I don't know if it's implemented at the moment, but if you press DMS AFT LONG, it should toggle the HMCS on and off withou you having to look down to find and turn the knob.
I feel like you underestimate the power of the radar. The f16 and fa18 have really powerful radars and the notch filters are so small that it is almost pointless to worry about notch unless you are flying an f14
@@rwhunt99 idk, the longest someone has stayed in a notch for me was maybe 1 scan across and by the time it went by again they were out of my notch filter. Also notching hasn't broken an stt lock for me yet. at least I think it hasn't
Hello Grim Reapers.Fantastic to look at your videos and i now you guis have a respected community in dcs.Do you notice the boarding ladders are out in flight on f-18 after viper relese.I have struggeled with adressing this issue, and no fix on todays update.Are you guis able to notise this strange bug on any way it helps alot.THX alot fly safe.

If the F-16C was complete this wouldnt be a question but in this case i would like to question your experience. Do you think Eagle dynamics will complete the F-16C properly or will they just add the most requested features and then leave it uncompleted? The last case happened to me when I bough a DLC A320 for X-Plane 11.
It will be completed, eventually, but there's no telling how long it might take. On the bright side, a lot of the core functionality is there. I'm relatively new to the DCS community, but from what I have gathered modules tend to spend *years* in early access and I don't think it will be any exception for the Viper. So it really depends if you are looking for the module to be completed soon or if you are okay with it being in Early Access for a long time.
Is vertical scan in reference to the plane? Meaning banking 90 degrees means it scans along the horizon? What about other radar modes (CRM-RWS/TWS), are they in reference to the horizon or the plane?

go to your controls and select search and type { dog} 4th one down is called {dogfight/miss override switch- Cycle} map that to a button. each time u press it, it will swap from NAV, DGFT,MSSL. im sure there is a better way but I have bout an hr into this plane. for the life of me cant find the airbrake tho lol
It's been updated since this video was made. Check out Matt Wagner's video on F-16 and F-18 dogfight updates if you haven't already. He explains the changes there.
The MRM/DGFT Switch on the F-16 Throttle is a 3-states switch. It has Fwd, Center and Aft positions. If you want to get in Dogfight Mode, you press it Aft. If you want to get in MRM (Medium Range Missiles) you press it Fwd. And when you don't need those modes, to go back to whatever mode you were previously, you leave the switch in Center. However, if I understood your question, you're talking about changing the Radar Modes, right? For that, you have to press the Off-Screen Buttons on whichever MFD you have on the FCR page. If the Radar is in "STBY", you press the button next to this word and it will show you the Radar Modes menu, where you can choose whatever mode you want to get into. When you select a mode, that button that was showing the "STBY" will now display the corresponding word for that mode. You press it again and you can change between all the modes like this. I can't remember if there is any button other than the MRM/DGFT to toggle these modes. So, in practicve, what you'll often do is get in A-A Mastermode on the ICP, and you'll get in, by default, in the BVR/CRM, and when you want to switch to DGFT, you simply press the MRM/DGFT AFT. Then when you want to go back to BVR, you just flick the MRM/DGFT back to Center.
all works except I cant seem to get DGFT to appear on the HUD,I think it due to me doing this on mission editor..frustrating..brill tutorial apart from that...down to me no doubt.hence cant fire guns or missiles..no wonder my hair is falling out ;-).

If your ACM Submode is STUCK to Slew Only and won't come off of it to 20/60/Boresite you need to add a deadzone to the mini-stick/hat-axis you have bound to your Radar Cursor. You can't get the FCR out of slew mode if there is a tiny input sending a slew command. You probably have slight movement on your slew control which auto-overrides any ACM submode selected and puts it into slew. Drove me freaking nuts for hours. The feeling of flying a bugged plane just raises the hairs on the back of my neck and I can't stand it.

@@rwhunt99 I do mean without countermeasures only. Once someone notches you with chaff it throws off all the time.

When in HMCS and i go into bore mode i dont get that eliptical bore sight on the head mount, what am i missing?
why does it not lock auto when in helmet search mode ? why you have to visual see the target which is often not the case.

I just press a-g mode twice to get back to Nav mode. Works for me.
How do you use aim 120s with this mode? THey dont seem to fire.

mine only locks at 10 mile not 20 am doing something wrong ?

What I do is I'm just on dgft mode then I press TMS up it turns the HMCS mode and locks but I don't know how to use it with eegs
