I would bathe, [no showers then], comb my hair into a perfect quiff, [or pompadour as the Yanks say], dress in my Oatmeal coloured jacket with 'Slim Jim' tie, black drainpipe trousers, black 'brothel creeper' shoes and, together with my like-minded mates head off to theTudor ballroom, a local dive which played Rock 'n' Roll music, I can still smell the perfume and sense the atmosphere, isn't that strange?
