Crazy Leerfish Strikes | Shore Jigging

- Two beautiful leerfish (Lichia amia) also known as garrick landed by Ivica and Marin on the same day but at completely different locations! One was caught at dawn and another one at noon with a straightforward shore jigging technique. I always thought they prefer top water lures, poppers, stick baits, and of course - live bait, but they love metal jigs and shore jigging fishing.
This amazing fish always brings excitement, especially when she follows the lure with multiple attacks before hookup. Strong, aggressive, and lightning-fast. Imagine this beast follows your lure. What a predator!

Also amazed by hooking these on jigging they mostly hang around the surface, but obviously do venture deeper, they prey allot on mullet which seldom go deep, amazing to see, one of the most beautiful game fish for me great catches respect from Greece 💯 🇬🇷

What amazes me is how he cought it with almost no drag. Bro how tight could you possibly have them for a fish this size to not take anything? I am talking about the first one oc
Ivica is specific shore jigging angler with plenty of experience who understands how hard it is to get a bite and how easy it is to lose the fish. We fish on extremely rocky spots with depths over 60-70m, with big amberjacks and groupers. His setup must be flawless to boost his confidence while fighting a fish and minimize the risk of losing it. Each part, each knot. Best braid and FC available on market, perfect knots and strongest hooks. He can go almost full tight for fish like this.
Downside of this approach is when you catch the bottom 😂
Yeah if there are grpupers and amberjacks you need drags of 7-8 kg

@@andreasspyrou7688 amberjack are best in june and. Bonitos are good all year round and leerfish and mahi are between august to octomber. In september you can find a bit of everything
Are you able to get parts to service the Catalina?
I guess it is possible. This one has custom spool and handle, but i guess it's possible. We wait for Ivica to confirm...
I have a catalina also that broke the main gear and I want to fix it but it seems daiwa stopped making parts?

I've been fishing for 2 days on vis, it's too windy and stormy to fish in the open sea, so only in the bay for small fish, amazing what you've caught, that gives me confidence
My family is from Vis and my Nono (Granddad) once catched a big as goliath trooper in rhe bay by handline ...it took him hours to pull it out of the water🤣

This is Daiwa Catalina 6500H from 2015. with RCS custom spool and custom Livre knob handle from 2023. series. One of the best!
