I just moved in October 2020 and the people here are so nice. I am thankful everyday to be able to move here in Salt Lake City. The mountains are a beautiful reminder of how blessed I am to have moved here.
Just remember earthquake safety.. it’s a thing that’s overlooked..
Just remember how the rising crime and dope fiends and judgemental people are overlooked as well
Hows the winter ?
How's the weather. I am looking at relocating from Des Moines Iowa. Do you have any UA-cam videos or a blog that can help me with Slc? (salt lake city
You get a bit of everything, spring is nice and sunny, summer is hot, fall is chilly and you get to see the leaves change colors, for winter it changes. Last year there was hardly any snow, this year we had about 5 inches of snow and icy roads and I experienced my first snow squall. The snow stopped but I dont know if we will have more. I like it when it snows but the roads can get slippery. Make sure you have snow tires or all wheel drive and I think you'll be good. Drive slower than what you think in the snow, because I made the mistake of driving slow like 10 or 15 mph but I still slid a little bit. I love it here.
Buying a home in Lehi in 2008 was the best financial decision i've ever made.. Our neighbors literally brought us brownies and offered to help unload our moving truck.
That’s just how we are here in Utah 🙂
Very happy to hear that
So every time you move neighbors are supposed to show up in droves to help cuz their Mormon.🤣🤣🤣🤣 Stick with that story
THIS is why I'm looking to move, the people there seem just genuinely nice. I'm in Colorado and people here are just mean and I'm not that way at all.
Such a nostalgia! I used to live in Salt Lake City from summer of 2017 until summer of 2018. Unfortunately, I got sick with thyroid cancer in the summer of 2018 so I moved back to California to be close to my friends and family since I didn’t have the support system in Salt Lake City. It was one of the best times of my life. At first, I didn’t think I was going to like Salt Lake City when I first moved there but I felled in love with the city. It’s a hidden gem with a lot of good restaurants, the best independent film move theatre (Salt Lake City Film Society), friendly people, Harmon’s Grocery, good public transportation, and getting Sunday’s off from work. I hope to return someday and if my health improves I would love to move back!
Hope you're recovering well man.
@Charming Chowder Salt Lake City is a place where you will like for sure. If you enjoy the 4 seasons, nature, good restaurants, hiking, being around mountains, and being around friendly people then go ahead and try it. I felt like that when I first moved there and I felled in love with Salt Lake City. It’s normal to be scared of new adventures or living in a place one hasn’t lived. If I were you I would do it.
I think its positive that most places close on Sundays. Retail workers deserve a day with no buzz too. Its nice to have a pause day for everyone. It sucks to work on weekends, more that it sucks not going out. It also sucks having your day off at Mondays, where there's a lot more noise
I'm not sure how commonplace it is elsewhere in the American West, but I loved all of the local burger joints in Salt Lake City. Adds to the wholesome Americana vibe.
Wholesome Americana? 🙄
Boy I wish our state had a different image.
@@lagopacifico5275 To be fair, I felt like SLC had a good mix of wholesomeness and burgeoning counterculture. One man's yearning for a restoration of 50's main street is another man's hipster desire to not have to deal with the corporations they saw in adbusters. The biggest part that I found off-putting was how Temple Square is next to the mall.
Yes! I made the list! 😆
A fun video for sure. Nice to have some insight from other people.
Dancers and dance programs are above many states. I've came from New York and Texas. The arts are big here, I love it!
I am so very happy to see this video here. My 19 almost 20yr old son has a opportunity to work in Utah, and we had been hesitant to have him go there to work with a resort in Moab. We are African American, however, my children have grown up very diverse. I feel that when you are willing to create change for yourself, you make it positively through not just researching, but through real life experiences and surrounding yourself around ONLY positive people, along with staying focused, and staying away from things that will bring nothing but a problem. Think smart , move in your own uniqueness, . Wow.. this video was what I needed. It has given me a sense of being. I am excited for my son, and we plan on visiting him after he is there for 3 months. He will not start his position until this April 2023
I’m glad this video was helpful! Best of luck on your journey.
Thank you so much for this informational video. I’m 22 and I’m saving up to move to Utah mid October, it’s been my calling for some years now and I appreciate your honest perspective!
I’m 23 and I’m saving to move there in September!
How’d it go?
@@hubabaloop actually didn’t go. I don’t recommend any young adult move here unless you have a career or set up business here. The cost of living was just trash compared to all the other better places to go. Currently getting ready to move to Erie, PA. So I can be by the water
@@interlink.separate5188 lived in Erie for 4 years, wouldn’t recommend. If you’re local and know what you’re getting into, awesome. Otherwise, try sticking to the suburbs of Cleveland or Buffalo for the lake. Erie is the poorest county in the entire state of PA just to give you an idea…
Thanks for the info! Super useful.
My wife and I just last night checked out a couple of 4k videos on Salt Lake City and was pleasantly surprised how lovely it was. Not a speck of litter, no road rage, not overly busy traffic and the people seem really pleasant in a natural way. If we weren't so rooted where we live in Northern Ireland then this would be the most perfect place to live in the States. Those mountains are stunning. Your streets are so quiet for a city also and that has got to be a huge plus. I love the fact that your shops are closed on Sundays as people can actually get time off work. The UK was just like that back in the 70's until greedy corporates changed all that. Well done Utah for being different to the norm in this world. Thanks for sharing. 😊💙👍
Thanks for commenting!!
There is lots of road rage in Utah.
@jazziered142 you ever live in California? Utah is maybe 10% as bad
Seriously considering moving to SLT this holiday season, and your channel is so incredibly helpful! Thank you!!
Thanks for watching! Let me know if I can help in any way
I worked in utah on a month long assignment doing xray work in plant in salt lake city.one of my lifes biggest regrets is not just moving my family up from the south and just staying.
that was a couple years ago and not a day goes by where i dont regret not moving there .
@@Tania-rg7jp I'd love to.
I have a mortgage and such now
So I'm stuck for now.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on living in Utah.

Thanks for watching!
I moved to Utah in 2019, it really is totally paid back and some really nice people. I'm from South Mississippi and until then the biggest city I had been to was New Orleans, even though I'm settled down now I used to be really wild and still felt like the wildest person there in salt lake, having come from an area where big cities are smaller than SLC I was shocked at how tame it is, way diff from what I am used to with gangs, loud music and parties and just overall what you think when you hear "those people", even the ones who do party and get rowdy are tame compared to the ones I've seen in other areas
Great video as always!
Nice to see and hear what's life looks like in this part of US. Thanks for video. Best wishes from Serbia/Europe.
Nice info man great video
I’m planning on moving to Provo next summer, I visited with my brother a few weeks ago and I absolutely loved it. I want to be able to wake up early and take a hike as the sun rises
Plenty of opportunity for that here Derek - thanks for watching!
@@LivingInSaltLakeCity I just have one question, I’m planning on attending Utah Valley in a few years, but I’m from out of state. Would I need to attend Salt Lake City Community College for 12 months if I want to pay in-state tuition?
@@derekray243 Hi Derek I think it takes two years of residency to get the resident pricing. Salt Lake Community college is a great school to get your generals done.
Being bear spray. Gotta be mountain lions out there!
@@derekray243 Yes, that would be an excellent idea. But even then, you might have to persuade the Attorney General's Office that you're going to be here indefinitely.
I'll be in salt lake city in October and I'm so excited about this trip found your video really helpful I'm coming from Arizona but I'm originally from Pennsylvania so the cold weather shouldn't bother me to much
Nice! We will welcome you! The cold will be mild compared to what you’re used to.

As a an African American woman who moved here from Los Angeles in 2021, I wondered what my lived reality was going to be like. Now that I've been here for over a year, I can say that it has been a very positive experience. A homeless man downtown Salt Lake City called me a racial slur one day, but being called a racial slur in public has happened to me before. Both in Manhattan, New York and Santa Monica, California. So what I experienced downtown SLC that day didn't negatively influence my opinion of Utah. Unfortunately, that's just part of my reality as a Black person; can't blame it on a location. At any rate, I love how clean Utah is and how well the State Government treats their citizens. I love it and am preparing to purchase a home here.
I’m so sorry that you still have to go though this absurdity. I hope you can find an amazing home for you there 🎉❤❤ I live in San Diego and I’m “kind of” 😂 ready for a more peaceful life and less people around
I've been thinking about salt lake city since I saw a travel vlog. It looks so beautiful. It's seems like a Midwest vibe. I'm a African American woman as well.
Sorry but here I Utah boring place it was much better in Los Angeles in here is almost same price no offense there nothing to do just work if you coming to work your my welcome is about good luck to really
Thank you for the great Video's... I have an unusual question. I hate flying and was wondering how bad the turbulence is in general flying in and out of Utah. And is it gray a lot. I realize you get a lot of dry days but I was wondering how dreary it can be there and of course how long does bad air and fires last in general. Thank you in advance.
Great question! Usually it is pretty quiet unless there is a storm coming through while you’re coming in/out. You do get some gray days in the winter but during the summer it is sunny almost every day.
Negative; weather can be crazy. High winds, cold rain ( compared to warmer states), thunder snow is something that I only experienced here, fires and dust storms in summer, and inversions in winter. Biting flys are a pest. (No fleas is a plus!) We have rare earthquakes or tornados. I've never gotten snowed in. The snow plow trucks are on the ball and the grocery stores are open.
Regarding Sunday Shopping, I totally avoid the Grocery Store on Sunday. It's packed, not as much LDS influence as used to be.
It depends. I noticed Provo, and Spanish Fork are pretty empty, but SLC it's the busiest day to go to the grocery store.
Also if you could do a video on apartments in Utah , that’d be great!
All of them will be called Luxury Apartments.
@@pickypeckish3426 Given the prices . . . that's exactly what they all are.

The alcohol is actually positive not negative!
Nah it’s negative. The laws don’t stop people. A drunk will be drunk. There are plenty of them in SLC too. All the laws do is ruin it for decent people.
My fiance and I are moving to Salt Lake City from Anchorage, Alaska at the end of this month(March)! Besides the large population of Mormons, Salt Lake sounds extremely like Anchorage!! This video has given me detailed insight (+&-) and hope for this new move in our lives! Thank you SO much!!!
Congratulations!
In case you’ve never been to Salt Lake yes there is a lot of people of the LDS faith out here but you’re actually going to see them more typically when you go to the suburbs or even rural towns. Percentagewise when you compare other cities in Utah Salt Lake actually doesn’t have that many LDS folks.
I have lived in Alaska and have both friends and family there. So far, it does seem a little similar.
People are judgemental
I live in anchorage right now! I have a friend visiting as i type this and he said it seems like a bigger anchorage!! It looks like its been a year since your comment, how are you liking it there!?
Been here 4 months and I love it so far it’s a big difference coming from Arkansas but love it here so far
Nice!!
I love trail runners I'm one of them but every trail I run is muddy here in Hawaii
Con: The dry climate in Utah will lead to dry flaky skin, dry nose, and you’ll look a little older for it.
Pro: The dry climate in Utah means fewer bugs and your pets won’t get fleas!
Lotion.
Believe me you would rather have a state of overly restrictive alcohol laws than a state of drunks, too many bars and the most DUIs per capita.
Trust me, it is very easy to get wasted in Utah.
The issue in Utah is that a lack of 'drinking culture' means there's basically no congregational aspect for most of the non-religious middle or under class. Sure, people can go to bars, but people have no reason to get together 'socially.' I live in the south now and grown adults are 'bonded' as a culture through their social drinking habits. People drink wine on their porches all over here. There's no 'stigma' associated with it. Very rarely will you ever see adults in a restaurant who aren't drinking alcohol with their meals or hanging out afterwards just ordering drinks and socializing with 'strangers.' People in Utah who 'defend' Utah's drinking environment have no idea what a 'real' drinking social culture is.
Can there really ever be too many bars? JK, but we do have quite a large number of bars in the downtown area. They don't seem to cause many problems, though.
@@Blujonny11 you know alcohol doesn't have to be your personality.. it may be where you're from, but a lot of people in this country don't use it as a personality.
@@coflyer2949 In the U.S. there is 'zero' fallback socially if you have no family or traditional friends as you get older. In many parts of Europe it's far less of a problem because of local neighborhood 'pub' traditions where families, friends and neighbors sit around for a quiet drink. There aren't pool tables or tv screens. There aren't 21 year olds hanging out and getting wasted. There aren't old blue collar guys in baseball caps falling asleep at the bar. There's a reasonable dress code (no baseball hats) and encouragement of social interaction with strangers. There's nice carpet and a sophisticated non-commercialized atmosphere. You would expect to see your grandpa there along with aunts and uncles and cousins. People aren't there to 'be someone different' than who they are.
I must have missed the video that talked about sleeping along the Wasatch Front.
j/k - keep up the good work
My wife and I recently visited last winter. We went to a downtown retro arcade called quarters where there was a ton of locals. They were ALL super friendly. So friendly, in fact, we had a legitimate 10-20 minute conversation with all of them. That city and people are amazing!
Great vid, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
I have an opportunity to move to SLC, Utah from Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦… the CAT dealership Wheeler is willing to sponsor my wife and I to come work at their dealership, but we’ve never been to Utah or even the USA, but the thrill of the adventure is hard to pass up…. Any advice and information would be amazing!
That sounds like a pretty good opportunity! The best thing I'd say would be to watch the videos I have here on my channel, and then come and visit the city if you get the opportunity to do so!
They can use a bedroom for other things, an office, craft room, man cave, woman cave, exercise equipment. Computer room or playroom. I went to college out there and loved the dry climate and didn’t get sick as often as I did in Connecticut. I also worked at Alta Ski Lifts after 4 years of College back in 1982-1983 Ski Season. Started off at Utah State in Logan, and went to the U of U in SLC, for two quarters and back up to USU, where I graduated from. I do miss Utah, but my sister and her kids and grandkids live down here. I want to be with my family. I was able to find my way around so much easier than other places because of the layout of the roads, in the Grid System.
I’m looking forward to meeting nice people. We try and be nice where we live and people act like its a bother to wave or say hello
TONS of nice people here in Utah!
Definitely looking at Salt lake City to move. How's the weather year round. I currently live in Des Moines Iowa. Definitely a refreshing video. Great job but still need to know more about Slc before planning to visit
Awesome! Tons of great info here on the channel!
i mean we experience all the stations, but it’s really hot and dry in the summer and really cold in the winter and the weather is bipolar by the end of winter, we’ll have couple days where it’s 60-65 degrees outside then the next day a storm will come in and it will be back down to 30 degrees or so . Personally my favorite stations are spring and fall, especially spring. I live in the suburbs 15 minutes away from salt lake for reference. We get windstorms at least once a year or a really bad one every couple years, one which will knock down trees or even fences
It's better than Iowa, promise 😂, I come from northern Iowa and stay in salt lake a lot, mostly Ogden. Love it
Its funny cause now that ive lived in alaska, i feel like i can take on all these climate extremeties. Sure its colder in the midwest, but try very cold for 6 months. Utah sounds perfect. Still have the beautiful outdoors and all the conveniences of a larger city
Im trucking out of Salt Lake, I live in Las Vegas I’m so ready to move there!
Whats Las Vegas like
Can you make videos regarding the job and market in SLC?
No way I just got back from working in Utah from Texas. This is the first video I've seen of yours. Im actually thinking about moving over there for a bit. Complete different atmosphere from Dallas.
What did you like about it here?
@@LivingInSaltLakeCity Honestly the scenery going to and from work never got boring. Actually got to experience snow at random times of the day 🤣🤣 so that was another plus for sure
I didn't get to visit Salt Lake due to work I just had to stay around Vernal and Naples which was just a little town people pass through.
Even the real estate agents here are BUILT athletes 💪🏼
Had some Mormons who lived down the street in Kansas and there wasn’t another family so genuinely generous kind and hospitable than they were
Every Mormon I have ever met has been extremely friendly
One thing you'll hear from Utah natives that travel. The nicest Mormons don't come from Utah. It gets weird here, like they'll be polite, but you kinda feel like it's surface nice, not real love.
But LDS folk from other states seem really genuine in their love.
@@highwind1369 interesting, that’s how I felt about the kindness I received in Iowa and Minnesota. Not Mormons, just when you ask somebody if they want something a certain way they would tell you “if you want to” but what they really meant was “no duh” and I’m really not used to that, I’m used to “yes please” and “no thank you”. Clear and polite.
Great video! Can you make a video about Ogden? I heard you mention in another video that Ogden is a big manufacturing area, and my boyfriend and I are looking at different areas around Salt Lake. For some reason on a quick search, Ogden just doesn't seem that interesting...but this is likely where we would need to be since he is an engineer in aerospace tech. Thanks!
Ogden is like a small college town. But if you love the great outdoors there is a lot to do, 20 min from pineview reservoir, 20-30 minutes to skiing and snowboarding at 3 different resorts, hiking, fishing, ect... There a lot of good local restaurants and bars and a couple breweries. 40 minutes from crystal hit springs. Concerts in the summer, farmers markets, and other festivals all on 25th street.
Yes! I need more info on Ogden as well! Moving from Cali to Utah in 3 weeks for my hubby's job at Northrop! Please advise! Thx :-)
I used to work at northrop there in clearfield. Nice people decent area.
Hey buddy thanks for all the informations I am to move to Salt Lake City in a year or so
Awesome!
@@LivingInSaltLakeCity what can tell us about the cheapest house selling prices and which kind of properties are available in there
@@radoanakrm1248 In truth, even now, in the winter, housing prices are quite high. I'm not sure what accounts for this, except perhaps that Utah has more recreational activities than just about anywhere else -- and that's worth quite a lot.
Hey man I have a few simple questions about Utah. I am 25 single and getting out of the military Utah caught my eye as somewhere I would like to live but am not sure of which town around salt lake city would best suit me.
What kinda budget are you working with? What kind of folk do you want to live around? SLC is more blue, Utah County is more red. It's pretty blended but there's still separation.
Also, do you want city life or suburban life or rural life. It's really diverse in this state. It's honestly surprising.
Also, it is a very military friendly state. We've got Hill Air Force Base, Dugway Proving Grounds, Northrup Grumman/ATK, and lots of Army/Air Guard. Folk here are really used to military and defense contractors.
It's all one big metropolis, the Salt Lake metropolitan area, from Provo to Ogden.
Probably cause all the mormons are moving out of the city to Provo and Ogden and more ppl are moving to the city
Non mormons I mean
Arlo Rene it's a megacity basically, but it's only the entire valley(Salt Lake County) not Provo and ogden
yeah i live in slc its kind of werid to live somwhere diffrent cause im use to it but its surpising
Hi! Thank you for the video. I’m wanting to move in 2024 and had some questions about the air pollution and water droughts, those are the things that have maybe put a stop to me wanting to move. Can you please talk more about this?
Yes, I actually just did a video on air quality. You can search for it on my channel
I moved to UT 10 years ago from growing up in the suburbs of Chicago. Top 5
Pro: 1. great outdoor access for nature lover's
2. Friendly people
3. Wide variety of fun activities at door step from (hunting, biking, skiing, rafting, climbing, off roading, etc)
4. Dry climate (makes summers livable) very little bugs rarely worry about rain ruining plans
5. Strong economy... very low employment
Cons:
1. Unaffordable....wages lag national average while costs have risen beyond national average
2. HOT 🔥 low humidity helps but expect 100s alot of summer plan your day around peak temps
3. It's a very family focused if kid's are not in your plan you'll be on the outside looking in
4. Air quality in the valley's is very poor it seems to get worse every year... even summer has it's issues now...
5. Lack of diversity. You'll find a lot of mostly white like minded people.... The Mormans run the State you better accept that before you move here.
I’ve been assigned to serve as a missionary in Salt Lake City. It looks like it’s gonna be an easy transition coming from the northeast
I think it sure will be, I’m saying this is somebody who lives around Salt Lake and has lived in New Jersey and Massachusetts. Within a few months you probably will hear at least one person mention how crazy the drivers are here and they can be but when they do so I tried to tell them about how crazy drivers around Boston are and how a lot of the roads especially in New England are more narrower and have lower speed limits.
Easy transition but awful place to serve a mission.
@@JonasMatthewBahta lmao you should be great full for the drivers in Utah try living in Miami I’ve been here a year and it makes Utah drivers look amazing
A mission? I’m assuming you don’t mean Mormon.
Do home that face south have a higher value than those facing north, for that reason alone?
Not exactly, but it is definitely more desirable.
This might be a stupid question to you, but I really don't know. I get the alcohol laws, but LDS don't consume coffein too (coffee, Coca Cola, Pepsi DrPepper etc) so is that hard to get in Utah too?
No you can buy that at any grocery store or convenience store.
I am thinking of moving there for my job but one of my buddies says there is a big drug addict/homelessness issue there. Is that true?
In downtown SLC, yes there are homeless and drugs, but if you’re in the suburbs you very rarely ever see any of that.
I disagree about the stores not being open on Sunday. Most stores are open unless they are owned by the LDS church or on a property owned by the church.
When the City Creek Mall was opened, one of the compromises made was that bars and restaurants would be permitted to serve alcohol, but would also be required to close on Sunday.
Cool....
Thanks, for sharing. We drove through Salt Lake back in the 1980s. I always thought we should move there(at least the state). Fast forward 35 yrs. Were are grass-fed farmers on 200 acres in WI. Property here is $ 1,000 a acre. I doubt we will ever move to UT. (and weird that I'm watching this video ;)
Wow that’s crazy!
Loved this video! I am old school, a former fire captain. I have an opportunity to move to Salt Lake City. I'm in that process of learning about Utah, a state that I've always liked, as a photographer. This is real, man. Its a huge task to leave everything and venture into the unknown.
Hell, I used to run into burning buildings. I have to remember that, right?
This is just a quick thought. Looking forward to coming over and speaking with a realtor.
Beautiful. Wish I could live in there.
Love from Indonesia,
Just let me know if there's any job vacancy for me.
Hi Indonesia, I m from Bdg
Talk about apartment hunting. (Bed bugs) (parking)
Utah doesn't have a bad bed bug problem, that I've heard of. Not like Baltimore, for example. My nephews apartment was infested.
Great video! We are visiting at the end of October 21. Will be staying in Panguitch UT. My wife and I are also thinking of moving to Utah from South Carolina.
You should really go to Bryce Canyon while you are in Panguitch. It's about 40 minutes away. Chilly in October/November. Especially if you are used to South Carolina.
@@reidellis1988 we will be there for 7 days, gonna see as much as possible!
@@kennethr2906Awesome. You are only about an hour from Zion NP also. Both parks are incredible. Hope you enjoy your trip.

You know the guy is legit when he pronounces Tooele correct 😆
Oh, hello Cody.
I don't see lots of bedrooms as a negative. When I lived there I noticed most homes have a "bomb shelter" in the basement.
Yes a lot of 60's homes have that. One of the properties I own has a bomb shelter!
You're very lucky you have parking. I live in Honolulu and parking sucks here.
Take a breathe and relax...
Can someone tell me how the elevation is compared to the south ? I know it’s higher but has anyone felt bad or maybe even better than your previous home ? I’m in Tennessee and I am struggling with allergies so bad and Utah keeps getting recommended!
Definitely a higher altitude, and dryer air, so it will take some adjusting to get used to. People still have allergies here, especially in the spring, but it should be better than you'd find in the South due to having a more desert climate here in Utah (less trees/pollen/allergens overall)
The valley floor sits at about 4,400 ft. If you travel to Park City, though, it's much higher, and if you go camping in the High Uintas, it's much higher still. Overall, it's much greener in Tennessee than it is here in Utah, but the good news is that here in Utah, we have remarkably diverse landscapes -- a great blessing.
I have lived in California, Utah, and Texas. I honestly feel more tired and out of breath in Utah. The high elevation and air pollution is tough! It is better though for allergies.
I agree. The homes in Utah aren’t great
Most homes here have basements too!
Super old. Overpriced garbage.
Im debating on moving there. Im from texas
What are the reasons you are considering it for?
After doing research. The scenery, weather, amd mountain have me intrigued. Im from west texas and its time for a better scenery. For few months utah has justncontinued to draw my attention. Beem researching it. As a electrician im sure theres plenty of work out there
UTAH USA 🇺🇸 IS THE PLACE TO WORK PLAY TRAVELING
Wow! 😃 Hmmmm
Any plumbers working in the SLC area? If so, how’s the work out there?
Tons of plumbers here. Pay is good and ranges from $60-110/hour
@@LivingInSaltLakeCity I’ve got almost 10 years of experience in SoCal but im seeing that utah requires plumbers basically to start over. Is this true? Thank you.
@@kj4362 I don't know what you mean by "start over" but all the trades in Utah (plumbing, electrician, welding, etc.) are insanely busy due to the migration influx, a booming tech economy and a shortage of housing that is causing construction everywhere. Commercial and residential construction growth is off the charts. If you're even a little competent you'll have all the work you could want.
@@TrendyStone in regards to licensing. In CA you can work under someone else’s license. In Utah it looks like I need to go through an apprenticeship for a couple years until I’m “allowed” to work on applications that I’m accustomed to, which results in much lesser pay.
@@kj4362 Oh, I see. Got it. If you do want to make the move, now is a great time since there is such a shortage of plumbers in the state. You could work under a sub-contractor with a license for awhile as a stepping stone to whatever you want to do and with the shortage you'd still make pretty good wages..
Hey man, how are the health jobs in the salt lake? my wife want to work as a nurse
There are tons of healthcare jobs here. That’s probably the 2nd biggest industry and there is huge demand
10 spots away from the front door!
Man help me find a job there! I have a class a cdls
CDL License? There are tons of jobs around, it should be very easy to find something!
I'm moving soon, let's collab!
Is there any job opportunity?
Yes! That's what is bringing so many people here to the area.
@@LivingInSaltLakeCity what companies should I apply to? I want an administrative job but no one will contact me. I live in Minnesota
I would like to see a Black person's perspective of Utah. lol
Right! That’s what brought me here👀😂
Hmm friendly but can be fake nice and just because someone is nice doesn’t mean they are good. I would say there are many Mormons who are very judgmental and hypocritical but then go to church so everyone thinks they are perfect. You also forgot the disgusting inversion in the winter where you can’t even see the sky just all smog. Also the cost of living has dramatically increased as many people are moving to salt lake. I would say if you want the mountains and somewhere similar to salt lake move to Denver. It’s about twice as big more to do and the church doesn’t dominate the state.
Except, of course, the mountains near Denver are still about 50 miles away from the city. That's not the case here, because SLC is built right up against the mountains.
Idk if the parking is a positive 😬
5 or 6 bedrooms, now it’s like 4000 a month for that. That’s not normal anymore 😂 great video man
Didn't I see you holding a sign at the end of the freeway off-ramp? An a realtor to boot. The line of sight for a realtor in the tip of their nose to the end of their commission.
I grew up in the mountains in Brazil and today I live in San Diego, where I absolutely love 😂 My husband might get orders soon and we have a big chance of moving to Utah (he’s originally from there and his whole family lives there). I love it on Christmas, it’s cool in the summer (love the dryness!!!!) I’m just afraid of not adapting, because what I love about San Diego (besides the ocean 😭💕) is how you can find basically anything here. A year from now, so let’s see 🙏🏻
You are the authority on Salt Lake City topics 💪 That's some hard work you have been doing! Congratulations. My boyfriend and i lived in Miami for 10+ years. We left to travel the world. But now we are ready to go back to America. However, Miami is no longer very appealing to us 😂. We want more outdoor activities, less drinking, and a nice/spacious house :)
We would like to consider you as our realtor 💗 but we would like to know if you are available at the moment and if its possible to find a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom for 3,000/month in a walkable area in Salt Lake city?
Hi thanks for watching!! It sounds like Utah would be a great fit for you guys. You can absolutely find a place that would be walkabale and have a ton of amenities at that price point. You are probably looking in downtown SLC, Sugarhouse or Millcreek 👍🏽 shoot me an email and we can discuss more details!
There is nothing in Utah or Salt Lake i would want to move there for. I have been through SLC a few times, i would not live there if anyone paid me. The first time i went through Utah, and stopped for gas, the man that sold gas, complained about living there.
As a southern European I am used to no shopping on Sunday but the alcohol part sounds dreadful. Something I associate with Arab countries.
My girlfriend and I are considering buying a house in slc this year.
Will be hard, the market is extremely hot.
Moved to Lehi and wow the people are so nice, even the government employees which blew my mind. Please please tell newbies not to squish the spiders here. I watched a ton of videos, read many articles / blogs and nobody said anything about spiders that explode baby spiders!!!! I don't know if it is specifically Traverse Mountain that has a lot of wolf spiders but as we were moving in we made the mistake of squishing a spider...only for the horror of it to explode a hundred babies.
Yeah that can happen lol. Gotta be careful this time of year. People are extremely nice here!
Downtown slc parking is a mess most of the time
Yes, but a lot better than other big cities!
That Salt Lake have strict alcohol laws like here in Sweden came as a surprise.
Yes, stricter than the rest of the US
Yes, well. Perhaps now you should talk about some of the things you do NOT like about Salt Lake City. For me, most of my complaints are minor, but they do add up. First, I don't like how addresses downtown are easy to find because Brigham Young set up the grid system . . . but impossible to find if you're trying to locate anything in, say, Olympus Cove. Second, I don't like our too restrictive liquor laws (though they've admittedly gotten better over the years). Third, I don't like the high real estate prices -- which remain high even though the market is rather stagnant right now (that ought to bring prices down, but it doesn't). Fourth, I dislike the rather too serious divide between the Mormon/Non-Mormon communities; it seems like we could do better to bridge that. Fifth, I dislike that our Legislature has made it a point of honor to invalidate citizen initiatives that were passed by a vote of the people. Sixth . . . I could go on and on, but in the spirit of the holiday season I shall desist.
Tons of pros and cons but thee biggest and most glaring con is from November to April expect some of the worst air quality I'm the world, a fish bowl of pollution you can see with your eyes...so bad it looks like fog
So many restrictive laws compared to the rest of the country. Such a shame because it’s a beautiful state.
Can you give a few examples? I don’t feel restricted at all, but curious on what you are referring to!
@@LivingInSaltLakeCity The alcohol laws are ridiculous. No recreational marijuana, no gambling. Absurd laws. It’s a beautiful state but the laws are so antiquated and dumb that I could never live there.
Will I live here in utah that’s why I searched this video😂
Can you please tell me about the Hispanic demographic in the city?
The Hispanic population in Salt Lake City alone is around 20%. They usually live in the north western side of Salt Lake which is the neighborhoods right by the airport.
There’s a decent Hispanic presence here.
The valley has a Hispanic population of about 19% of the overall population and the city has a Hispanic population of about 22% of the overall population.
Some parts of the valley have Hispanic population of about 30-40%.
@@lagopacifico5275 , those areas that have a Hispanic population within the 30 to 40% range would likely have to be West Valley City, Magna, & Kearns.
@@JonasMatthewBahta Yes, those are the places I’m referring to.
They are all from Michoacan
Negatives missed summers are very very hot. Weeks of 100 degrees plus will be the norm more often. Water shortages are real and the great salt lake is drying out and exposing a lot of hazardous particulates like arsenic which prevailing winds blow towards the catching mit of pollution that is the wasatch front. Air quality is generally bad and when fires burn in Oregon washington or California it can become overwhelming. In the winter inversions are terrible and can last over weeks. The city and surrounding areas are quickly becoming overpopulated and despite great road planning the population density is going to outpace capacity. I've never seen more crowded mountains and trails in my life. Hard to find solditide in nature unless you are willing to go way out of the way. Very crowded ski resorts and getting to them is brutal. Park city is the most overrated ski resort on planet earth. Lastly the church still has a ton of influence here and the laws of the state are archaic. If you like cities and don't mind crowds while also having an affinity for mountains this place is for you.
Gosh, I live in the valley can can be at a ski resort in 20 minutes. And it's SO easy to find empty hiking and biking trails. There are apps for that you know. It seems you spent all your time going to the tourist spots.
greeting from istanbul
Greetings!
Greetings from Gothham City!!
The only thing I hate about Salt Lake City is no one knows how to drive lol .
