The bit round 7:18 ish was one of those magic moments, for someone watching a blacksmith, and it's just "how did that happen?!?!?" That bend was awesome! 😊👍👍👍👍👍👍
Year 5-4and 3 done now to start year 2 thank you for all the work you are doing
Thanks for the name drop, Bro!
Nicely done!!
Thank you so much for sharing!! I really appreciate that you guys put all of this it there for us newbs!!!!
You're very welcome!
"don't do math on camera" Truer words were never spoken.
You both mention each other a lot so I don't feel bad about mentioning his channel on yours. I got to say how fun it is to watch both you and John at black bear do these Christmas ideas. All these little projects have a lot of technique packed into a small package. And I don't think I've ever realized how important a slack tank is, as a tool, in shaping your work. These are all fantastic learning videos and I can't wait to put them into practice at my buddy's anvil. (Anvils) he's an anvil hoarder. Thanks Roy.
Very good job Roy I got to rewatch this video and it was a lot clearer to me Yahoo you are blessed I am too
Please never quit blacksmithing, cause your singing us lacking, lol.
Don't worry tho, your singing is better then mine.
Merry Christmas
Great job well done ,I like using a peice of pipe about a 1/4" long welded to a round plate welded to the base so even if you pull it out of the jar and tilt it it wont fall off
wow, never been 1st view before! lol loving these "selling blacksmith projects" videos Roy!
Yup, you were first :)
I love the ending of this video 😊
Thought y'all would like that :)
Thanks for doing the mason jar candle holder. I saw it in your slideshow, and I think it's a really clever idea.
Your welcome!
Cool! Thanks Roy! God Bless you both!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching :)
Supper job great idea good instruction and a great way to share the skills..
Good idea!
Hey Roy! I've been making these for a little while now and I've found better success from a production standpoint using a flat pad for the candle and folding the corners in at my small vice and using a roofing nail as my rivet. The head is very thin and flat, and much easier to produce a small domed rivet head on the bottom with the added benefit of holding the candle very securely to the pad sitting flat on the bottom and the corners preventing it from sliding in any direction
Thank you for showing us simply stuff to sell for is that's just starting. Old Route2 Blacksmithing Custom HandMade Knives but my page in another name. "Chad"
Hey Roy, thinking about a similar project to this one, but of course will give you a shout out on it, you continue to be a great inspiration for me.
Very cool idea Roy.. Thank You!!!
Between you and Bear, there is no reason to not have Awesome gift ideas. I love UA-cam 👍
Darn straight! :-)
Cool project. I'll have to make my mom a couple. 👍👍
I bet she'd love that. If you're on instagram, tag us with your completed projects (after Christmas of course!) ~Jessica
Roy boys, really? Love your videos.
Looking for you 2 at Quad State but didn't get to meet up.
Thanks nice project
Roy 11\2" is 40mm in metric, closer to 38 more than likely. we tend to round things off here in Australia.
Someday we'll teach you metric, Roy. LOL!
I recently started following you, I enjoy what I have seen so far, I have two questions with the candle holder. First one is how much longer is your rivet in regards the the total material thickness and secondly could you have heated just the rivet up slightly to help it form and not bother the other pieces ? I am just starting to acquire tools to start blacksmithing, so I am trying to learn as much as I can.
curious creation, but you forgot the candle putter outer thingy aka a douter or a snuffer, well a snuffer was actually the wick trimmer shears before the self triming wicks were around fun fact of the day,
though I suppose its much more fun to just pick it up and blow it out with a razzberry sound or send the kids in to do it, they seem to like blowing candles out, I know I did heh
37 1/2 mm
Just stick with the imperial measure and all will be good. I am Canadian (metric) and I still use imperial over metric...all the time!
Why did you use green tape on your hammers?
So I know which tools are mine when I travel.
Definitely don't want whopper dopper
Hey Roy great job! And other great idea! Thank you for all your efforts once again. A little constructive criticism if you're okay with it, try to get a prop up light or something to shine on your Anvil while you're working your videos are kinda dark. Once again thumbs up and thanks for the video! Have a Merry Christmas sir
Hope folks notice he doesn't use his gloved hand to hammer with,I have seen hammers fly across the shop from men hammering with a gloved hand...
no math on camera, get some sleep boss. cheers
Lol, never enough sleep to go around.
