just ordered my byd seal awd today. so now until delivery I will watch your videos a lot ;D
Thank you very much for supporting my channel. Hope you like the other tech videos I make too. I try to make videos about stories of all my tech gear including my BYD Seal. So fun having an EV!
Great video, keep em coming! I love the sound quality in my car but I keep on finding new functions and shortcuts every day ;-)
Thanks SP. we’ve ordered a Seal and take delivery late March. In our test drives we were concerned about the perceived low volume of the audio. We didn’t have time to dig deeper into the system…but you have and our concerns about sound volume have been alleviated. Thanks.
Yes I understand how that feels when buying a new car. The audio in the byd seal is really good. One thing I didn't cover in my video is that I enjoyed listening to relaxing quiet music in my Seal as I wind down from work heading home. It's one of a kind experience together with all the ambient lighting and dynaudio. Thanks for your comment sharing your story.
Hi Dazzar - have had my Seal performance for 2 weeks. On the stereo settings go straight to customise and alter the equaliser yourself. Much better (to my ears) and definitely louder! Two weeks in and still learning. So much to customise, so many shortcuts, etc.
Out of interest what was the lead time from order to delivery ie when did you order? Not ordered yet but thinking of doing in near future. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for your videos, they are super helpful. I've put in an order for a BYD Seal and I'm also coming from a Honda Civic :). When I finally get the car I will be a lot more prepared for it thanks to your videos.
It's wonderful to know you are also upgrading from Honda Civic. The Seal is a lot heavier, and it's much more stable compared to Civic. Have you test driven a Seal yet?
@@SkyPerspective I did and I loved it. Will need to take extra care with ramps and speed bumps but it felt great to drive it. Also loved the tech, comfort and the beautiful glass roof
@SkyPerspective the only ride better on seal is softer suspension, so more comfortable on straight road. Cornering is worse than civic..go carwow check the review..if you country road conditions is not good, you will feel the seals keep bouncing due to soft suspension.
From the price, quality, interior, equipped with acceleration-sensitive, the BYD is the best EV car in the world
the best of sound for a car!! i have a sound premium in a s40 volvo! the best i ever listen👌🏼
Another nice video!
Thanks for dropping this comment letting me know. I am glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks SP - very interesting and informative to learn about that button! Thanks for taking the time to put this together! 🩷
You are very welcome. Your feedback makes it all worthwhile. Just need one person to appreciate. Thanks.
Also, volume 20 is not 50% of volume. It does not increase in a linear way. I am in communication with Dynaudio because in my tests volume was limited and this is supposed to be 775w system. But on max it was quite low in my tests.
@@SavageTechAustralia after receiving the car I find it more than enough when adjusting the equalizer in custom mode. However, I am still investigating this.
good video, thank you so much, I have learned some interesting things tonight
I use voice control all the time. It's very convenient.
how many channel is this system ? My VW dyn audio is 10 channel.
Dynaudio is one of the best Danish sound giants trio - Dali, B&O and Dynaudio
Don't forget to set the source audio level to Max lest it sound low volume
@@SkyPerspectiveYes Sir. Their speakers are cutting edge tech and sound stunning. I have a bookshelf wireless set called Xeo 2 which is amazing.
Great video. Thanks. Please do more Seal Dynamic videos. What kind of efficiency are you getting?
Ya I will. So far my Seal tells me I am using 14kWh per 100km. I mostly do city driving. Not sure how accurate that is. I am logging my charging pattern and consumption on a calendar and will be making a video about it in a couple of months time. However its battery percentage I am tracking, not kWh.
Just ordered my Seal this week, thanks forbthe video especially the part about the sound system I can't wait to play around with it! I take it Driver is the best option if you're in the car alone?
Yes, I am someone who can hear the left and right balance difference when the pessenger speaker is slightly further away from me. It's good I can balance front and back left and right with 1 button to focus on driver position.
Thanks for your helpful video. I did a test drive last week. Seal is super cool. I did order Seal Premium and am waiting to get the car. I heard Seal has a SIM slot but I can`t find the video on how is SIM effective in car function? If you have time, please review it and explain the Seal screen function more. Thanks to all of your BYD videos.
The SIM in the car basically allows our BYD mobile app to communicate with the car. It allows us to lock and unlock the car using the mobile app and other remote functions like switch on the air con remotely. The car can also report it's status to the mobile app, such as how much it has charged up when the car is charging at a charging station. My next video will be about this, the BYD Seal mobile app video and I will briefly mention about this. Stay tunned.
@@SkyPerspective Without SIM car is offline? How is this done in Tesla, is it always online or you need to buy some kind of monthly subscription?
Yes without sim car is off-line unless we tether car to phone hotspot. Not sure about Telsa, as I have never researched on Tesla. Maybe someone else with a Tesla can help explain.
Hi!, thank you for such helpful video. I have just ordered my Seal and I have a question for you. What about graphic EQ? During my driving test I was not be able to find out where the EQ is. Thanks in advance
I could be wrong, but I don't think there is any graphical EQ. There are only preset EQ as the ones I have shown. Hope this helps.
@@SkyPerspective Ok, Maybe there is some customizable preset that allows you to adjust the different frequencies. Thanks again for your help from Spain
To be fair, the Audio button nextto the park has the power button printed next to the volume... it is kind of obvious? The reboot is a good info :)
A quick query, Sky: does the BYD Seal not have adaptive brightness for the main and odometer screens? That constantly adjusts according to ambient brightness? Many thanks!
It does, but it takes a few seconds before it kicks in, and the screen is still very bright even at the lowest brightness, so we can use the switch make it darker.
@@SkyPerspective thanks so much for this info Sky! Here's hoping the Seal will make it to South Africa soon.
Thanks! I have a byd tang ev. I was wondering in which format it is better to listen to music through the app. I listen via Apple music (lossless, HI-res) and Yandex music (high quality 320 KB). Do you think there is a difference between lossless and mp3 320 kb? Could you tell me which components are installed in dynaudio byd? Esotan driver?
I am not really an audiophile so not very sure. I think Dynaudio puts in the Dynaudio Confidence system, they didn't mention the Esotan driver. video.dynaudio.com/dynaudio-automotive-byd-x-dynaudio
As far as I know, Apple Carplay requires us to connect to the BYD infotainment system using lightning cable. This might help with the lossless audio. I am not an Apple user, so not sure. Hopefully other more experienced Apple users can respond to this comment thread and shed some light.
Can you measure max level audio in player compared to playing same in Android Auto. I felt volume is a it low on max in AA when I tested.
Unfortunately no, my microphone will start clipping the audio if it's too loud. That's why I didn't record at high volume. With AA, I reckon AA has some sort of audio volume optimiser hence the volume might feel different with the BYD infotainment audio. After using AA to listen to my songs and podcast on Spotify, I get feedback request from AA like below screenshot which leads me to think it's adjusting the audio behind the scene:
drive.google.com/file/d/1qLqs9bH2iaC7grRPjdqITd20Pkadd-oZ/view?usp=sharing
@@SkyPerspective what about recording from both your player and AA with your lower volume? Then you will see if the output is different.
@@deserialized from my everyday usage the audio on both AA and Infotainment are exactly the same. I don't think I have that issue.
You should be able to swipe down when using AA and get to quick access and settings to be able change temperature.
Yeah you can also swipe up from the bottom to get the AC control in AA/CP
Is it just me or the version I have got? I swiped up from every part of the bottom edge of AA and nothing come up. In fact I swiped on the top edge, side edges and also bottom edge. Nothing
@@SkyPerspective I will see when I get my Seal, hopefully later this week. But I have tested 3 different versions. In 2307 I could not. But in 2310 and 2311 I could.
@@deserialized thanks for the info. That's probably why. I am on 2309
Qn! How does the sunroof perform in hot and sunny days, and how do you manage it?
There is a pop-out sunshade included but it looks very difficult to install easily. They say the silver-lined glass reflects UV rays - and the salesman said heat too. But I find it gets hot inside, and the glass ceiling is hot to touch - so I've started using the remote start with the aircon running about 15 minutes before I get in - problem solved!
@@dalepurton8118 thanks! any issue though when you are driving and sun is very bright?
It’s pretty dark inside and doesn’t get extremely hot but is warm but auto aircon from phone app works well to cool down car before you enter if you wish 😮
Have you tried activating the camp/pet mode with the steering wheel buttons? At least the Chinese version has this, but not sure if it possible to activate it on cars in other markets as well. Video of this would be interesting.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think our version in Australia has this mode. We don't get a lot of other features like karaoke.
@@SkyPerspective ok, that's a shame. Hopefully BYD puts some emphasis on software updates outside of China soon, to bring these features into other markets as well.
@@SkyPerspective the car is on, but can't go to drive. AC/heater can be kept running the whole night, so you can sleep in the car. In China you can also disable the day-time running lights for this use case (car camping) - not sure if that is possible either outside of China?
@m2onen89 this is exactly what I needed. There are times I want the air con on and want to make sure the car cannot be driven even when someone accidentally step in the brake and push drive, then my kids (not pets) can have a play at the driver seat. This would be wonderful if we can have this mode. I wonder why BYD didn't have this for Australia BYD Seals.
Did you notice a change in the quality of the sound after breaking in your speakers for more than 50 hours?
No not that I know. I have been listening to Spotify, podcast, even watching UA-cam videos, the audio is very good. 👍
I wish I could install some apps like Netflix, UA-cam, Amazon Music and so on...
Yeah and Disney+ too….then coming from a Tesla I won’t feel so short changed 😜
I haven't tried this before, but another channel made a video on how to install third party apps: ua-cam.com/video/guYAMEnsmeY/v-deo.htmlsi=O7j3uFlm33VpqR4W
I am not sure if BYD allows this and most likely if we do this, it will be at our own risk.
I wonder if when these get even cheaper the poorer hackers and computer programmers will get into these and modify things ie enable hacks and stuff for these?
It has the "Power on/off" symbol on it...............I wouldn't call it a hidden button!!
The "button" is a slider with no "push" you benighted individual!!!! Of course it's hidden...give yourself an upper cut for me 😊
This gentleman who runs the channel only agreed with you because he is a gentleman and feels sorry for your stupidity. 😂😂😂
Yeah I have a byd seal and the stereo sucks not loud at all very disappointing probably only bad thing about this car though
You only get full power when you use spotify
Hmm.... tried blasting both native and Android Auto, and then I realised AA might sound better because of the phone's Dolby Atmos and EQ.
It's not a multifunction button. It's just the infotainment switchoff button
@@SkyPerspectiveI found another thing you can try that is a real secret feature, not very intuitive. In apple car play you can swipe up from the bottom of the screen and it should bring up the main bar with the clima control and buttons much like on smartphones.
Please let me know if it works also with android auto
@@mattiacamnasio1153That is only available with the latest version of the software. Unfortunately mine is still the old version and the OTA refuse to update to latest version, so too bad for me, i can't swipe up from bottom. Thanks for sharing the tip with everyone.
my ford automatically dims screens when in and out of tunnels,,,,,,,,,,cmon byd
dumbest car ever made in the history of cars.
pointed out explicitly in the first 3 mins.
1. car doesn't automatically turn on dark mode in a tunnel.
2. car doesnt bring volume to a default, safe listening level on the next journey. any car with a digital stereo has this
3. aircon controls on a touchscreen 🤦♂
which r***rd made this car?
Came across the secret button when I installed a BYD dash cam, had to reboot system to install app., the sound in the car is really good too.
