RevZilla You're very good and to the point! Very good to watch, very good explanations. Very easy to understand. You may feel you repeat yourself a lot, but it is necessary for the unexperienced person. You make it easier for the unexperienced, good job!
You might think about putting a drop of blue loctite on the adaptor bolts so you don't end up sucking a loose screw into you motor .s&s recommends this when installing a backing plate
Have 2008 night train . Can I change the original air breather to a spike or a double spike and the bike being fuel injection does anything else have to be done ?
Also my bike keeps shutting off at stop signs or lights when in down shift into first. The. O have to start it up again. Oy does this when its starts to get hot idles very low
What size socket did you use to take off the banjo bolts? I know I need a deeper one for my 2017 Iron 883 and I think it's a 16mm, but I can't get my not-so-deep socket in there to find out.
Hope this isn’t a stupid question, but I switched the air filter and the first time I attempted to turn it on it struggled a little bit. Is that normal or will it continue to happen
Hey man, great video and pretty informative. I have a 2011 street glide 103, i have a set of slip on rinehart exhaust on her right now, i am looking forward to get the rinehart air cleaner soon, and I don’t know what kind of fuel tuning should I get, what is your recommendation!?. My goal is to complete the stage 1 to gain a few HP if possible. Thank you in advance.
K&N filters are awesome XD you just wash them out, let them dry (like dry dry not other is still a little bit of water in it) and that you use the K&N air filter oil on it and you have a new filter :D that looks nicer performs better and will cost you less in the end ; )
Great video! I have the same exact motorcycle same year and color. What did you guys put on the denim black? It looks like it has a little more gloss than mine. Thanks
do you need a computer to tell you what size jets you'll need to balance things out with the new air filter and cleaner? or will the air filter/cleaner come with a recommendation on what size jets should be used with that particular filter/cleaner? basically can I do this on my own?
No, you don't need a computer. Carb tuning is a lot of trial and error, so it's best to buy a handful of jets and go from there. If you give us the bike, year, specific carb, your location/elevation, and all modifications, we might be able to get you close. -DrewZilla
I have a "14" HD Softail Slim, I just put V&H Short shots on it. Really liking how the S&S looks to keep it old school looking. If I do get the S&S Super, can I just drive to my local dealer and have them do the tune up work or do I just need to get a fuel pack? Note: All I did was throw the pipes on thus far. Bike is bone stock except for the pipes. Thanks guys
+Erich Collins It will likely be cheaper to get the FuelPak 3 and install it and an air cleaner yourself than to pay the Harley Dealer to do so. Plus, you'll be able to easily tune the bike if you make any other future changes. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/vance-hines-fuelpak-fp3-autotuner-for-harley-2011-2016
So recently I broke my gsxr 600 k7 bike apart for a new paint job and stator regulator (oem parts) change. I have change almost everything to new in the bike since I'm the second owner and don't want to run into problems. Recently after putting my bike together iam experiencing electrical issues. the bike will start and run good but soonest I turn it off it won't turn back on until hours later.. any tips ??? I am totally new to the bike world everything I learn it's from the manual and your channel. my nearest bike shop charges $200 to check plus what ever needs to be change...
That's a tough one, which I don't think we can diagnose via UA-cam. Instead, I recommend posing your question on any of the GSXR forums, perhaps a forum for racers, as racers are more likely to have had to fix their bikes. -DrewZilla
It's mostly aesthetics, but an air cleaner with a larger filter element/more surface area can increase flow more than one designed to fit a stock cover. -DrewZilla
I have a 16 harley 48 and just added vance and Hines short shots and I wanted to know if I can add a k&n filter so I can keep my stock housing will that work thanks
Yes, you can add a K&N filter under your stock air cleaner cover. See the link below for the correct air filter. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/kn-air-filter-for-harley-sportster-2012-2018
Great video 👍I would like to know your suggestion regarding whether I should go for replacing the stock air filter with K&N filter or with full air assembly , I would keep my stock exhaust and use FP3 for tuning which I already have.
Great Tutorials. Really find them helpful. I am installing a Kuryakyn air filter on my Harley twin cam. Blackline. To compliment the Paughco Up sweep bell tip pipes I also just installed. Dealer is doing that one. I am a one to two beard guy at best. They are talking powder commander and dyno testing. I will look for anything you have out there on power commander installment and use etc.
+Josh Brolin Possibly. You're certainly increasing airflow without the slip-ons, so you're likely running even leaner than the bike came from the factory. That's not the best for good engine life. Lemmy's written some great Moto 101 articles on exhausts and fuel management, so I definitely recommend you take a look! -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/common-tread/motorcycle-exhaust-101 *www.revzilla.com/common-tread/fuel-management-101
I am looking for a video on how to replace my stock air filter with a K&N air filter on my 2006 Dyna Low Rider, would you happen to have something. Thank you.
If you were just doing the slip-on exhaust, you wouldn't need to re-tune. With the air filter as well, you're increasing air flow enough that you'll probably want to increase the fueling with a Fuelpak. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/vance-hines-fuelpak-fp3-autotuner-for-harley-2011-2018
The filter itself may be interchangeable in some years when talking about stock air cleaners, but the backing plate and all mounting components are not. -Zack
I have 2013 fatboy, and it comes with sensor on the stock air intake, so if I decide to change the stock one then I have to disconnect the sensor then the result will be check engine light will switch on, so how can I fix this issue?
+Faisal Al-Eidan If you're referring to the MAP sensor, that should be on the intake, not the air cleaner itself, so changing the air cleaner should not affect that sensor. -DrewZilla
Hi Lemmy, just watching you whizz off those breather bolts, unfortunately attempted the same job on my 2013 Breakout today and could only remove one of them, the other one is rounded off. Any suggestions for the best way of removing a stubborn breather bolt that seems to be loctited and mega tight? Keep up the good work man!
+Barbara Palmer Lemmy recommends welding a piece of stock onto the bolt. That should melt the thread locker and provide leverage to twist the bolt. If you don't have a welder or don't know a weldor, perhaps you can cut a notch in the bolt head and use a flat head bit with a socket or breaker bar. -DrewZilla
Hey, love your presentation of the product and procedures. i have a question about how to make custom adjustments for if the throat of the air breathers don't' fit. I tried a body hammer to slowly tap it into shape and it began to ovalize it, which was expected so i stopped after the smallest amount. I even did a cross section hammer style as if building a spoke set up wheel thinking it would work. Suggestions?
In the second half of the video, Lemmy installs an S&S Teardrop Air Cleaner Kit, and yes it fits a 2010 Softail Fat Boy. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/ss-teardrop-air-cleaner-kit-for-harley-efi-big-twin-2001-2017
Revzilla if I put a Vance and hines big radius exhaust on my 06 Dyna custom .am I ok w my stock intake with a k&n air filter? I have a tuner installed already
Generally speaking, yes. Stock bikes tend to run lean, and installing a free-flowing air filter and a set of pipes tends to make bikes run even leaner. Fuel tuning gets the fueling back up to the correct air-fuel ratio. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/common-tread/fuel-management-101
Laughed when i heard "not that much money for an airfilter" Because most are 350-500, a decent chunk of change if i might say. But i had a question. If I get the Fuelpak FP3 and use it for my Iron, and lets say i eventually get a new set of pipes and use it for that. Can i use the FP3 to tune it for a new air cleaner as well? Or do i need to get that other expensive Fuel management system as well? WHOOPS never mind that... Just noticed that the FP3 was on the fuel management section. Though still, will i be able to Select the Air cleaner modification, like you do the pipes, in the app.
+Ace00731 Yes, you just go into the app and select the air cleaner when you add an air cleaner, put it in auto-tune mode, go out for a ride, accept the changes, and you're good to go again. Every time you make a change, you just auto-tune it again. Easy. -DrewZilla
If your filter gets too wet, water will be drawn into the intake and into the engine, which is definitely not good. If you have an exposed air filter and ride in the rain, you need to use an appropriate rain sock. Rain socks are available to fit most air filter models. -DrewZilla

I have the same year bike and the vacuum nipple behind the air intake has nothing on it ,seems to run fine if I put my finger on it, it runs like shit
