    Stop with the trimming. There is no trimming in the Viper (except yaw for bent jets). Also, you're looking for 11 degrees AOA, not "on speed."

      The problem is that the trim in this module is borked. Give A2A refueling a go and you will see.

      There is no roll-trim? What if you are carrying an asymmetric load? Like one fuel tank and a lantern pod? Is that simply not done in the f-16?
      On the f-18, two fuel tanks(center and right), and a pod on the left is flown sometimes. It is called, "double ugly". That bird would need roll-trim adjustments durning the flight.

      @@mrjava66 the jet does a pretty good job of trimming itself in pitch and roll. But you wouldn't fly with only one fuel tank and a TGP. That's a Hornet thing.

      Is it a carry-over effect from other aircraft on the contant trimming thing? The expert(C. W Lemoine) and good knowledge of the Viper says no trimming except in an unbalanced load out. Cap needs to put out this information out to correct this impression.

    ILS landing was my favorite thing to do in Falcon. Using just the instruments to put wheels down for a safe landing (to me) was cooler than launching a fox 3.

  • @mrjava66
    @mrjava66 4 роки тому +7

    Qfe does not depend upon altitude. The instrument corrects for altitude. Qfe is only dependent upon weather. High pressure, sunny weather it is higher. Low pressure, cloudy and rainy, it's lower. Works the same way in the Cessna 172.

    8:45 The glideslope deviation indicator is the little traingle with a deviation scale on left edge of ADI. Bars over center of ADI ball are flight director bars, not localizer and G/S indicators. They work with any other A/P mode active, not only with ILS coupled approach.

    Remember that if you fly the TACAN radial on runway heading you WILL be off the runway centreline when the ILS localiser kicks in because the TACAN is usually offset from the runway centreline. So expect and be ready to make a small correction.

    • @mrjava66
      @mrjava66 4 роки тому +4

      Andre ARTYMIUK roger. There are three radio transmitters for the setup. First is the tacan. It's a large-ish device, about the size of a garage, round, and roughly sumbaro shaped roof. It has a rotation transmitter inside, and your plan can tell the direction between the radio and itself with the tacan. If you are also transmitting, and the equipment supports the function, you can do DME. And measure your distance to it. This device is normally located some where at the airfield, but not lined up with any runway.
      Then the ils also has two transmitters. One is about 250 ft short of the runway, and in line with the center line. It is called the localizer. It provides the signal that your plane uses to tell if it is left or right of the centerline. This device is about the size of a China cabinet or small wardrobe. Some ifr approaches use just the localizer, and don't use/have elevation information available on the approach. You have an altimeter, an airspeed indicator, and a clock, that's enough to land in most ifr conditions.
      The final piece of equipment is the angle of approach indicator. (Sorry, I forgot its name.). It is also about the size of a small wardrobe, it should be located just a few meters to the left of the papi. (The two white and two red lights, that you see, when you are on glide slope).
      You can go to airnav.com to see the approach diagrams for how this is done with less equipment than a full ils setup. Commercial airports will generally have at least one ils runway. But many general aviation airports make due with less. Also, many commercial airports also have an ils approach that uses just the tacan. Those can let you approach the other runways in ifr, or mvfr weather. Also, 1500ft agl ceilings are fairly common in some places, and easy vfr flying once you are in the pattern, but you will need an approach that inserts you into the pattern.

    You mention QFE and that the runway is close to sea level, but in this weather I would assume that QNH is much less that 2992 - to be mentioned by the ATC. But then again, you don't need an altimeter for other than establishing your initial altitude, below the glide slope.

    The Tad Pole (MAN, I completely forgot the name of that thing! Thanks for reminding me, Cap) works exactly like the two circles landing cueing system of the Flankers (which i also forgot the name), which you have to pursuit the bigger circle that will align you to the glideslope + localiser, and keep it on top of the + symbol in the center of your HUD, and eventually a smaller circle appears and when these two circles are perfectly overlapped and centralised with your HUD Crosshairs (these three symbols combined will actually look like a gun crosshairs) this means you're perfectly aligned for landing.
    Both in the Flanker and the Viper, if you simply focus on pursuiting their respective cueing symbology as close to perfect as you can, while you working the throttle for the correct On Speed AoA, you pretty much don't need to worry about anything else (except, of course, only double-checking you have the Three Green for the Gears), and you will land the plane just fine.

      Just curious, why would you not want to trim the plane to be able to keep the stick in a neutral position. This may be because of a short arm length on my desktop joystick but I feel like it’s personally easier to make smaller, consistent movement via the trim such as that needed to this situation. It’s it just not preferred or is there actually something wrong with it?

    • @damsonn

      @@MrCritict333 IIRC Falcon's FBW system is setup such way, that it trims itself automatically across the speed range. So even when you land (slow speed) you will not need to touch the vertical trim at all, airplane will maintain its flight path untill you slow down to below stall speed at which point FBW cannot maintain flight anymore.

All three came in the same box and was about $200 for the whole kit. Good enough for basic flying, cheap junk for any precision work like this type landing. If I were to rank the importance of each controller and what you should invest in first, I would say pedals #1, stick #2 then the throttle last. Anyone know where I can find good quality flight sim controllers? lol

    Hi Cap. Thanks for the video!
    I tried an ILS approach on Kobuleti airfield but after setting the right frequency I had no morse signal, and when I set the course of 064° (checked on the airfield documents pressing "K") and pressed enter, the string line with the course started to flash. So I had no ILS.
    Where do I go wrong?

    •  4 роки тому

      On course setting - you should have typed only "64" then hit Enter. On frequency - no idea, but bare in mind that ILS is relatively short range and relatively directional (+-15 degrees each side of the runway axis in both directions).

    Thanks for a nice video. What is the procedure if you would have start from the side of the runway? Here it happens to be nice that TACAN guides you in a way you crosses ILS (after slight correction of your course), because runway was quite nicely ahead of you from the beginning. In a situation you start placed right or left from the runway, TACAN guides you towards the middle of airport, would you then arbitrarily try to steer to the correct side of it not to fly directly at the airport, but rather to initial (maybe calling ATC asking for azimuth message that always points rather to initial)? Thank you!

    • @deathsicon
      @deathsicon 11 місяців тому

      old as your comment is here im sure you've worked it out but for others finding this, by setting a heading and having your distance you can pick any arbitrary number, say 20 miles for example, when you get that distance from your tacan station fly in whatever direction needed to get your azimuth line to that tacan station then turn in on it when you approach the correct azimuth, you could actually overfly the beacon doing the exact opposite direction out to the appropriate distance then turn around so long as your following that azimuth error line and correcting for it

    Runway headings are magnetic, not true. ILS approaches are magnetic as well. You just have to fly the course indicated on the approach plate.

    Very nice! This my first, so far only, ifr landing in a10c. Analog only, turned off hud. ua-cam.com/video/YexjP96Uf_U/v-deo.html
    Didnt know about measuring true runway heading and/or magnetic difference from true. Should try again.

      We do the group missions in evenings. Currently looking after my partner in evenings. With a little luck we may get back to normal next week. Fingers crossed.

      We are still flying in the evenings, but without our glorious leader, it descends into chaos, and we get far too excited and forget to film it. 😂😂😂. As cap said, he will hopefully be back to whip us into shape next week.

    You are really slow to adjust power. You need to be making constant adjustments. Also, you don't go visual when shooting an ILS until a Decision height even if you can see the runway.

    • @mrjava66
      @mrjava66 4 роки тому

      ravagetalon yep. If you pop out of an overcast-layer, and have a broken-layer below you, then the runway can move in and out of sight while you finish the approach. The part of his pre-approach briefing that was missing was his "decision height" determination. On every ifr approach, the pilot needs to consider her skills, consider the approach's equipment, and the published diagram, and then, decide on a decision height. Then check the weather and see how those values compare. If it is favorable, then shot the approach.

      That is incorrect, unless you are speaking about military procedure only which I have no experience on. In the real civilian world, if you have the runway environment in sight, threshold, or certain portions of approach lighting(ALS,PAPI,VASI) you are legally free to fly it down visually ignoring DA. Check the far aim

      "The bigger circle" is called a flight path vector (FPV).
