You'd think the Ballista would be the dedicated "Ground Vehicle Radar" platform. SAM's are great but only when you can detect air craft long before they detect you.
Coolers and power plants have an EM decay rate stat, which affects how quickly your EM goes down to the passive base value. Technically other components also have an EM decay rate stat, but they've all be equalised for balance currently. The reason for it being above base is because energy is being expended by something - eg weapons (especially energy), shields refilling, quantum spooling/spooled, thrusters being used. You can lower this base value by switching off components (shields are a big one).
Thank you so much for this info, I already schedule to make a video for testing just those component's decay rate, and thanks for letting me know it is just the cooler and powerplant that have the EM decay.
@@cpt_foxyloxy No problem. As I understand it, even with the best coolers and power plants the advantage in em decay rate doesn't amount to much, but every little helps. Coolers are otherwise irrelevant except for weight (I think lighter components boost flight performance marginally), and powerplants so long as they are sufficient to power everything at once including energy weapons (and weight).
As soon as they announced the Firebird I started bugging my contacts at CIG. It made no sense for the medium missile boat to carry half the missiles the small missile boat carries. I'm so glad they listened to everyone's input so quickly. But I'm still really surprised about the Tali getting all size 3 weapons- that's been my one gripe about the ship for over half a decade, that it needed size 3s instead of size 2s. I'm not much of a missile guy but I love to see so much work being put into our missile boats and torp platforms. It'll be cool to see how they balance missiles+torps
OMG ive been searching the far reaches of the internet for somebody to tell me where I can find that option setting (Emissions HUD display valute) MASSIVE MASSIVE thx Fox
I love the idea that the missiles you choose will depend on where the target is. If you are going to a hot moon maybe best use EM or CS to avoid any interference from the planet for example. Also, choosing CS for large ships and firing from above or below for the highest chance to lock on properly. This could make bounty hunting a much more intellectual process than just skill based. Very interesting!
They always drop stealth ships with suppressed radar blimp and then months later when they drop the next stealth ship they nerf the old stealth ships back to the normal values it’s happened with every single stealth ship they don’t care about the ships as long as they sell
Helpful vid, Based on your radar descriptions it appears the ability to detect mineable rocks has nothing to do with the size of radar. Surprised prospector or vulture are not in the Tier 2 list, but also glad the cutter is lol Are there different components for mineral detection.. would like to see CIG flesh out the sensors as components like the others. By manufacturers and features.
It would be nice if you had tested anything. Particularly the supress ir function and the stealth mode for power to see if they actually do anything. Nobody has seemingly tested any mechanics since like 3.15 and just repeating publicly available info without any tests doesnt actually add anything of value.
Don't worry, this video is only for the Radar, there will be more stealth testing coming regarding as many aspect as possible, including the suppress IR you mentioned. I only want to focus on one major topic for one video.
@@cpt_foxyloxy sorry if I was a bit crass, it’s just hard to come across good info. I just want your channel to do well, you seem to be really into it. Love ya.
If you have reduction, then the emission values on your HUD is already calculated, and currently we have these ships that have stealth reduction 40%: Eclipse, Razor EX, Saber, Raven, Firebird, Prowler, Mustang Delta
@@cpt_foxyloxy Also we have Aurora LN which currently stealthier than any of above ships without having any reduction ))) Perfect choice for beginners to do stealth style MRTs ) PS Not Prowler - Talon
You forgot to add that stealth ships also have stealth armor that reduces the signatures (without showing it) for 20-40% depending on the ship. Or is that on the 2nd stealth video?
Someone replied (and deleted it) saying that there's no special armor, but there is. All the ships that are classifiec as "stealth" have armor that reduces their signatures by 20%. Sabre Firebird was buffed to 40%. These things are already in the game, but don't show up in the signature numbers.
Is S2 the largest radar currently? Thought the Polaris had one of _the_ _best_ radars in-game (Capital Class). Trying to wrap my mind around it being the same tier as the Hurricane/Vanguard...
For the polaris it is according to the current patch and it is not in our hands yet, so it might change when it actually comes out, we don't have S3 radar currently in game yet, it might also change later.
Were you at Pickers Fields yesterday trying to hide from my Raven then 3 reds turned up 1 was a cutty blue they were players and decided to attack me but i was to fast and maneuverable for them do not know what happened to the firebird.😂
No, it only depends on the angle when you face the target ship, CS is mainly determined by the physical size of the ship itself, but affected by the angle of facing the target ship.
Sadly, they have not un-nerfed the Ghost. -13% stealth, with fewer HP than a normal Hornet. Something tells me there was a systemic change, and Ghost II will be the fix.
Good phoenix reference, but you got things wrong once again. 1) Which viewing angle has which cross section signature value is different for every ship. 2) Going by sig info on the HUD, the background emissions are not in the game yet, or at least not complete.
So how did you get the Firebird to have holes in the wings like a Raven. Or is that the Raven with a while paint? Hang on, it's an Eclipse, and one with the super rare 2950 BIS white paint. As Borat would say "very nice!"
RSI description: "The F7C-R Tracker boasts an advanced radar suite making it ideal for deep-space explorers who require depth and accuracy in their scan packages." - size: small - same as every other Hornet. Huh?
You'd think the Ballista would be the dedicated "Ground Vehicle Radar" platform.
SAM's are great but only when you can detect air craft long before they detect you.
It's very incomplete still.
Cool that you dived into it even more now!
Indeed, down the rabbit hole we go
Thank you so much for the shout out! I look forward to your next video!
Much appreciated and thank you again for the great info.
Great video! As a new citizen It's nice to get a quality video on some of the more technical game mechanics. Thank you.

Meanwhile: We wait that aquila and tracker hornet has a functioning radar dome...
I wonder what this means for the Terrapin. Is it just going to get a "different/extra" radar for it's role?
I think so, it is not fully functional yet, probably the center radar will be a different radar when it is "fixed"
Very interesting (as always), but now i ask myself whats change in the calcul when a ship have multiple radar (like the 890j) ?
Nothing change. 1 seat = 1 radar. Radars are not cumulative.
The Zeus ES is currently listed with a S3 radar. I wonder if it will keep it if it releases with 4.0 and what its capabilities will be.

Hornet tracker??? Should.be bigger than any other right?
It would be nice if the eclipse had a size two radar
Hey, I thought the Hornet Tracker and the Anvil Terrapin both had Size-2 Radars similar to the Cutter Scout. Is that simply an omission ?
Can you get really close (under 1.5km) of those bunker turrets without being detected by using stealthier ships or reducing power?
can we say bigger ships may see better than smaller ? (radar sizes)
Curious did you have stealth turned on I might have missed you turning it on but good video man
Does having multiple radars change anything or is it redundancy if one goes down?
Is it possible to see enemy ship’s emission values?
Is stealth bombing practical in 3.23? ERT targets seem to shoot down size 9 torps. Maybe those ones are read by the ai differently?
Love the vid, so good. But whats the deal with the 40% radar reduction thing for firebird? Does it mean 40% on the base detection range?

Not yet at least

That dedicated radar on our ships doesn't work yet.
Does the cross section signature also depend on the distance?
No, it only depends on the angle when you face the target ship, CS is mainly determined by the physical size of the ship itself, but affected by the angle of facing the target ship.

ahahaha. I know he wants to play SC as well.
2x S1 = S2?!
No, 2s1s are stronger then 1 s2

Polaris has capital sized radar..
For on on SC ship viewer, it is listed as such, I think when it gets released it will have some S3 radars.

eh? terrapin has S1? WTF
Cross section should not be a passive value. It should be detected by pings only. Once again, CIG devs are without hope or knowledge.
