    Your channel is growing quickly.... congratulations!
    I think the best route for new builders. Especially people worried about technology. Increasing is to wire up all your lights and any devices that you may have as a normal system With devices and breaker boxes built in But going to a female 30/50 amp rv plug and a. Andersen 12v feed that you could simply plug your power station into to power the vehicle and then down the road. If you upgrade your power system, you just plug it right back into the same 2 plugs. Easy peesy!

    Other big expenses of building a system are all of the tools necessary to do a legit build and all of the different sizes and lengths of wires. From 0000 awg for the batteries to something as small as 16 awg, depending on your build.

      Well, you don't need 4/0 cabling. You just go with 2 AWG and a 48V battery... and that's only really if you want to be able to scale to 5000W (100A). If you target 2500W, now the cabling is only 4 AWG. The biggest mistake people make (constantly make actually) is building discrete systems with 12V instead of 24V or 48V. These days I just go straight to 48V, there's no point using a lower voltage. It makes everything easier and cheaper.

      @@joeblow1942 My DIY was built 2019 with a single 100 amp hour Battle Born, $999. Fuses, wiring, tools, solar charge controller, inverter came to $800.
      The DIY barely ran my refrigerator and a hot pot. Today that would buy amazing portable power. My needs are met with one EcoFlow Delta 2 I paid $799 July 2023.
      I was very concerned about an all in one unit breaking. A few times I contacted customer service and they were helpful. It runs 24/7 powering my DC cooler, USB devices and AC cooker. I would not go any smaller.
      Use two solar panels, both 100 watt HQST monocrystalline $110 each. Purchased July 2019. They have always been mounted to a mini van roof rack without issue.
      Hope my story helps someone.

    I think it all depends on where you live.
    I live in a cold snowy area and to make it a week with no sun i use,
    800w solar, 4-100ah batteries and a Bluetti 200p.
    Bluetti runs all 120 devices, microwave, induction cook top ect.
    Batteries run all 12v stuff, fridge/freezer, diesel heater, lights, fans and charging devices.
    Oh and to charge the Bluetti.

    Sorry to disagree with something you stated ..... One CAN (as I did), wire up outlets all over one's RV, Cargo trailer, etc.... and run those leads back to one point, where a Power station will be positioned, and "plug-in" all circuits to the Power station .... It has worked PERFECTLY for ALL my electrical needs throughout my 16' custom Cargo trailer !! Also solar & dc to dc charging of said power station .... I am NEVER without power !

    I haven't heard great things about mounting flexible solar panels to the roof, as they can be damaged from heat, but I've been very interested in the Bouge RV CIGS panels. They can be roof mounted and aren't damaged by the same amount of heat, plus they have a 10 year warranty, run well in low light conditions and are safe from damage. You can walk on them and HoboTech shot through his with still getting rated wattage.
    I hope you get some commission from selling these, but there are things i personally like from other devices.

With running outlets 12 volt and 120 volt outlets and lines, rooftop solar , shore power and 8000w generator with the primary power source being a Anker 767 powerhouse. Right now trying to decide the best way to transfer power sources, looking for something a little more clean tech than a big red ABC battery switch. Although yes it will be necessary for the charging of the Anker 767 when on shore power. Any suggestions?❤

    • @nomadbrad503

      Yes, you can install 2x automatic transfer switches. Each switch has 2 inputs. Inputs from 1 switch can be shore power/ generator. Feed that output into an input on the 2nd switch with the other input being your power station. There are UA-cam videos on this. It’s all automatic

    You're still going to want a system set up in your van/cabin (etc). Ceiling vent, interior lights, etc. and have it plugged in to the power system. How do you set up a charging system for the stand-alone unit to have the vehicle charge while driving?

    • @nomadbrad503
      @nomadbrad503  2 місяці тому

      You would connect a power inverter to your starting battery and plug the power cord from the power station into that inverter

    • @junkerzn7312
      @junkerzn7312 2 місяці тому

      For a power station you just plug the vehicle 12V into the power station... hopefully switched 12V so it is only on when the vehicle is turned on. When presented with 12V on the "solar" input, nearly all power stations these days limit the current to 8A (100W). So its a free trickle-charge, basically. Dead simple.
      For a discrete DIY build there are several solutions. A DC-DC is a decent solution for 12V and 24V solar systems, but for 48V it is typically easier to install a small inverter and 4A AC-to-DC battery charger (roughly 250W).
      You cannot generally use a medium or large 12V inverter from the starting battery to the power station, but it depends on how much power the power station pulls when charging from "AC". Larger power stations can pull enormous amounts of power... like 1500W+, which obviously won't work well from a starter battery with a 12V inverter. You can easily over-stress and burn-out the alternator, as well as drain the starter battery dry or over-discharge it or cause the lead-acid to gas-out.
      So care must be taken. Its gonna depend on a lot of factors.
      -Maatt

    I am old enough to have lived in a van with zero electric at all, after I exited the Army. I worked and lived during the day, and went to sleep on my full size bed in my Chevy extended van at night. I would sometimes use these things called candles or oil lamps, to do this other thing we used to do, read books. I did get fancy once and borrowed an extension cord, a clip on light and a portable fan from a relative who I was visiting. I am just being tongue in cheek, I have already decided if I build out another van, then I am going to use a simple electrical build, a lithium battery, charge controller, panel(s), and inverter (Of course with proper fuses, wire, etc), I probably forgot something but, I wasn't prepared to give a lecture on a subject I came across on a random video recommended to me by UA-cam..lol. The wife and I use very little electricity and according to the stats on our bill, we use 80% less than others in our service area. I am not a fan of the AIO devices because if one part fails on the device, you are out of luck, a single component is easier to diagnose and replace in my opinion.

    You are addressing system engineer; requirements analysis, and implementation. From a consumer perspective, a turn key integrated system has the appeal of simplicity until the requirements change. A system of subsystems has some benefits of future obsolescence, repair, redundancy, and expansion. Continuing a theme from your previous video, (ua-cam.com/video/TcwbF9WuqF0/v-deo.html), we inevitably increase requirements and over specify. A 12 volt deep cycle, wire, fuses and a couple female cigarette plugs (sourced from Radio Shack and Sears Auto center) was once sufficient!
