Hey Andrew...wow twice!!...I know your wife is a Nurse...I just had a Calcium Cardiac Score done Its a CT scan of your heart to make sure my blood vesseles around my heart were not getting clogged....interesting thing the Doctor could also see my Lungs and mentioned Covid19...I was good both ways insurance will not cover it :( but it was ony 75 dollars at Baylor Heart hospital...not medical advice peace of mind keep up the great videos
Maybe I missed it but it would have been nice if you mentioned the mm/sec speed for each cut. It's kind of hard to judge it compared to the Master 2 Pro without knowing that.
You could make some key chains with some of your extra wood! But how are you going to make souvenirs with extra electrical, since that's what we've watched the most, LOL
I really love that this has the air assist built into the laser head. I would like to see how it does with translucent or clear acrylic. My main use would be cutting acrylic patterns for leatherwork. You might have to put the tempura paint on both sides though. Great videos.
I bought an atomstack a few years back, it will not cut through 3mm wood unless you do 10 passes. I will wait a bit longer for a newer version of Diode lasers, by then the one you are showing and others in it class will be in the $400 range
Interesting - however i'm more interested in how long some of these tasks take, nobody ever posts how many mins/hours etc they take. Also not recommended to run at 100% power so that will slow things down as well - considering this or a K40 style c02, just cant work out what is best.
Great video, one of the more straightforward reviews I’ve watch. Thank you! You mentioned better settings for glass and the tumblers. Any chance you can share those?
Great video, makes me want to get to engraving. Just say another video we're the guy used that same paint but in an airbrush. Look forward to the coaster being on sale.
I'm going to get a cheap airbrush set the next time Harbor Freight has one on sale. In the meantime I found aerosol cans that attach to containers, you can mix that paint up nice and thin and spray it. They only cost $5.
Hey Andrew, was wondering if the taper on the glass and tumbler makes things difficult? Would setting the glass in a roll of duct tape or something similar keep the distance from the laser more even? This is quickly becoming my favorite channel… good luck with ur projects
You can actually cut a wooden ring with the laser the same outer diameter as the large end of the glass or tumbler. Then slip it on the smaller end to make things even. Or you can use the adjustable height mechanism that come extra with the rotary.
This answered my question about the taper. Great video. Do you have a video on the light burn software? Is it pretty intuitive or does it have a steep learning curve?
I just got this for Christmas and using the laser explorer app at 100% power i couldn't get it to cut through 1/4 plywood, so im calling bs on the 20 or 19 mm cuts
Call BS all you want, your ignorance is showing. Big difference between solid pine wood and laminated plywood. I suggest you try cutting using the materials I did before posting.
@The Kelley's Country Life I just did using 100% power and the same number of passes and it did not cut through it. I used 3/4" solid yellow pine.... I guess I'm still doing something wrong, somethings wrong with the laser or this laser is not as powerful as advertised..
I love seeing how it cut. Thanks for the vid! Just got an email saying mine was just shipped. I can’t wait to get it! Any recommendations on settings for different material? Speed/power?
Still learning all that myself, go to Oturs website and bookmark their materials page. It has recommended settings for all types of materials to cut and engrave.
Nice video. The laser doesn't cut vertically. At 10:49, you can see the part in your right hand is in fact a cone. May be with an adaptive and automatic depth of focus on each pass, depending on the material thickness, for the ortur master 4 ?
Please put this thing in an enclosure, any metal that reflects the laser light out of the frame will damage your eyes. Real laser cutters/ engravers are enclosed and have appropriate laser shielding for eye protection. These things are great, yes but you only have vision once!
hello I have the same set up with the Dewallie rotary would you mind sharing a screen shot of the settings you have for it. I'm having trouble getting my settins correct
DPI settings, lowering power and speeding up. I was burning so hot last time I was etching the stainless. I'm not use to the power of the 10 watt versions over the old 5 watt that I am use to.
What's your settings for the glass engraving? I've been struggling using cold galvanizing compound with the consistency I want SOOO I went out and bought an airbrush kit with all of the accessories. I've spent the better part of the last 4 days engraving glass. Ran lots of tests etc etc and just not getting that perfect setting. I've been watching videos here and there and most of them are the xTool. So I set my Ortur Laser Master 3 with the same settings but my stuff doesn't come out as good as the videos I've been watching.
I'd be very interested to know if any of these lasers can cut through an aluminium composite panel even though I very much doubt it(most likely need a CNC) but would be great to know.. The new OLM3 sounds enticing though, thanks for the review :)
Do I buy ortur master 3 and a rotary tool or buy the xtool d1 which comes with the rotary tool I belive in your opinion? I have a cnc so I don't need to be cutting thick wood with it. Good review 👍
That's a tough one..... They both are going to have similar capabilities. The Ortur has the built in air assist head and nozzle, that's extra for the Xtool. The xtool has adjustable feet and their rotary is second to none. The Ortur has multiple safety features if that's important to you. The xtool has more add ons and, accessories. I hope that helps you make your decision. They are both huge steps up from previous 5 watt open platform lasers. I like the direction both companies are driving their products.
Ok, I am getting really discouraged with this laser. I ran a project on .13" oak ply at 300 mm/m and three passes at 90%. It took over an hour and a half and didn't come close to cutting through. Any ideas? Will this machine actually cut?
Are you using air assist? That makes a significant difference in my experience. Air assist should always be used for cutting. Are you making for sure to properly space your laser head above the work piece? I own a Xtool d1 10watt and this laser, I can attest that the laser Master 3 cuts better than the Xtool.
Andrew, I was wondering if you have a basic design for your laser machine and you have a thick piece of wood like you had today, would you be able to flip the piece of wood over and finish the cut from the back side. Kind of like if you were drilling something and you don't want to blow out the other side so you drill a little then move to the other side. If your computer program will allow you to rotate your design you might be able to do more complex tasks if you can burn from both side? I don't have a laser burner so I am putting it out there if you want to see if you can. Thanks God bless
Flipping the piece ver and not having exact reference points would be difficult, but not impossible. I'm curious to try 1/2 pine. Also plywood vs solid wood.
Hey buddy, I'm interested in that honeycomb base. I noticed you don't have it in your description as an amazon affiliate link, so I had to run to ebay. I have the ortur 3 burner and don't feel like cutting into plywood every time I use it. Will that honeycomb base work with the ortur, or is it only for co2 type devices (I have no idea how co2 factors into it, it's just what I saw on ebay for that base). Thanks in advance!
Sorry about that, I can dig up the link for you as I did forget to post it. That honeycomb works just fine for diode lasers and has a metal backing so there is no pass through to the work surface. I'll update the video description with the honeycomb.
Thanks for the review. I have two questions: 1) How do you compare this laser with the Sculpfun S10 and/or xTOOL D1 10W? 2) Does "madethebest" send the Ortur laser master 3 to Brazil? Thanks
I don't know about to Brazil, I would assume yes. I also own the xtool d1. They both have comparable specs. The Ortur has more safety features, the xtool has more accessories. The Ortur is currently a little cheaper with discounts. The xtool has adjustable feet as a add on for rollers and thicker objects. The Ortur also has the air assist built in the laser module and includes the nozzle. I hope that helps you make a decision.
Tough one.... I prefer the X tools accessories and support. I really like the air assist feature on the laser head of the Ortur. It's honestly nit picking, they both perform similarly in my opinion. I'd get whichever one is on sale.
Sorry to make you repeat yourself, would you go with XTool 20W (w/ rotary) or Ortor 3 (w/ rotary)?? I would cut 1/4 MDF/Birch ply, engrave cutting boards and tumblers. I have a scroll saw so I would use to cut 1/2 MDF/Birch ply. Please let me know. Thanks
Tumbler work, Xtool all day long. Cutting seemed a little more effective with the Ortur. Personally I'd get whichever one is on sale. They are very comparable. Xtool seems to have more accessories if that matters for you.
I'm really not sure why this is considered "amazing power". The 20 watt lasers have been out longer than this model are are twice as powerful. Disappointed that Ortur didn't release it's own 20w model.
I'd assume one is coming soon. But it will be considerably more money. There is plenty of usefulness with a model like this at a more respectable price point.

Love that you are showing different options for us in lasers.
Glad you enjoy the content
Another great review. Those changes to the settings also made a tremendous difference in the final look as well.
Sure does look better

Great work with the Ortur Laser and rotary tool. Good to hear your over the Couf. Look forward to you outdoor kitchen build.
It has started! 😉
Outstanding. Take it easy, no need for a third outbreak of the plaque.
Pretty sweet new laser Andrew. Definitely won’t be bored
Nope, I've got ideas! 🤔
Maybe I missed it but it would have been nice if you mentioned the mm/sec speed for each cut. It's kind of hard to judge it compared to the Master 2 Pro without knowing that.
Awesome review Andrew. You'll have those settings dialed in quickly. Can't wait for the outdoor kitchen! Glad ya'll are feeling better too.
The build has started!
Hi, Andrew! I am excited about your hobby room. That’s going to be fun watching you set it up and make interesting items!!!!!
I'm really excited to have a small work space in the AC.
Those circles you cut out would look really nice as drawer pulls for your outdoor kitchen
Congratulation on your new toy. Looking great. Sorry about Second Covid. You are certainly having fun with the new laser.
Sure am!
You can make really neat stuff with that laser. 🤠 I am really happy for you. 🤠
Looking good Andrew!
Interesting review Andrew. It's amazing what you can do with the lazer. You will eventually have a really nice set up for projects ahead. 🌞🇨🇦
Can't wait to get my hobby room done.
Dang Andrew, (this is a compliment cause I think your both awesome)is there anything you can't do...
Lol there is plenty I can't do..... But that doesn't mean I'm not going to try to figure it out.
Those laser projects would make for some nice contest/giveaways. (hint*hint)😊
Sure will, I do have some of that planned 😉
You could make some key chains with some of your extra wood! But how are you going to make souvenirs with extra electrical, since that's what we've watched the most, LOL
Lol I've used up most of the excess electrical.
Ortur a does have extension legs, at least now they do. Thanks for evalling this, I am about to order one.
Great to hear, that was something that bugged me.
I really love that this has the air assist built into the laser head. I would like to see how it does with translucent or clear acrylic. My main use would be cutting acrylic patterns for leatherwork. You might have to put the tempura paint on both sides though. Great videos.
I have tried translucent and could not quite make it through, I am curious to try it with paint.
Love your reviews.

It varies based on the glass type. 100 percent power and 25 mm/s was working well for me.

I honestly can't remember and I'm not near my computer to get those settings. Remind me tomorrow.

why build riser feet instead of cutting out a hole for the bed and lower it with a lab jack?
The dremel 3d printers are pretty good for the price. We had one in my dads classroom and it was really good.
I didn't realize they made those.

I know, I seen! I'd love to see how well that one cuts.
Let’s see some metal etching and possibly cutting?
This can etch stainless, but will not cut metal.

If you have a planer, you can make your own 1/2 inch boards out of your 3/4 inch pine boards.

its probably better to use vector image files too
I do use vectors often
