    No dialogue in this little bonus video. My setup is changing as of monday with the arrival of some recommended new stones from you all.
    Overall I was decently happy with this mora, which looked like absolute garbage due to pitting, and use as a rat knife. You can always go more reflective/shinier but this was my upper limit of grits I have available right this minute.
    Will be interesting to compare this process with what will be a whole different system of stones and tools. Thanks for watching 😊

    Nice going Pete. Not a bad idea to add different sharpening skills to the ole knife sharpening basket. From KME to Worksharp to Arkansas stones to Spyderco ceramics. A well rounded array of skills to stop dull knives and tools in their tracks!

    I just use the cheap & cheerful Lansky Turn Box with my Mora followed by stropping with green compound. Works fine.

    This is why scandi grinds shouldn't be supersteels. Imagine removing all that material on k390

    I love the recent freehand sharpening series of your videos! Are you going to try some performance testing comparing different stones and how that affects the rope cut test?

    G'day Pete, the ol' Pro S is really underrated in the budget end of the Mora family IMO. i've been using one as a "garden knife" for years, though cant say I've ever given it an edge like that before; very well done mate !!!!!!!. Cheers Duke.

    Nice work. I have a Mora that I want to do this too. The micro bevel isn't sharp any more. I have some stones. I just have to buck up the courage to try.

    With my atoma diamond plates I use 4 small balls of bluetack and press down hard to a stone sized piece of wood fixed to my table, its sturdy as ....wet cloth is annoying. , nice results, creepy music ........

    Love the sharpening vids but I have to wonder why, if you have so many sharpening systems, do you still rub your knives on a stone like a caveman? Is it because you’re showing us, the viewer, All the different ways to approach the same end goal? Or is because…
    Bushcraft?

    cbn for non powered grinding is a gimmick and pointless. if you're going to get a powered grinder for high speed steel and such things, then cbn is hands down the way to go over diamond especially the finer you go in grit. why? because heat. other than heat diamonds are the better abrasive in every way. and no that king is absolutely not splash and go. the only sng stone king makes that i've seen, and I've seen a lot, is the 1000 grit resin bonded diamond stone they make. it's one of one, the one stone in that line, they don't make resin bonded diamond stones in any other grit. If you want an awesome stone from king to get that can easily handle any steel, I'd get the 800 grit king neo. it's also a one of one and for $35 it's one of the best stones i've ever used at any price. grinding power is off the charts at least twice that of an 800 chosera, leaves a fine edge, is able to create contrast finishing on cladding knives, and it wears extremely slowly, doesn't make a mess and is a joy to use.

    This is why I never buy scandi grind knives any more. If they become dull, you need to either create a microbevel or sharpen the whole surface of the grind, spending time and stone for nothing. I don't get the desire for scandy grinds, honestly

    • @MB-jg4tr
      @MB-jg4tr 2 місяці тому +3

      It's the best edge grind for woodworking. It's basically a wood chisel. If you use an inexpensive medium grit diamond plate, then a medium-fine ceramic for finishing it's goes really fast actually. The steels commonly used for scandi grinds sharpen easily, and it's best to touch them up frequently and not let the edge truly get dull or yeah you're in for major material removal to keep the true scandi edge
