I'm running 4 evl 12 's in a ported box. and I can tell you from experience they need a few months of hard playing to break in. But they sound great straight out of the box. Give the speaker some time to break in and your low-frequency SPL will go up a bit.
I have evl 15 and it definitely needs workin time to sound as good as it can. It blew me away how much better it sounded and how much more flex I have after 20 hrs of accumulated play.
did it stink at all during the break in? i got the single 12" evl bundle that skar sells and just hooked it up over the weekend and this thing stinks. its on the amp that came in the bundle the rp1500d. I wouldn't think that amp would be frying the voice coil or anything.

I like the ported enclosue package Skar does. I wish more companies would do this. Offer their sub or dual subs with a quality ported box built to spec for that specific woofer.

So basically they covered his head unit and his dash speakers everything else he lost😡 I would double check my insurance coverage if I was you. I'd hate for you to be paying for something they won't even cover.
FS has nothing to do with how low a sub will play, thats just its free air resonance. Everything has a resonant frequency and it will completely change depending on enclosure/tuning and loading of the sub...
The idea of a large dust cap is more surface area for the sub that is why u see some super deep subs in some applications but it has been proven it only uses the surface of the cone basically flat
A dust cap, also aids in cooling. Utilizing a larger diameter cap, also helps with moving more air, in and out of the gap, and through the pole and back plate venting. The cap does more then keeping debris out of the gap, it creates positive and negative air flow... essentially a pump.
I have 2 of these in a box tuned at 32 hz. Running on a Skar RP2000D at 2500rms. I've ran them for hours with no problem hitting 146dbs. SKAR all the way! PS. Box design and volume is critical to your output as well as gains and wiring etc. This guy may wanna double check his setup

I own 2 Fi Audio Xv3 subs being ran on a Sundown SAE 2k and they are beasts!! I beat the hell out of them and they never ever smell. Best I've done on the meter is a 146.4. Which isn't bad from the trunk of a 2011 Honda Accord on a 2k wired @1ohm probably only putting out around 1200 watts give or take after rise. I originally had two Sundown SAs but they would get hot and start stinking. The Fi Xv3s don't even get warm and don't smell at all even at full tilt

Bought an EVL 15 . Definitely getting a ZVX . EVL has potential but would definitely need a custom box. Might as well buy the ZVX if you get a box. 2 EVLs = 1 ZVX .

And it’s crazy how much more power that amp can do you might be looking at 3500 w the right voltage !!! I’m running 2 15s in my 14 Sentra lmaooo such a family car I know. But I have a skar EVL in a ported box in my trunk on a sonido 2k and a reconed Memphis mojo on kicker Kx 2400.1. That’s in my back seat in a ported box too. Some soundstream tweeters and kicker 6.5s in the front w skar 6.9s in the rear deck alpine power pack behind the head unit for my mids and highs. I love my setup so much I’ll make a vid soon!
For less money you could do a skar 2000 that does solid 2,400 rms even at 13 volts actually it was doing almost 2400 at 12.6 volts but you will need at least a decent car audio battery in trunk dedicated to sub amp and can Also run a 4 channel amp but put in a relay on power wire coming from stock batt so it can feed power to second battery but can't get power from trunk batt butt the skar 2000 is 229 does well over rated power stable down to 1ohm down side it only is 1 ohm stable n dampening factor is only 200. Better option the PPI black ice 7000D it's stable at .5 ohms and u definitely will need at least a good secondary batt run at least 1 run of ofc ought guage I recommend 2 runs and do not use any of that cca garbage I've seen a 20% difference in out put from same length of cca compared to real ofc pure copper I recommend certified basshead for the SAME OFC COPPER ought guage from a local shop they charged almost 7$ per ft for kicker ofc @ down4sound I paid about 3.50 a ft for pure ofc ought guage then I recommend 2power.ans 2 ought guage for the PPI u will need a 2 to 1 adapt kit tool Maker makes them cause the PPI will draw about 400 amps full tilt at .5 ohms IT DYNOED.at a tad over 3,700 set @ to clipping and Dynamic test showed it's capable of 4+k rms and you can get them new for 249-269 also dampening factor is 500. Plus they are strappable so 2@1 ohm you get about 8krms for about 500 bucks where else can u get that quality for that price a DC 7500 is over 2k$ js
James Lewis personally I dislike rp series skar amps unless it’s the 3 or 4K the skv2 is where it’s at for skar but that ppi that thing is a beast I can vouch for that I saw one one offer up had a clip light nice rcas just an elite amp overall... however I think the true budget king rn is wolfram Amps
I have the skar 15" 1500rms 3000 peak and hits 28hz and hits all the highs but it was hard finding the right box for it to hit all them sounds, best sub I've ever owned by far you can send power through these and not hurt them
So once you got the right box you were able to get highs and lows??? As of now it seems I have only lows lol. But I have a box from Concept Enclosures on the way. 2.3 cubic ft. 4 X 12 Aeroport.
trunkbangking (if I’m not mistaken) better soft parts mean more power handling. A smaller motor may not matter a whole lot when better soft parts are in play
I’ve got two ZVX 18s currently running on around 700 watts. Breaking a 140 easily, but haven’t metered them yet. The motor is *massive af* and very good soft parts.
Motor size doesn't mean anything, actually. It's the efficiency, and how well the motor is designed, and so forth. The carbon in the steel, the ferrite quality, the effective motor force(BL)..the cooling capabilities and so on.
Good vid! And with just 1 12 inch sub you can only shake so much stuff in your car and once a rear view mirror falls of it will keep falling off, I use gorilla glue epoxy to keep my mirror on but when I upgrade my system I can tell if I got more bass If the mirror falls off:) rock on braH!
I've had these, with RP series amp to power it, blew both up once, them melted second one with SKv2 amp. Super friendly budget sub, just not for banging like sundown subs can handle
Definitely was doing something very very wrong 🤣🤣🤣 I have the evl 15 and 18 both in custom boxes I’ve had the 15 for years now on a smart 3k and it’s handled it no problem the sa v2 I tried bottomed out on the same power 🤷♂️
And they overheat in about 25 or 30 minutes. I had an XTR 2500 that would do 3.5K on voltage over 14 but they don't have any surface area for cooling. I upgraded to an SKv2 3500.1 which does the same power at the same voltage for twice the money. But it's also twice the size and three times the weight. It doesn't shut down EVER.

Well at least you got the video of you voiding your warranty. That is why proper break in is important. Not what some "not the people who are engineers " says on youtube.
I've only heard 2 10s, I was impressed, I'm running a 10in aero port with 4 DD615s the vids are raw, but I'm hairtricking on low wattage, 600rms subs, and hit 150db, we'll see what happens when I finish the build, and get a new amp....
Hey Parker, I love the videos. I am having a tough time deciding between the Skar EVL 12 and the Deaf Bonce SA272. I know you have reviewed both, but can you tell me which one you like better and why? The Skar has more xmax and a bigger VC, but the DB is similar, but rated higher rms. I need 3 12s so is the DB worth the extra $70 per sub? Thats an additional $210 for me since I need 3. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.
I would definitely run with scar from watching Parker‘s videos he doesn’t flat out say it but I don’t think he is a fan at all of scar audio that is just my opinion though I am a huge fan of scar but still love Parker‘s videos even though I don’t think he is a fan of scar at all not just that and all you’re saving over $210 you could buy an extra skirt sub for that price LOL my bed mat scar sub for that price
I have a Evl 12 d2 and wired to 1 ohm on my rp 1500.1. I need to get a bigger amp. I have not clamped it and not sure exactly how many watts the amp is pushing out. I have not metered it, but I am impressed with skar. I want to get the rp 3500 and get two evl d4. Now, unfortunately my box at the moment is a Qbomb ported. I think I would get better performance on a custom box but don’t have the tools or know how to make one.

I have two evl 15s and I play like the mid 20 Hertz daily mines dont smell and haven't had any problems with them and Im running them on a taramps md 8000.1 in a coustom tuned box no clipping and I beat the hell out of them daily 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️

I just acquired an SA-15. Used of course but looks solid still. Ohms out and coil looks good. Im really , really curious to see how it performs and what it can really handle.... I have a T1000.1bd that will be powering it. So far I've blown apart a T1 15 and an 06 model CVX 15... Hoping the Sundown can handle it better than those did....

They have to be in a box custom made for them though with the exact right airspace to hit like they're supposed to. The box I had to begin with was too small and it was smothering them. it's amazing the difference it made when I had a custom box made for them
Depends on what you’re looking for. I’d say for the price they are better than Sundown but if you looking for really extreme comp subs then sundowns higher end stuff is insane
@@omarrolle7950 You'll have to keep in mind that there are a lot of different factors when it come to "loudness." Different vehicles, different size/type of boxes, power, freq, etc. The best way to find out is test, test, test. I went through Kicker and Sundown throughout different setup over the years and both of them are great. Both do have pros and cons. Soon I'm going to try Skar for the first time and I'm excited to try something different. But yeah, as I've stated before, it's all depend on factors.

Exodia I’ll definitely upgrade the amp later, only reason I’m using that amp to start with is because Skar audio sells a kit that comes with everything. Subs, amp, etc. just easiest to buy that way In the beginning. And I’ll have a spare amp for later.
I love whatever mic you are using, it has very minimal clipping and distortion from the bass unlike everyone else.

I just bought 2 EVL-65's, even on those the spider is SO tight that it feels almost solid. They're going to take a while to break in.

Build a 6th order and tune one port to like 25 then the other to 45-50

Any speaker will play any frequency you put to it. the frequency response number doesn't matter for subs really

why not try and get a SD 5k instead 5k with enough voltage etc. would be more then enough for parker?

Motor size doesn't mean anything, actually. It's the efficiency, and how well the motor is designed, and so forth. The carbon in the steel, the ferrite quality, the effective motor force(BL)..the cooling capabilities and so on.

Good vid! And with just 1 12 inch sub you can only shake so much stuff in your car and once a rear view mirror falls of it will keep falling off, I use gorilla glue epoxy to keep my mirror on but when I upgrade my system I can tell if I got more bass If the mirror falls off:) rock on braH!
I have the Skar bass package 2 10's in a box. Once they broke in, my whole car would wave. I'm only pushing 350 watts on a Skar mono block amp!

I own an evl 18 on an rp 2k. If your running stock alt run a 3rd battery and that amp and sub will really come to life...
Oh and don't forget run it at 1 ohm with gains set prop that sub easily handles 2k musicaly all day when set right

The evl line is built for the rp amp line in my opinion
Stronger dust cap and bigger circumference meant it won't flex and I'll have a thighter hitting bass. bigger magnet doesn't mean better sub.

I've had these, with RP series amp to power it, blew both up once, them melted second one with SKv2 amp. Super friendly budget sub, just not for banging like sundown subs can handle

And they overheat in about 25 or 30 minutes. I had an XTR 2500 that would do 3.5K
on voltage over 14 but they don't have any surface area for cooling. I upgraded to an
SKv2 3500.1 which does the same power at the same voltage for twice the money.
But it's also twice the size and three times the weight. It doesn't shut down EVER.

That would favor whichever sub matches your single enclosure idea and wouldn't represent them fairly

I've only heard 2 10s, I was impressed, I'm running a 10in aero port with 4 DD615s the vids are raw, but I'm hairtricking on low wattage, 600rms subs, and hit 150db, we'll see what happens when I finish the build, and get a new amp....
Hey Parker, I love the videos. I am having a tough time deciding between the Skar EVL 12 and the Deaf Bonce SA272. I know you have reviewed both, but can you tell me which one you like better and why? The Skar has more xmax and a bigger VC, but the DB is similar, but rated higher rms. I need 3 12s so is the DB worth the extra $70 per sub? Thats an additional $210 for me since I need 3. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.
I would definitely run with scar from watching Parker‘s videos he doesn’t flat out say it but I don’t think he is a fan at all of scar audio that is just my opinion though I am a huge fan of scar but still love Parker‘s videos even though I don’t think he is a fan of scar at all not just that and all you’re saving over $210 you could buy an extra skirt sub for that price LOL my bed mat scar sub for that price

I have a Evl 12 d2 and wired to 1 ohm on my rp 1500.1. I need to get a bigger amp. I have not clamped it and not sure exactly how many watts the amp is pushing out. I have not metered it, but I am impressed with skar. I want to get the rp 3500 and get two evl d4. Now, unfortunately my box at the moment is a Qbomb ported. I think I would get better performance on a custom box but don’t have the tools or know how to make one.
Did it smell bad at all? My evl 18 stunk the whole time I owned it. Traded it off for a Wolfram silver. Best sub I've had yet

I have a buddy that has 6 of the evl 12's on 2 3500.1 strapped. Strapped the 3500 is 7600 watts rms in a series 6th order hits lows

I have two evl 15s and I play like the mid 20 Hertz daily mines dont smell and haven't had any problems with them and Im running them on a taramps md 8000.1 in a coustom tuned box no clipping and I beat the hell out of them daily 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️

You need to do an RMS test with the Skar EVL
yeah, 40 Hz is the sweet spot on that setup. I prefer sundown the lows are better on the sundowns for some reason.

I just acquired an SA-15. Used of course but looks solid still. Ohms out and coil looks good. Im really , really curious to see how it performs and what it can really handle.... I have a T1000.1bd that will be powering it. So far I've blown apart a T1 15 and an 06 model CVX 15... Hoping the Sundown can handle it better than those did....

@@redbrown5695 hell yeah my two in my Lexus ES350 are tearing my car apart. I've got roof flex, door flex, and trunk flex. They have to be in a box custom made for them though with the exact right airspace to hit like they're supposed to. The box I had to begin with was too small and it was smothering them. it's amazing the difference it made when I had a custom box made for them

Depends on what you’re looking for. I’d say for the price they are better than Sundown but if you looking for really extreme comp subs then sundowns higher end stuff is insane

@@omarrolle7950 You'll have to keep in mind that there are a lot of different factors when it come to "loudness." Different vehicles, different size/type of boxes, power, freq, etc. The best way to find out is test, test, test. I went through Kicker and Sundown throughout different setup over the years and both of them are great. Both do have pros and cons. Soon I'm going to try Skar for the first time and I'm excited to try something different. But yeah, as I've stated before, it's all depend on factors.

I have the same scar 15 but I'm running a orion 2,500 watt and I can't keep nothing together it's flexes everything in my suv I have to replace the screws in it like every other 2 weeks bc the sub breaks them in half

Exodia I’ll definitely upgrade the amp later, only reason I’m using that amp to start with is because Skar audio sells a kit that comes with everything. Subs, amp, etc. just easiest to buy that way In the beginning. And I’ll have a spare amp for later.
