I watched this movie over 20 times, i can compare it to Tarantino movies where the story escalates on the end and leaves you in shock. Very good movie !!! Pozdrav Milcho.
This (great) film would remain in Milcho Manchevski's (the director) personal & intimate memory, and in the minds of the all true film aficionados who'd seen it, as one of the most underrated pictures from the beginning of that decade. Definitely one of those really good films (overall looking at it: majestic cinematography, such a romantically intriguing story, full with fantasy and personal mind trips, great casting and even better acting, so touching soundtrack...) that got crippled by a group of 'film critics/journalists', who've decided to stand together with their shallow-minded colleague, who 'discovered' that it's politically incorrect picture, and therefore, it doesn't deserve to be shown to the people! The director (supposedly) unjustifiably degraded and ridiculed the modern-day Turkey, by the way he portrayed it through the Ottoman Empire, and its activity in the Balkans, in the late 19th century! Which isn't just pathetic, but totally insane (on his part - the 'journalist' - of course) I mean, this is only a very (extremely) small portion of the reasons why some groups of people doomed this great film, and as a result of it, it wasn't shown and distributed in the cinema theaters all over the world as it should've been, and its life was cut short! However, everyone who understand what a good film is, know it and have seen it, or if they hadn't, then I'm sure they will, and will be pleasantly surprised just how good it is! Probably (most likely) the last truly good thing Manchevski has made! Hope he'll make something great again, any time soon now. 'Cause the last things couple of things he'd done, were quite poor, in my (honest & humble) opinion.
Memories first feel the pain and evil of the Balkans when I was just a little kid booed and kicked in the school and on the street like it movie says no matter who you are whatever you are or where you are you have to live your life 'cause you're dying you're own death.........R.E.S.P.E.C.T and hats down for the greatest Macedonian movie maker and history revealer Milcho Manchevski you're the best above everyone else in the Balkanian sensless contest............
I love the movie "Dust" from the bottom of my heart.
