Somehow, Episode 3 returned
Somehow, the show got worse. 😂
Ok I like the show, but this comment got me 😂😂
felt like disney is doing this intentionaly now. Add something to the lore that doesnt make sense and retcon everything that comes afterwards half-hearted so that it makes somehow sense.
Cope 😂😊
This episode is from another perspective, Sol’s perspective- not necessarily the Jedi - so like memories, some things are vague, missing, parodied - and wrong. So we might not find out what happened until all major characters have their viewpoint to have a voice -
I feel like Sol obsession's with having a padawan if it had been known from earlier in the season would have made the death of Jecki have a bigger impact.
Exactly, we just needed more backstory to explain that Sol was restless and insecure about not yet having a padawan, and this desperation to prove himself or find meaning as a Jedi (his frustration with the Jedi council for not seeing him as worthy of being a master/having a padawan?) made him make brash choices and false assumptions that suited what he wanted. This would explain how he could have convinced himself, in the urgency and confusion, that the twins' needed protecting from their mother.
It makes me curious as to how Jecki became Sol's padawan.

These Disney+ episodes absolutely need to be a full hour long.
The pacing is bad. It feels like nothing happens at all by the end of each episode and it makes for a tedious watch. Right when we feel like an answer is imminent, those 20min credits role.

And air nightly. Cutting up a movie into parts like this works better when it’s nightly like old tv miniseries. The show should’ve aired over 2 weeks instead of 2 months

@@furious_wrath7079 there’s a difference between want and need. We don’t need it. Personally, I don’t care.
I was stunned when Mother Anisaya turned into a murder cloud and then was killed....and the story frames it like Sol did the wrong thing. She immediately says something like "....I was going to give you everything you wanted" and it's like.....WHY DID YOU TURN INTO A DEATH CLOUD!?!?
EXACTLY! She mind controlled Torbin for what ... "I can make it so you go home" dudes been there a few weeks lol
Yes, any rational person seeing a child getting vaporized without explanation would try to stop it. I can get being upset that you had to kill a mother in front of the child, but he seemed pretty justified in the moment!
How was it a "murder cloud"?
The witches the only ones that didn't actually hurt anyone.
She did a Jedi mind trick. It's cool when they do it, right?
We expect the witches to be bad and evil because this shows supposed to have darkside, Sith villains. But it's not giving us that on screen.
We just filling all that in ourselves.
The Jedi literally broke into their home three times to shy and then take the kids.
We've only seen the witches defend themselves.
Just terrible writing.
we don't know it was a death cloud, lol. it could have been a form of teleportation. we also saw mother koral do the same black cloud thing before the wookie got his mind raped. so maybe she was going to put everyone in an illusion to stop the fight, and sol reacted.
The way Venestra talks to Sol = the way Anaseya talked to Torbin = Qimir talking to Osha = Palpatine talking to Anakin. Same seductive grooming-style of talking.
I'd imagine Harvey Weinstein's assistant would know about grooming

The Trek Stan in me had a great time with the opening to this episode... "Science officer Sol's log. We are collecting flora samples on Brendok, an uninhabited M class planet." It felt like such an odd thing to see Jedi doing.
That's kind of what the Jedi did though, how do you think the Jedi archives were built

I feel like the whole point of episode 7 was for both Osha and Mae to be told the truth simultaneously by Sol. Episode 6 ended with Osha putting on the Cortosis helmet which cuts off her senses save her connection to the Force; since she and Mae have an identical Force-print, she is witnessing Sol’s confession to Mae via their bond.

@@Cp3786 Nah, perhaps just hoping there’s more method to the madness than may be obvious.
@@Cp3786you've made this same comment 3 times on this page. Sure you ain't the bot?
Maybe Sol was taken by the Jedi when he was young (say 4) and Qimir was his younger brother who was a baby later resented Sol leaving him and their family and though he also was strong in the Force, had a grudge against Sol for abandoning them and him not being allowed to join his brother. Leading him to seek the dark side of the Force. That's my thoughts about a week ahead of the finale!
It doesn’t feel like it’s moving things forward . It feels like it’s over seasoning the broth. The writing is not convincing
Yeah, if the show had 24 episodes I could accept it like this, eight 30 minutes episodes are not enough for this pace.
Without a doubt it's bad writing which is a shame because the actors are doing their hardest to make it seem interesting.
@marcelopicheth6111 even 8 - 12 one hour episodes would have helped so much. One for more room to breathe, but also the editing choices to end the episodes on hurt the show as well.
Episode 3 should have been streamlined and blended into the first two as well. Good stuff there, but not enough to carry an ep by itself.

You are clearly a shill. If you've been reviewing Star Wars there's no way you don't see how bad the writing is. It is Star Wars, and the standards are high. It is not a generic CW show. So did Indara kill everyone in the coven ripping their brains out of the wookie?

I’m still wondering what torbin did that when Mae showed up with poison, he happily downed it. Sure he was the reason they went back to the temple, but literally EVERYTHING that happened after they showed up was easily avoidable.
Good writing? Character motivations change on a dime or are non existent.
Then you have to ask why is mist form vulnerable to a lightsaber? Unless she chose to reform around a lightsaber killing herself as a martyr.
He wasnt intending to reveal anything to mae other than to explain his actions as it was the first time theyd been face to face since that night
25:25 THIS is probably EXACTLY what 7 should have revealed. That in that moment that Sol chose Osha over Mae on that bridge/catwalk, Sol created Qimir and it was Qimir that saved Mae. Or even that the witches had somehow made that possible with their little group trance deal. The reason Qimir is as old as he indicates is because the witches did not die cause the wookie was broken free...but the wookie was broken free cause the witches completed their ritual of passing their spirits to create a new life...using Sol's inner turmoil as the catalyst. So combining all the lives of all the witches that passed their spirits to create Qimir would make him older than he appears. Making Qimir a mix of all those witches and Sol...which would explain why he is so powerful.
OMG, this made alot of sense.
This is such a stupid theory. It's just reaching to fill in the gaps of bad story telling.
Big reveals gain their effectiveness from being supported by what we've already seen, even if we have the wrong idea initially.

I honestly don’t even think Torbin’s motivation is written well either. He says he misses Coruscant, but why? 7 weeks seems like a short stint on a planet for a Jedi. Is this his first mission away from Coruscant, and he’s homesick? Does he miss the temple? Does he miss his Friends? They don’t explain why he wants to go back really and without context as to why he misses Coruscant, he just seems like a whiney spoiled padawan.
Agreed
Yup 😔
Tbf as far as he knew this was a planet without any living beings. Staying 2 weeks would drive most people crazy. 42 days of cataloguing grass samples does not sound appealing
@@stephenthomas2733 he's a teenager who was forcibly removed from his home, friends, and routine to go camp on an uninhabited PLANET for two months taking endless grass samples for, ostensibly, no reason in particular. He was promised purpose and adventure with the life of a Jedi. I'd be freaking bored and homesick, in his situation, too.
Agreed. Not to mention, every so called "Jedi Master" in this show acts like a teenager with just as much emotion control and "changed attitudes on a dime" mentality. The Jedi in this show aren't evil. They're just DUMB.
Dude, while HOTD may have a similar budget, the money is spent in very different ways. HOTD spends a lot on re-using dragon CGI effects. They are re-using the same sets for every episode. There isn’t a major budget expense for alien makeup, either.
I think the comparison to HOTD or Dune is way off the mark.
Mother Koril is probably the one that saved Mae on the bridge. Koril must have been the force that was pulling Mae away from Sol's force grip. That is why it felt so difficult for him to save both. His main focus was not trying to hold up both sides of the bridge. Koril naturally was trying to pull Mae to herself cuz they are both the "dark" forces in their respective pairings (Aniseya/Osha: light, Koril/Mae: dark), and Sol could feel less resistance with Osha so he saved the twin that he knew he could definitely save and wanted to be his padawan.
Maybe Qimir, being a lost Jedi at the time of the Brendok incident, was attracted to the planet for the same reason the Jedi were cataloguing it. He incorporated part of Koril and Aniseya's forces into him when they parished which is why he has the connection to the twins and knew about their dyad. Koril and Aniseya's forces probably live on through Qimir who is using their dyad strength for his own purposes. Come on, let's see it!
P.S. Once Aniseya and Koril decide to go into a disintegrated form, they are essentially "sacrificing" themselves for that power and can no longer return to their previous physical body.
That ability, the black smoke monster lol, I think that’ll be how mae and osha become one again.
I still don’t understand why as children they’re non identical, but identical as adults lol. Still something that stands out to me lol
I don't think there's supposed to be an in universe reason for this, simply that they couldn't find a pair of child actor twins they liked so went for the next best actors who looked similar. I think we can all surely suspend our belief for a short time, knowing they're supposed to be identical. Maybe Osha ate more Spice Cream in her youth and this diet of hers altered her face. Only in adolescence did she curb her high spice caloric intake and her face fell in line with that of her sister. (I'm kidding of course) But yeah, casting....
@@EzekielGarf yeah, just hard for me to ignore for some reason lol it was one of the things that added to my early theories of adult Mae not actually being real lol
It reminds me of when a black guy and white woman have a child on a show, and that child has no sign of being biracial/mixed 😅 like to me, their facial structure is soooo non identical, the only thing that makes them look like twins is the choice to give them the same hair lol.
But anyway, it’s not a big deal.. just feels like a choice that is being “these aren’t the droids” wiped away 😂
There’s so much more problems, that this nitpick shouldn’t be taken seriously in all honesty.

“The ability to speak does not make you intelligent”
I found it pretty cool that it took that many Force witches to possess and control a wookie Jedi master and then another Jedi master flushes them out thus killing them with the feedback. Really spoke to the mental power involved.

The other thing I think might be happening is that (unless we're going to get a two hour run time) the season finale is going to resolve some things, but not others. It's as though Headland anticipates a second season that, based on the overall audience response, isn't going to happen.
Kaimet is using OSHA to get to May and use the power of the diad.. and then they find out that he use the witches to create the diet to get the power of the diet which in Susan a battle where neither side wins Yoda shows up and covers it all up

It’s a “mystery” that’s completely uninteresting and lacks mystery entirely
Only the Disney shills/bots will defend garbage🤣🤣🤣
I dont understand the issue people have with how some of fight scenes in episode 5 were shot. I'm sure it was intentionally shot like that. First of all, the fight is sort of being shown from Oshas perspective (sort of!) and so we're not going to see every angle and the perfect shots. We're going to see it through the trees and trying to make out whats going on like Osha would be. And trying to make out whats going on, for me personally, was intriguing. It added this mystery to The Stranger. We don't fully understand at that point who this character is, and we dont fully understand his fighting. I dont know if that makes sense, but i just don't think it was bad because we couldnt make everything out.
Yes, totally agree. I like all the ways this show is shot, and I'm pretty sure its intentional, and not, as the hosts seem to imply, the result of one film unit being better than the other. It all looks coherent and deliberate to me.
I feel like the final must present a third view (Sith). It must explain how Mae end up as an acolyte. Also a cliffhanger is needed.
I think the big reveal is vanestra has a whip type lightsaber and kiamira has a scare on his back from his master who kick him out of the jedi

I have a theory that Aniseya was going to possess everybody when she was turning into black smoke to stop the fighting but Sol miss read what she was doing. And then Koril did the same smoke possession to a Qimir
I've seen a lot of people complaining that episode 7 was character assassination of the Sol we've come to know. But this older, wiser person was the result of his past. If they had revealed his past to the audience it wouldn't have felt so shocking to see him behaving like he did. Plus we, the audience, would have had the whole season to watch him struggling against some of those old demons: of letting his emotions take over, of needing to save people, of being impulsive. I do not believe the "Jedi mind trick" is even close to the same thing as what we saw Momma Witch do to Torbin. Obi-wan didn't invade, or possess, the Stormtrooper's mind in Ep. 4....he quickly planted a suggestion. If he had forced said stormtrooper to lift his blaster rifle and blow away his buddy, that would have been a form of possession. Just my opinion, obviously. Andor is the pinnacle of a Star Wars series. At every moment, you felt attached the characters. You know what they want, what they are motivated by. They make rational choices. The story pays off entirely, I’m not filling in the blanks. This show is exhausting to discuss.
The Tremors bit was the most entertaining part of this review.
Then stick to watching Gilmore Girls reruns.
@@seanwine1085 i will. Better story and acting then what is portrait in the Acolyte.
We needed to see inside Endara's mind with all the witches doing their thing to see how Endara killed them all.
I suspect a happy ending next Tuesday where Qimir, Sol, Osha and Mae form the Knights of Ren. And good ole’ Master Yoda makes an appearance.
The writing is absolutely trash imo
Tobin can reverse grip one hand block a possesed kalnacca.
The witches die out of no where for no other reason than convenience.
“You think I would let my daughter be taken away by a different cult I disagree with on every ideological level? Yep”
Your praise of the writing is hard for me to understand. It hasn’t earned such praise from me.
Sol reminds me of a stalker
I want this little girl I've been spying on the be my padawan even though I met her for like a minute... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@darmal8770 lol right? he was a little creepy.
Totally stalker vibes lol
His first sight of the girls was them using the force on the alien butterfly. They were searching for a vergeance in the force. It was his literal job to Stalk and investigate. I think we’ll give Sol a pass for that but not for his un Jedi like desires to save her out of fear.
Sol saw witches standing around a scary hole and Mae told them that momma said "all must be sacrificed" as part of their duty. Sol was trying to save the twins. He wasn't stalking them.
That’s a great theory about Sol and Qimir being mirrors of each other
Watch 3 and 7 scene for scene (as if edited together) and several interesting things occur including - Torbin being "summoned" and leaving camp to go get the twins happens as soon as Osha tells Aniseya she wants to be a jedi, not a witch. At that moment, Torbin's debt is being repaid. When Torbin says "This is it", he is referring to getting on his knees and begging Aniseya and this was her granting his wish. This happens right when Koril accuses Sol of using a jedi mind trick on her = witch mind trick on Torbin.
I think people just want to hate Star Wars
The show isn't great, but it isn't the worst show on TV, and not the worst Star Wars show to come out.
I really don't get why everyone just wants everyone to hate it as much as they do, (when half the time all they're doing is regurgitating what some other article/youtuber says)
Maybe it's a misery loves company, being reflected in how dividing the USA is rn and everyone has sportified things and anything that doesn't support their team has to lose, die, and go away.
This isn't just a horribly written star wars story it's a horribly written SHOW period. This is a product that should get people fired.
@@daveg2938 That's like, your opinion dawg
@@zenenzarcon There does seem to be something weird happening. And yes, it does seem to have a similar pattern to it as the overall polarized online culture. I believe that plenty of folks honestly dislike the show, but the heightened emotions and accusations seem out of step with reality. Maybe it's the algorithm playing up controversial videos/comments? Or I've also wondered if there are bad actors playing up the controversy for other reasons? Folks accusing Screencrush of being paid by Disney because they like talking about Star Wars lore feels way over the top for sure.
Thank you for providing an objective review of this episode. Hey, the show is not perfect but it’s not as catastrophic as what most commentators portray it to be. Most have been so blinded by their rabid hate of some aspects of the series that they are unable to appreciate the several gems dropped on each episode.
I think people that like this show are blinded by their love of everything Star Wars and the desperation to see the old republic in live action. None of the lgbt stuff or casting choices bother me. It’s just nonsensical sorry telling, with bizarre character motivations, I don’t feel invested in any characters. Who are we rooting for?
*C'mon Bro...* 🤨
Most people are so blinded by their rabid hate of the shit I took on the floor of KFC© that they are unable to appreciate the several pieces of sweet corn tucked inside of each turd. 😂
*"NUFF SAID"™*
@@snellydrummerboy This is exactly what is unique about the storytelling. It is not your typical good guys vs bad guys. People are so pissed that their angelic view of the jedi is being shattered. It also humanizes the origins of the sith. People simply can't get past this concept.
@@KRDMDyou’re completely wrong, it’s not unique…. It’s just not good, it’s
Clunky and nonsensical, I don’t understand how anyone can consider this good story telling
My guess is it’s structured for the modern age of streaming in order to reward everyone for watching it twice, once in ignorance, once knowing what we learn by the end.
I enjoy the breakdown. Keep up the good work.
Ryan just said the the writing was the best lmaoooo
I like this channel inside look into things, but damn when I hear isht like that it makes me loose respect on their opinion of things!!
I can't watch this channel anymore, used to be my top youtube channel. Something is not right here. Feels like mental gymnastics.
She’s not using The Force nor we are “visualizing” a Jedi mind trick. She is a witch. She’s using dark magic to posses his mind.
He calls in a JMT in the first part of the video then contradicts himself later on by calling it possession. Dude is reaching further than Mr Fantastic checking the mailbox while he's in the shower 😂
I don’t mean to be rude, but “dark magik(magick?)” is the force
@@puundit5339sure they both use the force on “thread” to use their power but I agree with OP this is not a mind trick, this is a straight up domination, their eyes turn black, etc. Jedi mind trick has never been shown to incapacitate people
yeah they're out to lunch on this one. this is closer to mind control than a mind trick. they're clearly not the same, or osha / yord's dialogue in ep 5 makes no sense. "my mother could do that" -> is a nonsense thing to say if literally every jedi can also do it.
@@xtrafunk I think the term is being applied more generally to mean any use of the force that messes with someone else's mind/will. Aniseya is clearly using a force technique very different in nature from the old familiar Jedi mind trick, but it makes sense to put them in a similar category of "mind tricks." The effect is all happening inside the victims mind, i.e no external witnesses can observe it. Obi wan's manipulation of the storm trooper could also reasonably be called "mind control." We don't know what that trooper's inner experience was... it might have been kinda f--ked up.
I'm wondering if Venestra had to make a choice at one point between Sol and Qimir. Venestra used her saber whip on Qimir and he was "thrown away".
My wild theory: Mother Koril is just a body that houses the consciousness of a Sith, "she" didn't die at the end of Ep 7 with the other witches but escapes, and eventually force transfers into the body of Qimir. This would explain Qimir's comments about how long he's been around, and would also add some history with Sol from their confrontation in Ep 7. Or possibly Mother Koril was just a witch but now is inside Qimir with the same results. She's very Sithy.
Stat Wars Funeral for a Franchise, is on Film Threat, July 17th 4pm
Thanks
Finally a fair and logical review of the show. There are many issues and positives that can be discussed without making the conversation hateful
Thank you all for not falling into the trap many other reviewers of this show have been
I’m hopeful that they’ll reveal the ‘other Sith’ is a twin of Sol (ideally with a different voice and affect) and that’s why he’s drawn to the twins, cuz he’s a twin himself -
i'm wondering how they will wrap this up in a satisfying way in one more episode.
Mama witch Aniseya didn’t use the Force to get into Torbin’s head, she used the Thread 😅
This is definitely not my favorite Star Wars show so far, but at the same time is not nearly as bad as some are trying desperately to portray it as.
the blue hair guy loves the show go figure
I want to know the backstory of Kimur and Mae. Did he raise her? He must have for her to get strong enough to defeat a master Jedi. Or if not then how did she survive?? whats she been doing all these years. We know everything about Osha.
“It looks like a TV show”
Man am I about to blow your mind…
Right 😂😂 I'm revealing myself as an 80s kid but I vastly prefer when things look like really cool sets, it instantly brings back memories of awesome sword + sorcery epics from the 80s, like Legend, Krull, Conan. I LOVE the look in the Acolyte and it absolutely does not look cheap but they DO look like sets... that have been worked on for a very long amount of time!
