I have played this over and over so many times... it is such an emotional release for me. I weep EVERY TIME I watch this performance. It is truly brilliant and I am so thankful.
I feel you. This interpretation is so profound, so precise and elegant. It captures the essence of the play and puts it on display so perfectly. The entire show is my favorite production ever, and it made this my favorite musical theatre show ever period.
I never truly knew this song till i saw this version. The context from her performance and phrasings tell the story. Dare I say that this is the definitive version of this song?
Brilliant performance of the 1st act version of the second. I wish there were more often interpretations performed of the 2nd act version of the song, which is sweet and hopeful (and, of course, given the reverse chronology of the show, earlier in time), which -- while we know everything goes south for the characters as shown in the first act -- can stand on its own outside the context of the show.
You can watch it here on youtube: ua-cam.com/video/c3gNXy5-lHc/v-deo.html&ab_channel=JacksonDeStefano It's a fantastic production. So much so that it's become my favourite show ever! I was thinking about pointing out some of the standout moments for me but there are just so many that it would be unfair to point out any particular one without mention of the others. Enjoy!!!
What a horrid response! You obviously have never experienced the loss expressed in these powerful lyrics as all you note is the musical’s “flop”! Hopefully you know of the new successful version of the show! But these lyrics stand alone in a powerful statement of loss .
Truly excellent- I thought the person she was singing about was dead - but more effective that it’s about a lover - exquisitely builds terrific

Undoubtedly, together with LOVING YOU and LOSING MY MIND, one of the most beautiful songs of Sondheim.
I'll put Send in the Clowns in the list as well. Just technically hard to sing with all its nuances and musical complexities.

Personally, I really love Katie Rose Clarke’s version in the current production on Broadway. But this version is really good too!
Sometimes one has to let Sondheim's brillance sink in. Maybe it's a different staging, actors, etc. Eventually it shines through.
wow! That left me numb... an incredible interpretation.
This woman crushes
Brilliant interpretation! Every emotion scintillates.

Sure - I'll upload it too when I can.
😍😍
Finally I get to hear someone who manages to sing accurately what Sondheim had written! Well done!!!
Losing My Mind from Follies has a similar theme, but Sondheim never rehashes. Every song is written for a specific character and mood.
Part of the reason Here We Are was so difficult to write music for was because Sondheim never wanted to repeat himself
This is wonderful!
it really is! i like her performance the most , i think. this whole production is incredibly meaningful to me. . . made it my favourite show!
I need to watch this where can I see it?

Thanks a bunch
You can see a version on broadway now, directed by the same woman who directed the west end production.

Pretty Song.
The show was a Flop.
This production was FAR from a flop.
