"All planets are alive"
That single line sold me, I feel like this deserves more episodes, even if it was just for that single line.
mattricks21 "I don't care about trees!"

@@tonetheonly9644 Not even in the same realm, somehow.
Bearhug, I don’t know
You sound like an English teacher overreacting about the most basic of statements
I liked this one, not for the gore but for being bizarrely philosophical. If this can dig much deeper it would definitely be worth continuing.
The raddest thing I've seen all week. Who do I have to kill to get a full series?
Patrick (H) Willems Hopefully no one but we love your enthusiasm!
I'll get in on that
***** who cares?
This caught me off guard. Usually all violence in these videos is more laid back. This is anything but that with added gore. Did someone outside the usual artists help with this, or are they trying a different style? And my god I want more o.O
I shall sacrfice you for da series
this need to be a series and not just a 1 time thing
Ian Logan We agree!
CartoonHangover i mean all of your cartoons are good, and i would like to see a series for all of them, but i love the message this one is giving.....and it has a space/scifi setting and im a sucker for that xP
I need so much more of this in my life.
CartoonHangover omg yes :D
CartoonHangover Please yes! This is such a wildly creative short - I'd be so excited to see where it goes.
Am I the only one who fucking loved this?
I think not
fucking loved this? yeah probably.
Yeah
Nope, I love it!
Me too
That last guy in the fight wasn't ready: "bearhug, idk!" XD
Hahaha! That's our favorite part.
I lost my actual shit on that part.
Dude, I watch this short like twice a year o some more, because I really love it, but I never noticed that xd it gave me a new reason to love this
Cartoon Hangover has so much imagination that the possibilities of cartoons are endless.
thanks! ^_^
We live in the time line where it doesn't happen...
I'm guessing we're never getting a series? This is one of the best shorts on the channel, and on YT in general.
It’s been 5 years, and still...
Every time I re-watch this the ending hits hard, don’t know why but I want to cry but don’t at the same time?!?!
Please, make at least one more short!
Came back. 3 YEARS LATER!
This is super dope. One of my favourite animations yet I understand NONE of it! Haha
Keep killin it!
I like that the hero isn't 100% good, and that her morals are a little skewed. And I love what they're saying with the over-the-top violence, and not just making it gorey for the sake of being gorey. We need way more of this, ASAP.
I really liked the style of this; it looked like a prog rock album cover come to life in a way that Adventure Time only occasionally hints at. The violence was kind of jarring though, and more than a little unsettling. I still dug it though, and I hope there's more to come.
Jesse Moynihan is a storyboard artist on Adventure Time. And his brother justin has composed a few songs for Adventure Time. :)
Well aware! I love that AT has become such a talent incubator for creators.
I actually really liked how unsettling and out of place the violence felt. I felt like it contrasted well with Manly's apathy to it to describe a character who does not have empathy. In Adventure Time, we see Finn bullying or killing dungeon monsters who express a desire to just be left alone, but it doesn't feel so wrong because Finn is painted as a sympathetic and good character and the dungeon monsters are just so much background to show off Finn. With the brutality of the scene in this cartoon, Manly's aggression is punctuated by the gore, which helps us see clearly her total lack of empathy.
Narpas
I think the unsettling violence, the fact that the "enemies" visibly experience pain, and the ending ("she's caused you such torture and horrible pain, but there must be a reason why") are all part of Manly's conflict between following the violent path set up by her father and the more peaceful path (poetry, drawing) argued for by her sidekick. It isn't that Manly totally lacks empathy, but that her attempts to seek the approval and identify with her father, who openly shows contempt for her, drive her to violent ends.
It's a bit like what's been going on recently in Adventure Time. Even though Finn's dad is clearly an asshole, Finn's deep desire to want to communicate with his father drives him to the extreme point of losing a limb. Both Finn and Manly struggle in dealing with the rejection that they've experienced by less than ideal fathers. Everyone wants to identify with their parents in some way or another, but not all parents are pleasant, great people.
DrSpikeSpiegel
I am a brony and even I think you are overanalyzing at this point.
This is actually quite deep, and they delivered a message wrapped in unique art, and randomness with a bit of gore and managed to mix a sort of heavy - light feel to the animation as a whole. really good job there.
Also does a good job mixing the unquestioning and obedient attitude with one that asks "why?" and looks for the higher road.
If you haven't watched Manly yet... Well what are you waiting for go do it already! It's awesome / gore-some frdr.us/1ofq8Uk

Thank you for Manly, it's now my favorite short animation.
This needs to become a full series!
I love Jesse's Moynihan philosophical work in AT and this short is no exception.
been 6 years and I cant stop thinking about this short. underrated, should have gotten a series.
Jesse Moynihan’s comic, “Forming”, may be of interest to you!
man, oh man.. This was awesome on many levels of good insanity. I already fell in love with NImbus. Can't wait for the next episode!
Had to come back to this 10 years later, really cool.
Dude same I love this
6 years later and I still want a full series 🥺
same tbh. i guess you'll haveto look up free animating software and do it yourself :P
Years later, and still mysteries that need to be answered
This is THE best Cartoon Hangover cartoon I have ever seen. Maybe better than Bravest Warriors even. Its...I don't even know how to describe it. "You know...GREAT" 3:00 . That line with that imagery and those sounds...that says it all. This show deserves more episodes. Its weird but don't punch it.
The style was really captivating and original, which is why some of your subscribers are upset. They want cutesy awkward stuff they can relate to. Not artistic masterpieces. The internet is stupid and self absorbed.
James Stokoe did the backgrounds which is why they are masterpieces!!
so true
I really love the art and storyline, and I hope they make an episode quickly to make it deep because of her backstory sounds really good. And I find this totally relatable, and I hope subscribers realize it soon too!
What happened to the days of Heavy Metal Magazine?
I didn't like it because this form of media been saturated with the same style lately. There are lots of differences between this cartoon and the ones I'm comparing it to, but its hardly new. And just kind of boring. Looks alright though.
six years ago why is this the most memorable one for me
Wow...this was...I'm not quite sure how to describe this. I know a lot of people on here are saying that they hate the art style, but I for one LOVE the art style, I just think it is so unique and eye-catching, but this is just my opinion. I can tell this was made by writers from Adventure Time because there are definitely A LOT of elements from AT brought into this short, especially the music, since I thought that song at the very end was BEAUTIFUL! It almost brought me to tears and it reminds me of a lot of songs from AT (and not just the ones written by Rebecca Sugar) and from listening to it I could tell Justin Moynihan puts a lot of effort into the songs he writes for both AT and Manly. The only thing that kinda put me off was the blood and violence, it was just too gory for my taste, I don't really like gore that much, Id rather see pretty and cute things, but that's just me. But I thought this was very creative and fascinating, but also a little trippy! lol If we do get more episodes of this I will be very excited, it will be interesting to see more of Manly and her family's backstory, since that is the one thing I love most about cartoons: a deep and intriguing story to tell
It felt more like a poem than a song, but maybe that's just me. It'd link in to the fact that he had Manly writing poetry in the beginning.
yellowtheyellow That's an interesting thought, that maybe the poem that Nimbus was writing at the beginning ended up being put into music at the end, probably implying to us that Nimbus has deeper qualities than he seems to have at first, and that he's actually more insightful than we think. I could definitely see it that way. But Im sure Justin M. also included this song to show us how much he still loves writing songs for cartoons and how much effort he puts into them, because like I said, he also did this in AT, and I bet he wanted to show his fans that he's still got it as a cartoon songwriter even if he isn't in AT anymore, and that's why I really love him!
Hafizur Rahman Please no advertisements, dude, I don't give a crap about instagram followers
You know, Im actually really glad that CH hyped this cartoon short up a lot. This was definitely worth all the hype :)
This show is going straight into my "shows that resemble super-jail" file.
I don’t think I appreciated this enough when it first came out
The awkward feel to this is great.
"How many dimensions is this?"
"Three."
"Oh, that's why."
Manly’s character is so interesting, I want to know more. Will she rebel against her father? And even if she does, will some part of her always long for his approval?
Checking in from 2020 to beg for this to be made into a full series
for real
My favorite lines lol
“Woah your poems!”
“And don’t disappoint me like when you were born and turned out to be a girl.”
“Yuck”
This brings back memories.
CartoonHangover please never stop being this awesome.
We won't! hehe ^_^
CartoonHangover come on. you can't promise that
Man ive been watching this one episode for years hoping it would turn into a series smh
I didn't think it was possible for Moynihan's amazing art and dialogue to translate into a cartoon.
I was just saying how similar to Forming this is! Is he involved in this?
Flavia Chavarria Both Jesse Moynihan and his brother.
9 years later and this is still good
I love Skinnyripped, he’s just got this space-messiah chad energy that I really dig.
Manly: “There was some kinda mirror with a hat... in my mind.”
Skinnyripped: “whatsthatnow”
Bear hug, I don't know.
Kobe!
I am a bear, hello!
I read this when it said it
Fascinating. Beautiful, strange, and intriguing. Leaves me wanting more. :)
I'll literally mail you guys my left arm to get a series of this
I think they'd prefer money... XD
* silently cries in a corner* That......That was so....... MAJESTIC
"BEAR-HUG, I DONT KNOW!"
Best. Damn. Quote.
This needs to be a mini series with a deep story and plot. Each episode will be about some kind of abstract feeling of individuality and consciousness. This has immense potential to be hard to swallow but truthful.
It's great to see a full animated project coming straight from Jesse Moynihan's brain.
Great news More Manley on it's way.
+Robert M. Moynihan Are you Jesse's dad??
+Noah S check jesse moynihan's instagram
+Noah S They are in the process of storyboarding.
+Robert M. Moynihan thank you
+Robert M. Moynihan Oh plops, Bobby! I've loved your stuff on SNL ever since I was a little kiddie! Way better than that blowhard Piece of Toast. Your skits with Garmanarnar were always so hilarious.
Bee and Puppycat and Dead End are both TV shows now this is next on my wishlist.
Manly is being pushed to do things that she doesn't want to do, just to make her father proud. She's forced to kill and be violent, while Nimbus is peaceful and wants her to be the same. I love it.
Love it. Thank you +CartoonHangover
You're most welcome
Still sometimes show it to friends and everyone always likes it
I didn't know I was gonna enjoy it as much as I did. I was put off by the art style at first but once the the characters started talking and got a feel for it all I got used to it quick. It shows promise and deserves to be a series.
If any one of these shorts gets a chance to be a series, PLEASE make it be Manly!
I thought I would feel like I would want to cry during the end, but it was some kind of warbly mind crying that made my eyes feel warbly.. whaaa?
What happened to manly??? by far the best episode and “could be” show on cartoon hangover
I still can't get over the fact that it isn't a fully realized show. I'm so in love with this and the idea of it not getting expanded upon really stings.
I've watched it to a point where I remember it word-for-word :|
@@wilson9263 I literally searched for the show till my head broke only to figure out it's not a series
god id kill to see some more stuff from Jesse Moynihan his work on this pilot and Adventure Time is incredible
Hello! Jesse has a website, and on it is a 300+ page comic called “Forming” which is similar but expanded in content!
@@daregularperson haha yea its pretty rad ive read some of it but i guess the comic format isnt as much for me readin hurts me brain
WOW just simply... wow, this felt kinda daydreamish, kinda like a mushroom trip but without the danger or illegal substance, I want MORE O.O
Ok. We need this to be a series. It's set in a very interesting verse, the designs are neat and Manly is pretty awesome.
The world needs more Manly.
i like this a lot!!! plz make more!! the dude on manlys' shoulder is hilarious.
his name is nimbus. i like nimbus. he is a cool dude.
He's kinda annoying in a way..... But still a great cartoon!
Liv Elise Ringstad how is he annoying?
It's not that i dont like him its Just ahhhh!!!!!
Liv Elise Ringstad thanks for the great explination
You guys should change your name to FOX with the number of pilots you make without turning any of them into a series.
Haha
Not until they've canceled Bravest Warriors and Bee & PuppyCat.
Yosuke Kirie Bravest warriors and Bee & PuppyCat are the equivalent of Simpsons and Family Guy. My statement stands.
How much have you invested in these projects? A cartoon, hell a comic even costs alot of money. A Book like Saga by image just for the writer and artist alone costs over 120k a year. That is before editors, publishers, pr, colorists... Now how much do you think animation costs? Especially 2d traditional animation! People want alot from creators of content. You want endless bucket of cartoons.
Daniel St. George With over 1,3 mil subscribers I think they could manage at least 3 series. (they do sell merch)
please let this become a show, I NEED THIS SHOW. THE PLANET NEEDS IT!
this would make for a good adult swim show
Cant wait for it to be turned into a series.. love the metaphysical philosophical storyline. and the teleport animation is rad .. very cool style.. Character design is great particularly Manly.. love the angular pink and yellow "helmet"..
I can see the potential in this series. It's one of those shows who has a nice soft exterior, but when you see through it, you can view a very deep personal conflict.
Please continue this short. I want to fund Manly! I really like this one. the style is amazing and the tone and atmospher of the narrative and its characters dispostions are so captivating.
I loved everything about this! Ones of the best animations I've seen in a while. I hope I get to see more :)
I'm watching it right now, still as good as the day it got posted. Make it into a series!
its been 6 years, lets get a series going please!!!!!
Hey does anyone realizes that nimbus can only be seen by manly. Her father had her on that screen thingy and nimbus wasn't seen in her shoulder, or heard when he say " can he say that ". Just want to know what everyone else thinks about it.
Conner Felix Woah. Our minds are blown. That's a cool theory!
That's actually really perceptive, I only noticed (but promptly ignored) this on my third viewing :-)
CartoonHangover Oh c'mon, you already know what's up, as god of this channel, but it's pretty cool that you act humbly.
Manly said something directly after, leading me to believe he just chose to respond to her because she already addressed what Nimbus said in the conversation. So I personally don't think that was the intent :P
I think Nimbus represents Manly's conscience, or another side of her personality. His large mouth represents his job as a speaker, and his small size shows how he is unnoticed by others, except for Manly.
The story line is definitely intriguing ! Would love to see more! Great job!
I really can't stop watching this video.
*but there must be a reason...whyyyyyy*
The voice acting is wonderful! It seriously adds to the comedy. I laughed so hard I almost cried
I really loved this, I wish I lived in a dimension where this would be given a full budget.
Probably my favorite Cartoon Hangover Shorts.
man i don't know what i just watched but i know it was good
Please make this a series! I don't know how this didn't catch on, but it's not too late. (It never is when you have interesting ideas paired with great animation.) I really enjoyed it and it left quite an impression, something I don't often experience. Please don't drop quality work based solely on "popular" opinion. A nice opportunity was overlooked just because it sailed right over most people's heads. It's a shame...
Truly a gem lost to time:(
I have to say that this is probably the best short on Cartoon Hangover. I've watched it at least seven times, and every time it makes me think of something different. I love this!
If I understand correctly, all of your cartoon shorts can be made into series?
Pretty much
I WANT THIS NOW!!! AT LEAST 4 SEASONS WITH 25MIN EPISODES!!!!
I thought the gore wasn't out of place, it fit the show/universe rather nicely in my opinion. And its not like it was realistic or anything so I don't really understand the complaints.
Jesse and Justin Moynihan are my new favorite creators. I can't wait for more episodes of Manly!!!
This needs to be a series right now!
I WANT THIS TO BE A SERIES!
"that parts weird!" "I'LL PUNCH IT!"
Yes when you see something weird you punch it
+C.A. Gaming so that hairy guy with an eyepatch who rides my bus needs to be punched?
this deserves so much more views and attention than it has gotten!!
MORE MANLY! This show rules. I never know what to expect.
This was just so freaking cool. It's random, but a driven random. I'd definitely watch this if it was a show.
WHY IS THIS NOT IN TV!
I, for one, would really like to see this turned into a full length series.
Oh My God.
I LOVE THIS. theres this unique macabre appeal to all of it. It reminds me of the Webcomic, Forming!
The song at the end was beautiful, i cant stop listening to it!
Jesse Moynihan is awesome. And he never skipped his geometry homework.
I really want to see more of this.
I think there will be 3 more seasons now.
Any updates on the status of Manly? I love this short and still come back to watch now and then, I'd love to see more. The art direction behind it is insanely good.
Hey this is Jesse Moynihan. I don't think anything will end up happening with Manly, unless a miracle happens. But miracles do happen sometimes, so you never know! I'm currently pitching a new cartoon idea to interested parties.
Oh man that's a shame. There's a world established here that I got really invested in and in only six minutes, so kudos to you and Justin for making something that could do that! I'll be keeping an eye out for your future projects and I'll be waiting for that miracle!
Jesse Moynihan Marley Diazdelvalle seems like the viewcount on this is picking up, if CartoonHangover is invested in this at all think yall shld probably do another round of sharing this to see if heads turn a little more on another circulation, not sure if thatll have any influence on whether or not this project goes back into potential greenlighting territory but im definitely hopeful something this intersectional/cosmically keyed-in can get mainstream viewership, good luck & posivibes~ to u jesse & team
*****
Marley Diazdelvalle Thanks guys. Yeah we have a bunch of ideas for future episodes, but I am waiting for the stars to align and tell us to move forward with this project. If it is meant to be, it will happen someday.
Jesse Moynihan Man I am so sad now. I need more manly - I like it better than Adventure Time, Bravest Warriors and Bee and Puppycat. Seriously it's the best thing you guys have ever done.
Edit: In fact, you can expect at least like 50 dollars from me if you guys do a kickstarter.
Fantastic short, I'm so glad this got green lit.Congrats guys!
Andrew Brown they haven't said yet but they have a pretty big budget apparently and it's gonna have 26 eleven minute episodes. It's gonna be produced by Wow!, they're a Canadian/Americab studio I believe
where did u hear that? any source?
What for real? This got greenlit? I've been wanting to see more for like two years. Where can I find it?
YOU MUST MAKE MORE OF THIS!
I'm definitely going to remember who did this and I will constantly checking their work to have myself good memories.
Too bad theres jot gonna be more I really wanna know where those glasses came from(what a bummer)great cartoon,I liked it a lot.PEACE!!!
If there is a big enough response then it might get made into a series! We want to see more too! :)
CartoonHangover
It was awesome! MOAR plea! (is it big enough? xd)
"because your spirit is soft like a doo doo cloud."
It's all her dad's fault. She must find something to live for, from within!
Is your spirit soft like a doo doo cloud?
Yay!
I am unsure of what to feel right now.
I cant belive its already been 3 years. Time flys man....
I wish there were more episodes because I love Manly and Nimbus and I'd like to see more of them
