I don't think respawns should be chosen by the player, but i do think it shouldn't be random. I personally think respawns should work 1 of 2 ways. either your spawn is decided based on where the demo occurred, spawning the player on the opposite side of the field to where they died makes the most sense to me. or respawns should be based on where the ball is when you spawn or where it was when you died, & again spawning on the opposite side of the field makes the most sense. These options would make respawns completely predetermined & predictable by all players on the field.
If it was a 100% spawn on the opposite side of the field, spawn demoing would be 100% easier. Woody would make it so a player would stay dead the majority of the game if you can choose the side it would force woody to aim for a spawn on the side that’s most beneficial for the play so you could choose the opposite side and have a better chance at not getting trapped. For a non demo game perspective if you can choose your positioning it adds an extra layer of decision making
Going for the player over the ball was not actually the best thing to do in alot of these situations.. Forcing your opponent to tilt is a factor, I get it. However, He was in position to actually do something with the ball, ignored it several times and gave up possession or straight gave up an easy goal. Sure, it takes skill but at the end of the day, its mostly Demoing just to Demo, not really an efficient strategy.
Still remember this time I got in a lobby with Sledge and someone else (they had [DEMO] in their tag so) and I managed to evade getting demoed the whole time. I wonder if the other person might've been Woody, but I doubt it given the circumstances lmfao
I ran a bot over the ballchasing site (with permission from Can't Fly, don't worry!), still processing the results -- but one highlight so far is 50c54baa-e6a5-47d3-b3be-70f98b3c5c28 . *20* demos by Alpha54 (alongside the ever-gentleman Fairy Peak with 0 demos) in a 2v2. The other team didn't stop trying, Alpha's team won with no overtime -- fully legit*. It's fascinating to watch because Alpha clearly doesn't have the same degree of practice at demos as Woody (e.g., spawn killing wasn't quite on point), but still racked up the total of *nearly* 24 with only 2 targets on the field. It's also funny because the demo strategy only appeared a little while into the game... after Alpha54 got demoed :-D * It turns out when you do a search for games with lots of demos, you find a lot of "non-legit" games where a player was just afk and just got demoed 50 times, etc...
I think the respawns, instead of it being 50%50 it should be 33.33% you spawn left, 33.33% you spawn right and then a 33.33% chance it randomized so you could spawn anywhere
I'd seriously love to run into them in game. So many matches are too predictable. I'd probably get wasted like the blue team, but I'd enjoy the change of pace
Well if more than 50% of the lobbies was like this, I would probably not play the game anymore. Demos are a legitimate part of the game but I think Psyonix has to take care to keep it balanced such that the main part of the community focuses on what I consider the core gameplay.
Like mentioned tho, its difficult to play like this, woody and sledge have basically had this playstyle their whole RL career. Question: What happens in a 3v3 private match when 3 people (*on the same team) are demoed and they do not move away from the spawn point? Does the 3rd spawn on top of one of the others?
i mean. Mind you i have no problem with them. But i am fairly certain that it takes more skill to do most advanced mechanics in rocket league than to chain demos.
@@navaryn2938 It also takes skill to dodge demo's, it's just that you don't have the chance to practise it that often while playing, so you aren't used to chain demoers
I’ve had this idea for respawns for a while and I’m surprised I’ve never seen anyone else ever mention it. Why can’t the player just respawn on the same side of the field they got demod on. Like, you obviously always spawn on your teams half, but I mean if you got demod on the left side of the field, you’d respawn on the left side of your goal, and vice versa. It completely eliminates all RNG from in game and I don’t really see any downsides to it.
What if they changed spawns so you're a 'ghost' for the first like 3 seconds, in which you can hit the ball but not (get) hit (by) other players? Maybe add the option to choose the respawn side as well?
Bc right now chain demo's don't have counterplay and if you spawn on the wrong side you can mess up your teammates and there's no control over that either
I wish i saved a replay of this, but when Heatseeker first came out, me and one of my opponents would as soon as we spawn aim to double demo every single time We finished with atleast 50 demos each, i honestly i wish i had saved the replay though, it was one the funniest games ive played this year
Rocket League would be way more interesting if you could chose your spawn side after demo. I think they should make you wait 1 extra second but let you chose which side you spawn on, defaulting to a random side if you don't choose. It would add another layer of strategy and decision making skill to the game, especially in 1's but the other modes too.
I love demo plays and have definitely encountered players who hate demos. My question is what a wholesome way to respond to haters of demos? Yes you can respond with more hatred but I’d prefer not to do that.
I feel like the spawn kills aren't interactive, though there is a 50% chance they'll fail. If it were possible to get a 3v3 team denying every spawn it would be a problem

I remember playing with Woody a few times, he's insane!
Thanks! ❤️
This is awesome!!!
I wish i saved a replay of this, but when Heatseeker first came out, me and one of my opponents would as soon as we spawn aim to double demo every single time
We finished with atleast 50 demos each, i honestly i wish i had saved the replay though, it was one the funniest games ive played this year
Rocket League would be way more interesting if you could chose your spawn side after demo. I think they should make you wait 1 extra second but let you chose which side you spawn on, defaulting to a random side if you don't choose. It would add another layer of strategy and decision making skill to the game, especially in 1's but the other modes too.
There should be unlimited boost ranked modes so that when u are punished for mistakes, it is not as severe, especially in ones
I want to see more of these
Time to implement a rearview mirror for every player :D
Woody is a goddamn legend
I love demo plays and have definitely encountered players who hate demos. My question is what a wholesome way to respond to haters of demos? Yes you can respond with more hatred but I’d prefer not to do that.
I feel like the spawn kills aren't interactive, though there is a 50% chance they'll fail. If it were possible to get a 3v3 team denying every spawn it would be a problem
Directional arrows (d-pad) to choose respawns
I had 26 one game but it was solo queue so not 41 as a team. I’d imagine somewhere in the 30s is the record for one player
predicting custom demo explosions in f2p right here
I wonder how well this might work against an RLCS team. I'd love to see them try it.
I feel like they would avoid demos way better
The pros now are demoing more than ever
Check SSG VS G2 the last one on Johny’s channel
There is a chain demos from Retals to Chicago
literally like this video
I got 21 by myself in a 3v3 game, now I know what I gotta hear 😈
*beat
If I played against these guys my monitor would be shattered in a million different pieces
The engine sound...
Hahahaha ya
I use it to troll, but I change it in bakkesmod so I don't have to hear it 😅😅
@@Woodyyyy ohhhh super smart! ! starting that tonight hahaha thanks for the tip :) :)
52 sec in the match and I'm laughing
😄😄😄
Americans about soccer: „Nah, pussies crying about some collisions“
Also Americans: „Nooooo! Mama he bumped me!!, cryyyyyyyy“
XDD
Jk chillax
I can only imagine the chat this game
I think you should spawn opposite of ball side so you can rotate easily behind your team
Demos are fair and a good addition to the game, and I love blowing shit up.
But holy fuck is it infuriating to play against when it's on this level ;_;
LMAO id imagine what's going on in the chat Hahaha
Demos are not easy. I've tried them on high level gameplay and missed everytime. It is tilting when someone is better at them than you. However, I don't usually say anything. I just tell myself tobget better at them.
I'm curious whether this will become a functional meta for pro play lol
I did this for like an hour one day. I must have accumulated at least 10 reports from angry victims and for some reason team mates
It would be interesting to see pro players against this demo gods
I actually ran into this dude in high c3. Recognized him from the sunless video, v tilting but gg
gg 🤝
Demo respawn idea: respawn on the side of the pitch which has fewer players. This would be great for 3s and 2s but might be problematic in 1s.
I had the luxury of playing against woody and man is that guy good
I do only demos as well and have gotten so many people banned for putting “kys” to me. 3 kids recently for a month, they were mad.
My highest in a single game on my own is 26 demos.
Guys I beat my record. Got 36 or 39, 2 months ago.
