Nice tip - thanks! I love my Ditto x4 - it has become a major part of my performance set-up. That said, this will probably be my last TC Electronic pedal.....I have purchased 4 different pedals from you guys, and 2 of them no longer function. As a working musician, I find this unacceptable. You can’t charge boutique prices for products that are cheaply made “off shore”......they don’t stand up to the rigours of night after night usage. Sorry for the negative comment, but you guys have to tighten that shit up......just sayin’
Open it up. Reseat the SD card properly. If that doesn't work, d/l the image (iso) file for the image and burn it onto the card. "How To Repair a Bricked Ditto X4 Looper Pedal" video has a link to the image file. You might just have to reseat the SD card.
For some reason, the second example of "hold" set @ 2:32 does not work for me. All other effects will set, with "hold" being the only exception. Using newest firmware. Any thoughts?
Like you guys trying to make the ultimate DL4, but it kind of sucks that you have to turn a knob to get the different "FX" where on the DL4, you either double tapped or held.
I just installed the newest firmware update, and I can't seem to get the hold fx trick to work, every time I twist the fx knob after holding down it goes back to the regular loop. Was it removed or am I doing it wrong?
Trying to get my head around the 'Current Loop' versus 'Backing Track'. Sunds like current loop stays in some non volatile RAM when the pedal is switched off, you can then push that to a back track to transfer to DAW. But does that mean once you have it in backing track if you clear the current loop you cant then replay it from the backing track, which confuses me because surely once you throw an MP3 etc into the right folder you have to be able to trigger it to play some way. So I guess I'm asking, if something exists in the folder for loop 1 or loop 2, is that what will always play once you hit the relevant footswitch.
+BiBaBuBeBo GurrGurr - nope, sorry. But you can stack certain effects like reverse and half-time or reverse and double-time. You can also apply Tape Stop, Fade and Once to whatever FX you may have going at the time :)
I'd love to be able to bypass the playing loop without stopping, and without hearing the snapshot of the hold effect. Just a plain bypass. Is that possible?
can you release the hold again after you froze it by turning the dial? Also can you start both loops at the same time with a single button or would you have to press both start buttons together?
+JackFou - Yes, you can release the hold again, by turning the dial back to the HOLD FX and then pressing the FX button. You can't start both loops with a single button. You have to press both loop track switches to start them at the same time.
Damn that’s some pretty clever shit you crazy Vikings. Can I keep stacking FX as long as the HOLD is in place. Like doubling until only dogs can hear it. Or half speed until I lose my bowels
research no more... buggy unit... no reliability whatsoever.. can't get lights to shut off and is a known issue. renders unit useless... never try to gig with this... you'll embarrass yourself
Wow, I didn’t know about that tap tempo-like function, thanks
If only the Hold function could work like the Freeze pedal. The tap tempo does help, but man if only the hold would freeze it!
Cool tricks. My Ditto x4 is on it's way to me in a couple of days... looking forward to working with it in my live performance setup!
Nice tip - thanks!

@tcelectronic
- One question remains unanswered!!
Is there relation between midi Sync and the hold function?
My Ditto x4 will hold a subdivision of the tempo it receives via MIDI. I think it's an eighth note.
Just got mine and this is so helpful! Thanks
Cool video dude I have yet to get my ditto Looper but planning on getting it soon thanks for the tips and hacks cheers🍻
What's the "hack" for when it bricks at only a year old?

WOW so good. thank you for letting me know!!! BLESSINGS FROM HOUSTON TX!
HTine Hold it Dine🤘

Does the 'Hold FX' stay in sync with the midi tempo it's receiving?
Emil Mortensen no it only syncs to the taps
Bummer. I thought it did..this means u have to push stop, then fx, then start your next loop with your foot.hopefully on time.
If MIDI IN is connected, is there a way to make the hold function works with subdivisions of the tempo or you absolutely have to tap it manually...?
yeah that would be nice.
and i want to resample the stutter. :)

are there also some tricks on the other fx? maybe the length of the "tape stop" and the function of "once"?

More x2 tonehacks please? 😃
+Bobo Renthlei agreed!

Cool trick. One question, While in sync mode is it possible to apply the fx to only one of the loops recorded?
+Andres Samur - Happy you liked the trick. FX apply to all active loops, so if you have both tracks running, they will both be affected by the FX.
Are the effects synced to midi too?
Is it possible to reverse a loop and then record a different loop and not have it be reversed as well?
i have the same question, if i find out anything ill share it with you ;)
yes
can you resample the stutter?

It'd be great if you guys added an "Start All Loops with one button" feature in any future developments. You guys are awesome!
What the hold you want is too short to tap?
Damn that’s some pretty clever shit you crazy Vikings. Can I keep stacking FX as long as the HOLD is in place. Like doubling until only dogs can hear it. Or half speed until I lose my bowels
only makes me more determined to buy it, just waiting for it to be in the store I go to
Nifty!
Sounds like a faulty cd. But I'm grateful for the other effects.
Not a parent for a Gecko.
Why do they put these cheesy effects in a looping pedal? Id rather not have the chance of hitting the silly button.
It's a feature, not a hack, in fairness.
I'd love if I didn't have to install firmware every few weeks to get this pedal working consistently - If it freezes up at a gig your stuffed ...
research no more... buggy unit... no reliability whatsoever.. can't get lights to shut off and is a known issue. renders unit useless... never try to gig with this... you'll embarrass yourself
Absolutely
This seems too complicated for a simple hold function.
