At this point in my life, after seeing so many great musicians passing from old age, I can no longer sit and cry about it but try to celebrate their life by remembering the great music they shared instead and play some of those recordings from time to time. I will reserve my tears for family and close friends instead, otherwise I will be worn out myself from all the people passing away.
A sad day - always loved DL for his stellar musicianship and quirky sensibility. Seemed to always have a big smile well within reach. Saw him lots of times - never thought I'd live long enough to see so many of my heroes pass on...
Just two days ago, I listened to David and Wally Ingram's concert, I think filmed in Basel Switzerland. It is one of my all-time favorites. David was a unique musician with a sound that can't be replicated. And by all accounts he was a lovely and unpretentious man. RIP David. You will be missed.
I was lucky enough to catch some Elrayo x shows whenever they played NYC...always a party and a lesson in musicianship at the same time. Condolences and gratitude for his artistry.
I caught that same tour in Edmonton Canada . Flash forward about 2010 I got to meet he and Harry Manx after their show at the winspear centre ... A very humble chill gentleman ... Mercury blues still rules
What a beautiful tribute to, hands down, one of the most talented session musicians and fiddle players ever. America and the world have lost a legend. I'm happy I had the chance to sss David play alongside Jackson about ten years ago. Lots of love and prayers for healing for David's family and many, many friends. Soar high, David...thank you for your amazing body of work 💗
Saw him open for John Hiatt at the Pageant in St Louis in 2010. He was amazing. He joined Hiatt for Buy Me A Mercury to close the show. Like they say, he could play anything with strings.
An immensly gifted musician, his playing made a good song better,if it had strings he could play it..although he collaberated with many artists, his contributions on Jacksons'first few albums are his most memorable. R.I.P. David
some of my fondest memories of the 1980's was seeing El Rayo X at places like the Catalyst, New Georges and various places in SF. Thank you Mr Dave, The Prince of Polyester. There was no one else like you.
In 1980 or so, I saw him for the first time, live at Harpo’s, a small venue, in Victoria BC. I had never heard of him before then. He blew me away!! I played his songs over and over, even bringing them back into playlists again 30 and 40 years later. Probably my favourite is Talk to the Lawyer”
Anything he played and contributed too was always better with his soloing skills. His back beat rythmn sections were insanely horny. Women would instantly boogie to his killer shredding. The only band I saw boogie as hard with the women is the English Beat. This guy went largely under the radar except on other people's hits RIP Davidly Lindley from a Southern California fan for 50 years. Thanks for the exquisite things you did with strings and words.
Baby: he & Wally Ingram on Twango Bango I & II -- just the 2 of them-- is his finest work. Not Jackson Browne: stop already. What an irreverent superstar who wrote relentlessly on the matter of “PAY BO DIDLEY” & expected to be paid. He’s way past Browne. Yr missing the forest for the trees. Seeing Wally in a trance while playing w Lindley had to be seen to be experienced. No video captures this.
😥I didn't know until today. I'm glad I got to see him & his band back in the 1980's I wish his eternal soul joy since he made it to "The Other Side" & that's the perfect tune I would dedicate to his memory. It's the most spiritual of his original compositions & my absolute favorite. I don't know if he once had a Near Death Experience that would inspire him to write that tune, The Other Side is a brilliant and insightful tune. (from the "Mr. Dave" album; my #2 favorite is also on this album - "Truly Do")
My condolences to his family...love all the work or should I say play that David gave us...I still remember David with Jackson and Bonnie in Toronto's famous Massey Hall in 74 doing a 10 minute jam of Take It Easy in the encore with David on violin...they just let him loose...so good!😊
🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶 A sad sad day for many especially the Claremont circle of friends and musicians who were David's friends. David was a humble legend and funny man who will be greatly miss. My prayers go out for David's family.
Long time Kaleidoscope fan here. Listen to A Beacon From Mars (both the song and the *album* 1968) to appreciate how far back his muti-instrument-multi styled talent has influenced popular music.
Sad to hear - you Will be missed , have been listening to David Lindley since he appeares on Lorelei rock concert in 1982 i think - he must be the best handler of music instruments like guitar , violin and his favorite the steel - guitar which he was god damm good on , - have not heard anything bout his illness but thats not signifikant as music news almost never come forward in Denmark - my land has been a desert for music for a number off years , people dont buy music anymore and that i think is so sad both or the artists and those who hear music
Aw so sad 😭😢😮😢🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🍓❣️🍓😔😔 Sad ...im sad 😭 y so quiet?! 🎉rest in peace mate...thank you 🎉for being with me forevet ❤🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😢😢😢 Forever cherished 😢🎉 much love to his friends and family 🎉❤🎉❤
Although this tribute is mostly well written, the narration is beyond terrible. Is it a robot? What does it mean at the end that only his wife and daughter will remember him? Huh? Not only does he have loving siblings, but he will be remembered by millions of people who were affected by his music! Maybe a robot wrote this as well. 😢 0:06

Rest in peace Mr Lindley. You did well Sir.

Rest in peace great musician , what a lose to us all, I have enjoyed hos music tremendously and so as many many people around the world 😢

He made other performers shine with his incredible talents. "She took off my Romeros" was my favorite DL song.
El Rayo Ex is the best album ever.
I became aware of David lindley from my interest in Jackson Browne's music. So sorry to hear of his passing.

was Sonny Landreth playing with Hiatt's band? bet that was a great night of music.

RIP David.
Zijn fabeltastische spel is voor altijd in mijn systeem geborgen .
Well that is a monumental loss to music. Amazing musician, amazing person.
I will never forget Loreley Concert .
RIP humble soul.
One of a kind. :-(
His opening farewell....? Rest in Peace, sir.
It’s so sad 😪
He did lots of solo stuff in LA at McCabe & Coach House through the decades.
I loved seeing him in concert with CSN over the years. He was extremely talented.
Fine tribute. Better without a robot narrating it tho. Where do these souless announcers come from and why are they hired? Do better please.
Anything he played and contributed too was always better with his soloing skills. His back beat rythmn sections were insanely horny. Women would instantly boogie to his killer shredding. My MAGICAL MUSICAL MUNCHKIN has gone ahead! Damn it!

Tiki Torches at Twilight.
Saw him live in 06. Pretty cool. Notodden Norway. Browne joined him for two songs.
Rock just lost a grand wizard...
Another terrible 🖥 narrative. David Lindley deserves better.
