This movie lead to a 27 year obsession with the assassination I went to watch it with my late Father when it came out. I’ve traveled to Dallas, got a life size cardboard cutout of JFK In my dining room and a tattoo of him on my arm. The past is prologue
The Russians said "this guy...you can talk to him." You know who doesnt benefit from peace leading upto the cold war.. the military industrial complex. RIP both Kennedys.
"The Untouchables" and "Dances With Wolves" were huge successes, and while Costner isn't that great of an actor compared to the big legends, he at least looks the part all the time
I have to say that the Oliver Stone 1991 movie, "JFK," was a wonderful examination on the most tragic event of our time. I also think that conspiracy theories still have a place in modern day America. I commend Mr. Stone for presenting a kind of cinematic rebuttal to the fraudulent Warren Commission and its odious report.
@@jamesanthony5681 I have. It left out a lot of information...even though it was 900-something pages. Raised more questions than it supposedly answered, but the "magic bullet" theory was bogus. So was the magic loogie theory.
@@jamesanthony5681 I have a hard time believing that one bullet could do that much damage. I know that a .30 caliber bullet was designed to bounce around, but the number of shots vis-a-vis the Zapruder film indicates that Oswald--or someone else--couldn't have fired that quickly. It was physically impossible for him to do so. Add in the fact that numerous witnesses--at least 50--said they heard multiple shots and not echoes coming from different directions leads me to believe that there was more than one shooter. Additionally, the gun allegedly used in the shooting was flawed with a bad gunsight...and Oswald was considered a mediocre shot at best. So, was he acting alone and it was a fluke shot, or was someone else involved? Common sense tells me to follow the latter course.
@@jamesanthony5681 There are/were conflicting reports about just how good a shot Oswald was. Some said fair, and some said terrible. Let's assume, though, he was a fair shot. From his vantage point, there was a tree in the way of the motorcade that obscured the view. Add in the faulty gunsight plus the limited view, you either get very lucky OR you're a sniper supreme. That never made sense to me. Additionally, if you're in a hurry to get three shots off, your hands are going to shake a little. They did tests with expert marksmen under the same circumstances...all of them failed. It was an old bolt-action rifle...to get off three shots with perfect precision is hard, to say the least. Now, as to the other shots....from what I remember, they came from the knoll as well as the overpass. They may have been diversionary shots; IDK...but the angle of entry from the bullet has always confused me. While Kennedy's head wound was on the right side behind his ear (more or less) as you said, the throat wound and back wounds appeared to be from a different angle, almost head on, which indicates that there were additional shots. I may be wrong on this, but something about those wounds never added up, including Connolly's injuries. They were all over the place. This whole thing was and is a smokescreen, but for whom? (Geez, now I sound like a conspiracy nut!).
@@jessfrankel5212 -Nothing adds up with either the head shot or SBT. In the official Autopsy Report all 3 Doctors said the head entrance was at the EOP(bump at base of skull) Then this wound somehow vanished in 1966 for The Clark Panel, and 1979 for The HSCA, and migrated upwards some 4 inches higher? Do you smell something rotten in Denmark yet? OK this new wound entrance was never seen by any witness at either Hospital 11-22-63-fact. So, obviously the official story cannot be true....
The greatest and most important movie ever made. Oliver Stone absolutely outdid himself. I've watched this movie over 100 times and it still hits the same every single time. A true masterpiece.
I have to be honest and frank, one of the biggest reason why i search and look for this movie is to learn the indelible techniques of cinematography by the master of lighting, Bob Richardson
A bravura, astonishing piece of filmmaking. Expertly weaving all of the conspiracy threads together in a mind bogglingly good, pin you to your seat, investigative thriller, where top drawer technical pyrotechnics blend seemlessly with a once in a lifetime cast. Kevin Costner anchors the movie and acts as our guide, as Stone delivers his masterpiece which still resonates today. Put simply, this is one of the best films ever made.
No film ever has more meaning than JFK. It shows not only what happened to America up until 11-22-63...if you listen to the Dialogue it portends all the insanity and corruption that followed.
I don't suppose anyone will ever know the truth. People paint Oliver Stone as a lefty--maybe he is, who knows--but this was a marvelous film. It raised way more questions than it answered, and asking questions is a good thing in this current climate. The acting was stellar, with the late John Candy in a dynamite cameo, and Donald Sutherland a standout as Agent X. Worth watching.
There are no lefties in America. There is the sane center and the insane ultra right wing fascists men and the ignorant women they con into voting against their own best interests. That's how the rest of the world sees us.

Some people complain about the historical inaccuracies in the film, which is a valid criticism to a certain extent. But all historical films are at least somewhat inaccurate and take some liberties with the events. Oliver Stone still made a very well-crafted and entertaining film. One of the great movies of the 90’s IMO.
The movie is a complete fabrication. The characters in the movie are either composites or real-life people that had nothing to do with Kennedy. The men were totally decent people. Clay Shaw was a war hero and a hardworking businessman who was not effeminate or slimy or creepy at all. He was dignified and sheepish and kind. He was completely defamed by Garrison and again by this movie. Garrison himself looks and sounds like a character from Seinfeld in real life; absolutely nothing like Kevin Costner's salt of the earth everyman. Every major news outlet had reported in the 60s before the trial even happened that Garrison had been bribing and coercing and blackmailing people to fill out his fake case and his bizarre crackpot theory. None of this is in the movie.
@@jamiehg4272 huh? Watch the old interviews with Garrison and see his wobbly eyes and empty promises "We got lots of evidence. You're gonna find out real soon'. Irish Bunny -> JFK is a 1991 American political thriller film directed by Oliver Stone. The film was adapted by Stone and Zachary Sklar from the books On the Trail of the Assassins by Jim Garrison and Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy by Jim Marrs. Stone described this account as a "counter-myth" to the Warren Commission's "fictional myth."
This is such an iconic film. I watched this with my dad when it first came out on video in the UK. There is a documentary about the shots heard before the zapruder film. I think it’s called The Missing Bullet?
The single bullet theory never had to prove a second shooter, the second shooter "QJ/WIN" (Sarti) shot from the side with his trademark soft point exploding bullet which had nothing to do with JFK's neck, a wrist, a knee, or Connelly. It did however cause half his brain to get blown off on the right side and was the LAST bullet shot. (The first one came from the Records Roof and hit a curb)
Duane, IF the second shooter shot from the SIDE, how was it that the bullet went through the right side - in a straight line - of the president's head? Please explain.
Oliver Stone was so damn good in the 80s 90s. He was the caliber of Scorsese, Coppola, on a roll he was that f'ing good. He completely lost his edge after Any Given Sunday. World Trade Center should have been far edgier and better and different than it turned out. In his heyday I can imagine him doing Zero Dark Thirty or United 93 instead! He made a watered down Snowden a few years ago and I wonder how good it would have been if it had been made in the 90s! Same goes for W!

The airport scene was a bit weird and great, I didn't get it at first then then I realized wtf is happening. I liked it when he said none of your business to the cop LOL
Those i disagree with some of the hyperbolic and quite unfounded content, the movie is brilliant. It’s really presented as a horror movie. If you just listened to the movie without seeing it, it sounds like a horror movie at times. Brilliant move because the assignation of the president is a horrific event.
Amazing how someone so central to historical events was repeatedly placed in the hands of people who are obsessed with my insides. I’m glad that’s getting addressed so I can live in a way most people so central to historical events get to live.
It drives me a little crazy when people refer to "JFK" as Oliver Stone's first presidential biopic. It's not. It would be a presidential biopic if it were about President Kennedy's life. This movie is actually only really about his death.

Oh god Kevin Costner came out in every damn movie in the 1990s

One of the absolute best films of the 90s

This Movie Had Good Cast Of Stars

I really love Oliver Stone and the great films he made.
There is nothing wrong with being a lefty. JFK was a lefty.

The best film about JFK
@@paulstevens6043 ok fed
@@jamiehg4272 huh? Watch the old interviews with Garrison and see his wobbly eyes and empty promises "We got lots of evidence. You're gonna find out real soon'. Garrison and staff badgered and blackmailed people to get the stories they wanted. Go through 'JFK 100' its one of the oldest 'webpage's on the internet and they easily dismantle bit after bit of the movie.
Movie lets Kennedy's murderer off the hook while happily accusing a lot of innocent people using bogus "evidence" and over 80 *demonstrable* lies.
@@paulstevens6043 Garrison was the war hero, a pilot. Shaw was lying about never meeting Ferrie and Oswald, many witnesses testified in the trial that they saw the three of them together. The deepstate mob tried to ruin his case and reputation, even stealing files from his office and interfering with his winesses.

Maybe the most important film ever. When one grows the curiosity, and honesty gene, and realizes the Single Bullet Theory never happened, and the headshot came from the front, then you never look at things the same. That doesn't mean one goes off the deep end and starts believing all these Krazy Konspiracy theories for everything, but it is a deep betrayal that shows how we have ended up, where we are and sometimes Black is White And White Is Black.

In other words, it was a complete fabrication based on two lie-packed books written by two demonstrable con artists.

Watching it now for the 10000th time!
Victims' wounds line up on a perfect trajectory. One bullet.
