2:37:20 One of the most fun runs I ever did in Oblivion was when I pushed hard on agility and acrobatics and completed Oblivion gates by just running and jumping past all the enemies to grab the sigil stones. It was very easy and the enchantments you get from the sigil stones are generally pretty good. Not sure why that isn't a more common strategy for dealing with them.
The only game I know off the top of my head that does difficulty very well is Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous (and Kingmaker to a lesser extent) It lets you just fiddle and pick with everything, for example the slider that simply gives enemies stat multipliers is different from the slider that gives you more enemies, and aside from that you even have an option for the enemies to use different tactics (so basically be smarter and have access to better buff spells). You can choose to play turn based or real time combat really everything can be changed to suit your needs with some pretty good presets. I have plenty of issues with the game and I don't think it is something Jake would like (though I have been wrong on that before) but the way it handles difficulty is really really good in my opinion.
This is easily the worst TES game imo. Although it does have soul and character, it's that of a 8 year old child. That's the only way to explain most of the writing
Poor Jake and Morrowind trauma. I enjoyed it due to how stupid it gets. Found fast boots and 24h levitation buff. Superman flying everywhere with insane speed without even bugs or exploits
I remember when this came out. Gothic 3 and Oblivion both came out nearly at the same time and were both a disappointment compared to their predecessors.
This generation of Bethesda games absolutely require basic modding. Don't skim on it Jake. You have the famous micro Stutting issue. There are a series of performance mods and unofficial patches always on these games.
ima be real, hearing a grown ass man say "my sword was in the chest i hit" is hilarious one day you will grow up and enjoy games until then enjoy games
I think I should hate this game. The pool noodle combat has to be the worst in the series. The level scaling, the dumbing down of spell making (with its consequent removal in skyrim), gamepad ui, ugly as sin NPCs, tiny samey dungeons. The lockpicking minigame... But I do like it. I like the music, I like the environments. And it has some of the best quests in the series. Maybe it's just nostalgia. It's good in its own unique way.
I think scaling could be made in a better way. Like your action of clearing a dungeon made surrounding area more dangerous due to lack of natural enemies. Small micro events happening in locations with time with written note, so you get some context why it is harder. Maybe you can pay guild to get some info about difficulty of area or risk going into danger. Or you can use your influence/money in guilds to slow down scaling by sending other members.
First run of a TES game? You sure spread enough hate and vitriol about Bethesda to make it seem otherwise... I suppose riding the bandwagon can be profitable!
Todd claims another one.
I will never fall for his lies
@@DDRJake "It just works"
I don't thinks this one will end well but I'm looking forward to it regardless and hoping to be proven wrong.
0:23 sacrilegious as always
Morrowind is pretty slow and Skyrim gets stale quick
About morrowind? Yes.
About Skyrim? No.

Hogwarts Banker... I nearly spat out my drink... phhhh haaaa....
This is by far my most memorable and favourite game intro I have experienced in my 40 years of playing video games.
The game's okay too I guess.

Oh GOD this will be painfull
Hey, he knows the channel motto.
It already is
Best elders scrolls game (though morrowind is close), looking forward to this
Looking forward to the “brilliant” leveling system of Oblivion
This is going to be amazing to watch. The Shivering Isles is one of the best dlcs I've ever played so I hope that you'll do that one at least.
Finally, the gateway drug to Morrowind. Soon, Jake, soon....
For a moment your character looked like Mr. Wonderful.
Memory protocols loaded. Initiate nostalgia overdrive!

Shout out to Venkos for playing too much lol 9:25
Depending on the difficulty setting this could be great fun to watch, or torture knowing the Oblivion leveling system
hmm the sped up gameplay seems related to the framerate, as it worsens when in instanced areas with not a lot going on. you mentioned it at 1:40:35
why is jake playing on fast forward mode?
The urge to skip to Jake’s character creation, the member berries melting my brain for letting the initial sequence to finish
The only good TES game with soul and character; a real personality this game has. Thanks for giving it a run.
Morrowind and daggerfall are better

Love this, but be gentle! This was the first game i played on the first good(ish) computer we had in the house. Blew my wee mind.
Hell yeah
jake, I'm very happy you're turning into a variety streamer, but when is the next 7dtd longplay? I'm not addicted, but I NEED it. Thanks

This is gonna be good

Definitely going to be a Punishlongplay (it's not just a western rpg, but an elder scrolls one i'm sorry) but i'll be entertained regardless
Remember that one time jake pandered to the algorithm?
Me neither
Oh yes
Longplay Punishment? iirc last one was oni?
Quite intruged that jake dosnt run skyblivion instead 🤔
Should Have played Morrowind it's the Best Elder Scrolls Game.
Game seems to be running a little fast, do you end up fixing that or are we just going to suffer through it?
Yeeeeeees! Nice :)

What the hell
I’m of the minority that thinks Skyrim was better than Oblivion
