My favourite movie. Dear Milcho, when I saw this film for the first time I was at the Venice Film Festival in 1994. The great coincidence was that my grandfather was in competition with Gianni Amelio's film "Lamerica". My grandfather was the lead actor in the film. So I told my grandfather that as good as his film was, he had struck me in a particular way "Before the rain". And the golden lion was yours 😃

This is one of the best films I have ever watched. I saw it in a film festival in Ankara in 1995. I still remember how much it affected me. Bravo to the director and his whole team!

No matter how many times I watch it, my heart gets hot, and every time I watch it, I get enthusiastic, and it catches my heart completely.

Hi! My name is Mislina. I want to ask about timeline of the film. I have watch your film two months ago. This film has a changeful timeline. Your film is away the cronology of the time. The motto that gets passed around is "the circle is never round" which is fitting considering how uneven the stories are. Characters who are killed, suddenly reappear in future scenes, that seem like flashbacks but aren't. Events that play out in a certain scene, wind up occuring a second time in a different location. By the last scene which is similar to the end of the first part, you think everything has come full circle, when really it's a completely different turns of events. So, why have prefer this film technique in your film? I have wonder, Mr Manchevski 😇

"Before the Rain," "Dust," and "Willow" had a great influence on film history. That is a movie that will be handed down to the future.

I did not know of PULP FICTION until after its release and did not see it until after the premiere of BEFORE THE RAIN. I asked Quentin in Stockholm about it and, as expected, he had not heard about BEFORE THE RAIN until after it won in Venice. So, the answer is neither one of us knew about the other director's film until they were completed and released.

Kieslowski's movie Blind Chance is the earliest i can think of, but not sure if that's what you are thinking of - it is three parallel stories that surely inspired Lola Rennt, but not circular as Before The Rain.
