Hey guys, you can now find most of my UA-cam stuff on Spotify! Here is a link to my Random Jams playlist : tinyurl.com/random-jams-spotify My music is also available on iTunes, Apple Music, Tidal, TikTok and pretty much everywhere else. Love y’all
Man, every single video that come out, I watch it and go "damn, this is good, I should subscribe" and then I realize that I subbed over 2 months ago the first time you did DT and guitar! Congrats on the channel growth, hope to see you hit 50k soon!
Thank you so much for the support mannn, the growth is actually crazy, I'm super stoked. :o Hope the next videos will make you want to subscribe as well!
Your videos, performances and music are really great! And then, the descriptions and workflow explanations you offer us...that really takes the cake, THANK YOU!
Very relaxing piece, Aldo! Love the sound you're getting out of this minimal setup. Congrats again on the huge boom in views and subs man, it's *still* going on! :D
I just found your page- I'm extremely impressed by all of your work! It's inspiring... Actual compositions going on, not just glitchy preset noise making... So thank you, For your work and sharing these with everyone! ✌🏻🦈🌪
Ei brother. Acho incrível a flutuação de idéias que você externa da mente. Você pra mim é uma inspiração. Sempre vejo seus vídeos. Obrigado por compartilhar! Parabéns cara!
that was great, you don't hear a lot of ambient stuff made with the pocket operator. I've tried it a few times, but I didn't have the loop pedal, its a good pairing.
You're amazing Aldo...not only the mechanics, but your song itself is magnificent Do you have a platform where you upload your works? Soundcloud? Spotify?
Hey, well first you obviously want to connect the Keystep MIDI Out to the Volca FM, then if it's not working there are usually 2 things that can happen : - The MIDI channels are not matching. MIDI signals can contain data on 16 independent channels but a device is only listening to one channel at a time. You have to make sure that the Keystep is sending data on the channel that the Volca is listening to. On the Keystep side, you simply have to press Shift + note 1 to 16 to select one of the 16 channels, let's say 10. Now on your Volca you can check which channel is selected by holding the Memory button while turning the unit on. One of the 16 steps will be lit and indicate which channel is selected. If it's not 10, simply press the step 10 to select it. :) - The Volca isn't listening to MIDI notes. There is a setting on the Volca called "MIDI RX ShortMessage" and if it's off some MIDI messages will be ignored. To access global parameters, hold Func while turning the unit on, the step 7 corresponds to that setting and should be lit. If it still doesn't work you should probably contact Korg support!
Aldo this is awesome! I love the simplicity! I have a stereo looper and a few effects for guitar and bass but now I want to try this too! Just a thought... Can you upgrade any of the chips in the PO? FET chips are super cheap and can make a big difference to sound quality... Have subbed to your channel 😎👍
Hey, thank you so much for the support! Since all the processing happens behind the screen, I feel like it would be pretty hard to change anything inside, but I'm no expert. :)
Yep, mini-jack mono to regular-jack mono, this one to be more specific > www.thomann.de/gb/doepfer_adapter_cable_6335_mm.htm Not cheap but super handy! And thank youuuu
Could u explain how u connected this? The end of the chain is the blue pedal into the interface and to computer right? Pocket synth to the mono input? Is that it?
I would love to have seen the recording section too! Do you then split the output for one to the daw and the other to the pa/speaker system or do you run an audio interface in all between that which provides the split and how did you join audio and the video footage in the end, I would really appreciate if you tell something about that too, thanks in advance!!!
Hey, of course : I recorded the mono signal from the delay pedal output into my Scarlett 2i2 soundcard with Pro Tools, and I was listening to the recorded signal with headphones. It's always a good idea to listen to the actual recorded signal, it's the only way to be sure it's clean! And yeah I sync the audio with the video in my editing software afterward. To make this easier I play a series of short notes before I actually start the performance (similar to a clapper board for movies). Hope that helps! :)
@@Aldoistaken Thanks so much! Yes, that helped me a lot, now I have a full picture in my head and thanks for the 'clapper board' advice, will keep that in mind! best regards and greetings from germany, rl
Hello, how did you connect the PO-16 to the Ditto? I see the PO-16 has a 3.5mm output jack and you connected only the delay pedal to a mono input. Awesome music, I found your channel randomly on UA-cam and I enjoy your music very much!
Hey thanks! I didn’t synced them at all, I just roughly timed it manually. You could sync them but not with the Ditto jack input as it only accepts audio. You would need an external sequencer to sync the Ditto and you would need to convert that same MIDI clock to a pulse that the PO will recognize (a Volca can act as a converter).
noice ! Also the deep blue delay looks awesome. Did you buy a custom case for it or did you make it yourself and draw on it with marker ? The customised version looks far better than the actual unit looks native haha!
sounds Awesome! THX Now iam Thinkin ...should also train again a Bit with my POfactory... but in my case its gettin oftin so fast and frickling whatever ... and whoops ...its turned into hardcore bit Desastermashine. ✌🤓& 💚
Hi Aldo. Just recently found your channel. Great job man! I like your approach with music making. Is like a mixture of many and diverse things I like (and some that I havent explore yet). A 0 coast, digitakt, a Ditto and a guitar!! Never tought of that combination. I also like your live looping style. I am considering buying a Dittox4 and I have some questions regarding the backing track mode. Once you convert a loop into backing track, how easy and fast is to stop it and erase i? What can you do with it after? Im curious to know what is your experience with this function in a live improv/performance situation. Hope you could help please. Greetings from México. Where do you come from by the way?
Hey, thank you for the very kind words! I don't really use this function in a live setting, I only use it to store loops that I love so that they won't go away when I turn the pedal off. But it's quite easy and fast to use, saving a loop as backing track take like 2 seconds and erasing it takes maybe 4 seconds? This has to be done with a switch though, so pretty much impossible with your feet for example. But yeah you could easily start your song with a backing track and then erasing it and create a new loop instead. :) Oh and I'm from France, but currently based in London!
@@Aldoistaken thanks for the info man!. I found that there's a CC for storing and erasing the backing tracks. 20 and 21 for loop1, 26 n 27 for loop2. Thats pretty handy. And why did you prefered the Ditto over other loopers? What do you like the most about it? I heard that the Pigtronix Infinite looper is a little bit similar bythe way.
Oh right I didn't even thought about this! And the only reason I went for the Ditto is because it's the cheapest hardware looper with MIDI capabilities and I'm broke, aha. The Pigtronix Infinity looks wayyy more reliable. The Ditto has very similar features and could be amazing but it's kinda unstable. It crashed on me quite a few time when messing with FXs and there are a lot of similar stories across the TC forum. The latest firmware seems slightly more reliable but the MIDI implementation is fiddly. I still like it though, for the price it can do some cool stuff (multiple unsynced loops, cool reverse and half-speed FX, controlled with MIDI...). It's just really frustrating because it has a lot of potential and TC Electronic is doing nothing to fix it. :/
@@Aldoistaken well thats a downside to consider. But yes..still a good price compared to Infinity looper. I use one in the iPad called Quantiloop, it can do all the things both loopers does and much more, specially because it lets you freely configure each track and the global settings. Its a 4 track looper. So for instance you can have 2 tracks in Serial mode. And the other 2 in Parallel, synced or unsynced. Very good midi implementation. It lets you configure the input of eeach track...even the output if you use Audiobus and AUM. And you can load Auv3 fx or Sources. You should check it out. But well..i guess you are more into a only-hardware approach? I also want to try that.
This sounds super powerful indeed! But yeah I'm more inspired with hardware, I don't really enjoy making music on a computer in general (probably because my laptop is 10 years old, aha). There are some amazing thing available on iPad though!
