Huntsville is an amazing place! That's were the locals like to go to hit the slopes in the winter or the lake/hiking trails in the summer! Thank you for the comment and for checking out the video!
Thank you for watching! You know first hand how much the area has changed over the years :) My kids get a kick out of going to the gulley and hearing stories about all of us basically living there all summer. Good times, my friend! Glad to know you are doing well :)
Went to lagoon park. Its amazing! Ppl left their backpacks out, ride operators were super friendly, i love the 4x4 community! I would move theire from nevada ina heartbeat!
Thank you! We tried to have fun and it was easy to do - Kim is eternally optimistic and I (the guy) am a realist (eternally pessimistic). Thanks for watching and commenting!
I'm in woodbury minnesota. Looking to move to Draper Utah. Been looking online and need to increase my budget, house prices are high. Looking for new construction
Yeah, housing prices rocketing is one of the worst things economically long term unless you already own your own home. Pricing people out of affordable housing causes severe problems.
What is there not to like about Utah? Driving the Moki Dugway, the Navajo Tribal Park at Four Corners, Zion National Park, Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Capital Reef National Park and the state parks are just as beautiful.
I agree with most of your points however, with a $200k home, now $600k, Utah salaries have remained relatively low. A person making $100k in 2019 is not suddenly making $300k. I don’t know the statistics, you might, but I have a feeling that most of the home sales are going to people coming in from out of state with FB, Adobe, Google etc. and they brought their salaries with them. My neighbors who bought land and built a home on that land (Utah lake front property…the lake is their backyard with views of Timpanogas) said that their kids rent is more than their mortgage on a 6 bedroom, 4 bathroom, 3 car garage and a (“drop your jet-ski in the water from your private dock”) house. A 1-bedroom in a very bad, crime ridden neighborhood is $1600. That same apartment was $690 in 2019. I doubt the tenants salary has increased as well. So home prices and rents skyrocketing and salaries remaining lower than average, not great. Otherwise, very beautiful here. I lived a lot of places (LA, Santa Barbara, Hawaii, Boston, Orange County) so I think I do have a pretty good barometer of what’s better and what’s not great.
I think if you're upper class it has everything to offer. If you're more traditional 'rough neck' working class or 'sub-culture' you might not find it as appealing here. Or if you love those typical 'happening' restaurant districts like in a lot of other cities (Denver, San Diego, Austin, San Antonio, etc) you won't find them here either.
You don't need to warm up newer vehicles. Because of all the sensors new cars have it is unnecessary to warm up. The older cars maybe 90s and older do need to warm up because they don't have as many sensors.
I waited to long it seems. I paid on my calif home my whole life looking forward to the calif cash out being able to sell here and pay off the loan while having the money to purchase the next house with cash. The sweet spot was pre covid.
We’re from Wyoming.. last 6 years have been spent on the east coast (NC and PA) and we absolutely hate it! We were going to look into Utah as we miss the outdoors but holy cow!!! The housing prices are just insane. Great video btw. I’d find myself agreeing more with him except the winter thing. We love to sled and miss it greatly.
I say housing prices are insane because wed like to be in the outskirts of salt lake. Not the desert area down south. I know it’s a wanted beautiful area so I get it, but dang. We now pay almost 7k in taxes a year though. So that huge of a drop in taxes puts us in a higher range of house because our payments would be the same. We didn’t want to go above 300k but it’s looking to be not above 400k now.
Thank you for watching and commenting! I (Ben) lived in NC in my teens and, as much as I hate to admit it, I did miss the snow. Maybe I should modify my comments in the next video to stress that I don't like how long the winters are. I love the first and last snow of the year, as well as snow during the holidays and, yes, to go sledding with my kids :)
My family plus my mother and sister’s family are looking to move out of NY and I’m trying to convince them that Utah should be our new home state! Hope you make more videos about what it’s like to live in utah
I'm only 19 and still in college so I'm at the mercy of the future housing market😂 I really want to move close to the SLC area after college but I'm afraid it'll be far too expensive.
Home prices will vary depending on where you live but there are always options, like finding a home that needs updating or buying a home that allows you to rent a portion to offset payments. We've helped a lot of young homebuyers get into homes that meet their needs and their budgets. When you are ready, there is always a way.
I don’t think the 18k people that moved to Utah from California last year had the impact on the market most people think they did, but I get your point. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@lifeinutah so all the Utahns who tell me that almost everyday lied about that too? Man I haven't been this disappointed since I found out Santa Claus wasn't real
I’m not Jewish, but there are a couple synagogues and a Jewish community center in Salt Lake (mostly Reform), one in Park City, one in Ogden, and one in St. George. The center in SLC hosts a lot of community events. Recent stats suggest about 6K Jews in the state (less than 1%), but almost all the Mormons have a big affinity (very inaccurately and very accurately) for Judaism. A lot of Mormons have been to Jerusalem, own kippahs and menorahs, etc. Most grocery stores in Salt Lake County carry a good selection of foods that are kosher for Passover.
Not going to lie, stopped watching at #3. Just restating pro to con is valueless. Come up with valid reasons, anyone with sense can determine is the pro is a pro or Con to them.
Thank you for your feedback and for watching as long as you did. I agree with you that anyone with sense can determine their own pros and cons - we made this video because we help a lot of people find homes when relocating and these are the main questions they ask us, so we are trying to give an honest review of what we like and don't like about living here.
@@lifeinutah no it isn’t. What’s the point of increasing equity when the price of alternative homes is also increasing. It’s only beneficial if you’re moving states and you have more purchasing power in said state. It’s the problem I’m suffering with right now. Bought my house in 2020 and it’s gone up in value by 50k. However everything else has gone up by 50k or more as well. So it doesn’t really help me.
Haha commenting this in one of the wettest winters... snow plows are out first thing in the morning...no. Winter after winter, Utah doesn't know how to handle it..
I am not sure where you live, but I (Ben) thought the same thing until I lived in North Carolina and Texas - when it snowed there, although it was rare and brief, it seemed like the entire city shut down and there were accidents all over.
A few things to know. Do not want cold, look at Saint George or Cedar City. Salt Lake City area is HORRIBLE with pollution! Utah taxes EVERYTHING! Look at it. Retirement is hit. As for Mormons, if my mormon family, who has lived their says it is too mormon.
Okay, I couldn't finish this. This wasn't a pros and cons, it was just one saying something disliking that same thing. You spent 7 minutes and only talking about like 4 or so things (again didn't finish, it got old and uninformative)
Sorry you didn't like the video but thank you for watching as long as you did and commenting. I (this is Ben) truly hate the cold winters and see the other things I mentioned as things someone really needs to consider before moving here. There are too many videos, in my opinion, where people make it sound like Utah is all sunshine and rainbows so I wanted to combat Kim's energy and optimism with a counter argument to the things she likes about living here. I also made a complete "cons" video and tried to be as honest as I could about things I think outsiders may struggle with when moving here. Hopefully you'll like the next one :)

Then, stay out of Salt Lake City.
Thanks for taking the time to put this together, I now know where I want to live! Y'all are on fire! Keep up the good work!

Loved this! Looking forward to learning all of the things about Utah.

Thanks for telling both sides. I have lived there and know firsthand about what it's like.
wow the liquor laws sound like a hassle would love to hear more about that!
Oh yeah, liquor laws here are confusing but they are getting a lot better. Watch for an upcoming video specifically about Utah's liquor laws
Dumb laws from a controlling religion, that is all they are.
What about Southern Utah they don’t get snow that you would need a snowplow for. All of Utah does not have the same climate!
I agree to a point. Cedar City is part of Southern Utah and it snows there all the time. St. George rarely snows but still gets cold in the winter.
i want to go in utah. i love that place so amazing
Nice Job !!! Love it
Thanks for the support, Ray! Glad you enjoyed it!
Looking to move to SLC area next year! Might have to live in a motorhome or rent but it's all good just to be there
