    Here is another thing to consider when saying consumers are choosing EVs. As a person looking for a Camry Hybrid for the last 7 months, the dealership experience is horrible. Nothing in stock, and allocations sell before arrival. Add that dealers know this and are marking up vehicles anywhere from 2500 to 50000 over MSRP. Being able to hop online and get your order in directly with the manufacturer is a god send. No bait and switch, you get exactly what you want and updates when its due to arrive.

      this is why I'm considering going with a Tesla when I jump to an EV. there are other EVs I was looking in to but having to deal with dealership BS is not something I want to do.

      Holy damn, this has been my experience and dealerships have changed a ton as of recently. You can’t even negotiate prices and non-hybrid Camrys are running at $700/month with a few thousand down. With no down, you get a customized-to-buyer’s liking Tesla model 3 for the same for zero down. So I just said F it and placed an order for a model 3

      Same here! Was gonna get a bimmer....too many games with these dealers with 6-12 month wait times for hyped models....instead, went for a brand new 2022 MS LR w/3 miles on odometer, took only 1 week to get if you buy existing inventory (vs custom order build out)

      I ordered my SR using the Tesla App. 2 weeks later I showed up, unlocked the vehicle with my phone... a guy walked out and had me sign a few papers, asked if I had any questions and then went back inside. A massive change from horrific dealer experiences in the past.

    I picked up my 2023 Model 3 SR from my local service center this past weekend! So far things are looking great aside from the lack of USS (squeezing into the garage can be challenging and there aren't any warnings without the USS). It was nice to see the LFP battery in there just as noted in this video. Hopefully the battery will last for a very long time. It'll be nice to not have to deal with setting charge limits and then worrying about forgetting to change them for a trip. Overall, the whole process was really, really smooth. Got registered, financed, and insured in about 15 minutes in the app after placing my order. No paperwork to deal with whatsoever.

    Don’t forget to mention that 2023 cars with no USS seem to have new cameras that appear to have wider angle lenses. These may even be the higher resolution 5mp Samsung cameras (that will replace the lower resolution 1.2mp existing cameras). Photos of the two cameras side by side are just starting to appear on blogs of customers who have just taken delivery of their 2023 model cars. Removal of the USS will have saved money that likely offsets the potentially more expensive better cameras!

    Went to the dealership to test drive a 2019 model 3. I waited over an hour and a half while three other people test drove it. The first two passed and the last person ended up buying it. I wasted almost two hours of my dad and there isn’t much they could have done, but they did not communicate this with me at all and I had to finally walk up to the last person and ask if they were purchasing. I probably would have sat there for another twenty minutes before the salesman told me I was out of luck.
    I went home and ordered a new model 3 through Tesla and the experience has been flawless.

    LFP is also rated for roughly 5,000 cycles. At 270 miles of range, and accounting for loss, you will get 270*5,000*0.8= 1,080,000 miles out of that battery pack. That’s pretty awesome! Also, my M3-LR ‘19 got the vision based downgrade for Autopilot, it is significantly worse than the LiDAR version, in every way. The auto brights feature is terrible too because it blasts oncoming traffic with brights all the time.

    The new low voltage battery is actually on a 16V infrastructure and has a circuit board up top to allow for better monitoring. The previous 12v system was known for dying pretty easily during large firmware updates since there was no high voltage support from the BMS(battery monitoring system) as the systems would not speak to each other for safety reasons. The 16V architecture allows for much better and more reliable standby and battery control.

    I never use autopark - and smart summon is a party trick that I use to convince people that it can drive itself - but never in practice. HOWEVER simple straight line summon (forward or reverse) is amazingly useful - I'd miss it for sure. Reverse summon would be huge - except that it'll be parking itself a long way away and now I'd NEED smart-summon to get it back again!
    But usually, Tesla put back missing features fairly quickly - so I doubt it'll be long until they're back in the car again.
    I'm happy with my Model 3 FSD (beta) - but do plan to upgrade to a performance model sometime in the near-ish future. My #1 concern is whether I'll get enough money from selling an FSD car to buy another FSD car at their current prices. I've been holding off until FSD (beta) goes "gold" and (probably) my car will be worth the extra I paid for it. We'll see.

Two things... while the performance version would be a significant upgrade, I don't see a situation where i'd need any more performance out of this SR. Acceleration is plenty fast for my typical daily driving. I upgraded to the sport wheels and white interior. Immediately ordered ceramic spray for the seats and for sure you'll need something if you purchase the white seats. They show EVERYTHING. All in all, I absolutely love this vehicle. I'm not sure i'll ever buy anything other than a Tesla moving forward.

    Phantom breaking is scary due to either ultrasonic sensors or radar/lidar. I had rented a Tesla Model 3 Performance with FSD. I was at an intersection going 45mph to an instant stop and to not get rear ended instantly I had to hit the accelerator fast so instant head forward motion to instant head backward motion can cause sever damage in your neck for the rest of your life. Regardless, I still want to own a Tesla. Just can't afford one yet. It seems the new 2023 Model 3 and Y are limited compared to earlier models, I hope the over the air updates are swift and everyone gets what was taken away back soon but I doubt it. Cutting costs is usually what does a company in. I want a Tesla because of all the features and performance, not a Tesla with limited features. Removin a sensor is not equal to removing a feature hence the feature (autopilot, self-driving, self-parking ect.) is still working or just temporary limited or partially unavailable.
    A feature is a value given to you on the fundamental level e.g. car parks itself. Individual parts of the system making this work (eg. certain sensor) are just continuing to make the system work. Parts that over the time can be made redundant.
    Removing a part of the features system is not canceling a feature.
    Thats like saying Apple removing the headphone jack equals to the removal of the listening to audio feature.

    • @I_love_our_planet
      @I_love_our_planet Рік тому

      Removing the USS Sensors results currently in limited functions. And this is a fraud when you ordered a car with these features.
      Anyway, it is dumb (unbelievable dumb) to rely only on one information source. USS Sensors ylould tell the camera that his interpretation of the world is incorrect.
      Tesla needs anyway to upgrade its Car Lineup. Today I would not purchase a Model 3 Performance again. M i4 M50 is a much better car, as well as the Kia EV6 or the new Polestar. They provide "more" Car that is enjoyable. And the ride quality on a Model 3 is for a car at this pricetag unbelievably uncomfortable. The suspension simply is rubbish and, on the Model Y completely catastrophic.
      Yes there are arguments for a tesla, but everyday Tesla do not upgrade the Model 3/Y the arguments will be going down.

Over the Air update, being innovative, expatsion of the whole intraintegrated Tesla Devices eg Tesla Wallconnector, Tesla Powerwal and Solar roof. There are very interesting possibilities that can be enabled with future software updates. Alot has to do with selling power to the grid of let others use you wall connnector and tesla is handeling the billing ect. Othe Automakers aren't remoteley there. The main factor of why I was thinking electric is I can charge free at my job as they put employee charging in so I initially I wouldn't have to pay to charge at all unless I take off work. At which my electric company just started offering $38 a month weeknights and weekend unlimited charging. They put out the cost to have a lvl 2 charger installed but it's a 10 year contract. It will definitely be an option when I do get into a Tesla.

    • @QuanMa
      @QuanMa Рік тому +2

      Something to consider is that insurance was much expensive (for me at least). If you don't have a home with a garage to charge it gets pretty inconvenient having to find charging. Superchargers can be just as expensive as gas depending on the which supercharger you use and if you're charging peak hours. I'd say if you have a home (long term) with a garage to install EV charger, it's definitely worth it. You'd be getting less range than advertised and find yourself charging a lot more often then getting gas. If you don't really have access to charging and find that you'd need to use a super charger, I wouldn't make the switch. Overall the car is amazing, but I wanted to make sure you're aware of the downsides and not be overhyped as I was. Also, no Apple Car Play

    • @thaimperfection2
      @thaimperfection2 Рік тому

      @@QuanMa the main reason I was considering the switch to ev is becuase my long term job of 11 years has free charging for employees and there are always spots open so charging wise I'm not too worried about. I turned off the ultrasonic sensors in my non-Tesla vehicle due to how many false detections I would get if there was the slightest amount of dust on the sensor. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the phantom braking that is still present during FSD Beta, even after the removal of radar, is due to a false detection by the ultrasonic sensors. Tesla likely prioritized input from those sensors over what the vision model was seeing due to the inherent delay of detection with older Beta versions. With the more recent FSD Betas improving the responsiveness of path prediction and object avoidance, not using unreliable inputs from ultrasonic sensors was inevitable. I won't miss them one bit.

    • @j.r.f8381

      The phantom braking is not due to the USS. It is Tesla Vision. My Tesla slams on the brakes when it “sees” a shadow of an oncoming vehicle if the sun is to the left. Similarly, it will see a shadow if the sun is coming from the right. Also, if it sees any person or bicycle at all, it is freak out and slam the brakes. The USS are not doing this.

    • @the_kingd0m
      @the_kingd0m Рік тому +4

      Agreed this is not the USS causing phantom braking issues that's actually the far from perfect "vision system". Removing radar and USS data points from FSD input IMO is not a good idea. The USS are for close range parking with extremely accurate and near instant detection of small distances. Radar was a redundant data point that can assist when cameras are blocked (sunlight glare, snow etc). This sensor removal strategy is a mistake and I don't know how Elon and the team at Tesla hasn't realized this yet...

    12 volt lead acid battery usually lasts 2 year’s especially in Arizona. That is why only one year warranty. The old 12 volt system been around a long time so EV manufacturers keep with the tried and true system and spent the money on the powertrain of the car. The 12 volt lithium battery can last 3-5 times longer. You can buy these for gas cars and motorcycles also. 12 volt system is still stressed more today vs the past cuz of more electronics. Some manufacturers moving to48 volt systems. Some gas manufacturers have one battery to start car and another for the electronics.

My M3 still shows the curve around the corners of the car from time to time so I assume they are still active. I might not have received the update with the kill order yet.

    $47000 for a standard range model 3 is just too much. When my lease is up on my LR AWD, I am going to buy a Bolt for under $30K.
    I think Bolt is the best bang for the buck EV out there.

    • @gregarious1
      @gregarious1 Рік тому

      Yeah. That makes sense. I felt the same way months ago. However, the amount of tesla supercharging stations is growing, and both the Bolt DC fast charging and the Bolt range both pale in comparison to the base Model 3. That said, $30K should be the benchmark for future RWD Model 3s.

      Well…Let’s see: Today you’re affording to pay for fuel at $4 to $6 a gallon. (Electricity is Pennie’s not $’s.) Also oil, radiator, brake fluid (yes you should), steering system fluid, and more changes on a regular basis. None of that needed with a Tesla. No ”tune ups”. Alignments and rotation of tires are needed only rarely. Add it up. You’re already paying for a Tesla but driving whatever is in your driveway now. You might even like a used Tesla just as well, just remember, Tesla’s hold their value really well. You current car’s value is dropping like a rock.

    "Vision" is a giant downgrade to radar. Phantombraking, intermittent reduced speed from 50 MPh during light/medium rain "due to degraded visibility", had the car "jerk" towards an oncomming truck when it was 10 meters in front of me in light rain. Simply unbelievable bad compared to when car was radar-based and could have lights in manual as it has never worked & after +5 years since TM3 intro, i bet it never ever will. Unbelievable a manufacturer is allowed to degrade my property in such a way. & yes, its also when the car is only on old fashion adaptive cruise-control it ghostbrakes....A constant fight against automations in rain & at night 😞

      Depends on how long are willing to wait bc I'm sure there are plenty waiting to order come Jan 1st to get the credits. By that time, wait time might get crazier and Tesla might have to raise the price again to trim out waiting times. So, you might end up waiting longer and paying more.

      No the standard model 3 doesn't qualify for 2023 rebate because the LFP battery is from China even thow I think it may qualify for half because it is built in US. I would wait until December thats when we will know for sure, you could get $3750 back, Good Luck!

      If you ordered the Model 3 after Feb 2022, too late. The Model 3 RWD price increase makes it ineligible for federal tax incentives in 2023. The Model Y under $80K qualifies.

      @atpatter1980 Рік тому

      @@finned958 The 2023 Federal Tax incentive is for cars that are $55k or less, not $45k. However, we don’t know if the base model 3 will qualify because of where the battery is produced. If they lower the price of the long range to 55k or less then that should qualify since it’s a different battery.
