I think the real takeaway here is that V1 has such a good blueprint and each player seems to play their part extremely well. Comm is and has been the disrupter / the primary player in applying pressure everywhere - which makes Beastmode's solo plays and mechanical ability to shine through, and Torment is just solid everywhere but is the best at keeping composure on defense. such a fun team to watch
True, Comm and Torment have such unique skill sets, and Beastmode is yet another ungodly mechanical kid. All three of them play for each other instead of playing for themselves and when it works it’s really unplayable. Either Comm creates chaos and Beast or Torment have an easy shot, or Comm and Torment can use their mechanics to create chances for Beast, we saw many passing plays from Torment to Beast against Gen G. Then there’s also Beastmode who can play the aggressive “Firstkiller” type role and either score on his own or drop it to Comm or Torment to tap it in. They really just bring the best out of each other. There’s many dimensions to this V1 team and nobody really plays like them, that’s what makes them so interesting.
@@AutosportDesign playing for each other is a good way to put it. For sure! V1 has to be my top favourite team just because they play so uniquely and everyone has a role. Space Station used to be that team for me, and same with Moist just because they had such good mechanical skill they could power through the defense.

@Jordan Churchill you obviously don't pay attention to anything that happens around him, sooo many times NRG can't even male a somewhat threatening attack, cause the next person to go or pressure isn't there cuz of Comm or hesitates and so often Beastmode or Torment outplay one player and usually you'd expect the next man of the other team to challenge, but he ain't there, because he was demoed and they're so well coordinated while doing that that they're basically never double committing or one player turns away from a challenge since the other has a safer path to it and you still then have the other one as 3rd man back. It's incredible how little NRG could do on the field most of the time cuz od the demos
NRG’s rear post/third man rotations are so so predictable. I’ve never seen a top team in the last 3-4 splits that has this little mobility in net. @@shake4259 other teams don’t get demo’d as much because they play each team differently at that level. NRG has strengths that are harder to counter. I loved this game so much. I was laughing the whole way after like demo #4 because you could just see what Comm was doing. The fact that you could see NRG and twitchchat malding simultaneously was peak entertainment.
The ppl complaining are probably the same that spam "Wow! Wow! Wow!" after running into your rotation path and getting demoed by accident. Also IF there was a broken, "easy win" mechanic EVERYONE would use it all the time in a competitive setting. It's like chosing a high- to S-Tier character in a fighting game, most serious competitive players would do that.
I think there is a lot to be said about how easy it is for NRG to get demo'd as well. In an SSG coms video Retals is heard saying how NRG is the easiest team in NA to demo. Some of these demos Comm didnt even have to go out of his way to get. I dont think its unfair or mean to say that NRG has to change their play style if the want to remain competitive in RLCS
This properly stands as the record, but I do like Allushin's RGB demo game more (I guess that stands as most demos in a 5 minute game). Allushin not even taking the kickoff and getting a flat 0 touches was hilarious. Though in Comm's favor, playing the ball and demoing is obviously a better team move. Congrats to both on being amazing showmen and players in their own ways.
@@anthonyvallejo9127 Why not? They are not automatically right, if no one made any mistakes in this game there would be no goals. That was actually a 'bad' demo and follow up. No one is perfect, pro's included.
@@EquityUK. Who says staff didn't say the same thing? The statement doesn't have to be wrong just because it's coming from a 'plat' That and we were not talking about if he/they cared or not. The demo and positioning were far from great, pro's are humans to. Who knew right? Also if you are wondering how a 'plat' can see it wasn't great. Through the demo he gave the pass himself, making the demo pointless, the pass was made anyways. And then he didn't postion well enough to stop a not very impressive shot. Its pretty darn simple really.
The interesting thing is, the demo play gets kind of repetitive aswell. It's effective to turn the momentum no doubt, but with teams like SSG and V1 I was always curious, why other teams still seem so surprised and shaken when it happens. Usually after 1 or 2 lost games they adapt and start demoing back, which often works, but I feel they should be anticipating it earlier.
If you just watched someone get 20 demos in one game on professional players and your reaction is "that's cringe" and not "that's unbelievable" I don't know what to tell you. IMO Comm is one of the best players in RLCS at being able to scrap it out on defense, maintain possession, get that extra touch, and read the game. I think he and Retals are similar in that way. You're out of your mind if you think Comm isn't mechy. I wanted NRG to win and I don't love demos but I have never seen anything like this game in all my years watching RL. I've already forgotten all the crazy mechy shots I recently saw in RLCS but I won't forget this game.
Squishy never should have cried about demos in scrims.. it'll come back to haunt him and NRG as a whole, until he gets dropped and they fix their mental issues. I know it's not *JUST* squishy but he's at the forefront of the scrim/demo dilemma.
I think the knee jerk reaction stems from what most of us experience during reg. and even non competitive play, Demo's usually result from the winning team noticing a skill gap and twisting the knife just a little more by adding demos to an already frustrating game for the opposing team to lose. I myself hate demo's used in that manner. A playmaker having that in his tool kit to generate opportunities well that you see in some form no matter what sport you play. Lebron, Bird, Jordan...probably the biggest trash talkers in the game. In Hockey there's always enforcers on the team. Cam Neely #8 was basically doing the same thing Comm was doing here.
Why do so few pros wall dash? 2:52 was the perfect opportunity to use it and Comm just cedes possession instead. Coulda had a booming clear / shot on net with a couple walldashes again at 11:48
Because it’s a high risk low reward play. So what, comm gets a little more speed and hits the ball to the other team a little quicker. Should he mess up the mechanic or just miss due to not judging the speed increase correctly, he’s just left his team in a 2v3. It’s useful, but not if you aren’t 100% confident doing it.
I get we all love NRG (I love them too, cheer for them every time they play no matter who it is)but when they play the SAME style every match and never really evolve with the game. Look at the NFL all the new & young players coming in that are hungry and have time & skills to become little Daniels, you have to evolve no other choice.
Really smart people always view the game differently. Very interesting to see he has a 36 ACT and thinks the ideal way to play RL is this heavy disruption style.
Justin clearly is the easiest to demo, he doesn't even try to jump or anything. It's like Comm said in the Rizzo's podcast, him and Squishy don't play 2v2 enough to develop a better awareness.
Demo is really easier said than done, even in random casual pug game you would never had to think of how your opponents moving through the field, and probably you'd just leave yourself out of the play if you're just rage chasing a car from one side to the other.
NRG fan here. First of all, I want to say that I wouldn’t ever DM somebody to trash them for anything that happens in a pro RL game, so we aren’t all flame monsters. Second, I’m not a fan of the way Comm plays, but I don’t hate it either. While it’s frustrating to watch that many demos, it is part of the game. I may sometimes get raged when I’m getting demo chased in game, but I usually end up thinking that either demos shouldn’t be part of the game or they should be harder to get, not that someone is cringe or something for going for demos, at least after my initial frustration calms down. I would love to see a demo-free RL, though, even if it is just an extra mode or something, just to see how different the game would be.
And now I can’t find the tweet from Justin. I remember seeing it on a video or stream from someone else, so maybe that person made it up as a meme, perhaps it was a comment, perhaps I imagined it, or maybe Justin deleted it.
Let me be clear; I despise nonpros that play this way (particularly in casual). However, people who say beastmode completely carries V1 are nuts. Comm gives him just a ridiculous amount of space, and torment is the perfect 3rd man. Without comm doing this, I think BM is still outside the top 10 in NA.
I dont agree that the good thing about demo's are that they are hard to do in pro matches and should then be seen as a high lvl skill. I feel like demos are a part of the strategic game in rlcs, and rocket league in general, just like rotations. So it annoys me that so many people hate on it. I agree its annoying, but its also frustrating to lose against a team with good rotations. My point is that demo's and bumpes should be seen as another part of the fundamentals in rocket league, just like rotation, positioning, ball and car control. Maybe not as important but still a fundamental thing to learn. (Btw english is my second language so dont hate..)
Demos are a mechanic of the game, I dont think there is any problem with demos, especially with being able to avoid them or alternatively do it yourself. Sure air dribble bumping when you do it properly is almost unbeatable but when the alternative is to enable phasing through cars I think it's just a worse option than being able to actively put your opponents out of position. natrually I think NRG fans are just salty about the loss
He didn’t get his first demo until three minutes 30 seconds and only had one more by one minute left in the game. So when you said he was gonna get 20 it didn’t seem like he can do it.
I was actually thinking during the series that Comm is a very special player and quite underrated. I don't think there's a single other player that has that good of an understanding of where to fit demos into their rotation and when they are the most valuable/ effective. But you also have to mention how perfectly V1 fits together as a team with Torment holding down the back when the other two are reeking havoc on offense and Beastmode fulfilling the nowadays necessary role of the cracked mechanical guy on the ball while still rounding out the rotation and sliding in well as 3rd man if needed.
Wow thats a crazy perspective!! When I was watching this live I thought he was HARD trying for demos ... but no definitely not the case . Didn't even look like he was trying to demo people. Damn...

Is it a weakness though? What can you really do about that? If it is a weakness then that assumes other teams have a strength of evading demos. As a diamond player I really don’t have an answer for that. Maybe pros could develop strategies to help evade the demos?
@@chasebush7423 other teams don't get demoed as much as NRG
@@shake4259 other teams don’t get demo’d as much because they play each team differently at that level. NRG has strengths that are harder to counter. Demos and knowing the three players tendencies just happens to be the most effective counter. I don’t find V1 vs NRG interesting because nothing super impressive really happens, but that’s just me
@@chasebush7423 People say “jump” lol. Playing at that level there’s real no solution for beating 3 pro 10,000+ hour players drooling for bumps. Dodging bumps puts you out of position to apply pressure giving open space to the other team to do whatever. Not dodging bumps gets you demo’d. Whether you’re a pro, casual player, higher level, or just a viewer bump heavy games just don’t do it like great mechanical plays from season 1 - 10.
@@chasebush7423 In Comms words NRG has very predictable 3rd man rotations. This could mean they adjust their challenges in the 1st and 2nd line so they aren’t spread so thin. Idk tho I’m also diamond so I could be talking out my ass
Gotta change the name of demo to Comm. Example: "I'm comming the third man, take the shot!"
Other examples: "I'm comming all over the other team." "Oh my God! I'm comming so hard right now!"
As they say, don't hate the player, hate the game
This properly stands as the record, but I do like Allushin's RGB demo game more (I guess that stands as most demos in a 5 minute game). Allushin not even taking the kickoff and getting a flat 0 touches was hilarious. Though in Comm's favor, playing the ball and demoing is obviously a better team move.
Congrats to both on being amazing showmen and players in their own ways.
2:55 just go back post, he caused the goal. Made up for it at 0:11 but that is the trade-off with chasing the demo constantly.
no way ur telling a regional winner how to play the game
@@anthonyvallejo9127 Why not? They are not automatically right, if no one made any mistakes in this game there would be no goals.
That was actually a 'bad' demo and follow up. No one is perfect, pro's included.
@@NotGoingToNeedAHandle they have team staff for that why would he care about a plats opinion
@@EquityUK. Who says staff didn't say the same thing? The statement doesn't have to be wrong just because it's coming from a 'plat'
That and we were not talking about if he/they cared or not.
@@NotGoingToNeedAHandle you care way to much about this bro it was a passing comment
Comm was a mechanical goliath in that entire tourney
Wtf no he wasn't 😂. V1 are so reliant on Beastmode it's almost embarrassing
Yes he was. Did you even watch it?@@anotherguy3082
No comment on Comm's excellent assist at 2:58?
So what's the demo rampage counter? Is it responding with demo rampaging? It's hard to imagine that being great for the Rocket League meta.
Torment is an underrated legend.
Funny part is that the first demo he did, he passed ball with it to enemy team and they scored XD
I love this and think it’s hilarious the record now is against NRG 😂
6:02 that’d be “fewer” risks, Johnny.

Its part of the game. And when over demos get in your opponents head it works.
Hey johnnyboi
Great commentary on this match
Nice to hear a fellow Scottish accent
Oh gaawds did i just get Scotland cancelled
;)
Comm the Menace.
He has NRG downloaded.
Squishy never should have cried about demos in scrims.. it'll come back to haunt him and NRG as a whole, until he gets dropped and they fix their mental issues. I know it's not *JUST* squishy but he's at the forefront of the scrim/demo dilemma.
There are levels to every aspect of this game ...demo's are no exception
its amazing how complexity beat V1 and GEN-G in the same regional but still lost in top 8
Coulda had a booming clear / shot on net with a couple walldashes
again at 11:48
Because it’s a high risk low reward play. So what, comm gets a little more speed and hits the ball to the other team a little quicker. Should he mess up the mechanic or just miss due to not judging the speed increase correctly, he’s just left his team in a 2v3. It’s useful, but not if you aren’t 100% confident doing it.
Comm is obviously one of the best demoers in the game but what really stands out to me in this game is how fucking awful nrg are at dodging them
100% if my opponent can't defend against a blitz guess what we're doing every play.
I get we all love NRG (I love them too, cheer for them every time they play no matter who it is)but when they play the SAME style every match and never really evolve with the game. Look at the NFL all the new & young players coming in that are hungry and have time & skills to become little Daniels, you have to evolve no other choice.
Sometimes demo gives a opponent more boost than he would have had
I like these videos do more if you can
Highkey comms fault they conceded this game but mistakes happen, his play throughout the rest of the match was incredible to watch
Huh? They won this game
@@Ryan-wx1bi the first goal happened because he demoed into a pass off his own back wall into getting scored on
@@Epiccheese247 okay? They still won the game. What's your point?
@@Ryan-wx1bi he just said conceded, not lost. They conceded a goal because of it
@@Epiccheese247 concede the "game" Is what they said. Not the goal.
Demo is really easier said than done, even in random casual pug game you would never had to think of how your opponents moving through the field, and probably you'd just leave yourself out of the play if you're just rage chasing a car from one side to the other.
i would like to see more of this againts Falcons
Also, I thought Justin’s tweet about air-dribble bumping Comm in ranked games was hilarious.
And now I can’t find the tweet from Justin. I remember seeing it on a video or stream from someone else, so maybe that person made it up as a meme, perhaps it was a comment, perhaps I imagined it, or maybe Justin deleted it.
Imagine Vatira on this roster with Comm and Bmo
Let me be clear; I despise nonpros that play this way (particularly in casual). However, people who say beastmode completely carries V1 are nuts. Comm gives him just a ridiculous amount of space, and torment is the perfect 3rd man. Without comm doing this, I think BM is still outside the top 10 in NA.
Squishy gets so tilted by demos. I’d demo chase myself.
i sense a new demo meta again! this time its gonna be worse
Demolishing is fair game. It is a strat for those that get too comfortable and position themselves to score.
Off topic but if Dead-Monster ever gets a bunch of demos we have to start calling him demonster
Got Comm?
Demos are a mechanic of the game, I dont think there is any problem with demos, especially with being able to avoid them or alternatively do it yourself. Sure air dribble bumping when you do it properly is almost unbeatable but when the alternative is to enable phasing through cars I think it's just a worse option than being able to actively put your opponents out of position.
natrually I think NRG fans are just salty about the loss
Comm's gameplay and his personality are both A+.
The only people mad are the fans of NRG, they're looking for an excuse to not believe their team is washed up.
The team isn't washed. A washed team would never make top 4 in a regional. They just won't be as good as they once were
@@majesticmo5048 1 year later, your statement proved false.
@AmbushDoorFive ok, not sure how my statement can even be false cos i said they won't be as good as they once were which is exactly the case
the first demo was at 330 thats nuts he couldve had more
1:34?
The record seems to have more to do with the length of the game than Comm. Wouldn't even call his actions this game that demo hungry
yeah it’s a bit misleading but he definitely was chasing
He didn’t get his first demo until three minutes 30 seconds and only had one more by one minute left in the game. So when you said he was gonna get 20 it didn’t seem like he can do it.
ik I was so confused
Woody on COMM’s account
Damn...
love the vids
So Squishy rules don't apply to RLCS? That's weird
NRG had a lot of fun
