10).
In Scripture, the lost are never referred to as God’s children. Ephesians 2:3 tells us that before we were saved we were “by nature objects of wrath” (Ephesians 2:1-3). Romans 9:8 says that “it is not the natural children who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring.”
Instead of being born as God’s children, we are born in sin, which separates us from God and aligns us with Satan as God’s enemy (James 4:4; 1 John 3:8).
Jesus said, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me” (John 8:42).
Then a few verses later in John 8:44, Jesus told the Pharisees that they “belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire.”
The fact that those who are not saved are not children of God is also seen in 1 John 3:10: “This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.”
We become God’s children when we are saved because we are adopted into God’s family through our relationship with Jesus Christ (Galatians 4:5-6; Ephesians 1:5).

But one day I got sick of saying Mormon to the defense that they are latter day saints that I snapped and asked why do you have a book that says in big letters " Mormons " ?.
Because the word "Mormon" is referring to the name of a prophet eho lived over a thousand years ago. It became a nickname for members of the church in the 1800's because of the book title. But it would be like calling believers by the name of Moses, Paul or Peter.

They sure do. Calvinism may be the most pernicious theology to ever emerge from Christendom.
@@lemjwp1756 why? Because it's based on scripture?
No, because its based on a very narrow INTERPRETATION of a few scriptural verses, an interpretation that is not shared by the vast majority of Christianity, but preached by followers of John Calvin, one of the most reprehensible religious teachers to ever live (read about his actions).
@@lemjwp1756 I did, his work on the institutes and his call to missions were phenomenal. What about his teaching do you object to? Or do you just hate him because it's the popular thing to do?
1) Calvin punished anyone who challenged his authority... I guess he saw himself as the Protestant Pope. Jacques Gruet was beheaded. Michael Servetus was burned at the stake. 2) Calvin taught a God no one could possibly willingly love or worship, a god who willed that a vast segment of humanity be tormeneted in eternal hell for his "good pleasure". I also have a couple of questions, what gave the preacher authority to be an elder and does he believe in the holy spirit? Because what I got from him, he doesn't believe in the holy sprit if he denies James 1:5
Unfortunately incorrect on so many levels. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I believe:
1) We worship God the Father in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ.
That is why Christ was crucified. Christ was not crucified because he was walking around claiming to be the brother of Lucifer.
John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
John 10:33 The Jews answered him, “It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but for blasphemy, because you, being a man, make yourself God.”
Jesus said your sins would not be forgiven if you did not believe He was God.
John 8:19 So they were saying to Him, “Where is Your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither Me nor My Father; if you knew Me, you would know My Father also.”
24 Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins unforgiven and condemned.”
The Bible teaches that:
1. There is one God.
2. There are 3 persons in the Godhead.
Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
3. Each person is God.
*****
There is no evidence in the Bible that the LDS Heavenly Father exists.
When you worship a false god, have a false Christ and believe a false gospel, you will not get into heaven.
@@jlewis8145 I'll reply to each part of your comment:
1) I agree with the three statements above.
2) Evidence in the Bible that Heavenly Father exists:
Hebrews 12:9 "Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?"
Acts 17:28-29 "For in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’ Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising." The word offspring translated in Greek is 'Genos' which means literal 'offspring' or 'race' or 'kin.' Genos is a very strong and specific word.
Here are some scriptures to that point:
Genesis 1:26 "And God said, Let us make man in our image."
Genesis 3:22 "And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil." In Genesis a plurality of God's exist, hence the clear passages given above of one speaking to another.
John 20:17 "Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God."
John 14:20 "At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you." Here is a great verse about "oneness." How can Jesus be in us, just as the Father is in Him?
The real answer is 'who knows.'
"and damns people who deny the eternal principle of polygamy?" What do you mean by "deny." Prophets thoughout the modern age have been absolutely crystal clear.
God Bless.

The fact that evangelicals are SO obsessed with Mormons almost makes me believe the LDS church could be true. Coming from an agnostic.
Thank you my friend, here is a cool video About reasons to believe in The Book of Mormon

Obsessed? Mormons have a 70000 member missionary army trying to destroy Christian faith my friend....
Luke 18 And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt:
10 “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
11 The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
12 I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.’
13 But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’
14 I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
@@lemjwp1756 Have you read the book of Acts in the Bible?
Google this guy and see if you think he's a good representative of Jesus Christ.
John 10:27
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Google Joseph Smith the predator and Brigham Young the pedophile and then let's chat about who is a good representative of Christ.
Ad hominem, anyone?

That thief on the cross confounds all the works based religions...all he did was believe and they hate that
Lds people believe that even if the thief died in his sin and went to the spirit world that missionary work continues in the next life so they don’t hate that at all. Why do you think they baptize for the dead.
@@mikejustice7724 Why join the Mormon church now? Wait tell you are dead.
I’m a Latter Day Saint of the Church of Jesus Christ.
Witness to me as you wish… part 2.
Sir What do you think of the church of christ so far? Id love to hear what your thinking
What do you recognize as being different?
@@jonanthony3913 It’s alright. I think the recent Latter-day Saint vs. Calvinist debate on Sola Scriptura was interesting.
@@brandonyost2806 I think the Church of Jesus Christ is the only true and living church on the earth today. It’s a grace of God to have opportunities to access the blessings and guidance made available through the Lord’s holy priesthood.
What do you think of it?
@@tannerbuckley2037 Recognize what as being different from what?
If you mean what makes the Church of Jesus Christ different from other churches, I would say the presence of the Lord’s living priesthood guiding the church and granting it the power and authority to carry out his direct will for the whole earth. Under the direction of God, we’ve been able to accomplish so much towards building Zion and making the world a better place.
Why do I feel like I'm listening to a bunch of rubbish ?
The gospel is foolishness to those who are perishing.
@@jlewis8145 I love the gospel and I ain't perishing at all but man this guy talks to much shit.
Funny I just went to a lds church last Sunday I actually saw spirits I don't see the spirit here I see anger exactly what is wrong with your gospel it's corrupt with anger that is self righteousness and when I say see spirits I actually saw them with my eyes and to give my story I just got out the mental hospital with suicidal thoughts I prayed to Jesus and I ended up at the lds church to most I know what you all will say next. Jesus saved my life last week I leave you with this Luke chapter 10
Can you see these spirits on your phone?
You have a counterfeit Jesus, one that never died on a cross.
The true Christ claimed to be God.
Who is I am in the bible
Why can't you all see the problem all religion is flawed we are all children of christ stop the debating its counterproductive
I have a question for you all how do we create a society with 100 percent peace?
Jesus and the Father are not the same person....this screaming guy is not being honest.
Nimrods beard! , this is not Christian.
What’s not Christian? The guy in the video or the guys they’re talking about, The Church of Jesus Christ.
Yes I agree with the guy replying why do you say this?
