Thank you so much for the super thanks. Very good to know the install process is the same for Sealion 6. Did you notice any difference or the cable and everything are the same?
Super easy video to follow - thank you. Took me 9 minutes in total. TIP - don't fasten the black cover back in place until you have got Dashcam App working - that way you can put it on live view and make sure the camera is fully in the housing - it makes a fairly loud CLICK when it does go in.
Very easy to do for my Sealion 6. I carefully snapped out the black plastic cover without entirely removing it, as I could easily work on it anyway. I removed the plastic from the wire and took off the black tape securing the blue-tipped wire. I attached it to the dashcam and clicked it into place. Don’t close it yet. Attach the SD card underneath the center console. Restart the infotainment system, and the dashcam app will appear. Format the SD card. Once everything is working, snap the cover back into place.
Perfect instructions and video. One tip, I found that if your video has dark shadows on the corners it means you haven't pushed the camera fully into the slot far enough.
Thank you very much for your generosity and sharing this tip. I didn't notice the dark corners and my camera is already protruding beyond the housing. Where is the dark corners you noticed in the video?
@@SkyPerspective Sorry, your video and install was perfect. The issue occurred on my install, I thought it was a camera issue but it's not. If the camera is not inserted far enough the camera picks up the edges of the lens surrounds and shows on the video image as dark rounded corners on the corners of the footage. Hope this makes sense.
I hope this video gives you enough information so installing this dashcam is straightforward for you. If you have any questions, or I missed anything, drop a comment down below.
Thanks for the video. When I installed mine I accidentally bumped the rear vision mirror making it fall off (it is designed to come off easily in the case of an accident). After unplugging the connector for the mirror dimming function the mirror and black cover could be removed completely. This made access to the video/power cable and installation of the camera a lot easier. The mirror is held in place by 3 claws that grip onto a 6 sided nut that has 3 short sides and 3 longer sides. When the mirror is installed the claws grip onto the 3 shorter sides (these sides are further away from the centre of the nut than the 3 longer sides). To reinstall the mirror place it so the claws are around the longer sides (60 degrees from the final position) then turn to bring it into the final position.
@SkyPerspective - you still have the protective cover around the edge of rearview mirror (which is only meant for transport) - when you remove that the frameless mirror looks much nicer.
You are welcome. I drove a sealion 6 last week when I sent in my Seal for service. Sealion is a very nice and spacious car. Does the battery run out very frequently? Do you have to charge every night?
Hi I’m also waiting for seal I booked in December and seal ETA end of feb so that seal 2025 reg or 2024 I’m bit confused 🤔🤔 because I saw some video 2025 seal interior very nice I like it I hope I can get new interior one 🤞🏻
Thank you. Very easy to connect because if your video. Worked well with my SL6. I didn’t get if there is an emergency video recording, for when the car is parked and another car hits it. Does the video record on its own?

Not sure what is Tesla winter preheat, but I can confirm we can switch on the air conditioning in BYD Seal remotely using the BYD app to heat up or cool down the car before we head to our car during both winter and summer. Hope this is what you are asking.
Attention: Newer seals came without the cable and a (difficulty to remove) plug for the camera hole I heard. And sometimes the rear view mirror fells off (easily to mount again when you know how). And 32 GB is very small. My 128 GB only lasts for a month.
Wow, thanks for sharing such useful information. Yes, better to check our Seal before we buy the camera. Now I am curious what the newer seal looks like inside the housing. Hope someone can share a photo or video or something.
@@SkyPerspective Don't know - read somewhere on Reddit that it should become available after installing the camera, but the same user said he hadn't installed it himself so was just wondering. My seal is still 7-8 weeks away
Nope, unfortunately not. Starting the air con to remote start the dashcam might be a convenint side effect BYD was not expecting when designing the dashcam.
Thanks, I used your video to install the dash cam on my seal. The dash cam doesnt record sounds, which could be important sometimes. The image quality is acceptable, and the driving info is nice. How do you upload the footage to your phone? Or do you need to physically remove the SD card?
Just check if you have lane assist. On some roads, when you are approaching lines on the road, the steering wheel will vibrate to let you know you are getting close to the edge of the road. You might have a problem as mentioned by others, but my first assumption would be what I have mentioned above.
Thanks, worked a treat for my Sealion 6

Thanks for this, mate. Looking forward to absolutely flubbing this when we pick up our seal in a few weeks.

I just received my BYD Seal in Germany two days ago. Everything worked nicely and the cable is there! Thank you! Also works with 256GB
Wonderful. So glad to hear another happy story.
So i guess that in all EU, will have it... I have my Seal in Greece...I will check it out.
I wish this Dashcam came with it already
Thanks!

Did you get a "smart guard" app available in the BYD store (in car) after installing the camera?
It's not available on my (in car) BYD Store app. Did they blocked this smart guard app by geographic location?
@@SkyPerspective Don't know - read somewhere on Reddit that it should become available after installing the camera, but the same user said he hadn't installed it himself so was just wondering. My seal is still 7-8 weeks away
@faenstull oh ok. I will find out more if I get the time to.
Do you have live feed to the car camera when using remote start?
Nope, unfortunately not. Starting the air con to remote start the dashcam might be a convenint side effect BYD was not expecting when designing the dashcam.
@SkyPerspective thanks for confirming. It's a shame BYD doesn't introduce a "Sentry mode" system like Tesla.
@xMI55IONx yes I agree.

Does it have parking mode? What sensor does it have and how is night time recording?
What if we accidentally touch the ADAS device?
Should be alright if we didn't tug any wires on the adas side.
Is there a way to start the car remotely and see what the dashcam sees in realtime?
Unfortunately no. I am researching if those third party dash cam allows remote viewing over internet.
Does it comes with rear camera? I see u just insert front camera only.
Unfortunately, no. Only front camera. It does makes me want to consider getting a separate dashcam system all together.
Hi can I keep it recording when I’m not in the car and without having the car running ?
is there a dashcam for the rear of the car?
No not that I know of
Thank you for that! I could install mine as well.
One different topic question: do your steering wheel vibrates when you drive?
Yes, when the road is uneven or when there are road bumps. Doesn't vibrate much if I am on good highways. Why did you ask? Is yours vibrating?
Yes. Has only 600 km now. Quite wierd. For 10 km at 100-120 km/h was ok today, then the steering wheel starts to vibrate.
@rogernelson1171 Hmm doesn't sound right to me. Perhaps get BYD to check it.
@_Sensei_8 hi! Thanks for that! Actually it not vibrating in the 4 last times I speed between 80-100 km/h. Pretty weird...
Just check if you have lane assist. On some roads, when you are approaching lines on the road, the steering wheel will vibrate to let you know you are getting close to the edge of the road.
You might have a problem as mentioned by others, but my first assumption would be what I have mentioned above.
Received my dash cam but sadly after quite a few resets the car didn't recognise the camera
I think it's a dud😢
No parking mode on the dashcam?
What do you mean by parking mode?
@SkyPerspective its keeps recording even when you park the car with the engine off
@jimmy.christian oh, no the dash cam only records when the car is on
@SkyPerspective ah ok thank you
Unfortunately, the cable is not there. Couldnt do it!
Interesting! Could you share which month did you collect your Seal with everyone? Perhaps the later Seal no longer comes with that cable.

I dont even know where to plug it in
Is there no rear view?
Did you lost celular signal after installing the dash cam?
No. Why would we lost signal?
Hi, are you from HDTVTest? Your voice and accent sounded very much the same imo. 😁
Haha.... The voice does sound similar, doesn't it? No different channel, different person.
I Have VDS2100
The resolution of the camera is quite bad
the quality is horrible ! is it possible to have a better quality one ?
No parking mode which is useless.
