The fact that they removed the ultra sonic sensors before having the camera only update ready is insane..
100
How much do you use those? Back, there is rear view camera... Front... You can see forward very well...
as "insane" as buying twitter for $44 billion?
e then you will say that is also insane when the camera will perform much better than USS.... never happy eh?
@@massimovergerio2151 it will be awesome when the camera can do that. However, they went on and removed a basic feature that every car on the road has today… without actually replacing it with the new software yet. They should have gone about making and testing the software first, and then removed it on new cars. As of right now, most cars are also still delivered with the old cameras, but no sensors… and we still do not know how this will affect the functionality in the future, as the new 5mp cameras should in theory work better. What we could be seeing is that all cars without USS and old cameras either needs a retrofit of the new cameras only shipping in the US for now, or will be worse than the ones who had USS before it. It seems as if they just ran out of parts, and decided to just move on to the next phase without being completely ready.
A good concise video. Bravo. I’m picking up mine tomorrow morning, hope all goes well :)
Congrats!
Actually glad ur video was short…not many changes; I have the 2021 year. Love it.
Yes, you are not missing much
It looks great! The gaps looked fine to me. I have 2 and love them. Enjoy the car!!! The chargers are awesome also... I made a 20A 120v capable plug for the portable charger on top of both their chargers...Just for special occasions... I also got the ccs adapter kit so I can fill up ANYWHERE...
Helpful video, thanks...Beautiful car!! I'm currently driving a 2019 M3, same exterior/interior and I LOVE it! With the recent price drops, it's SO tempting to upgrade to a 2023 M3...
you mean a Model 3? M3 is made by BMW
Congrats!
I own a Model 3, and the misalignments are also pretty obvious, despite Tesla service says they are ok. But everybody who buy a Tesla knows the quality issues (mainly esthetic and noise), but as you say the car performance and efficiency are at other level
Congratulations BTW 🎉
Thanks! 😁
Beautiful car enjoy!
I have the same alignment issue with my charger port, plus my headlights. Have my service appointment this week.
They did nothing for mine. But I had a small chip in the front bumper, like really small, and they are replacing the whole thing. I don't get their logic.
I Love The Fact That Tesla Keeps Their Car's Exterior The Same.
Looks gorgeous, enjoy it.
Thank you!
I got the 2022 M3P a few months ago and life it, not having USS looks nice but it’s crazy that they removed them BEFORE having the software ready..
Is it possible to install aftermarket LEDs and have interior ambient lighting?
Just a heads up, if a camera has increased MP, that doesn't mean when filming said camera, the video will be clearer. ONLY the camera that has been upgraded will have better video
Hello, just wondering if the frunk includes the auto open / close feature of if it's manual
Still manual
Thank you for your very professional video. I pick up tomorrow my 2023 Model 3 in Lyon (France) coming from Shanghai. It's not very clear how to determine if cameras are upgraded or not. Same for upgrading suspension, how to check ? If someone has tips, I am interested.
Congrats!
I was wondering the same about the Chinese built model 2023 Teslas. How do they differ from 2022 or those built in Germany or Fremont?
Honestly can’t believe they removed the sensors. And I can’t imagine the “Tesla vision” being as accurate and precise as the older sensors. I have a 2020 model 3 and love it. Just wish it had more range. Was planning on getting a 2023 but no sensors is a big deal to me. So I’ll wait and see how the new “Tesla vision” works before I make the switch. But my 2020 model 3 has been great. 65k miles and not a single major issue to date
Might buy a 2020 model 3 long range for $40k, it has 30k miles. Thoughts? Otherwise a brand new 2023 one is $56k
@@sef9512 if it’s the long range I say go for it. The newer ones are nicer with the chrome delete and new center console but I’ve found myself to not really care. That’s a good price for the low milage that thing has. I paid a lot more then that for mine and it had about double that mileage. May not have been my smarted decision lmao but I still love the car.
@@DillonCleans its a long range with performance boost. i found one with 14k miles for 42k. im seeing 2019s go for 38k and below now so who knows if the prices will go below 35k maybe?
Thank you for your quick help, its tough with youtube comment section to get replies haha
when you look at the rear camera or sentry camera video, do they look clearer?
I don’t have a way to compare but they don’t look like 80kCAD car camera that is for sure
Do the rear doors have the emergency manual door latch? On the Model Y, each rear door’s drink holder has a small tab in the bottom that allows for the door to open from the inside physically
Yeah the 2023 model 3 have 2 ways to open the door. The button or manual hatch also on the door panel
0:32 is there mismatched paint on the quarter panel and driver's door?
I prefer the ultrasonic sensors
great video, i just took delivery of my m3 rwd 2023 last friday and did the new update 2022.40.4 yesterday.
Congrats! I also got the 40.4 update yesterday, cheers! :)
With 2022.40.4 software and not USS (ultrasonic captor) , park assist is now available or not ? Many thanks !
whats the 0-60/0-100 speed on the 2023 rwd?
So is there an upgraded camera?
@@bf1420 i would need to compare side by side with an older one
You have newer camera the round circle around camera lens is indication of new camera
Do we know when the functions disabled by the removal of uss will be added again?
No one knows!
What about double glas in the rear windows?
No, only front on mine
Do you have the front fog lights? My 2022 M3 RWD doesn't have it.
No fog lights for RWD
Can you confirm if cameras are upgraded? And also if rear windows are dual pane as well?
*No dual pan rear windows. Side cameras received a slight change, but nothing significant. No USS. Rear amber turn signals. No license plate holder. No J7172 charge adapter.*
First of all, congratulations on your new purchase!
How is the ride in this 2023 model? There were rumors that later got confirmed regarding the new suspension, being more comfortable while keeping the sporty feel of a RWD car. How do you find it?
Thank you! I didn't drive the previous models so I can't really compare but it is more on the sporty side than comfortable one I would say.
@@MrDIYca "sporty "😅🤣😂 not comfortable at all
RS and M series are harsh rides. Comes with the territory.
@@badhairday_247 What is RS and M series?
I believe he is referring to the performance Audios and BMWs (RS4/M3)
does your 2023 Model 3 also have the updated suspension? I am curious how it improves the ride...
Noway to tell. Maybe I will ask the service centre next time I am in.
I think if your paying hell even 25k for a car quality control should be immaculate just my opinion. They should all be checked prior to delivery with a fine tooth comb. Anything even remotely wrong paint misalignment, dash rattle squeaking etc. Should be taken care of prior to you even getting your hands on the car. What 48k the model 3 base costs thats too much for these problems to occur there are far cheaper options that have less issues.
mega pixel increase happens on the capture chip not external glass you cannot see it externaly. Maybe by looking at quality of the video you can tell
I take delivery of my very own 2023 model 3 here in a few weeks, and it is crazy to think that the ultrasonic sensors have been removed at a time when Tesla vision is not yet ready to take over. I initially was going to get enhanced autopilot, but I'm so glad that I optioned not to considering that over half of the features would be disabled, making that $6,000 almost completely worthless.
Having no parking assist functions is going to be really rough, especially considering that I'll be parking the car in a small garage.
I really hope they bring it back pretty soon, but for now, I am using the tennis ball trick in the garage to figure out where to stop.
Real drivers dont need help parking
People have been parking cars for 100 years without technology. You can do it!
@@jonathanm8273 most teslas are probably owned by new drivers. I always see them with curb rash and driving slow af.
@@jonathanm8273 ok, Tesla fanboy.
The interior lights are disabled on the standard range model, only active/available on the long range and performance as a feature. As for the misalignments/quality, you have it wayyy better than I did. That looks ok.
Yes, I just learned to live with it and enjoy the car!
Thanks for the info, but this is ridiculous from Tesla side. It’s a +$45k car! Unfortunately I had to move from LR to SR since my LR lease expires in 1 week and there’s no LR to buy. The new M3 Std coming next week as well.
You can turn on the dome lights on the app. $8/mo 😂
Can you record a clip with the camera and check the resolution of the footage on a computer?
H.264 1280 × 960 but the image quality is bad, as in, a $10 dashcam bad - ibb.co/CJrWbkq
@@MrDIYca Thanks! It does not look "upgraded" indeed. Same old 1.3 MP camera I guess.
@@amnisakkiz6126 My guess is that its still recording at the same resolution and bitrate as the older cams, and like when they started installing the heated steering wheels and heated wipers, they'll enable the full functionality sometime down the line (not too sure tho lol)
Camera is different with my one 2021. It is definitely bigger. Maybe to wait software update or setting somewhere
@@empedance1933 I hope so!
You forgot to mention the suspension upgrade and the rear seat bottom side is 3mm longer
what's the 0-100?
Are you going to try to do the speaker upgrade? I’m curious to know if the 2023 model could still do that.
No the speakers don't bother me - however, I got one and installed one of these geni.us/pAIK2vN
@@MrDIYca can you type the name of this product, the link doesn't work.
Has Tesla fixed the heating problems?
Could you please tell me the difference in the 3, y and x, no one covers that for us newbies. TY
3 = Saloon, Tesla's least expensive EV.
X = Luxury SUV with futuristic gull wing doors and optional Plaid spec for overtaking boy racer Dads in Audi RS6s on the M25 at midnight. (This is a UK thang.)
Y = A lower priced Model X shaped SUV with same drive chain as the 3 and regular doors.
S = What you buy at the onset of middle age crisis. The older models are ageing gracefully, like their owners. Will always remain a classic.
Roadster = Where dit go?? (Fastest 0 to 60 of any vehicle, once it ships that is.)
My 2022 MIC is perfect. I couldnt find a thing wrong.
That is awesome!
I got Model Y 2023 with sensors
A few things to note:
Cars built in the Gigafactory China :
1. Appear on the weight of evidence to have better build quality than US built cars
2. Still have ultrasonic sensors
3. Will also get the camera upgrades in the software release
are the camera image clearer ?
They look the same to me compared to what I saw online
Is this a Freemont car?
The 2023 model comes with ultra sonic as standard in Australia it’s law to have them
I got a new 2023 Tesla Model 3 with 280 mile range. It was 38K minus the 4K they are giving back to customers as credits. 34K total out the door. Cost the same as a fully loaded VW sedan.
Sad that gas prices are already down to under 4 dollars in California here, was 6 dollars during the summer.
Congrats, that is a good deal!
How did you get the 2023 Model 3? You can't order that in the US yet.
Since October 2022, all the Teslas produced are 2023 Models. And you can order them everywhere in the world.
We picked one up a few days ago
It is the Long Range not available to pre order since August 3. This is is RW, Single Motor, Once in a while ., there are Long Range pre configured available on Tesla Website, check them out
@@Laszlobal I took delivery of my Model 3 Dual Motor in September! I missed it by a month! Ah man! But i wanted the long range anyway
For the ambient lights not turning on (LED is there but not on - door pocket, foot well, etc) is there a setting for that in CONTROLS >> LIGHTS?
Not for the RWD version
It’s kind of a ridiculous feature to disable on a $48K car.
And what´s about the suspension? Elon announced an "comfort suspension" for the new Model 3/Y 2023!
I would probably be accepting of that panel alignment. Though I would say that my MIC February 2022 M3LR doesn't have anything that significant. I suspect that your car is out of Freemont?
I wonder if the engineers being bought over from Shanghai will show the Californians how to do quality control!?
Have you checked the USB ports for data? All have power but only the glove box one in my car 'talks' to the computer. So all the fun things like dashcam, game controllers, USB hi bit music, lightshows... have to go via the glove box USB - very annoying if you want to play around!
how much range does this car get in full charge?
It says 430km
@@MrDIYca ok
the red with white interior is sexyyyyy!!! just a random q, is your insurance way higher bc it’s a red car? i’ve heard that that’s the case years ago lol idk if it’s a stereotype or not
Thanks, love it! No one knows lol ... I feel the whole insurance industry is a scam when it comes to coming up with numbers - monkeys on typewriters level!
Did you put a ppf on it !
no
I'd love to know if the 2023 model 3 have HW 4.0 and upgraded cameras as you mentioned. It's good to know for future proofing.
No, they don't have HW 4.0
sounds about right
@@jasonfranciosa So is there an upgraded camera?
@@bf1420 No one has confirmed yet, but it looks so far like there is not. Just an upgraded housing and possibly lens.
@@jasonfranciosa Thank you for your reply, if you are sure there is an upgrade, can you please let me know. I am in Taiwan, Taiwan is about to welcome the first batch of Model y in December, I have been waiting for a long time!! Finally got it. I wonder if there are any new upgrades made in Berlin, Germany. But it is not easy to get information in Taiwan😵💫
So crazy they have removed the parking sensors. Literally no need to remove something that worked perfectly, and you may now ding your car due to this.
Yup! if you find a red Tesla parked at the far end of a parking lot, that will be me! :)
Yalk can't park without park assist? That's sad
There are millions of people driving cars without any sort of collision detection and they have no issues.
@@hecticphusion I don't agree. When parking a car with parking assistance, is always going to reduce risk of scratching and hitting poles. Also when driving my Tesla has pulled me across a lane due to a speeding car... these features are no longer active on Teslas with USS removed until the software has been updated.
Of course there are loads of cars in the world without this. but this is a feature us Tesla users have and New users have taken away from them, so its a step backwards
is your car fremont or austin build?
Fremont
Shame about the panel gaps. Where was your car made?
Fremont
LFP BATTERY?
Yes
you Tesla vehicles foe the look, not for the quality..
Model 3 is a thing of beauty in exterior design
Here are some close-up shots for your reference. Wasn't expecting humor in this. lol
It’s almost like we know best and the experts don’t know what they’re doing.
I know what you mean! I get a couple of apple fritters and Dunkin Donuts once a weak and about a month ago they reduced the size by 15-20% but charge the same. Some people think it's shady but hey, they're the experts!
NIO ET5 for same price accelerates in 4 seconds, more luxurios inetrior plus battery swap technology
Not really - the only comparable market where both are sold at the moment is Sweden (Prices in $'000 Kroner) - Base Model 3 = 497, LR = 587, Performance = 622 all come with batteries.
The NIO (only 1 spec) without a battery = 556, with a 75kw battery = 686 with 100kw battery 796.
On top of the cost of the car without a battery there is a 1800kr per month mandatory fee to rent a battery. After 16 months you have paid the same as a model 3 long range and after 5 years 77,000 kr more in car cost plus battery rental (almost 14% more over 5 years) or 99,000 kr more if I bought the car with the battery (17% more) - you will have 35% less range than the Tesla and can only DC charge max 100kw so will take at least 50% longer to charge at a 150kw + DC station.
Yes there are benefits to battery swaps (battery end of life etc) but the monthly fee pays off a battery in 6 years after that you are paying more than someone with a battery.
After 5 years you have paid 95% as much as someone who bought the car with the battery upfront but good luck selling for 60% of the car with a battery because they come with a 1800kr a month fee or 130k kr battery cost.
Once the battery system swap is going for a few years you could drive your brand new NIO to the battery swap centre and get a 6 year old battery with reduced range and performance swapped in - it's up to NIO to determine what is still a good battery - nice feeling for a new car.
The NIO with the smallest battery is 10% more than a performance model 3 - with a 0-60 in 3.1 seconds (3.3 0-100km/h) - for me at least there is no way I would chose the NIO over a performance model 3. Alternatively the model 3 LR with acceleration boost for 20k kr will give you the same real world 0-100 as the NIO but a faster 1/4 mile, 35% more range, 50% faster charging (slower than a battery swap obviously) and much better resale value.
NIO customers in China have been demanding NIO let them out of their BAAS (Battery as a service) fee and let them buy a battery - NIO announced a few weeks ago they would let buyers do this - initially you had to make the choice for the life of the car - battery swaps are obviously not for everyone given there must be more than a handful of customers demanding to be able to buy a battery for NIO to give in and allow this.
Seems that you got unlucky. I got mine delivered on Oct. 29th, and all the panel gaps were perfect. Nothing was exposed or anything.
Awesome, congrats!
whats the 0-60/0-100 speed on the 2023 rwd?
@@MarkdorsettGG I think it’s still 6.1 but idk for sure
which factory did this come from?
Fremont
The trunk is always gonna have a bigger gap because the way it opens.
That gap is unacceptable nonetheless.
@@moraisgkm no it’s not, that’s the gap for where the trunk opens. How the truck opens makes sense that the gap would look like that. Otherwise it would scratch itself.
Do you see a difference in quality of the cameras on screen?
I don't ... but for some odd reason, I am still stuck on 2022.28.300!
Did you ask what are the specs. Also, you would like to see the written specs.
Is this MiG or MiC (Germany or China)?
I thought Germany were only making the Y presently
Germany only build the Y LR and Performance in white, black and the new colors
Neither, it is made in North America.
It seems like all the crappy teslas with poor quality are from Fremont.
Chinese build teslas seems to have have good quality. I have a SR+ 2021 MiC with no quality issues whatsoever.
Its ironic worrying about american quality over chinese
I heard the same thing too. I don't understand why can't the service center perform a quick QA before handing over the cars!
@@MrDIYca I’m sure they do and allow for minor misalignments. It’s likely due to the China factory being so new and having all state of art equipment that cars from there have no imperfections. Fremont will get there eventually. Or at least let’s hope.
The extra interior lights are built but just disabled? I thought they didn't exist on the RWD as another cost saving measure, but they're simply software disabled? What the hell? You have them built-in already, the car is a "luxury" car so just turn them on Tesla.
Idk why teslas have so many gaps and misalignments
Take your car to another service center if the one you used couldn't help. Some service centres are better than others
thanks, I might try that
Glad I got a used 2021 model
Did you get it from Tesla? I heard they include FSD in the price
the carmeras look bigger
which year is yours?
@@MrDIYca we have a 2022 and my bro has a 2023
Do you see a diff on the screen between yours and his?
why did you need to buy bought chargers? just the mobile one would be enough. the wall charger is barely faster and cost 2x. most of the time on long roadtrip, you supercharge only anyways
I didn’t like the idea of plugging and unplugging the charger everyday
@@MrDIYca you need a mobile charger on you everyday? I rarely unplug mine
yes, I get free charging at work
Yes, you are right, NEMA 1450 should stay plug in, repeated plug and unplug will loosen contact and cause higher resistance and raise heat inside
The mobile charger gets about 3 miles an hour, but the wall charger gets bout 30 miles an hour ( in the UK at least)
Mobile charger plugs in a 13Amp socket, while the wall charger in hard wired to a 32amp supply
Within spec 😅
I would not worry about the alignment issues, Not visible from a distance and will never affect the operation. Just enjoy the car.
💯
If I’m paying over 50K for a car, there should not be misalignments.
WTF. Misalignment not fixed??? For all that money you paid for the car, they should've fix it !!!!
I know right!
Couldn’t agree more. What are you paying for if you still have misalignments.
Tesla quality is tesla quality unfortunately lol
"tesla quality"
Unfortunately it’s the tesla quality…however after a couple months of drives, you’ll get used to those panel gaps
I have the 2021 model RWD SR+ and personally I still think it’s better than 2022 and 2023. Yes you’ll say “no it’s got the LFP battery” yeah which is heavier making the car slower than the previous. Mine also came with the charger before the change they made. Conclusion: same car with no ultra sonic sensors and slower 😂
Until one day they disable the ultrasonic sensors like they did with radar 😂
The new 12v battery is lighter than old . Plus aftermarket makes a lion battery too. Your battery is heavier and less reliable.
Same design for 10 years
Its time for a change
4 year old car. How can it be 10 years?
Elon will eventually move out MADE in USA, because the employee just ........................... Build quality is no GOOD compare to China and Japan. You don't see your Iphone or Samsung phone with huge gap LOL
Really shameful that they still delivery bad build quality vehicles. They’re not a new brand anymore.
Looks souch cleaner without the sensors. Glad they did away with that
So basically its a downgrade for higher price
Terrible fit/finish ……Basement bargain 😂
Tesla quality is just that…..tesla quality…..they wanna push as many cars as possible compromising quality…..
I’m waiting for 400 mile range and automatic front trunk. The white interior is Super Ugly
Actually it’s not and holds up quite well. Beauty is in eye of beholder and you’re blind.
@@alexnutcasio936 I may be blind but it’s better than being a Girly Man with a White Interior!
