Which is dumb because with that logic, anakins lightsaber would’ve changed colour A. When he killed the Tuskan Raiders B. When he attacked the Jedi temple C. When he fought obi-wan on mustafar Yet, somehow, it remained blue through all of that. Hmmm.

I'm honestly surprised by how much damage they managed to do in just the final episode alone. Like after the first seven I thought my expectations were rock bottom but they bought a drill and took me on a trip to the center of the earth with this one....
Well. It kinda goes with the current state of society. Nothing surprising anymore ! At least the nightmare is over. Although star wars has died with it. Sad, very sad.

@@aleksander8497 I don't think he was condemned for being male, I personally think the show would be a lot better if Sol apologized for his mistakes and Osha still killed him. That would make a more interesting story, that Osha was so angry that she couldn't accept forgiveness. Idk tho.
Her lightsaber turning red while activated is so stupid. So, at that moment, she "bled" her kyber crystal by using anger and the dark side which turned it from blue to red. If that's how it works, then why did Anakin's lightsaber stay blue the entire time he was fighting Obi-Wan on Mustafar? I'd say he was even angrier and in much more despair, so much so that he lost control and choked the one thing he loved the most and tried to save and tried to kill his mentor and father figure immediately after. This is another reason that Disney's bleeding the crystal BS is stupid and I dislike it so much.
They have no idea how anything in star wars works. They just keep making up crap. I'm glad this travesty has brought us all back together as a fandom though.

I made a much less articulate comment regarding this, thanks for using the lore accurate words and citing an event like Anakin on Mustafar. Totally grossed me out seeing that reach. Actually, I'm not entirely convinced people did write it; the whole thing feels like something vomited up by some mindless AI trained on literary tropes with literally no idea what it's saying, let alone how those tropes must be restricted by things like physics or causality, particularly the stuff like stone buildings burning down, people travelling half-way across the galaxy and back as casually as if they were just walking into an adjoining room, and literally motiveless grand betrayals.
@@tommcewan7936 It's true. I asked Microsoft Copilot to "create a woke film script in the style of Star Wars" and it printed out stuff that's indistinguishable from Disney Star Wars. Everyone should try. We can laugh at the results here. My favourite part of the script I got out of Copilot was: "Ayla and her team return to the Galactic Alliance, where they are honored for their bravery. The film ends with a hopeful message about the power of diversity and unity in overcoming challenges." I also liked: "Ayla confronts Darth Vex, emphasizing the importance of unity and understanding."
This. Goes to show. Education system for learning, writing and nods to "critical drinker" critical thinking concerning character, plots and endings. All gone.
Here's another excerpt or two from that script I got out of Microsoft Copilot: Star Wars: The New Dawn, Scene 3: Assembly of the Team. Ayla, a young Jedi Knight of mixed heritage, is sent on a mission to investigate the disturbances. Ayla meets her team, including Kara, a non-binary pilot, Zara, a Twi'lek engineer, and Ryn, a former stormtrooper seeking redemption. (I asked Copilot which heritages Ayla has, and it came up with half human half Mirialan. I asked for a picture of that, and got a black girl with a giant afro. I asked for Ryn's description and got "hispanic"). Kara: (Smiling) “Hey, Ayla. I’m Kara, your pilot. My pronouns are they/them. Ready to take us wherever we need to go.” Ryn: (Nervously) “I’ve got a bad feeling about this.” Scene 4: Mysterious Force. Ayla's team travels to a remote planet where they encounter oppressed locals. Scene 6: Sith Battle. Darth Vex seeks to exploit divisions within the Galactic Alliance. Ayla and her team stand at the entrance of a dark, foreboding temple. (I asked for Vex's description and was told "Human White Male, Late 40s". I asked for a better Vex and Copilot gave him a combat droid). Ayla: (Determined) “We stand united, stronger than you can imagine.” Kara: (Raising their blaster) “We won’t let you tear us apart.” Ayla: (Focused) “I fight for peace, for unity. That’s something you’ll never understand.”
Apparently Osha can find it in her heart to understand and forgive the Sith that murdered multiple innocent Jedi just doing their jobs, including an old friend of hers and one that she was starting to develop a bond with… But the second her old master, that cared for her for much of her life, turned out to be responsible for her mother’s justified death over a decade ago, suddenly she wants to force choke him to death. I like how, previously, Bazil was suspicious of Mae, even attacked her and seemingly told Sol so that he could stun her. Then, as soon as she woke up and she escaped, Bazil sabotaged the ship so that she could get away. So, he was responsible for both her capture and her escape, all seemingly only hours apart.

If this gets another season, that's my confirmation that $180 million budget was an embezzlement scheme. There's no other way they could afford repeating this disaster.
I think this show is coming from a specific socio-philosophical point of view. When a cop tells a guy "Stop reaching for your pants" fifteen times, and then shoots the guy when he reaches for his pants, there's a certain segment of the population that view the cop as the villain of the story. This show was written by people that think if a lesbian space witch turns into smoke monster and starts vaporizing her daughter, and is then killed, that this killing is a completely unjustifiable action. Except normal people look at this sequence of events and go "Yep, I would have put her down as well." The writers of this show fundamentally don't understand the nature of perceived threats and their logical consequences.
It's not so much that Disney owns them than that critics depend on being invited to events, given access to content and being part of the professional circles to work. To do that, they need to stay the heck away from sensitive talking points because the far left famously loves eating their own for even the slightest misstep. So once a show has been deemed "progressive", they can't afford to be critical until the tide turns. They have to wait for general sentiment to signal that it is okay to dislike the show before they can actually level criticism. Until then it's stunning and brave because anything else means they lose their job. If they hop in too soon, they get excluded. No more invites, no access, no quotes and links. Might even get removed from the list entirely so that their ratings no longer appear on rotten tomatoes to begin with. Not defending them, mind, caving to this nonsense means that their output is essentially worthless for the intended purpose of telling people if a show is worth watching, but there are reasons other than blatant bribery that they all tend to follow the same notes.
I wouldn’t say it’s THAT bad when it comes to production, but it’s really bad when it comes to writing and lore. They just put in Yoda and Plagueis and Ki Adi Mundi to give themselves any connection to Star Wars. So many small, annoying errors like saying mekneks are doing the jobs that R2 units are for, when it’s any kind of astromech droids, not just specifically R2’s. That’s how stupid these people are, they just write down things they have no understanding of, and since R2 is the only droid they’ve ever seen, must be that…

I have the suspicion the Acolyte was written to a large extent by a Chat-Bot like ChatGPT or something like that. The inconsistent and illogical behavior of the characters, among other things, would indicate that, since those Chatbots often diverge from or completely ignore previously established facts.
I am 100% hundred percent sure that a pretender and faker like Leslye Headland would use it because she would never sit down for hours and actually do hard work... She even said in a interview that first you lie and take the job.. Then you pretend you know how to do it.. She used chatGPT 120%
As someone who uses Chat GPT quite regularly for writing short stories no... Just No. Give Chat GPT just an idea and what comes out is far superior to the Acolyte. Its scary how good it is.
even ChatGPT would have come with something better, considering it is a learning algorithm that follows rules and commands/prompts, thus it would spit something half-way decent, if a bit stale in terms of writing material. This level of inconsistency can only be achieved by half-baked and half-assed "writers" that had no respect for story flow and story-telling, too busy chugging the Kool-Aid of the *Message* . Honestly, it's not even a story. It's simply a mish-mash of poorly thought out ideas, heavily influenced by the writer's own bias. I think the worst part was the lightsaber slowly turning red. If that's not the most ham fisted, superficial interpretation of the Star Wars Universe then I don't know what is.
There's a comic where Darth Vader has to make a red lightsaber crystal and it is a process that involves killing a Jedi, disassembling their lightsaber, and pouring dark side energy into the crystal to align it to the dark side of the Force, turning it red. Other methods include making synthetic crystals, which are typically red from their manufacturing. As far as what remains of SW lore, a lightsaber can't just change color because the wielder is seduced to the dark side.
A minor thing that blew my mind was when Master Sol was chasing what's-her-name-can't-keep-them-straight through the asteroid belt (one of many that seem to plague the SW galaxy), his gopher sidekick for some reason decided to pull wires out of the wall of the ship and sabotage it in mid-flight! When Sol wrestled his ship down to a safe landing, instead of fricasseeing the little shit, he stalked off like nothing had happened! Then the gopher was treated like one of the gang again when reinforcements arrived! Either the characters or the writers are too stupid to be allowed to continue.

I got rid of it when I heard about what they are doing with the Acolyte. Never watched and not going to support Disney. One thing I'm a bit disappointed about is that they gobbled up National Geographic...
"What was the point?" - There wasn't one. Modern writers are so terrible they don't even have a point. They don't know that they are supposed to use the fictional events to convey a message of some kind. They are just inexperienced kids with no life experience howling into a void of pointlessness. Pathetic.
It's manufactured "plot twist!" drama that is superficial and just there to fek with the viewer who they know will be so bored and uninvested in a moment they'll be wandering off trying to pick what comes next. Unfortunately writing plot and characters who change things up but who still think and act like actual people is hard, and the best they can do is emotionally crippled morons who change their motivations in (at times psychopathically) short time frames
"They are just inexperienced kids with no life experience" I think this is a key point. Hollywood writers used to be adults. People with spouses, wartime service, and full lives. Now they're manufactured, disposable drones churned out of leftwing factories (universities) and dumped into a machine where they sit on committees with other people just like them. They write what they know, which is nothing. It's pathetic.
Kind of ironic: Disney is the biggest promoter of the Expanded Universe by now, and it isn't even intentional - it's just that everything they make pales in comparison to what came before them.
You know how some bullies in grade school would leave you alone once they realize they can't get a rise out of you, but other bullies realize they can push you further and further so they do more and more heinous things because they're just that determined to ruin you? That's what these writers feel like.
Yes, disney are the kind of bullies that hope you will take it with no resistance. That way they know they can keep doing worse and worse things to you for their own demented pleasure.
You forgot the worst part, the final scene with Yoda. If they are implying that he covered all of this up, it severely undermines him as a revered character or sets him up to be completely inept if he knew about this and did nothing before Palpatine.
Just trying to pull down all the revered characters so you can crap on them subsequently. That way their ambiguous and nihilistic worldview can pat itself on the back and substitute itself for what was previously "paternalistic" (in a good way). These people seem to despise any sort of objectively decent viewpoint that doesn't accord with their highly revisionist views. They'd say that's "nuance". I say that's ideology presenting itself as reality.

the craziest thing about Sols death/character arc in general is that you get the impression that Leslie and the rest of the creative team thought that we as an audience would be championing his failure and eventual “comeuppance.” it’s the same way many have pointed out that Han Solo’s death in TFA is normally the sort of death you reserve for a VILLAIN character, not the hero of the story. (getting stabbed, falling off a freakin’ cliff into an explosion, etc.) The bottom line is, while flawed, Sol is arguably the most morally upstanding character in the series, and even a decade ago would easily be portrayed as a heroic figure at the least, and the protagonist of the story at most. You can almost feel how this whole episode they’re attempting to frame him as a traitorous “Peter Pettigrew i deserve what’s coming to me” type, when in reality- Weasel boi betraying him, Osha/Mae choking him out, and the entire freaking Jedi order throwing him under the bus just ends up leaving a bitter taste in the audiences mouth. Long story short: I’m sick of Heroes getting punished in these stories. #SolDidNothingWrong
This show went through a multitude of reshoots and rewrites. My theory is Sol was portrayed much worse but they didn't have the spine to go through with their own story idea that nobody wanted to see anyways (the Jedi being bad) so instead they rewrote it all to be a confused mess with no real villain.

It’s so hard to believe people actually wrote this script, got paid and they actually filmed it.
@@tommcewan7936
It's true. I asked Microsoft Copilot to "create a woke film script in the style of Star Wars" and it printed out stuff that's indistinguishable from Disney Star Wars. Everyone should try. We can laugh at the results here. My favourite part of the script I got out of Copilot was:
"Ayla and her team return to the Galactic Alliance, where they are honored for their bravery.
All gone.
Here's another excerpt or two from that script I got out of Microsoft Copilot:
Star Wars: The New Dawn, Scene 3: Assembly of the Team.
Ready to take us wherever we need to go.”
Ryn: (Nervously) “I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”
Scene 4: Mysterious Force.
Ayla: (Determined) “We stand united, stronger than you can imagine.”
Kara: (Raising their blaster) “We won’t let you tear us apart.”
Ayla: (Focused) “I fight for peace, for unity. That’s something you’ll never understand.”

Look how it rates on R.T: 80% from the critics vs 15% from the audience. Disney clearly ownes most of the "critics" these days.
Or they all went to the same Woke Marxist schools.
I guess that's where some of those 180 Million bucks went.

U underrestimate ChatGPT. I think any AI would have done better 😂
There is no reflection; no lesson to be learned from it; there is no morals to be glimpsed from it.

I was so confused why 1 person had to stay behind instead of the twins and premium Ezra Miller escaping together. The best explanation my husband and I could come up with is their spaceship only had 2 seats and they didn't want to share a seat
I think the worst part was the lightsaber slowly turning red. If that's not the most ham fisted, superficial interpretation of the Star Wars Universe then I don't know what is.
Lightsabers are now mood rings!
I can't believe this hasn't been called out more at this point. I mean come on... that's not how this works!
Not to mention, Anakin’s lightsaber remained blue even after murdering the Younglings and the Separatist council.
@@bobogus7559 which by itself, no words, strikes a contrast to what we've seen Jedi (and Anakin's therefore) do with lightsabers.
Then the gopher was treated like one of the gang again when reinforcements arrived!

i like how yoda was the only one who could see into the future well because he was a 900 year old master but the 20yr old girl can do it with no real training because reasons
1. The Jedi approach the witches with regard to Osha
2. The witches initiate hostilities
3. The progress of events causes what would seem to be a clash between Sol and Mother Aniseya
4. Mother Aniseya is in motion to transform into something resembling the Mind Flayer -- a move positively threatening in appearance
5. Sol stabs her in self-defence
6. She dies saying she was simply going to consent???
How did folk at Lucasfilm go over this and say, "Nah! It'll be fine!"? Did no one ask: "Why does she have to do the transformation thing instead of simply consenting?"?
Additionally, how does Lucasfilm expect us to perceive the Jedi as bad through this sequence of events?

"What was the point?" - There wasn't one. Modern writers are so terrible they don't even have a point. They don't know that they are supposed to use the fictional events to convey a message of some kind. They are just inexperienced kids with no life experience howling into a void of pointlessness. Pathetic.
Not every story needs a point, but if it's going to be just for entertainment, it needs to be ENTERTAINING. Nothing about this is.
Inspirational messages are symptomatic of patriarchal oppression.

the craziest thing about Sols death/character arc in general is that you get the impression that Leslie and the rest of the creative team thought that we as an audience would be championing his failure and eventual “comeuppance.”
it’s the same way many have pointed out that Han Solo’s death in TFA is normally the sort of death you reserve for a VILLAIN character, not the hero of the story. (getting stabbed, falling off a freakin’ cliff into an explosion, etc.)
The bottom line is, while flawed, Sol is arguably the most morally upstanding character in the series, and even a decade ago would easily be portrayed as a heroic figure at the least, and the protagonist of the story at most.
You can almost feel how this whole episode they’re attempting to frame him as a traitorous “Peter Pettigrew i deserve what’s coming to me” type, when in reality-
Weasel boi betraying him, Osha/Mae choking him out, and the entire freaking Jedi order throwing him under the bus just ends up leaving a bitter taste in the audiences mouth.
