Sandra, I wanted you to know something. I was watching LittlePoet, whose conversations center around being alone after 60. During her last conversation she asked a few questions, one of which asking what or who inspires us. You entered my mind immediately. I’m alone at 58 and fear aging very much, and in fact worry about it far too much. You’ve taught me to relish + enjoy each + every day, be ever so thankful + present in the moment + not to be so hard on ourselves. The fact that you live alone and you are very happy with your life gives me hope + faith. You truly appreciate your surroundings, find beauty in nature + stay positive + present. I also want you to know I faithfully watched ROMPER ROOM every day as a child. I remember the children playing with KLICK-KLACKS (which found their way to many Letters to Santa!), your wisely telling us to always remember to breathe in the fresh air + to appreciate what we have. Then you’d look into the Magic Mirror + recite random boys and girls’ names to illustrate that you saw us. This validated us as young children. You are a true inspiration to us all!!❤

I never knew when I was on Romper Room, that I would be here now at 84 sharing my experiences and trying to help others lead a better and more purposeful life. Your comment really touched my heart. Sometimes the topics I cover I am not too sure will be of interest to anyone, but just knowing that I have such a wonderful, loving community here helps me through my low times as well. The secret is truly living each and every day in the moment and if we do that it helps us understand why we are here and it also helps us live a happier and more full life. Some days it’s harder than others for me, too, but I know that we are all here for a reason and that being alone can be comforting if we love who we are, It helps to reach out to others who may need just a smile or a phone call. I don’t think about aging, what I think about is being unprepared. Sandra can probably relate to my “Capricorn” view as a Capricorn herself. Not that she is in the same position. Finances & money give you the freedom to live the kind of life you want. I have the regret that I did not start that path young enough.

I will be 74 in February, and I remember as a child looking out the window at the empty trees and grayness of everything and wishing my birth day offered a season of color and light. I grew up in the northeast. Listening to you describe your birthday as a time of new beginnings gives me something very special to ponder while considering all that I am grateful for. I truly do feel gratitude many times during each day and always remind myself of how fortunate my life has been. It hasn’t been an easy life at all, there have been many struggles and illnesses and losses but I have survived it all and have recognize how very blessed my life is for it all. Dee I understand the season you grew up in , I’m 75 next week so a January person living in hot summers in Queensland Australia while trees are green usually it’s so very hot and humid and the ground is so parched the grass is brittle under your feet. Hi Sandra, I'm Sandra also and 66. I completed my memoir last year at age 65, something I've always wanted to do. When you look over your life by writing your memoir I found out that I had lived, up to now, a wonderful, full life but full of many mistakes and brave chances. I left my marriage of 25 years to move to a new city with the new love of my life and didn't look back. We have to follow our hearts. I started a new career at age 50 and learned to be less critical of myself and live in the present. The time goes by so fast but you must never have regrets. Things happen for a reason and fate plays such a big role. Happy birthday.

Hi Sandra, I'm Sandra also and 66. I completed my memoir last year at age 65, something I've always wanted to do. When you look over your life by writing your memoir I found out that I had lived, up to now, a wonderful, full life but full of many mistakes and brave chances. I left my marriage of 25 years to move to a new city with the new love of my life and didn't look back. We have to follow our hearts. I started a new career at age 50 and learned to be less critical of myself and live in the present. The time goes by so fast but you must never have regrets. Things happen for a reason and fate plays such a big role. Happy birthday.

As I look back, it seems like only yesterday I lined the route of the Queen's Coronation at 14, and then all the decades, children, grandchildren and now great grandchildren.
