I had 4 in a 6th order on 2 cab4500s and 200ah of lithium. They beat. Was doing 157.3db at 38hz. Played 20hz to 60hz loud. Great subs for the price. I had over 2k running to each and they took it no problem.

Ran some on a Sundown sfb8k for over 2 years and still looking brand new, just took them out to try out some other things but they are going back in one day 🤙 nice vid!
That sfb 8k looks like a great amp! I'm running a t8000.1 trinity right now, but idk if it's capable of doing even close to rated, seems barely louder than the smart 3 bass I had on the subs before
So besides the SQL, are these still the type of subs that will shake houses in a neighborhood and you can hear them really far away with the right box and amp?
How does vxf 12 sound compared to sundown xv2 12? I dont like the sound of the sundown, has the deep bass on rebassed music but on normal music just sounds hollowed out
The VXF sounds completely different than the sundown x. The VXF is a more accurate punchy subwoofer. It will have more punch and slap I kick drums. They hit the lows very good but since lower excursion than the sundown X they don’t have as much air movement. Although I actually think the X if used the right box is a good sounding subwoofer for an air pump , high excursion type subwoofer it’s bass notes are so smooth that it lacks definition o. Tight bass compared to the vxf. But that’s where the x shines. It has no punch or slap so in bass music is flexes like crazy and sounds super smooth. So both have there places.
@HiFi Vector yes i think the x12 v2 is awesome on the low end, but i guess im used to to a normal sounding sub. My X is in a 2.5 cubic foot birch stained box tuned to 34hz.
They sound better in a sealed box got the same VXF and Smart 3k you will be more happy with the older rock bass or classical, you will lose on the low end but i got an epicenter i turn on if i need to feel it
Honestly the only complaint I have with the VXF line is that the fs is pretty high for a 15, but yanno what? I had an 18" evl in one of Skar's prefabs in the trunk of a Vic, and that thing smashed the low lows. The 18" evl has an fs of 31.2, completely ludicrous for an 18, but it would seriously shake your eyeballs down around 26 hz and under. Gotta love cabin gain. Also I just checked skar's site for the VXF t/s parameters and how in the world is the 15" VXF UNDER $300 rn??? Skar has lost it, that's alot of driver for less than $300!
@@elijahdossett3528 uh because it is? Grant it, it's on the low end for an SPL driver, but the majority of musical 15" drivers have an fs in the upper to mid 20's with 18's having an fs in the lower 20's or lower. Of course this does not apply to pro-audio drivers. We in the car audio hobby however are an odd bunch and want the best of both worlds hence the existence of "SQL" drivers, which is what I would say the VXF is.. 31.4 hz is an fs that I would find acceptable for a 12" driver. fs doesn't dictate everything, like all T/S parameters it's part of the trade-off of driver performance and efficiency. A 15" driver with an fs that high is going to need a much larger enclosure to be able to dig down into the mid and lower 20's than one with a more sensible fs of say 28 or 27. It's sacrificing part of the advantage that it's sd gives it for more SPL.
@@buddykillerthe fs of that sub negates everything you just said. Fs DOES NOT determine musicality, which is proven by how well this sub plays. Just like I build enclosures for the zvx 15. I have a customer with 3 zvx 15s in a 11.1 cube net enclosure tuned to 31hz that plays down to 18hz with authority and still meters a 153 @ 3,015 watts clamped. It’s all in the enclosure. Come on man. I have 600+ hand drawn designs to my name. 200+ of those are for skar builds.
@@buddykiller you try to nerd out, I can be an absolute nerd as well but when you get to the basics the fs of this sub for most 15” woofers on the market is lower than average.
@@elijahdossett3528 I don't try to nerd out, I live here full time :P You're misunderstanding me. That's why I said fs doesn't dictate everything, and that when you consider the driver's size in relation to it's fs it falls squarely into the SQL category. Did you read what I said about the 18" evl I owned? We agree on just about every level except what musicality means and how a driver's fs factors into that. You've got 3k pushing 3 15's, I don't doubt that can hit 18 hz with authority, but if your enclosure is tuned to 31 hz then 1) cabin gain is definitely factoring into that and 2) I promise it's either significantly louder or cleaner playing 30's compared to 18 hz if not both. Have you checked the waveform? I've never personally built or modeled for ZVX drivers and how well you can tune under fs and how far under fs you can tune depends entirely on the driver's characteristics. Unfortunately my real life experience is limited due to budgetary, location, and psychological restraints, but I model and design enclosures all the time for fun. I envy you, I LOVE car audio and would kill to do it professionally but it just isn't in the cards for me. That way you wouldn't have to push the amplifier. Of course assuming you have enough sense to not go ego Bassing when you pull up on someone.😵💫 Also they would do better in a 7cuft box tuned to 30-32hz. I must say the 18 sounds amazing and the box is tuned to 27 which is an eye opener. It shakes the walls in my house. Haven't tried it in a car yet. Should be violent
The vxf hit low lows a lot better, have more excursion. The R3 is tighter and a little more musically accurate. But the price diff is huge between them.
