30 years later and it’s still one of the best performances you’ll ever see.
YES!
This music will be here another 30 years , but to be honest i dont think pink floyd can even be forgotten , theyre music feels natural to the body and soul..👍🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Amen!! It was amazing
This music will still be studied and enjoyed 500 years from now
And almost thirty years after they first formed - still played with the enthusiasm and energy of 25-year olds!
Widely considered the best live guitar solo ever performed. A masterpiece!
I consider it the best whole concert performance ever.
@brentpope4623 I like Fat Old Sun from his concert in Gdansk, Poland better
@@brentpope4623 This or Mark Knopfler Alchemy
The best performance of possibly the best rock solo.
Agee on that. #1 for me
Pink Floyd don't play gigs it's always an event, it's something that you remember for life.
Exactly. Well said.
It saddens me that we will never get to see them again. It is sad that youngins just discovering Pink Floyd will never get to see them live.
@@eddiebirdie1545 definitly
So true. Wasn't much of a fan, but went to see them at the old docklands arena in London. To this day the single most mind-blowing thing I ever saw and heard. Went out and bought every album.
They did a gig once. It was the great gig in the sky. 😂😂
I worked on this show , set up the lights and audio , and was one of the spotlight operators. 8 nights from memory.
Lucky guy 🎉🎉🎉🎉
How I wish. How I wish I was there.
I went to one of them, 2nd or 3rd night as I remember.
do you know how lucky you are?
@@MiguelDo0omsdayAngelo yup!
This is hard to watch for me. Those of us who saw the tour can never really explain the experience. Keep in mind, everyone in that crowd knew every word of the album "The Wall." They understood the context of the song and what to expect. But they did not. This performance live was (and still is beyond compare). The lighting effect simply do not come through on video, they don't. The stadium exploded in light coming at you from all directions in the pitch darkness. That reflector was the size of a three bedroom house. Towards the end when if opened up the crowd audibly gasped, you could hear it over the music which was ear shatteringly loud. I have attended 300 rock shows and the crescendo for this song (loudness) was hypnotic and has no equal in rock history. There are two guitar solos, the first one is amazing, but the second one is way beyond most rock solos that often devolve into rock guitar noodling, or duet guitar hammering. There is nothing like a jazz-like exposition and free-form mucking about, the second solo is constructed with care, beauty, simplicity, gut-wrenching rock motifs done so well that no one has ever come close to this since. Wagner himself would have stood and cheered in appreciation of this transformation of stage music into pure art, utterly transcendent.
I saw this tour In Detroit at the Pontiac Silver dome there is no way to explain it other than its more than just music it's an experience
well spoken
I revel in seeing first time reactions of people to the music of this period. A magic time, and Pink Floyd led the pack. Yes every show was a production even in the 70's.
That’s got to be the best description of what it must have been like to be there ever. Bravo !
Yes 👍👍👍👍👍
It was a fabulous concert. Never to be repeated.
I was fortunate enough to be in the audience for this . Put it this way I still remember it so clearly and how it profoundly moved me 30 years later
50 years ago Pink Floyd were already 200 years ahead of everybody! I bought my first Pink Floyd album in 1969 (Ummagumma) and saw them live in 1971 and 4 more times after that. For me This is the BEST band of all times. Now I'm 71 years old and still listen to them everyday.
A ta ta tam, bud, wee.
...and every year that passes, Pink Floyd still stays 200 years ahead of everybody until the end of time.
Ummagumma was my first album also and I am 72.
@@robertlinscott1551 Me, too. 73.
Also Atom Heart Mother!
Richard Wright on keyboards provided the sonic atmosphere that is organic to Pink Floyd’s sound. He set the mood like no other. RIP Richard.
@@dfusit the day he died, so did pink floyd😪
@@gabe9120 BIG time !
@@dfusit Agreed! Pink Floyd wouldn’t have been Pink Floyd without his keyboards. I have to say the same about Gilmour too. But Richard Wright was a visionary with the keyboards. RIP Richard
One of their things was to bounce sounds around the stadiums they played in.
RIP, Richard 😢
Believe it or not, David Gilmour (the singer and guitarist you see here) starts today September 27th 2024 his new tour, starting in Rome. New album. He‘s 78 years old.
Thank you. I haven't gone to a concert in a long time, but that is one I would hate to miss. This here was absolutely incredible.
Now that is compelling.
Might have to go unmiss my calling to be a roadie for the fewer years ahead than there are behind.
Start with
Comfortably Numb and transition to whatever TooL needs before I ride the spiral to the end.
I dig the never heard before reactions
78 and still loving it. Doesnt need the cash but think he will have Daughter Romany with him ?
One doesn't merely listen to Pink Floyd, One experiences them. Welcome to the rabbit hole!
Now you know why Pink Floyd is considered by many to be the greatest band of all time. There's a lot more where this came from.
The whole pulse concert is a masterpiece
Once Pink Floyd gets into your soul, there’s no going back.
They have been in my soul for 50 years!
I am pushing 73, This is my number one band.
Every time I hear David Gilmore play Comfortably Numb My system goes haywire In a good way.
From the middle to the end of the solo I almost forget to breathe sometimes, But I always end up crying, Tears of joy really.
When they plant me I want this song played.
God's gift to rock and roll
73 Yo here.....this performance always brings tears to my eyes and goosebumps all over. In my opinion, the greatest song and performance in R&R history...maybe in all of music.
@@jakmak9323 , I am pushing 73 but I will tell you I followed all of the hard rock Led Zeppelin, I think I just had a brain freeze, The purple sweet child and time that puts me in a different universe.
But nothing I mean nothing can rattle my soul like David Gilmore🤟🤟🤟
Same concert...Sorrow, Coming Back To Life, High Hopes, Wish You Were Here, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Run Like Hell...the entire concert is a masterpiece.
Pink Floyd the greatest band ever. Way ahead of their time. Gilmour is amazing on this. Thank you for a great reaction. Cheers from a finn in Sweden.❤❤❤
In 1994, my family and I drove 4 hours across the state to see Pink Floyd live in Kansas City, in what was a version of this same concert. This song in particular was one of the highpoints of my life, and for the rest of the decade, I could give myself goosebumps at will by thinking of this song. (studio version of this song is from the album called The Wall from 1979)
I saw them in 1994 at RFK Stadium in Wash DC. same tour! ^5
I caught this tour at Sun Devil Stadium in Phoenix, with 65,000 friends.
I'm lucky enough to have seen them three times. The first time I was 15. Now, 52 and have seen many many bands live, but they are still the best band I've ever seen live.
@@wowmutt Daughter and I were there, too. We were in the nosebleed upper deck under the awning. That's where the lasers were aimed and it was where most of the "smoke" seemed to gather from below, Hahaha! We took our time leaving. It seemed we had to practice walking. We sat on our car hood and watched the crowd come out. Do you remember the beginning of "Time"? The 2nd drummer was bouncing on the stage while hitting all the chimes and what nots. Amazing!
Hell yeah, I live in Kansas City, saw them at Arrowhead in 88 and 94. Best two concerts of my life and I have worked as a stage hand and seen more than my fair share. Was a mystical magical night ;)
71 years old and have seen them live 3 times………I love watching young people listen to Pink Floyd for the 1st time…….let’s me re-live my youth. 😊
Time by Pink Floyd will tear your soul out.
your Dad was absolutely right in his explanation of Pink Floyd:)
In 1994 I went to see Pink Floyd pulse tour when I lived in Chicago at soldier field. My wife at the time surprised me with 2 tickets to my favorite band of all time. She got the tickets for $75 for 2. When we got to the concert someone outside asked me if I wanted to sell my tickets for $1200 cash.. and I told him no thanks, he said why?.. I’m giving you a lot of money here.. I said because tonight I get to see a God like play the guitar… and I walked away. In the concert at this song and the solo part it started to drizzle rain so softly that it became part of the music, as if God was feeling it to… after the concert we went out to eat and I told my wife we should spend the night here in downtown , so we got a great room even though we lived 45 minutes from the concert. So 9 months later my beautiful daughter was born named Sydney she’s going to turn 30 next year… thanks David for that great solo it did the trick. I will never ever forget that night. Please do same concert of High Hopes… it will blow you away… thanks. FYI I’ve seen them 3 times including the Wall tour.
Pink Floyd is the GREATEST band to ever play a song
One of the greatest songs of all time! ❤
I was in that crowd and i was the best day of my life, even above the birth of my children , they weren't too pleased when I told them that
Lol. Yeah I'm sure they weren't but then they watched and understood, hopefully.
Took my daughter to the show in DC. At age 14. it was her very first live band concert. They did this song as an ENCORE!
Only For this live performance, you get a pass
That guitar literally weeps in David Gilmour's hands, bringing goosebumps and tears❤
EVERY time I see this concert I get goose bumps!!!!!
Absolutely amazing band that no other band will EVER come close to, past, present OR future!!!!!
Pink Floyd.......the band that transcends time!
This is the Gold Standard for any light show and concert. Even to this day, it cannot be beaten.
I was there , it was a disco ball that opened up at the end. That whole show was unbelievable. I still can't believe what I saw that day. There wasn't a dry eye in the audience. The whole show was magical. The band is out of this world. I believe the Lord had everything to with this. There is no way man made this . GREATEST BAND of all time PINK FLOYD. love your video, PINK FLOYD is so you... Glad you got to witness this ..❤❤❤❤
Yeah that was a big crowd there in Earls Court in London. They sold that same venue out 15 nights in a row!!
On another note not only is a Pink Floyd concert a stunning visual but they put speakers on the stage behind the audience on both sides of the audience and above the audience!! They pump 233,000 watts of power through their sound system and lighting for their shows but only turn up the volume a little over halfway for perfect sound with zero distortion! They basically create a giant set of perfect headphones for the audience!!!! I've seen about 100 concerts in my life from ACDC to led Zeppelin and everyone in between you could think of alphabetically!! I've seen Pink Floyd four times in three different decades and those were the four best concerts I've ever seen in my life!! Pink Floyd puts on an extraordinary show every time and as many people say it's not just a show or a gig it's an experience you'll never forget!!!!!
Agreed - the quality of PF sound had to be heard to be believed. Been to many concerts by many bands but none matched them in this sense.
Thanks for the details on how they got that amazing sound - I saw another of the 1994 shows and it was like the audio skipped my ears and went straight to my brain - the loudest, clearest, non-directional sound ever!
Glad you liked the song. I worked on the stage crew for the Pulse tour Canada. Nothing like getting paid to sit backstage & watch Pink Floyd!
Wow. That would have been amazing. I have heard some cool stories in here but that is the best.
Thanks for your help putting it together. I was there, Vancouver, Jun 94
Pink Floyd were the sound and lighting pioneers of the day. If they couldn't find what they needed, they invented it. Years ahead of their time
Correct, the spinning triangular lights on the stage came from an airport runway
Great reaction .. "shine on you crazy diamond" from the same concert is a masterpiece
I was there on Pink Floyds tour. It makes me cry to se it again. I will never forget.
The silhouetted shot with David Gilmour shredding the guitar in the end solo is just the most epic thing. A beautiful shot.
This whole concert is a masterpiece. And will be remembered throughout time, just like Beethovens 5th symphony
I love your channel and your reactions!
You did not break THE CARDINAL RULE of never interrupting a David Gilmore guitar solo. THANK YOU!
ALL the songs from this amazing concert are absolute Gold. Please react to more. 😊
Great choice. All the songs are great from this concert.
I was there for two of the 14 nights that they played at Earls Court. Still the best concert that I have been to.
Richard Wright on keyboard was one of the first to really experiment with synthersizers back in the early days of Pink Floyd
Legendary band, legendary guitarist (David Gilmore) and a legendary concert. Absolute musical perfection.
I was there that night, and they finished with, Run like hell, nobody did though. We sat for ages trying to digest what we had just witnessed. Still watch PF everyday.
“Comfortably Numb” is a dialogue between two characters from The Wall, Pink and the Doctor, which Waters has said was inspired by two incidents. The first came when, as a child, he had a fever which induced a sensation of dissociation and distance; the second came prior to a Floyd gig in the 1970s, when a doctor injected Waters, who had stomach cramps, so that he could get through the show. He later told Mojo magazine that he was “rendered almost insensible”. Hence the lyric: “There is no pain, you are receding.” FT
Pink Floyd was responsible for some of the greatest background of our teenage years. They made our "highs" reach new heights and made our lows not quite so lonely. Everyone of this generation can attach at least one Pink Floyd song to a poignant moment in their youth, which is what makes them endure over time. Many of us to this day are brought to tears at the chorus of Wish you were here. If you have not done a reaction to it, you will love it. There is also a video of two street performers in a train station in Ireland playing Wish you were here, that is beautiful!!! I hope you give it a try if you haven't! Cheers!
Super reaction. I was at this exact concert October 20th 1994 Earls Court, London and had tears in my eyes at the end. Simply the best musical concert I have ever attended.
The worlds largest mirror ball (40 feet in diameter) opened near the end of the finally. The large mirror ball was a staple of a Pink Floyd show, this version took it to a new level when it opened.
AWESOME!!! Pink Flyod in the 1990s better than bands in the 2020's
I saw them in Birmingham, Alabama - of all places - and the crowd was transfixed then. David burning his guitar on Pulse album is the universe telling us THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER.
The thing above the crowd was a disco [sucks!] ball reflecting light around the stadium. It later opened up to reveal a diamond (check out "Shine On You Crazy Diamond") which was a tribute to Syd Barrett, one of the founding members of Pink Floyd.
Electronics in rock existed long before this concert, and had its heyday in the 1960s to 1970s. Groups were experimenting with what could be done with the electric guitar (a relatively new "invention" compliments of Les Paul) and also with the Moog synthesizer which came along and elevated what bands had already been doing with Hammond organs and similar instruments. The Beatles, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and a slew of others (including Pink Floyd) were blowing up speakers and distorting amplifiers in the pursuit of new sounds.
By the time the '80s rolled around -- and definitely the '90s when the Pulse concert was performed/recorded -- electronic music had pretty much been explored and perfected with nothing new left to discover -- with the exception of auto-tune... which has become the abomination and downward death spiral of all the good music that us old timers took for granted for three decades.
On a side note, Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' album has been used as the de-facto standard to test (and compare) new recording standards as they emerged and evolved; with the original 16-track recordings (highly advanced in its day) remastered to vinyl records, cassette tape, CD and DVD, and now to lossless digital formats like FLAC.
Pink Floyd continues to transcend time and space!
Pink Floyd was always ahead of their time when it came to sonic innovation, music, and staging. They’re easily one of the most innovative rock bands that ever played. Floyd never followed trends. They created them.
I am one of the few people who were NOT there that night. But the song, and Floyd still blow me away. This is only one of thousands of concerts I have not attended.
@OslerWannabe Things just got in the way, didn't they. You have one of the best comments here. I never knew of SRV, either.
Great to see your appreciation for this performance!!! I was fortunate to see Pink Floyd on this Pulse tour at The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas in 1994. Had 18th row seats on the floor and it was an experience of a lifetime!! The electronic keyboards (synthesizers) started in the early 70s with progressive rock bands such as Yes, Emerson Lake and Palmer, and subsequently Genesis. Many bands have had amazing light shows, but none better than Pink Floyd. I highly recommend "High Hopes" and "Run Like Hell" from this same Pulse concert!!!
Our generation was so into our music that we actually sat still to listen. Most at that concert, I’m sure, we’re from our generation. The 70”s kids. We listened intensely to the music and knew/know every note. So, I’m certain the audience was doing the same thing…taking it all in.
Your right , im a 1969 baby and the 70s was the last real generation that was layed back to a huge degree . Like the movie sand lot #1
🙏🙏🙏🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🙏🙏🙏
I would have loved to be in the audience. The music and visuals were absolutely
amazing. What a concert. I really enjoyed. Thank you
Lotus flower opening up -- significant spiritual significance that everyone should understand associated with David Gilmour's iconic guitar solo.
I was lucky enough to see Pink Floyd live on this very tour in May of 1994 in the old Foxboro Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts (the video shown is at the end of the tour in October of that year in Earl's Court, London). I can honestly say that it was an experience that I will never forget. I have seen quite a few concerts, but nothing ever came close to this experience. It was so surreal, as if time was suspended (no hyperbole). IMHO, Pink Floyd is at their best performing live. I would recommend watching other songs from this concert. You wouldn't be disappointed. 🙂 Great reaction!!
Not only the best musical rock band but also the moat visual
They were so far ahead of their time also thank you for not interrupting a David Gilmour solo
When you said that your father had 'The Dark Side of the Moon ' ,everyone's father had it ( except mine) ,thankfully I'm a dad and I do have it and my son is a massive fan, I went 1 better than most and also heard and saw it live in the 2nd half of this exact concert. Ain't I a smug g€+ . 😊🤘
One the most iconic guitar solos in rock history.
Been in the music industry for 40 yrs. The light show still amazes me. She did a great job.
I "think" it was to represent a lotus blossom. Pink Floyd was not only ahead of their time, they are timeless. Masters of stage and studio. The inspiration for this song was a time when one of the band members (Roger Waters) unknowingly had hepatitis and got sick on tour. A local doctor diagnosed it as a stomach bug and gave him a sedative. By the time he went on stage he was so out of it his hands felt numb and swollen like 2 balloons, also a reference to how he felt once as a child with a 105F fever. He could barely play but the crowd cheered anyway so he was Comfortably Numb.
I was around when these albums were released, long before this concert. I always love seeing the expression on the faces of those hearing them for the first time. Pink Floyd sounds better live than many bands do in the studio. But what Pink Floyd does in the studio is nothing short of magic. Might I suggest the studio version of Shine on You Crazy Diamond, parts 1-5 and 6-9. It was written as a tribute to Syd Barret, one of the founding band members that left the band due to a losing battle with drugs and schizophrenia.
One of my favorite Pink Floyd songs is The Great Gig in the Sky (studio version with Clare Torry please). I guarantee you've never heard anything like it. Though ideally you should react to it as part of side 1 of Dark Side of the Moon. Possibly the greatest album of all time and meant to be listened to in 1 sitting. Well, 2 since in the day we'd have to get up to flip the vinyl...
😁
Great reaction.
Floyd will always be associated with the Pulse concert, so many amazing songs. When you feel you're fully immersed in the 'emotion' of Floyd, then you should watch High Hopes from the same show.
Sorrow from pulse concert is just as good! They spent 98 million on the light show out of a 260 million total. They care more about their music and your visual experience than you seeing them out front. Great Reaction
The synthesizer was used heavenly in the 80s. It brought a new element to rock and roll.
Named in homage to two older black blues musicians from North Carolina, USA, “Pink” Anderson, and “Floyd” Council, the band was attracted by their raw, bluesy sound. No other band like them to compare to, they are “the cerebral band of rock”.
Wow. Thanks
I was today years old when I learned how my favorite band got their name and from my own home and current state, North Carolina! Damn I hate being ignorant for so long on this data point. Thank you for sharing your wisdom! Now to research those ladies. ❤
Great reaction !! Glad that you found this epic perfomance. Your comments shows you really absorbed all the aspects of this song . Sound, lights , lyrics and the music of course. Wonderful that " old " songs catches someone after 30 years Only wish I´d been there ( on the other hand I, might not survived ).
Pink Floyd is it's own genre. Anything from the Pulse concert is a masterpiece. This song was the first encore. the final encore is "Run Like Hell" which is also mind bending. "Coming Back to Life " is probably one of their most beautiful and under rated songs. You could just pick one from random from this concert and have a winner. Nice job.
You have to remember that Comforably Numb is just a chapter in the book The Wall. It is a chapter in the middle of the book. The Wall is a story about Pink and his life. I saw the original concert on 27 Feb 80 in the Nassau Coliseum, David doing his solo on top of the Wall. The greatest show on Earth.
Others may have said it, but it's worth repeating. This Pink Floyd song was much later than their first works of genius (this song is from "The Wall" album). Their light shows were always as incredible as their soundscapes - I saw them live in 1976. Your journey of exploration of music is incomplete until you have listened to the whole album "Dark Side of the Moon" from start to finish. It remains one of THE highest selling albums of all time, for a reason. It is musical and lyrical genius manifest, and it's themes are timeless and apply to any generation. To quote Roger Waters on Dark Side's themes "It has some kind of universal appeal in that it confronts a number of major psychological and emotional concerns". And yes, high quality was always their hallmark, in fact then and to this day, Dark Side of the Moon is used by audiophiles to test high end sound systems due to the clarity, dynamic range and brilliance of the engineering. Do the studio album first, but the entire Dark Side album's tracks are in the PULSE Restored and Re Edited videos. Then there is this documentary on the making of by the band members:
ua-cam.com/video/jUBnS5G34IM/v-deo.html ( PINK FLOYD - The Dark Side Of The Moon 2003 Documentary HD )
Back in the day when Floyd was at it's peak, so was Disco, there was a not so friendly war in the music industry between rock and disco. Pink Floyd is saying Disco Sucks right here as they turn the disco ball into a squid.
Was there. An incredible concert. Can't but shed a tear at the end when the stage lights up again after the glutter ball has fully opened, so glad it was professionally recorded. I think the entire audience was stunned by the experience. The band members and crew touched a lot if souls that evening, thank you.
Re the light show etc. I saw them in Sydney in 1988 and it was no less brilliant than what you just saw. Mind blowing is the only words I can use to describe that concert. Pink Floyd were the ultimate in composition, both lyrics and melody and their concerts were unmatched. I love love love them.
Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin are the True Masters of the craft of MUSIC! They do things that you never hear anyone else do. Ppl copy them and are inspired by them. True Masters!
Pink Floyd's Dark side of the Moon is considered one of the best albums ever recorded . Early Genesis ( Selling England by the Pound) early Yes , Focus ( Eruption) Emerson Lake & Palmer , Uriah Heep ( Salisbury ) Alan Parsons Project and much more . thanks
I saw one very young lady reactor watching this same video say that the disco ball opening was like an angel being born ... she may have been right! I certainly feel in touch with the Divine while experiencing this ...
We saw this live in '94, and it was a life changing experience. Best concert I have ever attended. Such a talented group of people. Pick any song from this performance you won't be disappointed!
Not a phone in sight. Everyone rapt . Wonderful.
Not a lot of cel phones in 1994 anyway 😁 The good old time where our hands were free and our ears opened!!!
I read the mirror ball was in the form of an Orchid symbolizing rebirth by opening. I heard Gilmore say in an interview once he didn't know what it felt like in the audience during that song, but the band playing behind him was so full, he felt he could lean back into it. I wasn't at this show, but saw this tour in Detroit. I can't explain how incredible it was. This wasn't even the final song, Run Like Hell was. Thank God for UA-cam, I can relive the whole anytime I desire.
Pink Floyd is a magical art form.
Welcome to the Machine...'On the Turning Away' , another great David Gilmour solo
Its so enjoyable to see someone listening to Pink Floyd and be totally engulfed, slightly smiling, and just enjoying the music, sometimes being in awe and generally appreciating the performance...
I actually loved Richard singing Waters part of the verses. RIP Richard.
I've been a fan since the early 70's. I was totally into Rock & Roll up at Humboldt State Univ. when I first heard "Dark Side of The Moon". I was hooked and had to wait until '94' to see them live at The Oakland Coliseum in California. When that enormous Disco Ball came down it looked like a UFO coming down to check out the show. When it opened up they shot lasers at it from all over the place and it turned the Stadium and all of us into a moving liquid plasma of bodies. At the beginning of the song there's a shot of the crowd looking down at the band and everyone is frozen to their seats with awe. My 9 year old grand son showed me UA-cam for the 1st time, now I can relive that elation I felt 30 years ago. Shedmen56
That “thing” over the crowd is the Mothership opening its doors to let you in to take you on the rabbit hole that is Pink Floyd. All are welcome but not all understand. It’ll be the trip of your life.
The song *"Comfortably Numb"* is from Pink Floyd's concept album called *"The Wall".* A story about a rock star named Pink (not about the singer named Pink) who's going mad via drugs & becoming isolated. The *"cult singers"* were singing a psychologist examining Pink & trying to talk to Pink. And see if he responds. David Gilmour (guitar & lead singer) was Pink in this song.
That big ball was a big Disco ball that transformed into *"I GOT NO IDEA".* Sorry. Can't help you there.
Personally. I like the original music video over the remaster one. The remaster video portion is more confusing by being more chopped up aka edited. Producers tried to make the video into a music video. While the original video was a concert video.
In the beginning was Pink Floyd. No other band was needed! Even in the '70s they needed 14 artics to move all their gear!
This concert indeed held on 1994, they were completely ahead of their time
I was fortunate enough to see this tour in Vancouver, BC. My wife and I went and she was 6 months pregnant with our first born. Both kids love PF today.
Those spinning speakers on stage were there to create the feeling of the music moving in "Waves" over the audience (sort of a wah wah effect) to match the words he is saying that they are coming through in waves. A Pink Floyd concert want a sensory event, not just a concert.
Saw them about 6 times in various European countries on the Delicate Sound of Thunder tour outdoors and in the O2 stadium indoors.
The crowd was silent in the songs because it was so phenomenally loud you couldn't hear yourself, only feel your body resonate with the bass
You always remember your first love/show ... May 4th, 1988 Carter Finley Stadium , Raleigh NC. I turned 22 that day!!
I saw this Pink Floyd tour. The thing over the crowd is called a mirror ball. The crowd didn't move (except to clap) for the entire 3hr show. It was amazing.
David Gilmore said in an interview , It's amazing what sounds you can get just by " Bending a few little strands of wire " Epic......
The medusa that opens up above the crowd is a spaceship that transports David Gilmour back to his planet after each concert.
The object above the crowd is an Acorn or Kernel, the source of all ideas, glad you enjoyed, I enjoyed your enjoyment
They never fail to take you on an emotional journey.
I am lucky enough to have seen them live.
This is as close as you will ever come to seeing them live.
You should look at Dire Straits "Sultans of Swing" Alchemy Tour.
Pink Floyd is the best band to ever step on stage or the studio. This will be the most amazing musical journey you can take. Enjoy the ride.
I was at the Pulse concert in 1994 at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia. It was the most greatest concert I’ve ever been to. And I’ve been to a lot since the 70’s. -- It was a huge disco ball over the crowd.
Any songs from this concert (Pulse) are with a view.
Try the "Great Gig in the Sky.
Pink Floyd is such a genius band. Many people have stated that their music is for "Advanced Music Listeners."
It most certainly invokes nostalgic emotions, especially to those of us that got to Breathe in the Air. What can be said to those that will never get to experience one of their live concerts, Wish You Were Here. Perhaps in Time.
Love that you got into it.
Please enjoy more Pink Floyd. 👀 🇦🇺
After putting my Lab down at the vet I came out to the car and this song just started playing. I sat there and cried like a baby. I’ll always think of Fred (being comfortably numb) when I hear this song.
You were exactly right. I was at this concert and it was amazing how still and quiet everyone was during every single song. The visuals, the sound, everything was just breathtaking, we couldn't take it all in. Even today I can't believe how good it was. I kept looking around and everyone was just sitting there, transfixed. The video doesn't really give a good idea how great it was, you can't feel the heat from the flares or feel the music (it was much louder than the video suggests) which went right thru you. The mirror-ball in this song came out of nowhere as it was hidden at the top of the hall and suddenly burst into life, as it was revolving the entire inside of the hall was covered in millions of tiny moving lights made more effective as the house and stage lights were down.
He plays with his soul as well no one has his heart and soul in there guitar playing like him
