Thank you for watching my guy. I’ve heard that theory before and honestly I really love the idea of that. Definitely gonna shout you out for bringing it to my attention again in PT 2.
Maybe the mission names are V subconsciously describing what he’s doing. They do appear on his (likely diegetic) heads-up display after all. When Johnny isnt there it’s very basic and bare bones descriptions, but Johnny is subconsciously relating every mission to a song, which changes V’s interpretations of his goals
Jackie writes the journal V sees in Act 1, which is why the quest names are pretty straightforward and basic like a to-do list for mercs. But once Johnny’s in V’s head, the quests take on more poetic names, often inspired by songs he loved. It fits his character since he's an artist and wants to connect the things he and V do with the deeper meaning behind those tracks.
i think you picking rap songs for the first act when you don’t have johnny in your head makes a lot of sense considering V is younger and might have a more diverse taste as opposed to johnny’s love for rock
In Phantom Liberty there's a mission 'shot by both sides' (the one with the journalist and militech). In polish the name is a reference to a polish singer, who btw plays Dante (the militech agent), he's called Dawid Posiadło and the song being referenced is "W dobra stronę". p.s - Dawid Podsiadło is the guy who made "Let You Down" for Edgerunners and phantom liberty's credits music
@@IamBored22 oh, so it is, thanks. Also, Dawid sang more then one song for Edgerunners, because in the scene when David and Lucy stands on the roof looking at the rocket launching to the moon, in the background is playing song ,,Little Stranger" which is his old song ,,Nieznajomy" from 2013, but in english

Thank you. Choosing the songs and making sure they actually fit was probably the easiest part of this honestly. Glad to know you agreed with them and I have to agree with you. I enjoy the music now but the 70s-90s are unmatched.
As soon as you explained the premise of the video, Psycho Killer and the mission The Killing Moon from PL immediately came to mind, but I never thought that all the missions were song names!!
my favorite “side” quest (also just happen to be one of my favorite songs) is called “Both Sides, Now” its such a beautiful song that relates heavily to the mission due to the themes of depression and considering what happens in that mission
This is my jam. I always search gigs on the wiki to see if the trivia section acknowledges the song titles. I will 100% be here for each part of this little analysis series. My mates must have been sick to death of me messaging and nerding out over all these songs I recognised. Just seeing the titles had songs stuck in my head for days.
And as a sidenote I love how bombastic and loud music is in game when you engage against the gangs and when it plays during missions, something other modern games seems to mess it up and make music very low in the mix.
Even darker music, Godspeed you! Black emperor has a movie soundtrack feel to their music, chaotic, dystopian, depressive sometimes, there’s a lot of bands that fit Cyberpunk world, more

Missed the intro missions for the other lifepaths (Corpo & Nomad). Nomads quest is just called "The Nomad" but Corpo is called "The Corpo-rat" and they both have distinct events from Streetkid. For Corpo I'd say "Big Shot" by Billy Joel fits well and for Nomad "Don't bring me down" by Electric Light Orchestra feels right to me.
Whats even more interesting that in a Polish Version of CP2077 the names of the songs are different, for example the name of the side mission 'Pisces' is changed to 'Tysiące twarzy, setki miraży' which is a song by a Polish band Maanam
Bratva also works wonderfully for a loud escape from the heist, the lyrics reflecting amazingly on Jackie. Stating that we will all die eventually, so die being yourself to the end, and leaving with a smile.
In the spanish version they translate the mission titles with songs from there and somehow it still fits a lot. To be fair the whole localization of this game in spanish is amazing, even mixing spanish and latin american voice actors giving it a very unique flavor
