My two cents: In its Keyboard-Version, the Pittsburgh Modular Taiga offers more or less the same features as the module version: an analogue semi-modular sound engine with three flexible oscillators, a characterful multimode-filter plus LPG, two LFOs, and two envelopes. While I sometimes struggled with the densely packed interface on the Taiga desktop version, the Keyboard version is much more enjoyable to play with.
With bigger potentiometers, enough space between the controls, and the mod matrix placed above, it represents a significant evolution. I had hoped for an additional Ring Modulator, more multiples, or a bigger mixer section. Additionally, I still wish the envelope shapes were a bit more flexible, especially when it comes to drones or (2-note-paraphonic) pads. But it still is a superb analog power-house with a lot of character. Check it out - > www.thomann.de/intl/pittsburgh_modular_taiga_keyboard.htm?offid=1&affid=397
Super helpful thank you. Had returned my desktop version as I struggled with the envelope limitations and wanted a bit more aggression from the filter. Was hoping this update would tweak a few things. Looks great though, deliciously tactile
On the plus side, 24hp should be more than enough room to add buffered mults, a mixer, and a ring modulator. Although if you can modulate the mixer's level, you don't need a dedicated ring mod.
@@Farold_HaltermeyerA nice trick to add more crunch and feedback from the filter is to take an output from the filter, dynamics or echo and patch it back into the pre-amp. Play with gain and level to get a great variety of dirty and aggressive tones.
Thanks for the demo. The synth sounds great and is reasonably priced coming from the modular world. I'm gonna have to get one.
Fine tune, big addition
What a blast!!! I will have to check it out, i love the Taiga desktop, but this is a beauty !!!! Thanx dude!!!
Nice to see you using the the waveshaped oscillator 3 to get different rythmic patterns. That's a method I enjoy using on the original Taiga.
Is this using osc3 as an lfo?
@@leroytakahashiyes, sometimes
That Rother line!
Great patches. A sub-osc from osc 2 with a dedicated mix knob would have been perfection IMHO. (Put your own folder in the slots)
Could probably stick a clock divider (or some other modular trick) in one of the slots , derive your octave down from one of the square waves, divide down to your heart's content and send back to one of the mixer channels...
@@soysos.tuffsound any number of modules can get there (contour 1 for that and MANY other reasons is a top companion choice IMHO), but I still think it would have been nice to have onboard for the price.
I saw this and immediately wanted to pair the star lab reverb and it’s too big ! Ugh 😣
That would have been a great match!
They are asking 600 for a keyboard
And a powered eurorack case! I'm pretty happy regarding the price.
Wait is it really only $600???
@@uyscuti5376 how many modules can you fit in there? But good to have an option to have some extra modules in there.
@@AliAusAachen 24hp. Not sure how many power headers they provide. Probably safe to say you can fit 2 modules
@@nashalcorn3857(additional 600)
One of the worst synth demo I've ever watched, I don't know if this synth is only able to emulate beep bleeps and fart sounds and nothing else, or the player here is really bad.
It's 100 % the player's fault. Make sure to subscribe to not miss even worse demos
